Goldie M. Munger
May 9th, 2004

Goldie Mae Munger, age 85, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2004, at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center, in Warsaw.

She was born in Oklahoma, on February 22, 1919.

She grew up in California and Missouri moving to the Kansas City area with her family. She made her home in Kansas City until she was married to Chester C. Munger on March 25, 1979. They then moved to make their home in the Sycamore Valley Development near Warsaw.

Goldie is survived by her husband, Chester, of the home, three sons, Robert Estenbaum, of Independence, Missouri, Tommy Baker, of Elk Grove, California, and Lee Haney, of Moore, Oklahoma, one adopted daughter, Pam Bland, of Warsaw, thirteen grandchildren, lots of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services and Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at the Shawnee Cemetery near Warsaw. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Billy C. Bradley
May 8th, 2004

Billy C. Bradley, age 80, passed away Saturday morning, May 8, 2004, at his home near Warsaw, Missouri.

He was born in Clark, Missouri, on November 5, 1923, the son of Dewey and Manilla Wright Bradley.

He grew up around Madison, Missouri, and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1940. He served aboard ship in the Pacific as a veteran of World War II and was discharged in 1946 with six years of service.

On March 27, 1942, he was united in marriage to Erma Lee Creasman in Columbia, Missouri. Following the war they lived in Higby and Yates, Missouri, moving to Kansas City in the early ‘50's. He began working for the Gas Service Company and retired as Transportation Forman on April 30, 1984. At that time they moved to their home near Warsaw.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George T. Bradley.

Bill is survived by his wife, Erma, of the home, two daughters, Linda Young, and her husband, Jim, of Grain Valley, Missouri, and Pat Brown, and her husband, Tad, of Preston, Missouri, four grandchildren, Dean Roberts, Jr. of Warsaw, Scott Tremain, of Smithville, Missouri, Jamie Lazono, of Raytown, Missouri, and Diana Maust, and her husband, David, of Grain Valley, six great-grandchildren, Kyle & Preston Tremain, Tricia & Dalton Troutman, and Zachary & Matthew Maust, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside funeral services and Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 10, 2004, at the New Home Cemetery near Warsaw with Evangelist Charles Rose officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.

Harlan Lee McGinnis
May 6th, 2004

Harlan L. "Mac" McGinnis, age 60, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away Thursday morning, May 6, 2004, at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri.

He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, on October 16, 1943, the son of Forest Edgar and Irene Emelia Engel Ahrenchild McGinnis.

He grew up in the Higginsville and Corder communities and graduated from Corder High School. He began working for General Motors Fairfax BOP Assembly Plant for about seven years, living in Kansas City, Kansas, and then Warrensburg. He then began a custom wheat harvest operation working fields in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.

On February 14, 2001, he was united in marriage to Brenda Lee Hibbard. Following their marriage they made their home in Warsaw.

In recent years, he has been the Executive Director of the Workforce Development Board in Sedalia, Missouri, working with thirteen counties in the central Missouri area, and was instrumental in obtaining the government grant monies for the development and beautification project of the downtown Warsaw Main Street.

Mac was preceded in death by his father, and one sister, Sue McGinnis.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home, five children, Shane Cooper, of Higginsville, Missouri, Kristine McDonell, of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Patrick McGinnis, of Waco, Texas, Joshua Wise, of Miami, Missouri, and Mackenzi Breshears, of Lincoln, Missouri, eight grandchildren ( two more, "on the way.") and one great-grandson. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Irene Brockman, of Concordia, Missouri, five brothers, Larry McGinnis, James McGinnis, and Ronald McGinnis, all of Concordia, David McGinnis, of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Roger McGinnis, of Waverly, Missouri, one daughter, Phyllis Thorpe, of Lexington, Missouri, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at the First Baptist Church in Warsaw with Rev. Larry Nail officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday evening at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.

Ethel Kumpf
April 30th, 2004

Ethel Kumpf, age 91, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 30, 2004, at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri.

She was born on July 13, 1912, in Camden County, Missouri, the daughter of Truman and Julia Ellis.

She grew up in Camden County, and on March 28, 1930, was married to Carl Kumpf at Kansas City, Missouri. Following their marriage, they made their home on a farm near Climax Springs, Missouri. They also had lived in the Windsor and Kansas City areas.

She was a member of the Windsor United Methodist Church of Windsor, Missouri.

Ethel was known for her cooking and could always make anything taste good. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Chester and two sisters, Inez and Lois.

Surviving is her devoted husband of 74 years, Carl, of the home, one son, Mike Kumpf and his companion, LaDonna, of Gladstone, two grandsons, Rob Kumpf and his wife, Melanie, of Lee’s Summit and Barry Kumpf and his wife, Laura, of Gladstone, two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Kaley Kumpf, a brother, Archie Ellis of the state of Arizona, three sisters, Lura Miller of Windsor, Flossie Whitworth of Climax Springs and Ann Smith of Springfield, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ethel Kumpf will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, May 3, 2004, at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial will be in the Grainer Cemetery near Climax Springs, Missouri. Body will lie in state after 8:00 A.M., Monday with family receiving friends an hour prior to services. Arrangements by Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Fred Huddleston
April 27th, 2004

Fred Huddleston age 93, of Warsaw, passed away Monday, April 26, 2004 peacefully at his home. He was born on October 17, 1910, at Argentine, Kansas, to William Huddleston and Catherine Devine Huddleston.

Fred married Ruby Lucille Ranft in 1928, sharing 61 years of marriage and four loving daughters, Dolores, Marlene, Darlene and Glenda. Fred loved his family and lived to see five generations.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, in 1989, three brothers, Earl, Bill and Charlie (Loren) Huddleston and his son-in-law, Jay L. Harris.

He is survived by his daughters, Dolores and her husband, Al Heider, of Richardson, Texas, Marlene Harris of Liberty, Missouri, Darlene Russell of Warsaw and Glenda and her husband, Bill Robertson of Warsaw, and one brother, Glenn Huddleston of Kansas City, Kansas, 17 grandchildren, Rick Heider, Ronnie and Mike Harris, Ray and Glenda Salinas, all of Kansas City, Cindy Harmon, Laurie, Mo., Debbie Blair, Cathy Schembri, both of Liberty, Dale Chandler, St. Louis, Mo., Rhonda Scofield, Ernie, Joseph and Eric Flores, all of Warsaw, Karla Rinehart, Denver, Colorado, Dyann Heider, Plano, Texas, Allan Heider, Richardson, Texas and Meredith Cowgill, Blue Springs, 27 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Fred started his career in Kansas City at Cudahy Packing Company in 1926 at age 16. He held many positions through the years. In 1950 he was transferred to Memphis as Superintendent of Cudahy Oil Refinery Division. In 1955, he left Cudahy and went to work for Wilson Packing Company in Chicago, retiring in 1974 from Wilson Meats in Kansas City, Kansas.

Upon retiring, Fred and his wife moved to their cabin in Teal Bead near Racket, Mo. They owned Huddleston’s Den Tavern in Racket. Later they moved the business to Huddleston’s Inn on Main Street in Warsaw. Fred was always entertaining guests and dancing any chance he could get. Fred and Lucille had many friends in Warsaw and Kansas City.

In 1984, they moved to their home in Warsaw. They were members of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Warsaw. Fred was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Jay Harris Council #8620. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and the eldest member of the council. He enjoyed working Friday nigh Bingo for 14 years and will be remembered as the "friendly little man behind the desk with a smile on his face."

Fred looked forward to his trips to the gambling boats in Kansas City. He was lucky on the slot machines and usually came back to Warsaw a winner. Any time he could talk his girls into going, they would head for the boats.

The family wishes to thank all of their friends who have kept our Dad, Brother and Grandpa in their thoughts and prayers.

Funeral Mass for Fred Huddleston will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 30, 2004, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Richard Colbert officiating. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Heider, Allan Heider, Ron Harris, Mike Harris, Ray Salinas, Ernie Flores, Joe Flores and Eric Flores. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at the Reser Funeral Home with the Knights of Columbus Honor Guard leading Rosary at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Fred Huddleston Memorial Fund at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Route 2, Box 2920, Warsaw, MO. Arrangements by Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Lena Chancellor
April 25th, 2004

Lena Chancellor, age 88, of Windsor, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2004, at the Windsor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Windsor, Mo.

She was born in Camden County, Missouri, on June 26, 1915, the daughter of David and Nellie Butts Crouch.

She grew up in Camden County and on March 19, 1938 was untied in marriage to Ben Chancellor in Sedalia, Missouri. They made their home on a farm near Climax Springs, later moving to Green Ridge, Missouri. There they owned and operated the Green Ridge Tavern for nine years. Later she worked at the Green Ridge Grocery and Locker for several years. In 1966, they moved to their farm in Windsor.

Lena enjoyed her garden and canning the fruits and vegetables she had grown. She also enjoyed sewing and usually every winter you could find her quilting.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben, on January 13, 1992, four brothers and four sisters.

Lena is survived by two sons, Carroll Chancellor of Windsor and Larry Chancellor, and his wife, Pamelia, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Lena Chancellor will be at 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Burial will be in the Climax Springs Cemetery.

Family will receive friends an hour prior to the services at the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Thomas Johnson
April 22, 2004

Thomas E. Johnson, age 54, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, at his home in White Branch Resort near Warsaw.

He was born on September 17, 1949, at Lake City, Iowa, the son of Earl and Marjorie Goettsch Johnson.

He had made his home in Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri. While living in Kansas City, Missouri, he was employed by Claycomo Ford Motor Plant as an assembly line worker, retiring after 30 years in April of 1998. Following his retirement he moved to White Branch near Warsaw.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Higginsville and the United Auto Workers Union # 249 of Kansas City, Missouri, and the White Branch Homeowners Association.

He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Johnson.

Surviving is his mother, Marjorie Johnson of Higginsville, one daughter, Jennifer Stuerke, and her husband, Scot, of Lee’s Summit, 2 grandchildren, Hannah and Laura Stuerke, also of Lee’s Summit, a brother, Don Johnson of Warsaw, four sister, Paula Corrie of Louisville, Kentucky, Patricia Siegmond, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Doris Ann Crumm of Higginsville and Barbara Johnson of Kannapolis, North Carolina, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Body was cremated. Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 2:00 P.M., May 8, 2004 at Grace United Methodist Church in Higginsville. Memorials may be made to the Twin Lakes Hospice. Arrangements by the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.

Erma A. Halterman
April 22, 2004

Erma A. Halterman, age 85, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, at the Lincoln Community Nursing Home in Lincoln, Missouri, where she had been a resident for the past four years.

She was born on January 9, 1919 at Brookfield, Missouri.

She grew up in Brookfield, and moved to Kansas City, where she made her home. She was employed as a seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Union for 23 years, retiring in 1981. Following retirement she moved to Warsaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Halterman, one son, Gerald Fields and three sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Herbert Halterman and his wife, Shirley, of Warsaw and Lloyd Halterman and his wife, Judy, of Buckner, Missouri, 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Cremation. A memorial services for family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lincoln Community Nursing Home. Arrangements by the Reser Funeral Home, Warsaw.
