LIBERTY, Mo. -- Betty Jo DeShon, 60, Liberty, formerly of Hamilton, Mo., died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at a North Kansas City, Mo. hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1938, in Hamilton, Mo., Miss DeShon had previously lived in Kearney and Kimberling City, Mo.
Miss DeShon was a former member of United Methodist Church in Hamilton, a member of the First Christian Church of Kearney, Mo. and the of the church's Christian Women's Fellowship.
Miss DeShon was preceded in death by her parents, C.C. Jr. and Lillian DeShon; and a brother, C.C. DeShon the III.
Survivors: a sister, Mary Rice, Dodge City, Kan.

Loretta T. Dunbar
1922-1999
PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. Loretta Teson "Bobbie'' Dunbar, 77, Prairie Village, formerly of St. Joseph, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at a Kansas City, Mo., hospital of cardiac complications following a lengthy illness of breast and lung cancer.
Mrs. Dunbar had been employed by Sears Roebuck and Co. in St. Joseph from 1956 to 1964.
Born in St. Joseph on Jan. 14, 1922, she was a longtime resident of St. Joseph prior to moving to Prairie Village in 1994.
She married Burton L. Dunbar Jr. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Dunbar also was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary L. Dick, Teresa Smolly, Virginia Johnson and Bertha Kasselhut.
Surviving: two sons, Burton L. III, Leawood, Kan., and Bruce, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

J. Carlyne Glore
1935-1999
J. Carlyne (Patterson) Glore, 63, St. Joseph, died Monday, July 12, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Glore had been a pyschiatric social worker at the St. Joseph State Hospital for 30 years until retiring in 1992.
Born in Little Rock, Ark., on July 28, 1935, she was a graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia, Mo., with a master's degree in social work. She had been a resident of St. Joseph since 1962.
Mrs. Glore was a former member of the Unity Church of Practical Christianity and Missouri Button Society.
On Sept. 30, 1961, she married George Glore in Fulton, Mo. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Glore was preceded in death by her father, Ray Patterson; and two brothers,

Rose Lake

Rose (Grippando) Lake, 78, St. Joseph, died Friday, July 2, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mrs. Lake had been employed as an aide by the former Arnold's Nursing Home in St. Joseph.
Born in Krebs, Okla., on Aug. 4, 1920, she had lived in St. Joseph for most of her life.
Mrs. Lake was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, in 1988; and by her parents, Basilo and Carmella Grippando.
Surviving: two brothers, John Grippando, St. Joseph, and Frank Grippando, Kansas City, Kan.

Elma B. Miller
1907-1999
SABETHA, Kan. Elma B. (Rowlett) Miller, 91, Sabetha, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at a Sabetha health-care center.
Born Aug. 18, 1907, at Maitland, Mo., Mrs. Miller attended 10 grades of school, upon the death of her mother she assisted in keeping the home together.
Mrs. Miller was a member Zion United Church of Christ of Salem, Neb. and Trintity Church of the Brethern in Sabetha, Kan. She was a member of JGP social club, and a charter member of Sabetha Saddle Club.
On March 19, 1932, she married Byron G. Miller. They lived in the Maitland area for several years before moving to Richardson County, Neb. They moved to Sabetha in 1989. He died in 1992.
Mrs. Miller also was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Maggie Rowlett, two sisters, one in infancy and Blance Griffith; four brothers, Lloyd, Lester, Elvin and Oren Rowlett.
Surviving: three daughters, JoAnn Bernhardt, Lincoln, Neb., Wanda Petty, Ukiah, Calif., and Karen Harris, Santa Clara, Calif.; a son, Rodney, Topeka, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Julie K. Morgan

SAVANNAH, Mo. Julie Kay (Johnson) Morgan, 36, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 59, north of Savannah, on Saturday evening.
Mrs. Morgan was employed by Express Personnel in St. Joseph. She had worked for the St. Joseph School District and for seven years at Peachtree Doors Inc. of St. Joseph.
Born in St. Joseph on Nov. 22, 1962, she had lived all of her life in St. Joseph and Savannah.
She attended Benton High School and received a bachelor's degree in business management and accounting from Missouri Western State College, both of St. Joseph. Mrs. Morgan was of the Catholic faith.
On May 12, 1990, she married Mark A. Morgan in Savannah. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her father, Andrew Johnson.
Additional survivors: a stepdaughter, Shawna Morgan, St. Joseph; her mother, Eileen Cox, St. Joseph; a brother, Mike Johnson, St. Joseph; and three sisters, Diane Salcedo, Cheryl Stansbury and Cheri Johnson, all of St. Joseph.

Charles L.R. Phelps Sr.
1932-1999
TARKIO, Mo. Charles Lee Roy Phelps Sr., 67, Tarkio, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at a health-car center in Rock Port, Mo.
Mr. Phelps had worked at Armour and Co. in St. Joseph and the Missouri Beef Packers of Rock Port. During the Korean War, he served in the Navy. Mr. Phelps also served in the Air National Guard from 1956 to 1968.
Born in St. Joseph on Feb. 9, 1932, he had lived in St. Joseph and moved to Fairfax, Mo., after his marriage. He moved to Duenweg, Mo., in 1977 and Tarkio in 1997.
On Oct. 10, 1964, he married Darlene M. LaFave in Marshalltown, Iowa. They were divorced.
Mr. Phelps was preceded in death by his father, Brian Phelps; his mother, Rhoda Phelps Asbury; his stepfather, James Asbury; and two brothers, Bud and James E.
Surviving: three sons, Curtis D., St. Louis, Mo., James E., Colorado Springs, Colo., and Charles L.R. Jr., New York City, N.Y.; a daughter, Shelly Graham, Tarkio; a sister, Coleen Moore, Joplin, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
Graveside memorial service and inurnment: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Tarkio Home Cemetery, with flag-folding ceremony by members of the Allen Schiffern American Legion Post No. 199, Tarkio. John L. Rider

FALLS CITY, Neb. John L. Rider, 76, Falls City, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Rider, a farmer, established a home north of Falls City and later moved to other farms in the area, retiring in 1997.
Born June 14, 1923, near Nemaha, Neb., Mr. Rider moved, with his parents, northeast of Falls City in 1936.
On May 14, 1942, he married Gladys Fisher in Hiawatha, Kan. She died in 1996.
Mr. Rider also was preceded in death by his parents George and Sarah V. Rider; a brother, George; a sister, Helen Turpin; a step-brother, Harry Fisher; and a step-sister, Mildred Fritz.
Surviving: a daughter, Evelyn Arnold, Falls City, Neb.; a sister, Irene Roe, Dorchester, Neb.; a niece raised in the home, Winnie Bristol, Fort Dodge, Iowa; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Verna Fletchall
1936-1999
GRANT CITY, Mo. -- Verna (Deardorff) Fletchall, 62, Grant City, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at a hospital in Albany, Mo.
Mrs. Fletchall, a homemaker, was an active volunteer with the American Cancer Society for 30 years.
Born Oct. 4, 1936, in Conway, Iowa, she lived in Grant City since 1956.
Mrs. Fletchall was a member of the Grant City Baptist Church.
On Aug. 17, 1959, she married Mervin O. Fletchall in Grant City, where he survives of the home.
Mrs. Fletchall was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wanda S.; her parents, Virgil Sr. and Pearl Deardorff; and four brothers, Virgil and Marion K. Deardorff, and infant twins Leslie and Wesley Deardorff.
Additional survivors: a son, Rex A., Agency, Mo.; a brother, Phillip Deardorff, Parnell, Mo.; three sisters, Barbara Deardorff, Bonnie Fletchall and Connie Asher, all of Clearfield, Iowa; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Herman C. Grogan

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Herman C. Grogan, 96, Kansas City, formerly of Lathrop, Mo., died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at a Kansas City hospital.
Mr. Grogan was a farmer and worked as a foreman at the E.L. McGinness Farms in Lathrop.
Born March 1, 1903, in Plattsburg, Mo., he lived in Lathrop most of his life before moving to Kansas City after his retirement.
Mr. Grogan was a member of the First Central Church of the Brethren, Kansas City.
On Sept. 30, 1924, he married Eva M. Wheat. She survives of the home.
Mr. Grogan was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Anna; and two brothers.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Norma Hiatt, Kansas City; a sister, Alberta Norris, Gower, Mo.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Donald L. Kretzschmar

CLARKSDALE, Mo. -- Donald L. Kretzschmar, 60, Clarksdale, formerly of St. Joseph, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Kretzschmar worked at Armour & Co. in St. Joseph for 25 years, and presently was working at St. Joseph Packaging.
Born May 5, 1939, in St. Joseph, he was a graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph. He served with the Army from 1964 to 1968.
Mr. Kretzschmar was a member of the Church of the Brethren, St. Joseph.
On Nov. 17, 1967, he married Shirley Nelson in St. Joseph, where she survives of the home.
Mr. Kretzschmar was preceded in death by his father, Jesse C.
Additional survivors: two sons, Mike Wingard, St. Joseph, and Scott Wingard, Clarksdale; a daughter, Carol Tudor, St. Joseph; his mother, Ethel, Louisburg, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

Harry B. Lamb

CAMERON, Mo. -- Harry Burton Lamb, 76, Cameron, formerly of Chillicothe and Galt, Mo., died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at a Cameron hospital.
Born July 14, 1922, in Chillicothe, Mo., he served with the Army during World War II and was employed at Trenton (Mo.) Foods.
Surviving: a sister, Neva Dittmar, Agency, Mo.; and a grandchild.
Graveside services were held Sunday at the Edgewood Cemetery in Chillicothe. Arrangements were by the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
Patricia L. Peak
1948-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Patricia L. "Pat" (Wilson) Peak, 51, Atchison, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at an Atchison hospital.
Mrs. Peak worked in Atchison with the late Nick Ramirez at Modern Beauty Salon and with the late Pearl Massey at the Cut-N-Curl Beauty Salon. Later, along with Julie Hegarty and Jeri Molt, she owned and operated the 3's Company Beauty Salon. For the past five years she operated from the Perfection Plus Beauty Salon.
Born April 23, 1948, in Atchison, she later moved with her family to Weston, Mo., where she graduated from Weston High School. She also was a graduate of St. Joseph Beauty College.
On April 11, 1969, she married Robert Peak in Atchison, where he survives of the home.
Mrs. Peak was preceded in death by her father, James Wilson.
Additional survivors: two sons, Steven, Liberty, Mo., and Kevin, Atchison; a daughter, Kylee, Atchison; a stepdaughter, Tammy Mercer, Atchison; her mother, Lorene Lohman, Atchison; two brothers, Richard Wilson, Atchison, and Daryl Wilson, Seymore, Ind.; a sister, Caroline Garton, Lancaster, Kan.; and a grandchild.
Service: noon Tuesday, First Baptist Church, Atchison. A private family graveside service and burial will be held at a later date at the Mount Bethel Cemetery in Weston. Family visitation: 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the church.
