MILWAUKEE -- Ruth Ann Malaney, 76, Milwaukee, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999, in Milwaukee.
Born in Milwaukee on Jan. 29, 1923, Mrs. Malaney, a homemaker, was a member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Milwaukee, and had been a volunteer for the Kidney Foundation and Leukemia Society, both in Milwaukee.
Surviving: four sons, Daniel, Michael, James and John; four daughters, Marilyn Hayes and Patricia Crowley, and Jeanne Murphy and Jerry Maki, both of St. Joseph; a brother, Roland Bogenberger; 29 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

June J. Miller
1919-1999
GOWER, Mo. -- June J. (Mizener) Miller, 79, Gower, formerly of Edgerton and St. Joseph, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Miller worked as a private duty nurse and later worked at Methodist Hospital from 1959 to 1975. She and her husband, Jesse, also owned and operated the original Miller's Grill in St. Joseph for many years retiring in 1980.
Born on Oct. 24, 1919, in Edgerton, she was a graduate of Edgerton High School. She later attended Northwest Missouri State College and graduated from Missouri Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in St. Joseph.
On Nov. 23, 1940, she married Jesse E. Miller in Princeton, Mo. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph, Kansas City and Edgerton. In 1956 they returned to St. Joseph and in 1979 they moved to Gower. He died in 1997.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Gower Christian Church, where she served on the mission committee. She also belonged to many bridge clubs in Gower.
Mrs. Miller also was preceded in death by her parents, Wilford H and Anna M. Mizener; and a sister, Mildred R. Mizener.
Surviving: two daughters, Janice S. Wilson, Gower, and Jill A. Miller, St. Joseph; three grandchildren, including Rob Wilson, with whom she made her home.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Hixon-Klein Funeral Home, Gower. Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower. Visitation: the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gower, (Mo.) Christian Church.
Harry A. Porter
Harry A. Porter, 67, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Porter had been employed in the construction industry for several companies in St. Joseph; at the Kerford Quarry in Atchison, Kan.; and as a custodian at Temple Adath Joseph in St. Joseph.
Born in Troy, Kan., on May 30, 1931, he spent most of his adult life in St. Joseph. He was a graduate of the former Bartlett High School in St. Joseph and was of the Christian faith.
On March 6, 1986, he married Shirley Cage in Las Vegas. She survives of the home.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by a son, Harry A. III; his parents, Harry A. Sr. and Charolette; and two brothers, Michael and Clifford.
Additional survivors: three sons, Lawrence C. and Lemuel Porter, both of Minneapolis, and Steven Enyard, Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Harriott Enyard, Omaha, and Kim Cruse, Denver; five sisters, Clara J. Jackson, St. Joseph, and Mary Timms, Barbra Jefferson, Fern and Carol Jo Porter, all of Seattle; numerous grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, Bullock Family Funeral Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral chapel.
Charles Preece
1942-1999
WEST BROMWICH, England -- Charles Preece, 56, West Bromwich, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Preece had been employed by Steel Parts in West Bromwich until retiring in 1995.
Born in West Bromwich on Feb. 22, 1942, he was a lifelong resident of that city. He graduated from St. Michael's Catholic School and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, both in West Bromwich.
Mr. Preece was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hilda.
Surviving: two sisters, Roseann Denbow, St. Joseph, and Margaret Shaw, West Bromwich.
A memorial service was held Friday, Feb. 5, at the George Webb Funeral Chapel in West Bromwich. The body was cremated.
Raymond R. Stitt
1920-1999
PATTONSBURG, Mo. -- Raymond R. Stitt, 78, Pattonsburg, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Stitt was a farmer and also worked at the Pattonsburg (Mo.) Cap Factory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emanuel and Lizzie; two brothers, Robert and Leslie; and four sisters, Leota Stitt, Elsie Russell, Opal Slaughter, and Ruth Yost.
Surviving: three sisters, Bonnie Johnson, Augusta, Ga., Norma Hudson, Trenton, Mo., and Imogene Cameron, St. Joseph.
Graveside service and burial: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oak Ridge Cemetery, Pattonsburg. Visitation: after 3 p.m. today at the Roberson Funeral Home, Pattonsburg, where the family will receive friends from 9 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.
L.R. Violett
1928-1999
L.R. Violett, 70, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at his residence.
For more than 50 years, Mr. Violett was a barber in the north St. Joseph area. He was appointed by former Gov. Warren E. Hearnes to the Missouri State Barber Board as vice-president and served 91/2 years.
Later he was appointed to the Urban Renewal Commission for one term, and to the Zoning and Planning Commission for three terms. He also served on the Crime Commission for four terms, State Prison Board for one term and the First Ward Committee for two terms.
Born in St. Joseph on Oct. 26, 1928, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
During World War II, Mr. Violett served in the Navy. He was a member of the Democratic Club in St. Joseph and in the State of Missouri; Brotherhood Lodge No. 269, A.F. & A.M.; High-Twelve Club No.49; Northwest Missouri Progressive Democrats and Missouri State Democratic Committee No. 1293.
On Jan. 17, 1954, he married Martha C. Tetherow. She survives of the home.
Mr. Violett was preceded in death by a son, L. Clay; and his parents, Lawrence R. and Mildred I.
Additional survivors a daughter, Catherine Offner, St. Joseph; a sister, Nancy Miller, Independence, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, in the auditorium at Lafayette High School, St. Joseph. The body has been cremated. Private family inurnment: Savannah, Mo., Cemetery. Mary C. Bertels
1901-1999
NORTONVILLE, Kan. - Mary Cecelia (Ubelaker) Bertels, 97, Nortonville, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at a hospital in Bloomington, Ind.
Mrs. Bertels, who had been a registered nurse, had worked at hospitals in Horton, Kan.; Dallas, Texas; Washington, D.C.; and Winchester and Atchison, Kan.; as well as, the Village Villa Nursing Home in Nortonville. She had been employed as a nurse until she was 88 years old.
Born in Willis, Kan., on Feb. 12, 1901, she was graduated from the Oskaloosa, Kan., high school and received her nurse's training from the Horton Hospital.
Mrs. Bertels was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Nortonville.
On Nov. 24, 1936, she married William A. Bertels in Mercier, Kan. He died in 1969.
Mrs. Bertels also was preceded in death by her parents, John and Frances Ubelaker; four brothers, Victor, Ernest, Clement and Henry Ubelaker; and two sisters, Frances Geiger and Helen Bunck.
Surviving: a daughter, Eulalia Fennessey, Springville, Ind.; a sister, Adeline Gilmore, Robinson, Kan.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Anna F. Brox
1914-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. - Anna F. (Libel) Brox, 85, Atchison, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at a health-care center in Atchison.
Born in Andale, Kan., on Feb. 3, 1914, Mrs. Brox attended schools in that area. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Good Intent, Kan., where she had been active in the Altar Society.
On Oct. 22, 1940, she married George W. Brox in Andale. They made their home near Atchison all their married lives. He died in 1993.
Mrs. Brox also was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Libel.
Surviving: a son, Harold, Virginia; a daughter, Louise Herndon, Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Joe Libel, Mount Hope, Kan.; and four grandchildren.

Leonard J. Elliott
1927-1999
AMAZONIA, Mo. - Leonard J. Elliott, 71, Amazonia, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Elliott had been employed by Swift and Co. in St. Joseph for 21 years. He also had worked as a maintenance engineer for the former St. Joseph Hospital, which later became Heartland Health System, and Missouri Western State College, both of St. Joseph, for nine years until retiring in 1994. He was still working for the college as a consulting engineer. He also had worked for Bill Bethel Plumbing and Jim Gray Home Builders, both of St. Joseph.
Born near Halls, Mo., on March 9, 1927, he had lived most of his life in Amazonia. He attended schools in Amazonia and Savannah, Mo., and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Elliott attended the Eastside Baptist Church, St. Joseph, and was a former city councilman in Amazonia.
On June 25, 1948, he married Mary E. Hollenbach. They were later divorced. Then in October of 1998, he married Mary Leedom. She died in January of 1999.
Mr. Elliott also was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L.; his parents, Charles M. and Sylvia; and two brothers, Clarence and John P.
Surviving: a son, Steven L., Amazonia; a daughter, Jane O'Connor, St. Joseph; two brothers, David, Savannah, and Harold, Lansing, Ill.; four sisters, Helen McCush, Amazonia, Lila Harvey, St. Joseph, Arda Eberhart, Springfield, Mo., and Virginia Hinkle, Fortescue, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Naomi (Delgado) Jambrosic, 67, Kansas City, Kan., formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at a Kansas City, Kan., hospital.
Mrs. Jambrosic had been employed as a secretary for the Piper West Elementary School in Piper, Kan., for 21 years until retiring in 1996.
Born in St. Joseph on Sept. 3, 1931, she was a graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph and a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Jambrosic was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P., in 1976; her parents, Guadalupe and Francisca Delgado; and a half brother, Octaviano Delgado.
Surviving: a son, Robert, Merriam, Kan.; four daughters, Valerie Anzicek and Elaine Jambrosic, both of Kansas City, Kan., Lise' Heon, Leavenworth, Kan., and Nicole Jambrosic, Mission, Kan.; four brothers, Lionel Delgado, Phoenix, Ariz., Reuben Delgado, Yuma, Ariz., and David and Moses Delgado, both of St. Joseph; four sisters, Alejandrina Vera, Phoenix, Delia Garcia, Kansas City, Mo., Linda Sherman, St. Joseph, and Maria Colwell, Valdosta, Ga.; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 2, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kan. Burial was in the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, Kan. Mary L. Lindelof

KANSAS CITY - Mary L. (Frossard) Lindelof, 81, Kansas City, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at a North Kansas City, Mo., hospital.
Born in Greenfield, Mo., on March 5, 1917, Mrs. Lindelof had lived in St. Joseph for several years prior to moving to Kansas City in the early 1950s.
She was a former member of the Rebecca Lodge in St. Joseph and was of the Baptist faith.
On Jan. 3, 1938, she married Carl B. Lindelof in Long Beach, Calif. He died in 1978.
Mrs. Lindelof also was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Frossard and Clara Frossard Dhabolt.
Surviving: a daughter, Melanie Richardson, Kansas City; two brothers, Clarence F. Frossard, Alpharetta, Ga., and Jessie B. Frossard, Smyrna, Ga.; a sister, Rosalie A. Butcher, Kansas City; and a grandchild.

Violet M. McCrary

GALLATIN, Mo. - Violet Mae (David) McCrary, 83, Gallatin, formerly of St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at a health-care center in Gallatin.
Born in Copan, Okla., on Jan. 11, 1916, Mrs. McCrary was reared in Copan and later in Cherryvale, Kan., where she was graduated from high school.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jameson, Mo.
In 1950, she married Donald McCrary in Hamilton, Mo. They lived in St. Joseph prior to moving to Daviess County, Mo., north of Gallatin, in 1958. He died in 1982.
Mrs. McCrary also was preceded in death by a son, Chester Robinson; her parents, William E. and Mary E. David; and a brother, Charles G. David.
Surviving: three sons, Charles E. McCrary, Maryville, Mo., and Gary and David Robinson; two daughters, Marilyn Davis and Eunice Robinson; two stepsons, Cecil D. McCrary, Jamesport, Mo., and Lawrence E.

PLATTSBURG, Mo. - John Henry Mick Sr., 65, Plattsburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at a health-care center in Plattsburg.
Mr. Mick had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Everett Quarries in Plattsburg. He also had served in the Navy.
Born in Holt, Mo., on Oct. 29, 1933, he moved to Plattsburg early in his life and attended schools there. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plattsburg.
Mr. Mick was preceded in death by his parents, Oza L. and Lorine; two brothers, Donald and Herman; and a sister, Geraldine Becker.
