He was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Brad David, Britt Michie, Aaron Edwards, Doug David, Ashley Saint, Phillip Singleton, Elizabeth Dixon, Allison Van Wormer, Joe Sardone, Sara Moore, and Jonathan Singleton. The blessings continue with 16 great grandchildren.

Bob was the second oldest child of OV and Helen Lorene (Midge) Singleton. His sisters, Betty Teeter and Joan Burton and his brother James Singleton are deceased.

He is survived by his youngest sister Judy Singleton of Sun City, Arizona, and his sister-in-law Karen Singleton of St. Louis. He enrolled at the University of Missouri and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Agricultural Engineering.

Mizzou is where Bob met Alma and they were married in Sept, 1948.

Their first child, Lynnette, was born before he had graduated, Lorene and the twins, Leah and Larry came quickly after with four children all within 4 years. The family moved to Troy, Missouri, when he was hired as an engineer for McDonnell Aircraft Co. and they also purchased and managed the Troy Hardware Store. As his responsibilities increased at McDonnell, the hardware store was sold. Lloyd, the youngest child, was born in 1960 and completed the five.

The entire family was involved in the First Baptist Church of Troy, Missouri, where Bob was ordained as a deacon. Bob also did graduate work in Industrial Engineering at Washington University as well as working as a Registered Land Surveyor.

A move to Chesterfield in 1963 meant leaving the small town and moving to the suburbs of St. Louis. For Bob, it also brought one of several promotions at McDonnell Aircraft to Asst to Vice President of Operations. Parkway Baptist Church was the center for much of the family’s activities and life. Bob served as a deacon in the church and also served on the Parkway School Board of Education.

Bob retired from McDonnell-Douglas in 1983 as the Director of Plant Engineering and he and Alma moved to Warsaw, Missouri, and built a home on the new Truman Lake. He wanted to be close to his parents in their final years. Not ready to be totally retired he worked part-time for the Benton County Health Department. In Warsaw, they were members of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and driving the boat as many of us learned how to water ski. A very large treehouse was a project that he built with his grandsons and enjoyed by all of the grandchildren when they visited.

Winters in Florida convinced them to move there permanently in 1997, where they were close to Lynnette and Lloyd. Bob was active in Bible Study, Financial Club, biking and discovered a talent for painting. He and Alma volunteered at Southlake Hospital for 11 years serving for over 2,500 hours. He was a Christian that loved the Lord and was always guided by the teachings of the Bible. His legacy as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather will live long and strong in his family.
