Gordon Dean Marbery
July 31st, 2004

Gordon Dean Marbery, age 80, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Warrensburg, Missouri.

In 1944, he began his employment with General Motors in Kansas City, and retired from there after 30 years. Following his retirement, he moved to Edwards, Missouri.

In 1974, he was married to Mary Ann Westerfield and they made their home in Edwards. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, raising cattle and riding their Foxtrotters. They always had a big garden and enjoyed life to the fullest. His wife, Mary Ann, preceded him in death on December 15, 2002.

He is survived by four children, Linda L. Tombaugh of Archie, Missouri, Steven D. Marbery, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Paul A. Marbery, of Warrensburg, Missouri and Lisa D. Tombaugh of Kansas City, Kansas, a brother, Carl A. Marbery, of the state of California, 8 grandchildren, Glenn Gordon Long, Deanna L. Bullard, Ethan Marbery, Blake Marbery, Jason Marbery, Tiffany Parsons, Victoria Smith and Jennifer Tombaugh, 9 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial services for Gordon Dean Marbery will be at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, August, 5, 2004 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.

Interment of the cremains will be in Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw.

Carl E. Squibb
July 27th, 2004

Carl Eugene "Gene" Squibb, age 71, of Climax Springs, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at his home.

He was born on August 24, 1932, in Republic, Missouri, the son of Carl and Obilene Squibb.

He grew up in the Springfield area and attended Pleasant Hope High School.

Afterwards, he moved to Kansas City were he was employed as a lineman for Independence Power and Light, until his retirement in 1993.

On February 11, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mildred Gasparovic in Kansas City, Kansas, and made their home in Independence, where they raised their family of three daughters and one son.

Carl joined the Masonic Lodge in 1971 and was a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite.

He was also a Nobel member of the Ararat Shrine. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid race fan of all types.

He is preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Bob and John Squibb.

He is survived by his wife Millie, of the home, three daughters, Sabrina Banister and her husband Mark Soulis of Kansas City, Lourie Fisher and her husband James of Kansas City, Gina Lindahl and her husband Steve of Thurmont, Maryland, one son, Cris Squibb and his wife Tamara, of Springfield, ten grandchildren; Nick, Jessica, Ryan, Wyatt, Grant, Graham, Audrey, Derrick, Jared and Latasha, his mother, Obilene Squibb, of Springfield, one brother Jack Squibb, and seven sisters, Nancy Squibb, Judy Wright, Kay Sharp, Sally Maggard, Sue Herrin, Sandra Evans and Rebecca Blair.

Funeral services and Masonic Rites for Carl Eugene "Gene" Squibb will be held at 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 29, 2004 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri.

Visitation will take place two hours prior to service beginning at 4:00 P.M. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Benton County Hospice c/o Reser Funeral Home, P.O. Box 910, Warsaw, Missouri 65355.

Kathleen Louise Valentine
July 26th, 2004

Kathleen L. Valentine, age 63, of Warsaw, passed away July 26, 2004 at the Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.

She was born on April 12, 1941, in San Francisco, California, the daughter of Hugh Walter and Adeline Louise Cherrington Monger.

Kathleen grew up in the San Francisco area, until joining the Navy, where she served as a secretary to the Department in Arlington, Virginia.

She was united in marriage to William J. Finch on January 27, 1962 They made their home in various communities throughout the United States.

On May 7, 1979, she was united in marriage to Robert G. Valentine, were they resided in Henderson, Nevada, near Las Vegas for nearly twenty years.

In 1998, she moved to Warsaw, under the love and care of her daughter, Michelle, who has served as caregiver and comforter the past several years.

Kathy was an avid gardener, enjoying the wildlife and the flowers that surrounded her. She also enjoyed the ocean as she grew up along the West Coast and collecting ducks. But most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who were such an important aspect of her life. She was also a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Warsaw.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael P. Finch and one brother, Lyle Monger.

She is survived by two daughters Rebecca Forget and her husband Kelly, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Michelle Garrett and her husband Bernard, of Warsaw, six grandchildren; Eric, Erin, Elyse, Amy, Clifford and Courtney, one sister, Sandy Parrish, of Bryon, California, one brother John Monger, of Las Vegas, Nevada, two nieces Jana and Patty, and three nephews Joe, Brian and Tony, other relatives and many, many friends.

Memorial Services for Kathleen Louise Valentine, will be held Tuesday evening, August 3, 2004, at 7:00 P.M. at the Faith Lutheran Church in Warsaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the family, c/o Reser Funeral Home, P.O. Box 910, Warsaw, Missouri 65355, or the Osage Valley Bank in Warsaw.

Nannie Helen Mitchell
July 22, 2004

Nannie Helen Mitchell age 86, of Quincy, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home, in Lincoln, Missouri.

She was born on July 6, 1918 in Quincy, Missouri, the daughter of Jeff and Nannie Hart Harvey.

She grew up in Benton County, Missouri, living in Quincy, Missouri area for many years. She attended college at Warrensburg and in Bolivar, Missouri, receiving her teaching certificate. On June 24, 1940 she was united in marriage to Stan Mitchell in Versailles, Missouri. After marriage they made their home in the Quincy area, moving to Raytown, Missouri, where she taught school for over 20 years. She retired in 1976, having taught for 33 years. In 1983 they moved back to Quincy where they have made their home for the past 21 years.

She was a member of the Missouri State Teacher’s Association the Raytown Teachers Credit Union and the Raytown Teachers Association. She was also a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, in Quincy Missouri, and her name was listed in the "Who’s Who in Missouri Education.

Helen is survived by her husband, Stan of the home, and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services for Helen Mitchell will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 26, 2004 at Hopewell Baptist Church, in Quincy Missouri, with Rev. Ken Bolton and Rev. B.R. Tatum, officiating.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday evening at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, near Quincy, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be Bill Scott, Joe Scott, Ronnie Henderson, Lewis Ray, Tom Lufft and Bruce Derks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Logan, Kenney Stevens, Terry McFarlin, Tom Campbell, Jim Ray, Jeff Ray, Tim Mitchell, Matt Mitchell, J.D. Mitchell, Dennis Mitchell and Lindsey Scott.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Zion Cemetery or the Benton County Hospice or the Hopewell Baptist Church.

Juanita Mae Red Wing
July 17th, 2004

Juanita Mae Red Wing, age 61, of Warsaw, passed away Friday, July 16, 2004 at Boone Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri.

She was born on June 27, 1943, in Camden County, Missouri, the daughter of Irvin & Mary Wallace Hilburn.

She grew up near Climax Springs, Missouri and graduated from Climax Springs High School in 1961 where she was an accomplished basketball player.

On November 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Dean Red Wing at Ft. Pierce, South Dakota. Most of their married life was spent in the Warsaw area where they raised their family of three sons.

Juanita was a restauranteur in the Warsaw area and enjoyed working with the public. She enjoyed her flower gardening, playing bingo and her trips to the boats. However, she was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and spending time with her family was very important to her.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Warsaw.

Juanita is survived by her husband, Dean, of the home, three sons, Ronnie Red Wing of State College, Pennsylvania, Robbie Red Wing of Warsaw and Rodney Red Wing of Howell, Michigan, 7 grandchildren, Kayla, Lakota, Kaitlyn, Erin, Austin, Nicholas and Alexander Red Wing, three brothers, Bill Wiseman of Holden, Missouri, Wesley Hilburn of Warsaw and Kenny Hilburn of Fristoe, two sisters, Fyrn Fonk of Eager, Arizona, and Shirley Burns, of Warsaw, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Juanita Red Wing will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at the St. Ann Catholic Church, in Warsaw. with Fr. Richard Colbert officiating. Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw. Friends may call after 10:00 A.M., Monday, with visitation and rosary to be held Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 with rosary to begin at 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Red Wing Family Reunion in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Ronald C. Cummins
September 8, 2005

Ronald C. Cummins, age 56, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday morning, September 8, 2005, at his home.

He was born on September 25, 1948, in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the son of Raymond and Evelyn Woods Cummins.

He grew up in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and when he was 17, enlisted into the United States Navy. He served two tours overseas in Vietnam on a PBR boat on critical missions in the Mekong Delta. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

He returned to Kansas City, Missouri area and was employed by AT & T and later for Missouri Public Service. In the early 1980’s, he moved to Warsaw and was employed on the Harry S. Truman Dam Project as first an electrician, then a control room operator and was a maintenance supervisor until March of this year.

He was united in marriage to Angie Bristow on December 27, 1990 in Warsaw. Following their marriage, they made their home in Warsaw.

He was a hybrid bass fisherman and was affectively known as the "Hybrid King on Truman Lake". Ron was very outgoing, adventurous, had an excellent sense of humor and always honest. One of his favorite lines was "God hates a coward" He was always willing to lend a helping hand or do anything he was ask. In 2003 and 2004, he volunteered to go to Iraq to help restore electricity and was the project engineer for restoring the electricity in the southern third of Iraq. He enjoyed traveling and saw the world while in the navy and on his many fishing trips.

His father, Raymond Cummins and two brothers, James "Jimmy" Cummins and Ray Jr. Cummins, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Angie, of the home, four children, Jerad Allen Cummins, of Blue Springs, Missouri, Brian Cummins and Michael Cummins, both of Topeka, Kansas, and Lucas Cummins, currently of the home, his mother, Evelyn Cummins of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, a sister, Norma E. Geiss, also of Excelsior Springs, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Ronald Cummins will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 10, 2005, with Bill Roberts officiating.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M., Saturday prior to the services.

Interment and military honors will be at Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw.

Family suggest memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Ridge Camp in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Nellie King

Nellie Mae King, age 79, of Warsaw, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at her home.

She was born on January 12, 1926, in Warsaw, Missouri, the daughter of Jake Otis and Lilly Mae Jackson Hammond.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking for her family and doing crafts. She also collected Beanie Babies.

She had professed her faith and joined the Assembly of God Church many years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mable Hammond Kindle, and four brothers, Gene, Fred, Jesse, and Ottis Hammond.

Surviving is her husband, Earl Lawrence King, of the home, seven children, Barbara Jean Vansel Palanza of Jacksonville, Florida, Mary Lou Vansel Kellner, Larry Wayne Vansel and Patricia Ann Baldwin Black, all of Warsaw, Gary Cleo Vansel and Marvin Eugene Baldwin, both of Kansas City, Kansas and Vickie Ellen Baldwin LaMartina, of Olathe, Kansas, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, six step-children, Patsy McMunn, Sandra Darling, Earl King, Jr., James King, John King, all of Kansas City, Missouri and Connie Hockett of Warsaw, 8 step-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter, 3 siblings, Myrtle, George and Chester, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Nellie Mae King will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 8, 2005, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Burial will be in Turkey Creek Cemetery near Warsaw.

No Visitation. Arrangements by the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Canyon Lee Brown
September 5, 2005

Canyon Lee Brown, died at birth on September 3, 2005, at Bothwell Regional Health Care Center in Sedalia.

He is survived by his mother, Crystal Bash, of Edwards, his grandparents, Ted and Berlidene Brown of Edwards and his great-grandmother, Junie Dodd also of Edwards.

Also surviving is an aunt, Joyce Hasper, and her husband, Stephen, of Pasadena, California, cousins, Nathan, Roger, and Adam Hasper and their families, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Canyon Lee Brown will be at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 6, 2005, at the Cable Ridge Cemetery, Edwards, Missouri, with Rev. Stephen Hasper officating.

Arrangements under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
