Clifford Case

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Clifford Case, 97, Chillicothe, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at the Liberty, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Case farmed and was in business and real estate in Livingston and Grundy counties, Mo.
Born in Champagne, Ill., on Jan. 11, 1902, he was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Chillicothe. He was active in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Grand River Historical Society, both of Chillicothe.
On Sept. 13, 1925, he married Neelie Burns in Jamesport, Mo. She died in 1988.
Mr. Case also was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary; and three sisters and three brothers.
Surviving: several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Annie L. Doan
1910-1999
Annie L. (Thornton) Doan, 88, St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital following a lengthy illness.
Born in Oregon, Mo., on April 12, 1910, Mrs. Doan lived there until moving in 1926 to St. Joseph, where she spent most of her life.
Mrs. Doan was a member of the Baptist faith, Women's International Auxiliary and CWA No. 14615 chapter of the International Typographical Union.
On Feb. 25, 1932, she married John H. Doan Sr. in St. Joseph. He died in 1976.
Mrs. Doan also was preceded in death by her parents, Roy E. and Louise E. Thornton; a brother, Wayne Thornton; and a sister, Alta Heick.
Surviving: two sons, John H., Jr., Mount Prospect, Ill., and Daniel L., Golden, Colo.; a sister, Carol Bruns, St. Joseph; a brother, S.F. Thornton, St. Joseph; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Harold G. Dowell
1937-1999
Harold G. Dowell, 61, St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Dowell was employed by Farmland Industries for 20 years. Before that, he worked for Public Finance as a loan officer and was an insurance agent for the National Life Insurance Co.
Born in St. Joseph on Feb. 27, 1937, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School.
Mr. Dowell was a member of Mitchell Park Christian Church, where he served on the board of directors, was an elder and taught Sunday school classes.
On May 16, 1956, he married Mary L. Claycomb in Stewartsville, Mo. She survives of the home.
Mr. Dowell was preceded in death by a son, Kevin L.; his father, Leo M.; two brothers, Jerry M. and Richard E.; and a grandchild.

Harris, both of St. Joseph; two sons, Jeff D. and Curtis R., both of St. Joseph; his mother and stepfather, Ruth and Lawrence Butterfield, St. Joseph; three brothers, Roger D. Dowell, St. Joseph, Fred Martindale, Tulsa, Okla., and Lonnie R. Dowell, Odessa, Texas; two sisters, Virginia L. Merritt, Savannah, Mo., and Linda S. Lewellen, St. Joseph; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Nelle Hegeman
1904-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Nelle (Sommer) Hegeman, 94, Savannah, formerly of Cosby, Mo., and St. Joseph, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah following a brief illness.
Born in Cosby on March 6, 1904, Mrs. Hegeman lived in Cosby most of her life. She also resided in St. Joseph from 1955 until 1993.
She was a member of the Hope United Church of Christ, Cosby, where she was a member of the Women's Fellowship and choir. Mrs. Hegeman was a charter member of Cosby chapter No. 145, Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a past worthy matron and past grand representative. She was a former Gray Lady of the American Red Cross and a former member of the Needles of Moila in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Hegeman was preceded in death by her husband, Harry F., in 1981; a daughter, Virginia N. Hegeman; her parents, Louis and Sophia Sommer; two sisters, Rose Hanni and Alma Sommer; and five brothers, Carl, Arnold, William, Alfred and Phillip Sommer.
Surviving: a son, Donald J., Cosby; a daughter, Violet M. Dickson, Springfield, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Charles W. Hinkle Sr.
1923-1999
Charles Wayne Hinkle Sr., 75, St. Joseph, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at his home following a lengthy illness.
For 40 years, Mr. Hinkle was a supervisor for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. until retiring in 1985. During World War II, he served in the Navy.
Born in St. Joseph on June 27, 1923, he resided in St. Joseph for most of his life.
Mr. Hinkle was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder; and Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He was active in Boy Scouts of America as a leader and coached basketball teams.
In June of 1990, he married Marjorie M. Jung. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hinkle was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Darlene L. Howlier, in 1988; and his parents, Charles G. and Vergie.

Halter, Port Orchard, Wash.; two grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren.

Eugene F. Hurd
1921-1999
Eugene F. Hurd, 77, St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Hurd was employed by Armour and Co. in St. Joseph for 37 years until retiring when it was closed. During World War II, he served in the Army.
Born in St. Joseph on June 29, 1921, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. He was a member of the Souls Harbor Church.
On Oct. 9, 1942, he married Betty White in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hurd was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara; four brothers, Doc, Joseph, Nate and Andrew; and two sisters, Areitta Gross and Lettie Marriott.
Additional survivors: three sons, David, Denny and Joe, all of St. Joseph; and seven grandchildren.

Rex L. Jewett
1908-1999
Rex Leroy Jewett, 90, St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mr. Jewett was a self-employed accountant and bookkeeper, retiring in 1982.
Born in Winfield, Kan., on June 11, 1908, he spent most of his life in St. Joseph.
He was a member of the Francis Street First United Methodist Church; Moila Wrecking Crew, of which he held offices and stations; Brotherhood Lodge No. 269, A.F.&A.M.; and York Rite Bodies.
On Nov. 11, 1936, he married Mary E. Jones in St. Joseph. She died in 1989.
Mr. Jewett also was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Grace; and a sister, Mary Jeffries.
Surviving: several nieces and nephews, including niece, Sharon Patton, St. Joseph, who cared for him.

E. Pearl Morrison
1921-1999
SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Edna Pearl (Thurman) Morrison, 78, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah.
Mrs. Morrison was a sewing machine operator for the former Big Smith clothing manufacturer in St. Joseph for 18 years until retiring in 1973. She also worked at the Chase Candy Co. and as a seamstress for Ely Walker, both of St. Joseph.
Born in Worth County, Mo., on Feb. 6, 1921, she moved to St. Joseph in 1942 and Savannah in 1996.
She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the women's group; and Big Smith Retired Employees Club, all of St. Joseph.
On Sept. 17, 1938, she married Harold E. Morrison in Troy, Kan. He survives in Savannah.
Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ella Thurman; three brothers, Archie L., Marion and David Thurman; and a sister, Viola Knight.
Additional survivors: three daughters, Retha F. King, Beulah M. Morrison and Justina F. Hammond, all of St. Joseph; two brothers, Paul Thurman, Hatfield, Mo., and John Thurman, Grant City, Mo.; two sisters, Dorothy Fountain, Martinsville, Mo., and Maxine Burton, Gentry, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Hanna M. Nold

Hanna M. (Renschler) Nold, 96, St. Joseph, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Nold was employed by the former Western Tablet Co., now Mead Products, in St. Joseph.
Born in Chillicothe, Mo., on Oct. 19, 1902, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. She was a member of the Marvin McMurry United Methodist Church.
On March 7, 1929, she married William R. Nold. He died in 1985.
Mrs. Nold also was preceded in death by her parents, Guy L. and Mary Ellen Renschler.
Surviving: a daughter, Marylou Castle, St. Joseph; a brother Lester Renschler, Ponca City, Okla.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Mary A. Norris
1910-1999
ANKENY, IOWA, -- Mary Alice (Sexton) Norris, 88, Ankeny, formerly of Weston, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at a Des Moines, Iowa, hospital.
Born on Oct. 19, 1910, in Peasticks, Ky., Mrs. Norris, a homemaker, moved to from Weston to Ankeny in 1964. She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church in Weston.
On March 31, 1928, she married Elmer Norris Sr. He is deceased.
Mrs. Norris also was preceded in death by a daughter and infant twins; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Sexton; and two sisters and a brother.
Surviving: two sons, Granville and Elmer Jr. both of Ankeny; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

E. Eugene Parsons
1946-1999
WESTBORO, Mo. -- Everett Eugene "Gene" Parsons, 53, Westboro, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at a Kansas City, Kan., hospital.
Mr. Parsons worked for the Stave Boat Mill in Mountain Grove, Mo., and then for the Missouri Beef Packers at Rock Port, Mo., from 1980 to 1986. He farmed for John Currier in the Tarkio, Mo., area from 1986 to 1992 and worked at a saw mill in Hartville, Mo.
Born in Mountain Grove on Jan. 3, 1946, he moved from there to Tarkio in 1980, to Hartville in 1992 and to Westboro in 1997.
He attended schools in Mountain Grove and attended the Hartville Assembly of God Church.
On March 3, 1965, he married Ruby D. Volner in Mountain Grove. They were later divorced. Then on May 10, 1997, he married Linda S. Price. She survives of the home.
Mr. Parsons was preceded in death by his father, David H.

Moore, and Brenda and Barbara Volner, all of Hartville, and Ruth A. Price, Mountain Grove; and 12 grandchildren.

Wilma Wandfluh

SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Wilma (Eisiminger) Wandfluh, 90, Savannah, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah.
Born near Savannah on March 26, 1908, Mrs. Wandfluh lived in the Savannah area all of her life. She attended Savannah schools and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Amazonia, Mo.; and Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Jolly Music Makers, both of Savannah.
On Aug. 28, 1929, she married Herbert C. Wandfluh Sr. in Amazonia. He died in 1981.
Mrs. Wandfluh also was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Emma Eisiminger; two brothers, Tom and Jake Eisiminger; and four sisters, Nellie Mooney, Anna Capehart, Hazel Reno and Marie Eckart.
Surviving: two sons, Herbert C. Jr., St. Joseph, and Donald, Central City, Neb.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
