Benjamin Meade Fairless Harp

The family of Benjamin Meade Fairless Harp, age 36, of Warsaw, Missouri, mourns the death of their beloved son and nephew, the 75th homicide victim of 2005, in Kansas City, Missouri, on August 17, 2005.
He was born on June 28, 1969, the son of Ruth Ysleta Harp, who is a resident of the Lincoln Community Nursing Home, in Lincoln, Missouri.
Ben was a graduate of Hickman Mills High School, in 1987, and attended the Longview Community College. He was a member of the Boy Scout Troop #110, of Hickman Mills and a member of the Baptist Church of Martin City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Herbert L. and Laura E. Fairless of Fayetteville, Ark. formerly of Kansas City, Missouri.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth. He also leaves behind his Aunt and Uncle, Beulah R. and Thomas E. Murphy of Warsaw, Missouri, who raised him since he was a young child.
Also surviving, one sister, Vickie J. Farvis, of Tulsa, Ok., and a large extended family, and many friends who loved him.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 27, 2005 at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Alvin J. Jolley, officiating.
Violet Y. Lane

Violet Yvonne Lane, age 70, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Sunday evening, August 14, 2005, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri.
She was born on the Kellner farm near Warsaw, Missouri, on June 2, 1935, the daughter of John and Zella B. Calvin Kellner.
She grew up in the Warsaw area and graduated from Warsaw High School in the class of 1953. She then made her home in Kansas City, Kansas, and was employed as a waitress, working at Putche’s Restaurant on the Plaza in Kansas City for sixteen years. In 1978. she returned to make her home in Warsaw.
She was an avid flower gardener and was most diligent to keep her flower beds weed-free and well-watered. She was most happy to wake-up each morning to enjoy her colorful yard.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Jack Kellner, James Kellner, Bill Kellner and Donnie Kellner.
She is survived by one son, Michael Lane, and his wife, Stella, of Warsaw, one sister, June Allen, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 18th, 2005, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.
Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Warsaw.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
William R. Taylor

William Robert Taylor, age 65, passed away Friday, August 12, 2005, at his home in KC Colony Development near Edwards, Missouri.
He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on November 12, 1939, the son of William Woodrow and Rosanna Elizabeth Allman Taylor.
He grew up in Wyandotte County, Kansas, and enlisted in the United States Navy serving for four years. He was aboard ship most of that time and had sailed around the world seven times during his enlistment. Following his discharge in 1960, he returned to make his home in Wyandotte County.
He worked as a laborer on various construction sites for several years and then worked as a freight loader for over-the-road truckers until moving to his lake home near Edwards in 1990.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Billy Taylor.
He is survived by his mother, Rosanna Taylor, of Edwards, three brothers, Fred Taylor, and his wife, Veronica, of Sedalia, Missouri, Kenneth Taylor, of Edwards, and Charles Taaylor, of Peculiar, Missouri, two sisters, Wanda McCall and Marcella Tindle, both of Kansas City, Kansas, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside funeral services and burial will be at 1:30 P.M. Thursday, August 18th at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas, under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, Missouri.
Herald Bailey

Herald Eugene "Bud" Bailey, age 81, of Warsaw, passed away Friday, August 12, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born on the family farm near Warsaw on April 10, 1924, the son of Garland and Nancy Maxwell Bailey.
He grew up on the farm and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1942.
On January 6, 1943, he was married to Grace Nicholas at the Baptist parsonage in Marshall, Missouri.
In 1945, Bud entered the United States Army and served overseas for 18 months in Germany. He had the privilege of driving then General Dwight Eisenhower while in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1947.
He was an ordained minister for several years and preached at Turkey Creek Chapel. He presently was a member of the New Home Baptist Church of Warsaw.
He spent most all his life on the family farm. He raised livestock and grew hay and for a short time, corn. The farm was his life and he enjoyed being on the farm. For over 26 years, he owned and operated Bailey’s Sand and Gravel, retiring in 1995.
His parents, one sister, Wanda Snow one son, Herald E. Bailey, Jr., and one grandson, Jamie Bailey, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Grace, of the home, three sons, Ted Bailey, and his wife, Debra, of Warsaw, Ronnie Bailey, and his wife, Sandra, of Kansas City, Missouri and Tim Bailey, and his wife, Tammy, of Harrisonville, 6 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, a brother, Neil G. Bailey of Warsaw, two sisters, Margie Marquis and Evelyn Pruitt, both of Sedalia, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Herald E. "Bud" Bailey will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, August 14, 2005, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Barry Edwards officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday evening from 7 to 8 P.M., at the Reser Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Fredonia Baptist Church, in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
Nickey Ray Johnson
August 12, 2005
Nickey Ray Johnson, age 55, of Warsaw, passed away Friday, August 12, 2005, at his home after a battle with cancer.
He was born on September 14, 1949, in Warsaw, the son of Ray Samuel and Ila Mae Land Johnson.
In November 1966, he enlisted into the United States Army, serving overseas in Vietnam. He was honorably discharge in November of 1969.
On May 1, 1971, he was united in marriage to Charlene Fern Gregg at Sedalia, Missouri. They made their home near Warsaw, where they raised their family of one son and two daughters. He had been employed as a construction worker and worked on the Truman Dam Project and levee and was foreman on the Harry S. Truman Visitor’s Center. He was also a carpet layer and installed carpet in many homes and businesses in the area.
He was a member of the American Legion Post # 217 of Warsaw and the Carpenter’s Union.
His parents, one sister, Wanda Hill and two brothers, Dennis Johnson and Raymond Johnson, preceded him in death
Surviving is his wife, Charlene, of the home, one son, Dale Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, two daughters, Rhonda Hilt, and her husband, Lendell, of Green Ridge, Missouri, and Leslie Todd, and her husband, Tim, of Versailles, 6 grandchildren, Shirlene, Candace, and Nathanael Hilt, of Green Ridge, Natalie Johnson of St. Louis, Holly Fields and Josh Walters of Versailles, two brothers, Kenneth Johnson of Warsaw and Phillip Johnson of Lincoln, three sisters, Roberta DeGraffenried of Warsaw and Phyliss Smith and Shirley Lear, both of Lincoln, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends..
Funeral services for Nickey R. Johnson, will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 15, 2005, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Pastor Sam Hinkle officiating.
Burial and military rites will be held in Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, from 7 to 8 P.M., at the Reser Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Benton County Cancer Fund in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
Aubrey Lee Murray

Aubrey Lee Murray was born February 26, 1930 to Walter and Jewell Mitchell Murray in Guymon, Oklahoma.
He passed away at his home in rural Warsaw on Friday, August 12. Lee graduated from Hardesty, Oklahoma High School in 1949 and attended Bible College in Baxter Springs, Kansas.
Following graduation he pastured Apostolic Faith Churches in San Diego, California, Meridian, Mississippi, and Liberal, Kansas, where he was instrumental in building a new church.
Lee moved to Raytown, Missouri in 1959. He had a manor Baker route and a Fuller Brush territory in Independence.
In 1965, Lee married Donna Kimm Berry and they moved to Amarillo Texas where they operated dry cleaning plants for a Kansas City based company.
In 1969, they returned to Kansas City, and Lee worked on the road for One Hour Martinizing.
In November of 1972, they purchased Weber’s Cleaners, later renaming it The Cleaners Etc, in Richmond, Missouri. They owned and operated the dry cleaning plant, custom drapery and wallpaper business until December of 1996, when they sold and made plans to retire to the lake.
During heart surgery in the spring of 1997, Lee suffered severe bilateral stroke damage. He fought very hard to regain his health and never gave up through therapy and further setbacks.
Lee leaves behind his wife, Donna of the home, one sister, Lorita Austin of Forsyth, Illinois, two daughters, Victoria Gustavision of Papua, New Guinea and Rebecca LeGrand of Centralia, Missouri, six grandchildren, Isaac LeGrand, United States Navy, Rachel LeGrand of Springfield, Missouri, Charity LeGrand of Centralia, Missouri, Krista Bennett of Rolla, Missouri, Erin Ragan of Rolla, Missouri and Josiah Gustavison, Wilmore of Kentucky along with 4 great-grandchildren
Lee was a member of the Ararat Shrine Temple, Kansas City, Missouri, Richmond Blue Lodge of Richmond, Missouri and the United Methodist Church of Warsaw.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday August 16, 2005 at the Reser Funeral Home with Cliff Saupe officiating.
Interment of ashes will follow at a later date.

Mary Helen "Bee" Simpkins

Mary Helen "Bee" Simpkins, age 73, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2005, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born on May 27, 1932, in Nashville, Arkansas, the daughter of Gus Patrick and Mona Laura Rice McClanahan.
She grew up in Nashville, and graduated from Nashville High School in 1950. She then attended Southern State College in Magnolia, Arkansas. She moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where she was employed as a secretary for a fire insurance firm.
On February 16, 1958, she married Billy Simpkins at the Wesley Methodist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. They made their home in Fayetteville, Arkansas before moving to Greenville, Texas where they lived for a year. They returned to Russellville, Arkansas and unto this union, their were born two daughters.
They later moved with their family to Ozark, Arkansas and then to Lanett, Alabama before first coming to Warsaw in 1974. In 1989, they moved to Elberton, Georgia where they made their home for three years and then returned to Warsaw.
"Bee" as she was known to her family and friends, had a devoted faith and was an avid reader and student of the bible. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warsaw and had severed as Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was a member of the Gideon’s Auxiliary serving as a state cabinet member for six years and had worked at the Baptist Ridge Camp.
Her parents, and one brother, Gus McClanahan, preceded her in death.
Surviving is her devoted husband, Billy, of the home, two daughters, Laurie Rebecca Simpkins, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Mary Margaret Horning, and her husband, William Joseph, and two granddaughters, Rebecca Grace and Emily Anne, all of Raytown, a brother, Larry McClanahan of Little Rock, Arkansas and a sister-in-law, Carol McClanahan of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Mary Helen "Bee" Simpkins, will be held at 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at the First Baptist Church of Warsaw, with Rev. Barry Edwards officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 7 to 8 P.M., at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Memorials may be made to the American Stroke Association in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
Dean Burton

Dean Burton, age 77, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005, at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born on February 12, 1928, in Benton County, near Racket, Missouri, the son of Harve and Addie Summers Burton.
He grew up near Warsaw, and attended Warsaw High School.
Dean served in the United States Army, serving overseas in Italy, during World War II, before he was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Margie Brown. They made their home in Oak Grove and Grain Valley where he was a production worker for Fischer Body for over 10 years.
They moved to Sedalia, Missouri where he owned and operated a bowling alley.
Later he moved to Ft. Morgan, Colorado where he continued in the bowling alley operations.
In 1971, he moved to Racket, and operated the Racket Store for several years. He then worked in the bowling alley at Whiteman Air Force Base until he retired.
Following retirement, Dean still found time on his hands, and began working in sales at Sutherland Lumber in Sedalia.
On January 26, 1995, he was married to Esther Allen in Warsaw. Following their marriage, they made their home in Warsaw.
Dean was a friend to all. He had a great sense of humor, always enjoying a good story or joke. He loved to read as long as his eyesight would allow. He spent many enjoyable hours fishing the lake and turkey hunting. He was a avid card player and would challenge anyone to a good game. He was very proud of his Indiana heritage that was given him by his mother.
His parents, his wife, Esther, and two brothers, Fred Burton and Ray Burton, preceded him in death.
Surviving is one daughter, Rhonda Gaylord and her husband, Ed, of Green Ridge, Missouri, two sons, Jim Page and his wife, Corinne, of Ohio and Kenny Page, and his wife, Fay, of Minnesota. 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson, a brother, Leo Burton and his wife, Beverly, of Lincoln, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Dean Burton will be Monday, August 8, 2005, at 10:30 A.M., at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Jason McCray officiating.
Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery, Warsaw.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Sunday at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Memorials may be made to the Federation for the Blind in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
