Joseph J. Habeeb
1923-1999
Joseph J. Habeeb, 75, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Habeeb worked for the Green Hills Supermarket for 16 years and then purchased a market at 33rd Street and Mitchell Avenue, which he named Habeeb's Market. The market later moved to South Leonard and Pickett roads.
He also had been a postmaster in Chinchilla, Pa., from 1949 to 1954. He received a special recognition as postmaster from the late President Harry S. Truman.
Born in Scranton, Pa., on Sept. 28, 1923, he spent most of his life in St. Joseph. He attended Princeton University during his military service and served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Habeeb was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was a volunteer at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was active in Little League Baseball in St. Joseph.
On Oct. 3, 1949, he married Dee Dawaliby in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Habeeb was preceded in death by his parents, Abraham and Mary; and three sisters.
Additional survivors: three sons, Joey, Dallas, Jim, Kansas City, and Bill, Los Angeles; two brothers, Fred and Robert, both of Clarks Summit, Pa.; five sisters, Nellie Iyoob, Alice McDonald and Mamie Habeeb, all of Scranton, Josie Ferris, Fort Worth, Texas, and Freida Dillio, Doylestown, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

Roney A. Haden
1912-1999
Roney A. Haden, 86, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Haden was employed as a chief negotiator for the Missouri State Highway and Transportation Department for many years until retiring in 1977.
Born in St. Joseph on Dec. 30, 1912, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Missouri- Columbia, where he was a member of the Pershing Rifles.
Mr. Haden was a member of the 17th Street congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; Charity Lodge No. 331, A.F. & A.M.; 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; Moila Shrine Temple and Northwest Missouri Model Railroaders Club.
In August of 1957, he married Lily Riepen in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Haden was preceded in death by his parents, Roney A. Sr. and Jenny M.
Additional survivors: a son, Roney L., Jefferson City, Mo.; two stepsons, Rodney M. Riepen, Whittier, Calif., and Rex C. Riepen, Sydney, Australia; a grandchild; and a stepgrandchild.

Mildred L. Lemaster
1905-1999
KING CITY, Mo. -- Mildred L. (Simmons) Lemaster, 93, King City, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a health-care center in King City.
Born northwest of King City on Oct. 8, 1905, Mrs. Lemaster had lived in Lone Wolf, Okla., for 16 years before returning to King City in 1943.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church, King City, where she was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship.
On Sept. 29, 1927, she married Raymond F. Lemaster in King City. He died in 1988.
Mrs. Lemaster also was preceded in death by her parents, Rube and Daisy Simmons; and three brothers, Wilbur, Carl and Alwyn Simmons.
Surviving: three daughters, Pauline Spiking, King City, Rosemary Tunks, Savannah, Mo., and Karen Jacobsen, Kingman, Ariz.; a sister, Fern Spainhower, King City; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Conrad L. Morris
1925-1999
Conrad L. "Connie" Morris, 73, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Morris was employed by the Beaty Grocery Co. and Affiliated Foods as the traffic manager for 43 years until retiring in 1990.
Born in St. Joseph on April 18, 1925, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School, St. Joseph Junior College and University of Missouri-Columbia.
Mr. Morris was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church, where he was an elder and coached softball for the church league; Moila Shrine Temple; Charity Lodge No. 331, A.F. & A.M.; Mitchell chapter No. 14, Royal Arch Masons; St. Joseph Council No. 9, Cryptic Masons; Hugh de Payens Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar; High-Twelve Club No. 49, of which he was a past president; original Moila Cyclists; Downtown Optimist Club; Y.M.C.A. and Y-Fry Club.
On Sept. 12, 1953, he married Virginia M. Frans in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Morris was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly A. Allert; and his parents, Charles and Rosalie.

Pat Perkins
1926-1999
PRINCETON, Mo. -- Pat Perkins, 72, Princeton, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at a hospital in Columbia, Mo.
Mr. Perkins and his wife, Betty, had been the owners and operators of the Perkins Grocery in Princeton for more than 30 years. He also had worked for the Princeton Farm Supply Co. for 10 years, Taylor Equipment Co. of Princeton for five years, Mercer County Co-op and Princeton RV School District.
Born in Lineville, Iowa, on Aug. 23, 1926, he also had worked and rode for the Sears Rodeo Co. of Lineville for nine years. During World War II, he served in the Army.
On April 13, 1958, he married Betty Roberts. She died in 1998.
Mr. Perkins also was preceded in death by his parents, Peter C. and Margaret E.; two brothers, Kelly and Arlo; a sister, Virginia Perkins; a half sister, Kate Wilkie; and a half brother, Keith Hayden.
Surviving: a daughter, Barbara Berry, Princeton; two sons, Glenn Wolf, Argyle, Iowa, and Larry Wolf, Ottumwa, Iowa; a brother, Jimmie, Unionville, Mo.; a sister, Darlene Smith, Greenville, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Della L. Sherer
1930-1999
GRANT CITY, Mo. -- Della Louise (Bainum) Sherer, 68, Grant City, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a Gentry County, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. Sherer, a homemaker, also worked at the Pixie Shop in Grant City for six years. Born July 24, 1930, in Sheridan, Mo., she was a graduate of the Sheridan high school. She moved to Grant City in 1954.
Mrs. Sherer was a member of the Grant City Christian Church.
On Sept. 30, 1961, she married George L. Sherer in Sheridan. He died in 1995.
Mrs. Sherer also was preceded in death by her parents, Glee and Essie Bainum; and a brother, Martin Bainum.
Surviving: three daughters, Debora Sherer, Cainsville, Mo., and Vonda Sherer and Lola Claypool, both of Grant City; a brother, John W. Bainum, Sheridan; and two grandchildren.

Jack L. Smith

Jack L. Smith, 54, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Smith had been employed in the construction industry in the St. Joseph area. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
Born in St. Joseph on March 1, 1944, he was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph. He attended Benton High School.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Louise; a sister, Ruby Stagner; and a grandchild.
Surviving: Juanita Adair of the home; a daughter, Tracy Bellomy, St. Joseph; three brothers, Dennis, and Butch, both of St. Joseph, and Terry, Phoenix; three sisters, Vernis Roberts, Kay Smith and Vickie Bundridge, all of St. Joseph; and a grandchild.

Hildred Z. VanSchoiack

SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Hildred Z. (Veach) VanSchoiack, 94, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph and Helena, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. VanSchoiack, a homemaker, was a member of the former Cumberland Ridge Presbyterian Church, south of Savannah; and Beeler Extension Club, Savannah.
Born near McCurry, Mo., on May 1, 1904, she lived most of her life in Andrew County, Mo. She attended Lafayette High School in St. Joseph.
On Aug. 4, 1925, she married Harold C. VanSchoiack. He died in 1989.
Mrs. VanSchoiack also was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elizabeth Veach; two brothers, Ray and Roy Veach; and a sister, Stella Jones.
Surviving: a son, Gregg G., Savannah; a twin sister, Mildred Salmons, Savannah; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Yvonne Vogt-Ramold

DAWSON, Neb. -- Yvonne Vogt-Ramold, 50, Dawson, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, from injuries suffered in a vehicle accident on Highway 75, three miles south of Nebraska City, Neb.
Mrs. Ramold had been employed by the American Meter Co. in Nebraska City for more than 20 years.
Born northeast of Falls City, Neb., on March 8, 1948, she lived there until moving south of Dawson in 1960 and into Dawson in 1965. She was a graduate of the Dawson-Verdon High School, and attended the Metropolitan Community College at Omaha, Neb., and a school in Dawson for several years to work on an accounting degree.
Mrs. Ramold was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Dawson.
On Sept. 1, 1978, she married Robert L. Ramold in Dawson. They were divorced in 1993. She had been a resident of Dawson since 1997.
Mrs. Ramold was preceded in death by her parents, Louis W. and Verine A. Vogt.
Surviving: two daughters, Cherelyn Y. Ramold, Great Falls, Mont., and Christina Alder, Osage Beach, Mo.; four brothers, Carl Vogt, Camdenton, Mo., John Vogt, Enders, Neb., Louis W. Mary Zook
1901-1999
Mary (Schmidt) Zook, 97, St. Joseph, formerly of Maryville, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a health-care center in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Zook, a former farm wife, was born in Graham, Mo., on Dec. 30, 1901, and had lived at a health-care center in St. Joseph for five years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and 20th Century Club, and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, all of Maryville. She attended the McCarthy Baptist Church in St. Joseph.
On Oct. 23, 1926, she married Charles A. Zook in Graham. He died in 1969.
Mrs. Zook also was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary E. Schmidt; three sisters, May Majors, Pearl Nichols and Elsie Adams; and five brothers, Glen D., Fred, Robert, C.P. and Ernest Schmidt.
Surviving: a daughter, Ruthie Pistole, St. Joseph; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Frances C. Bethel

SAVANNAH, Mo. -- Frances C. (Harris) Bethel, 89, Savannah, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah after a brief illness.
Mrs. Bethel was a nurse's aide with the St. Joseph State Hospital from 1955 until retiring in 1971.
Born in Cosby, Mo., on Feb. 24, 1909, she was a lifelong resident of the St. Joseph area.
She was a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church, St. Joseph, where she was active in United Methodist Women.
On Feb. 20, 1931, she married Clarence Pfander. They were later divorced. Then in 1956, she married Adolph Bethel. He died in 1986.
Mrs. Bethel also was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Nora Harris.
Surviving: a daughter, Doris E. Wall, St. Joseph; a sister, Georgia Nichols, Andrew County, Mo.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchild.

Eula Bond

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Eula (Acklin) Bond, 83, Maryville, formerly of Skidmore, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Born near Graham, Mo., on July 20, 1915, Mrs. Bond graduated from Graham High School. She received her teaching certified from Northwest Missouri State Teacher's College in Maryville. She taught at Quitman School before her marriage.
Mrs. Bond was a member of Graham Methodist Church; the Morgan Club in Graham; Sunshine Club in Skidmore; and the Nodaway County Genealogy Society.
On May 3, 1942, she married Forrest M. Bond in Graham. He died in 1998.
Mrs. Bond also was preceded in death by her parents, Thornton H. and Sarah E. Acklin; and five brothers, Lester E., Irvin, Glenn, Dale G. and Darwin V. Acklin.
Surviving: two sons, Burdette A., Graham, and Roger K., White Hall, Ill.; a sister, Lola Eden, Winslow, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
