Gordon Ritter
January 16, 2005
Gordon W. Ritter, age 87, of Edwards, passed away Sunday January 16, 2005 at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw.
He was born on December 25, 1917, at Edwards, the son of Bert and Violet Cable Ritter.
He grew up in Edwards and on November 14, 1942, he was united in marriage to Iva B. Russell.
Gordon was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was honorably discharged and returned to his family and farm near Edwards, Missouri. They lived on the Ritter homestead and farmed and raised their family of two daughters.
Gordon attended the Assembly of God Church in Climax Springs, and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3600 of Climax Springs.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva, on March 5, 1991, and a brother, Elmer Ritter, on October 14, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Gordena Creach of Odessa, Missouri and Roberta Kiser of Edwards, four grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Gordon W. Ritter will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Burial and military rites will be in the Climax Springs Cemetery, Climax Springs, Missouri.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M., Monday evening at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Benton County Hospice in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
Lela Fern Tucker

Lela Fern Flippin Tucker, age 88, of Climax Springs, Missouri, passed away Sunday morning, January 16, 2005, at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center in Warsaw, Missouri.
She was born in Climax Springs, Missouri, on April 21, 1916, the daughter of Elgie and Ella Mae Green Flippin.
On December 16, 1933, she was united in marriage to Vernon Tucker. They made their home on a farm in Hickory County until 1959. They then moved to Climax Springs, to make their home in the Old Hotel. He preceded her in death in February of 1983.
She had been a housekeeping supervisor at the Lone Oak Resort for some twenty years and then was employed as a cook for the Climax Springs school for eleven years.
She had served on the Climax Springs town council for several years and was always willing to help with the town’s affairs and activities for many years. She was baptized in October of 1940 and was a member of the Green Ridge Missionary Baptist Church near Climax Springs.
Lela is survived by one sister, Lillian McGinnis, of Carthage, Missouri, a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Flippin, of Warsaw, Missouri, four nieces, one nephew, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd Flippin, on September 13, 2004.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday morning, January 19th, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw with Rev. Francis Cline officiating.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P. M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Climax Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Glen Harpham, Tim Hoover, Carl Bentch, Billy Dale Franklin, George D. Green, and Charles Green.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in care of the funeral home.
Herman Dean Williams

Herman Dean Williams, age 76, of Cross Timbers, Missouri, passed suddenly Friday, January 14, 2005 at his home.
He was born on December 23, 1928, at Hopkins, Missouri, the son of Dean Riley and Nora Oxley Williams.
On February 7, 1959, he was united in marriage to Billie Ruth Shockley at St. Joseph, Missouri. They made their home in St. Joseph, while he attended classes in the ministry.
He first served as a Lay Minister at Fair Play Methodist Church. He then served the Edwards Circuit in Edwards, Missouri serving the Methodist Churches of Edwards, Bethel, Wiseman and New Hope.
In the early 1990's, they moved to Tustenoogee, Florida where he served the Tustenoogee Methodist Church. They later moved to Live Oak, Florida, and he served the Rocky Sink Baptist Church. On December 14, 2001, they moved to their retirement home in Cross Timbers, Missouri.
First and foremost was his work in the ministry, and caring and providing for his family. He had served as a safety maintenance engineer assisting with safety inspections at many industrial plants throughout the United States. In 1961, he worked for Southwest Electric as an electrical lineman for 11 years.
He loved horses and had trained Tennessee walking horses. He had entered them in several horse shows where he received many awards and trophies. He had been a member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Association.
He was a member of the Cross Timbers Methodist Church of Cross Timbers, Missouri.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving is his wife, Billie Ruth Williams, of the home, four sons, Chuck Loar of Alachua, Florida, L.D. Williams of the home, S.D. Babcock of Preston, Mo., and Riley Williams of Crawfordville, Florida, two granddaughters, Tiffany Driskill of Chilhowee, Missouri and Nichole Christian of Preston, Missouri, two great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. Also surviving is one brother, George Williams, of Maryville, Missouri, four sisters, Frances Espey and Evelyn Birkenholz, both of Maryville, Mo., Helen Sample of McLouth, Kansas and Dorothy Mick of Hopkins, Mo., numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends throughout the country.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 18, 2005, at the Cross Timbers Methodist Church in Cross Timbers, Missouri with Rev. Don Rickman officiating.
Cremation to follow services.
Body will lie in state after 9:00 A.M., Monday at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Memorials may be made to the Cross Timbers Methodist Church in care of the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Sara M. Leppert

Sara Marilyn Leppert, age 90, lovingly passed into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at the Lincoln Community Nursing in Lincoln, Missouri.
She was born on June 15, 1914, on a homesteaded farm in Stevens County Kansas, the daughter Ray and Ethel Chaffin Stalcup.
In 1931, she graduated from Liberal High School in Liberal, Kansas, and entered nurses training at Research Hospital at the age of seventeen.
In 1935, she graduated from Research Hospital as a Registered Nurse and began a life long career as a compassionate and knowledgeable nurse.
On April 24, 1937, she was united in marriage to Charles Richard Leppert in Kansas City, Missouri, having two children Curtis Ray and Marina Lee.
During the early part of her career, Sara was a private duty nurse across the Midwestern and Western part of the United States and in Canada.
Upon her husband's return from World War II, she was an Industrial nurse at Westinghouse Company, later known as Bendix and Research Clinic, both in Kansas City. In 1960, she moved to Lincoln, Missouri, where she was the first school nurse for the Benton County RII School District.
In 1969, the family returned to Kansas City where she was a charge nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital and later on, at Lakeside Orthopedic Hospital.
Upon returning to Lincoln, Missouri, in 1973, she was a charge nurse at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital, in Clinton, Missouri, and then became the first administrator of the Benton County Health Department, established in 1975. In 1982, she officially retired from nursing after a long and distinguished career.
She was a lifetime member of the American Nurses Association, an honorary member of the Missouri State Nurses Association, served on the Board of Directors of the Benton County Health Department Hospice and a member of the Lincoln Community Nursing Home Guild.
Sara was one of the founding members of the Overland Park Church of Christ, Overland Park, Kansas and a member of the Church of Christ of Lincoln, Missouri. During her lifetime, she taught Sunday school for countless children.
Sara loved flowers and rising early. She often remarked that morning was the "prettiest part of the day".
She was a faithful Christian, a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, a kind friend and selfless nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Stalcup, a sister Georgie Rose; and her son, Curtis Leppert.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Charles "Dick"; one daughter Marina Scheiner and her husband Steve, of Sedalia, Missouri; one sister, Mary Martz of Liberal, Kansas; one brother, Irl Nelson Stalcup and his wife Jean, of Oceanside, California; a grandson Christopher and step-granddaughter Rachel, both of Sedalia; a granddaughter, Sarah Marie Leppert of Independence; a step-grandson, Joshua Munger of Excelsior Springs and a sister-in-law, Helen Stalcup, of Lewisville, Texas. She is also survived by many friends and family who will miss her dearly.
Funeral services for Sara M. Leppert will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 15, 2005 at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, in Lincoln, Missouri, with Evangelist, Charles Rose, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Interment will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, in Lincoln, Missouri.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton County Health Department or the Lincoln Community Nursing Home.
Roy Bradley

Roy Bradley, age 88, of Warsaw, passed away early Saturday morning, January 8, 2005 at the Lee’s Summit Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell, of the home, one son, Eddie Bradley, of Lee’s Summit and Judy Crisp of Springfield, a step-son, Dan Howe, a step-daughter, Linda Adcox, and a step-daughter-in-law, Kathy Howe, all of Lee’s Summit, Missouri
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 10, 2005 at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw with Rev. Bill Hix officiating.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to the services from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. at the Reser Funeral Home.
Fern Hashagen

Fern L. Hashagen, age 94, of Warsaw, passed away Friday, January 7, 2005, at the Warsaw Health and Rehab Center in Warsaw.
She was born near Warsaw, on November 16, 1910, the daughter of John Henry and Josephine C. Gilmore Hashagen.
She moved with her family at an early age to Cole Camp where she attended school and graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1928. She took the teacher’s exam and qualified for a second grade certificate which permitted her to teach in Benton County rural schools.
She then went to summer school at Warrensburg and graduated from Warrensburg Central Missouri State Teacher’s College with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. She taught first and second grades at Warsaw then at Kansas City, retiring from the Kansas City School District after 45 years of teaching. She was fondly known by her students as "Miss Fern".
Following her retirement she returned to Warsaw, where she made her home. She was fond of her roots and the community of Warsaw.
She was a faithful member of the Warsaw First United Methodist Church where she and her sister, Myrtle, could be found every Sunday as long as their health permitted.
She was also a member of the Missouri State Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Hashagen, a sister, Mayme Barnett, a brother, Clarence Hashagen and a long time friend, Gene Wetzel.
Surviving is her sister, Myrtle Still, a resident of Warsaw Health and Rehab Center, Warsaw, Missouri, two nephews, Robert Hashagen of Shawnee, Kansas, Phillip Hashagen, of Cary, North Carolina, numerous great-nephews, nieces and cousins who will fondly remember her presence.
Funeral services for Fern Hashagen will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Dr. Diama Loomis officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Warsaw United Methodist Church in her memory.
Charles Robb

Charles R. Robb, age 88, of Warsaw, passed away January 7, 2005 at his home.
He was born on April 14, 1916 to Walter B. and Lucille (Cobb) Robb in Benton County, Missouri.
On November 3, 1949, he was united in marriage to Helen Standish in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Charles was employed by Philips Petroleum as a pipe fitter until retiring and moving to Warsaw in 1963.
Charles was an avid outdoorsmen who loved to hunt and fish.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2783 of Warsaw and First United Methodist Church, Warsaw.
Charles is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, one daughter Cheryl Robb McCain and one son Robert Robb.
Charles is survived by one son C.A. Robb, and his wife Susan, of Warsaw, two daughters, Charlyne Grantham, of Prairie Village, Kansas and Sharon Robb, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Charles Robb will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Rev. Diana Loomis, officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, with military rites provided by the American Legion Post #217 of Warsaw.
Memorial contributions may be made in leu of flowers to the Meals on Wheels Program or the Benton County Animal Shelter.
Lawrence Parr
January 6, 2005
Lawrence F. Parr, age 69, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2005 at his home in Warsaw, Missouri.
He was born on November 21, 1935 in Webb, Iowa, the son of Frank and Jennifer Reel Parr.
On July 20, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carol Sue Althoff at Warsaw, Missouri, and unto this union, one son and two daughters were born.
They made their home north of Warsaw, and later moved to Windsor, Missouri, where they operated a dairy farm.
In 1962, they moved to Spencer, Iowa and Lawrence was employed at a Meat Packing House for more than 20 years.
In 1984, they returned to Warsaw, where he owned and operated the Possum Hollow General Store, retiring in 1993.
Lawrence loved running his general store, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed collecting antique engines.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol on July 19, 1997, two brothers, Guy Parr and John Parr, and two sisters, Mary Hicks and Anna Ross.
He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Hawk, and her husband Robert, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Barbara Anderson, of Independence, Missouri, one son Frank Parr and his wife, Delleda of Warsaw, Missouri, seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 10, 2005 at the Reser Funeral Home, in Warsaw, with Pastor Jason McCray, officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 9, 2005.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Warsaw Heath and Rehabilitation Center.
Burial will be in the Mt.Olivet Cemetery, near Calhoun, Missouri.
