Nellie Clark
1909-1999
ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Nellie (Stottlemyer) Clark, 89, Anaheim, formerly of Spickard, Mo., died Sunday, July 4, 1999, at her home.
Born in Grundy County, Mo., on Dec. 4, 1909, Mrs. Clark had lived in Trenton, Mo., and Spickard before moving to California in 1950.
She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
On July 7, 1934, she married Gerald Clark in Trenton, Mo. He died in 1995.
Surviving: a daughter, Anna M. Minard, Riverside, Calif.; a son, Rev. Daniel E., West Chester, Pa.; a sister, Beulah Chandler, Independence, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
Service: 1 p.m. today, Resthaven Mortuary, Trenton. Burial: Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Trenton. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Hazel R. Combs
1911-1999
GRANT CITY, Mo. -- Hazel Rhodessa (Gibson) Combs, 88, Grant City, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at a health-care center in Grant City.
Born in North Bend, Neb., on Jan. 25, 1911, Mrs. Combs had been a resident of Grant City since 1958.
A homemaker, she was a graduate of the Fremont, Neb., high school. She was a member of the Grant City Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.
On July 5, 1928, she married Hobert R. Combs in Fremont. He died in March of 1999.
Mrs. Combs also was in death by her parents, James and Ida Gibson; three brothers, Earl, Harry and Charles Gibson; and five sisters, Mary Kingry, Ruth Best, Opal Gibson, Corrie Kappel and Vivian Rector; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving: a son, Warren, Lake Ozark, Mo.; three daughters, Ardath Yates, San Antonio, Texas, Althae Goodwin, St. Joseph, and Marilyn Thompson, Grant City; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Sunday, Baptist Church, Grant City. Burial: Allendale, Mo., Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home, Grant City.

Clara E. Crane
1906-1999
HIAWATHA, Kan. -- Clara E. (Boss) Crane, 93, Hiawatha, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at a health-care center in Hiawatha.
Born on a farm near Baker, Kan., south of Hiawatha, on March 17, 1906, Mrs. Crane was a lifelong resident of Brown County, Kan. She was reared and attended school in Baker.
She was a member of the Bethany United Church of Christ, Hiawatha, and a former member of the First United Methodist Church, Horton, Kan.
Mrs. Crane and her husband, Laurence, farmed near Horton for many years. He died in 1970. She moved into Hiawatha in the late 1980s.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Richard; her parents, Carl and Mary Boss; a sister, Emma Puvogel; and a brother, Ernest Boss.
Surviving: a daughter, Charlene Braley, De Soto, Kan.; a sister, Marie Ross, Hiawatha; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Bethany United Church of Christ, Hiawatha. Burial: Horton Cemetery. Visitation: 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, when the body will be taken to the church. Memorials may be made to the Bethany United Church of Christ Memorial Fund or Hiawatha Community Hospital in care of the funeral home, 519 N. First Street, Hiawatha, KS 66434.

Vivian P. Douglas
1919-1999
LIBERTY, Mo. -- Vivian Pauline (Todd) Douglas, 80, Liberty, formerly of Fillmore, Mo., died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Douglas had been a secretary and stenographer for the Farmers Home Administration of the United States Department of Agriculture in Kansas City for 34 years until retiring in 1973.
Born in Fillmore on Feb. 28, 1919, she moved to Liberty in 1939.
She was a member of the Liberty United Methodist Church; Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4043 and Knights of Pythian Sisters, both of Liberty; and Harmony Homemaker Extension Club.
On Sept. 19, 1941, she married Carl Douglas. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eva Todd; and an infant brother, Herbert Todd.
Additional survivors: four sisters, Frances Hurst and Imo Proffit, both of Savannah, Mo., Leota Scobee Lawson, Mo., and Nancy Edwards, Humboldt, Kan.; and three brothers, Bill and Larry Todd, both of St. Joseph, and Caryl Todd, Savannah.
The funeral service was held Thursday, July 8, at the Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home in Liberty. Burial was in the Hunter Cemetery at Rock Port, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Liberty Hospice.

Mary L. Gastineau
1916-1999
HAMILTON, Mo. -- Mary Louise (Murray) Gastineau, 83, Hamilton, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at a health-care center in Hamilton.
Mrs. Gastineau and her husband, Harold, had worked at the Ford Tractor and Implement Co. in Cowgill, Mo. Later she was a bank teller at the Cowgill branch of the Braymer, Mo., bank.
Born in the Easterville community near Kingston, Mo., on Feb. 2, 1916, she graduated from the Kingston high school. She had lived in Cowgill for most of her life until moving to Roswell, Ga., in 1986. She returned to Missouri in 1995.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cowgill.
Mrs. Gastineau was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Murray.
Surviving: her husband, Harold of the same health-care center in Hamilton; a son, Harold E., Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Bill Murray, Kingston; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, Kingston Cemetery. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today, at the Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. There is no scheduled family visitation.

E. Frances Holcomb
1912-1999
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- E. Frances (Driver) Holcomb, 87, Louisville, formerly of St. Joseph, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at a Louisville hospital.
Mrs. Holcomb retired as a manager for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.
Born in Iowa on Feb. 12, 1912, she was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church; and Fifth Wheel and Marathon Bridge Clubs, all of St. Joseph. She had been a national judge for the Sweet Adelines Quartets.
Mrs. Holcomb was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Sr., in 1972; and her parents, James and Ella Driver.
Surviving: a son, Dale Jr., Louisville; and two grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Family Funeral Care, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rolla G. Adams
1901-1999
ROCK PORT, Mo. -- Rolla Godfrey Adams, 98, Rock Port, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at a health-care center in Rock Port.
Mr. Adams farmed in Atchison County, Mo., from 1926 until retiring in 1967. Then he worked for the Rock Port Golf and Country Club for 12 years until his retirement.
Born in Moweaqua, Ill., on April 12, 1901, he attended rural schools in Kansas, Illinois and Missouri. He resided in Atchison County until moving into Rock Port in 1967.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Church of Christ in Rock Port.
On Jan. 29, 1925, he married E. Ivoree Knizley in Clarinda, Iowa. She died in 1987.
Mr. Adams also was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; a daughter, Lucile Adams; seven brothers; a sister; and a grandchild.
Surviving: a son, Donald C., Fairfax, Mo.; two daughters, Anna Wolf and Martha Smith, both of Rock Port; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. today, Church of Christ, Rock Port. Burial: Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port. Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ or Nutrition Center, both of Rock Port.

J.W. Bridgford Jr.
1920-1999
HAMILTON, Mo. -- J.W. "Bill" Bridgford Jr., 79, Hamilton, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Bridgford, a self-employed carpenter, was born in St. Joseph on June 26, 1920. He resided in Cameron, Mo., until moving to Hamilton in 1938.
He was a member of the Hamilton Federated Church.
Mr. Bridgford was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred, in 1985. Then on June 26, 1987, he married Mary Dolan in Chillicothe, Mo. She survives of the home.
He also was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Grace; three sisters; and a brother.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Jeannie P. Bolton, Pompano Beach, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Leanna Farmer and Linda Banks, both of Hamilton; a stepson, John Dolan, Hamilton; a brother, Leonard, St. Joseph; three sisters, Mary McMillan and Beverly Bledsoe, both of St. Joseph, and Virginia Schurlock, Odessa, Mo.; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. The body will be cremated following the service. Inurnment: at a later date, Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Clellia M. Galbreath
1915-1999
LATHROP, Mo. -- Clellia M. "Jean" (Smith) Galbreath, 83, Lathrop, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at a Liberty, Mo., hospital.
Born Nov. 7, 1915, in Hammond, Mo., Mrs. Galbreath, a homemaker, lived most of her life in the St. Joseph area until moving to Lathrop 15 years ago.
In 1983, she was married to J. Winfred Galbreath. He died in 1998.
Mrs. Galbreath also was preceded in death by her parents, James and Martha Smith.
Surviving: two stepsons, James W., Bolckow, Mo., and Gerald D., Beverly, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Mary A. McBain, Liberty; a sister, Lois Andrews, Lathrop; nine stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, at the Bailey Funeral Home, Lathrop.

Wilma J. Ganote
1939-1999
Wilma Jean (Paxton) Ganote, 59, St. Joseph, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born in Holt County, Mo., near Oregon, Mo., on Oct. 16, 1939, Mrs. Ganote lived most of her life in St. Joseph.
She was a homemaker and a member of the McCarthy Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Ganote was preceded in death by her husband, William, in 1991; her parents, Wesley and Jessie Paxton; three brothers, Lee, Allen and Delmer Paxton; a sister, Doris Lovelady; and a grandchild.
Surviving: two sons, James W., St. Joseph, and James A. of the home; two daughters, Mernia Ganote, St. Joseph, and Henrietta Ganote, Cookeville, Tenn.; two brothers, Jacob Paxton, Agency, Mo., and Ed Paxton, Weatherby, Mo.; two sisters, Murrell Clymer, Gower, Mo., and Marguerite Gillenwater, Mound City, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph. Burial: Benton Cemetery, Holt County. Family visitation: 6 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

Ronald P. Hagg
1931-1999
Ronald P. Hagg, 68, St. Joseph, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospice.
Mr. Hagg had been employed as a truck driver for Star Trans Trucking Co. of St. Joseph and farmed in the Graham, Mo., area.
Born in Bolckow, Mo., on Jan. 25, 1931, he was a resident of St. Joseph for 40 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Savannah, Mo.
Mr. Hagg was preceded in death by his father, Pierce I.
Surviving: a son, Dennis W., St. Joseph; two daughters, Ronna E. Farnsworth, St. Joseph, and Debbie L. Poe, Leavenworth, Kan.; his mother, Helen Hagg, Savannah; and four grandchildren.
Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. The body has been cremated. Private family inurnment: at a later date. Family visitation: one hour before the service at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to Hope House, 528 N. Eight St., St. Joseph, MO 64501.

Dorothy M. McMillen
1931-1999
KING CITY, Mo. -- Dorothy M. (Wall) McMillen, 68, King City, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, from injuries suffered in a two-car accident on Route E about a mile east of Savannah, Mo.
Mrs. McMillen was employed by Helen's Caf in King City for several years. Before that, she worked for the Pine View Manor Nursing Home in Stanberry, Mo.
Born in Andrew County, Mo., on June 6, 1931, she was a lifelong resident of the King City area.
She was a graduate of the King City high school and a member of the First Baptist Church in King City.
On April 28, 1952, she married Cap E. McMillen in Little Rock, Ark. He died in 1981.
Mrs. McMillen also was preceded in death by her father, Arch Wall.
Surviving: two sons, John W., Grandview, Mo., and Jay D., King City; two daughters, Linda K. and Pamela R. McMillen, both of Savannah; her mother, Verna P. Wall, Savannah; and two brothers, Ray D. Wall, Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Ronald L. Wall, St. Joseph.
Service: 2 p.m. Friday, Gibson Funeral Home, King City. Burial: King City Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the McMillen family in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 552, King City, MO 64463.

A. Maxine Poynter
1926-1999
A. Maxine Poynter, 73, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Miss Poynter, born in St. Joseph on June 28, 1926, was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wade Poynter; and her mother and stepfather, Veta and Otis Ping.
Surviving: two half brothers, Jack Ping, Orrick, Mo., and Richard Ping, St. Joseph; and a half sister, Thelma Callaway, St. Joseph.
The body has been cremated. There will be no visitation or service. The inurnment will be at a later date. Arrangements were by the Rupp Funeral Home in St. Joseph.
