Henry F. Stapel
1906-1999
ATLANTA -- Henry F. "Hank" Stapel, 92, Atlanta, formerly of Rock Port, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at an Atlanta health-care center.
Mr. Stapel was employed by Farmer's Mutual Insurance and the Atchison County Mail, both of Rock Port. He also was elected post master for Rock Port in 1939 and held the position for many years.
Mr. Stapel was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, Community Club and Golf Club, all of Rock Port.
Born May 4, 1906, in Rock Port, he lived there until 1991, when he moved to Atlanta. He was a graduate of Rock Port High School, Midland Lutheran College, Fremont, Neb., and the University of Missouri-Columbia.
In June 1929, he married Wilma M. Sharp. She died in 1940. He later married Teresa Mueller in July 1942. She died in 1991.
Mr. Stapel also was preceded in death by his parents, Henry F. and Anna; a sister, Frieda Cox; and a brother, John C.
Surviving: a daughter, Ann Stapel-Strauss, Atlanta; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Ted Tedrick

LAREDO, Mo. -- Ted Tedrick, 67, Laredo, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a Trenton, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Tedrick was employed by Donaldson Co., Chillicothe, Mo., for more than 18 years.
He was a member of the Laredo Baptist Church.
Born Sept. 15, 1931, in Des Moines, Iowa, Mr. Tedrick moved to Laredo in 1963 and spent most of his life in the Grundy County, Mo., area since.
On Sept. 19, 1953, he married Jo Ann Burger in Des Moines. She survives of the home.
Mr. Tedrick was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Elizabeth; a brother; and a sister.
Additional survivors: two sons, Rodney, Chillicothe, and Jason, Laredo; six daughters, Marty Tedrick, Emmett, Idaho, Della Sainsbury, Trenton, Reva Tedrick, Pilpot, Ky., Jodie Leaverton, Ciblo, Texas, Kelli Sethman, Laredo, and Sheelia Higinbothom, Olathe, Kan.; a brother, David Lumley, Macdoel, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Nicole M. Curtis, 23, St. Joseph, formerly of Cameron, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital due to complications associated with pneumonia.
Born April 7, 1975, Miss Curtis lived most of her life in Cameron and was a graduate of Cameron High School.
Surviving: her parents, Sheila and Clarence, Cameron; a brother, Joseph, Cameron; two foster brothers, Jerry and Johnathon Masson, both of Cameron; and a sister, Erica, Cameron.

Harold D. Davis Jr., 28, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Mr. Davis was employed at Wire Rope Corp., St. Joseph, for 10 years.
He was a member of Deer Park Grace United Methodist Church, St. Joseph.
Born March 1, 1970, in St. Joseph, Mr. Davis was a graduate of Central High School, St. Joseph.

TRENTON, Mo. -- Gertie M. (Humphreys) Emmons, 79, Trenton, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a Trenton health-care center.
Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Humphreys, Mo., Mrs. Emmons lived most of her life in Grundy, Sullivan and Mercer counties, Mo.
Mrs. Emmons was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Trenton.
On Aug. 13, 1965, she married Ernest Emmons in Galt, Mo. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Emmons also was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Bennett; her parents, William and Irene Humphreys; two brothers; and a sister.
Surviving: two daughters, Sharon Wisner, Trenton, and Deborah Pikulski, Houston; a sister, Mary J. McKay, Hamilton, Ill.; three brothers, Dale Humphreys, Monrovia, Calif., Jerry Humphreys, Las Vegas, and Dickie Humphreys, Humphreys, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ralph Foltz
1909-1999
PECULIAR, Mo. -- Ralph Foltz, 89, Brookfield, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at the home of his daughter in Peculiar.
Mr. Foltz worked as a division lineman for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1974 after 47 years of service.
Born Aug. 12, 1909, Bucklin, Mo., he was a member of the Park Baptist Church, Brookfield. He also was a member of the Chicago region of Burlington Northern Veterans and a member of I.B.E.W. Local No. 547.
On April 15, 1930, he married Dorothy Eddington. She died in 1995.
Mr. Foltz also was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ida; a sister, Daisy Reams; and two brothers, Ernest and Elmer.
Surviving: a son, Carl, Kansas City; two daughters, Sherril Nevins, Kansas City and Jan Stella, Peculiar; a sister, Helen Frock, Laclede, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Minnie E. Hanks

PLATTSBURG, Mo. -- Minnie E. Hanks, 98, Plattsburg, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a Plattsburg health-care center.
Miss Hanks, a graduate of Plattsburg High School, attended Northwest Missouri State University-Maryville and the University of Missouri-Columbia. She later attended Central Business College, Kansas City and was employed as a legal secretary in Kansas City. In 1935, she accepted a civil service position in Washington, D.C. and continued that employment for eight years. During that time, Miss Hanks attended law school and received a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1939 and a Master of Laws degree in 1941 from National University School, Washington, D.C., now part of George Washington School of Law. Upon examination, she was admitted to practice law in Missouri in 1942 and practiced in Plattsburg from 1960 to 1994.
Miss Hanks was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church, Plattsburg. She also was a member of the Clinton County (Mo.) Historical Society and the Bicentennial Committee of Clinton County.
Miss Hanks was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Ida; and two brothers.
Surviving: cousins.

Roger A. Hegarty

KANSAS CITY -- Roger Allen Hegarty, 68, Kansas City, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Hegarty was born, July 9, 1930, in St. Joseph.
On July 16, 1957, he married Jessamine Wallace. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hegarty was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Alice; a sister, Marylynn Bartlett; and a brother, Robert.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Blair Caudill, Leawood, Kan.; two sons, R. Cort, St. Joseph, and Hodge W., Kansas City; a sister, Alison Randall, Kansas City; and seven grandchildren.

OMAHA, Neb. -- Mary Louise Lorenz, 92, Omaha, formerly of St. Joseph, died Saturday, February 13, 1999, at an Omaha health-care center.
Born April 2, 1906, in St. Joseph, where she spent her youth, Miss Lorenz was later employed with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co., St. Joseph. She transferred with the company to Omaha in 1936, serving as office manager for 36 years, retiring in 1968.
She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Omaha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Lorenz; and three brothers, Joseph E., Robert, and Eugene.
Surviving: a sister, Sister Laurentine Lorenz C.S.J., St. Louis.

Olive J. Martin

Olive J. (Beyers) Martin, 77, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at her home.
Born March 6, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., Mrs. Martin was a graduate of St. Patrick Catholic School and Convent of the Sacred Heart, both of St. Joseph.
Mrs. Martin was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, St. Joseph Uptown Lioness Club, American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 359, Convent of the Sacred Heart Alumni and Prime Investment Club, all of St. Joseph.
On March 1, 1946, she married Cleo T. Martin in St. Joseph. Together they were owner-operators of the Y Motel in St. Joseph. She retired in 1984, after 29 years of service. Her husband, Cleo, died in 1990.
Mrs. Martin also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph E. and Catherine Beyers; three brothers, Joseph, Richard and Leo Beyers; and two sisters, Mary A. Olszewski and Lucille Mayse.
Surviving: two brothers, Albert T. Beyers, Bristol, Wis., and John C. Beyers, Cerritos, Calif.

Cleo B. Morrison

ATCHISON, Kan. -- Cleo B. (Winchel) Morrison, 76, Atchison, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at an Atchison hospital.
Mrs. Morrison was employed as a teacher's aide for the special education of handicapped children in Oklahoma City from 1967 to 1976.
Born Nov. 28, 1922, in Peculiar, Mo., she attended Doniphan, Kan., Grade School and Atchison public schools.
Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Atchison Hospital Auxiliary.
On Nov. 22, 1961, she married Ray S. Morrison in Miami, Okla. After their marriage, they moved to Euless, Texas. In 1964, they moved to Oklahoma City and lived there until moving to Atchison in 1976. Her husband, Ray, survives of the home.
Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Winchel; her mother, Lillian Winchel; and her stepfather, William Pike.
Additional survivors: three sons, Robert Bullard, Walker, La., and Mike Green and Gregory Morrison, both of Atchison; two stepsons, Carey, Elgin, Okla., and Gary, Wakita, Okla.; two daughters, Susan Hungerford, Arlington, Texas, and Trudy Crosswhite, Atchison; a step-daughter, Vonnie Stoia, Menlo Park, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Regis J. Phillips

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Regis J. Phillips, 67, Springfield, formerly of Seneca, Kan., died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, due to an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Phillips joined the Air Force at the age of 17, serving moe than 20 years. He served in Europe, Vietnam, and several other countries. After his discharge, he owned and operated auto parts stores in Kansas City, Gladstone, Platte City, Springfield and Rogersville, Mo. He also had an electrical company in Springfield.
Born May 1, 1931, in Seneca, Mr. Phillips attended SS. Peter & Paul School there.
In 1952, he married Mary T. Nadeau, in Caribou, Maine. They were later divorced.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Clara C.
Surviving: a daughter, Sharon Rhynerson, Ballwin, Mo.; four brothers, Fr. Walter, Ogallala, Neb., Leonard, Bankston, Iowa, Arthur, New Vienna, Iowa, and Lyle, Leawood, Kan.; three sisters, Vera Knudson and Zita Bergman, both of Seneca, and Elda M. Haverkamp, Wetmore, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Wannie F. Rightsell

WATSON, Mo. -- Wannie Faye (Mounce) Rightsell, 85, Watson, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at a Fairfax, Mo. hospital.
Born May 4, 1913, in Salem, Mo., Mrs. Rightsell was a member of Watson Baptist Church. She also was a Sunday school teacher there.
On July 19, 1930, she married Coy Rightsell in Rock Port, Mo. Together they farmed in the Watson area. Her husband, Coy, survives of the home.
Mrs. Rightsell was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Clemmie Mounce; four brothers, Ralph, Earl, Clarence, and George Mounce; and two sisters, Minnie Mounce and Cleadith Strange.
Additional survivors: a son, Edward, Watson; two brothers, Wilson Mounce, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and James Mounce, Nebraska City, Neb.; two sisters, Irene Owen, Truth or Consequences, N.M., and Hazel Mead, Yuma, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
