Dorothy F. Schieber
1919-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Dorothy F. (Malone) Schieber, 79, Maryville, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at a Des Moines, Iowa, hospital.
Mrs. Schieber was born in Glenburn, N.D., on March 29, 1919. She graduated from Glenburn High School and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, N.D. She also attended Minot State Teacher's College.
She lived and worked as a registered nurse in Kansas City for many years before moving to Maryville in 1986.
On Dec. 27, 1945, she married Basil Leo Schieber in Glenburn. He died in 1964.
Mrs. Schieber was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, St. Girard's Circle and Guild of St. Gregory's Parish, all in Maryville.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, John R. and Catherine T. Malone; three sisters, Catherine Kelly, Mildred A. Pedersen and Rita Elm; and two brothers, John R. and Robert Malone.
Surviving: two daughters, Mary A. Fielder, Fairbanks, Alaska, and JoAnn E. Loughran, Des Moines; a son, David E., North Pole, Alaska; a sister, Julia Reidlinger, Darlington, Mo.; two brothers, Lawrence Malone, Glenburn, and Leonard Malone of the home; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Friday, St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Maryville. Burial: Mount Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City. Rosary: 4 p.m. Thursday, Price Funeral Home, Maryville, where another rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Irene M. Sneed
1905-1999
LINCOLN, Neb. -- Irene M. (Lackey) Sneed, 93, Lincoln, formerly of Seneca, Kan., died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at a Lincoln health-care center.
Born in Seneca on Oct. 18, 1905, Mrs. Sneed grew up in Seneca where she attended SS. Peter and Paul School.
She married Raphael Sneed in Seneca. They lived in Seneca after their marriage until moving to Beatrice, Neb., in 1954.
Mrs. Sneed worked in the Wendelin Bakery as a sales clerk in Beatrice. He died in 1965. She moved back to Seneca in 1977.
She was a former member of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Beatrice. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lincoln.
Mrs. Sneed also was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Raphael, Cyril, Walter and Melvin Lackey; and two sisters, Elizabeth Frehe and Marguerite Rochel.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca. Burial: Seneca City Cemetery. Rosary: 7 tonight, Lauer Funeral Home, Seneca. Memorial contributions are suggested for SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and be sent in care of the family.

Mary B. Stark
1935-1999
TRENTON, Mo. -- Mary Belle (Thompson) Stark, 64, Trenton, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at a hospital in Tijuana, Mexico.
Mrs. Stark was a special education teacher at Ludlow, Mo., until retiring a year ago because of ill health.
Born in Princeton, Mo., on Jan. 29, 1935, she resided in Trenton for 15 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Trenton.
Mrs. Stark was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Stark, in 1997; and her father, Vernal E. Thompson.
Surviving: two sons: Ed Hart, Laredo, Mo., and John Hart, Wichita, Kan.; three daughters: Barbara Mullins, Fulton, Mo., Carolyn Shoger, Wimberley, Texas, and Sally Ganey, Norfolk, Va.; her mother, Pauline Thompson, Trenton; and eight grandchildren.
Service: 1 p.m. Friday, Stoklasa Memorial Chapel, Cainsville, Mo. Burial: Zoar Cemetery, Cainsville. Visitation: after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Nina C. Tyler
1916-1999
BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- Nina Catherine (Tuggle) Tyler, 82, Blue Springs, formerly of Hamilton, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at a health-care center in Blue Springs.
Born in Hamilton on May 24, 1916, Mrs. Tyler was the daughter of the late Frank and Rosie Tuggle.
On March 24, 1939, she married George Tyler. He died in 1983.
Surviving: a daughter, Margo A. Tyler, Blue Springs; a brother, Tinsley Tuggle, Hamilton; and a sister, Leta Sparks, Meadville, Mo.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Saturday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hamilton. The body will be cremated. Family visitation: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bram Funeral Home, Hamilton. A luncheon for family and friends will follow the service at the church.

C. Chris Bartling
1966-1999
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- C. Chris Bartling, 33, Kansas City, Kan., died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at the Shawnee, Kan., hospital.
Mr. Bartling was a personal trainer with Gold's Gym in Kansas City, Kan., for five years.
Born in Kansas City, Mo., on Feb. 18, 1966, he was a lifelong resident of that area. He was a graduate of the Bishop Ward High School, Kansas City, Kan.; and Kansas City, Kan., Community College.
Mr. Bartling was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and Wyandotte County Football League, both of Kansas City, Kan. He also had coached youth football at the WYCO Sports Association in Kansas City, Kan.
Surviving: his wife, Susan of the home; a son, Brandon of the home; his father, William, Kansas City, Kan.; his mother, Cathy Estavillo, Granger, Ind.; a sister, Lori Lanning, Elkhart, Ind.; paternal grandfather, William Bartling, St. Charles, Mo.; and maternal grandmother, Christine Clark, St. Joseph.
Service: 10 a.m. Friday, Grace Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Kan. Burial: Chapel Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Kan. Family visitation: 6 to 8 tonight at the Highland Park Funeral Home, Kansas City, Kan. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran School Endowment Fund in Kansas City, Kan.

Leila G. Burford
1903-1999
MERCER, Mo. -- Leila Grace (Alley) Burford, 95, Mercer, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Burford was a news reporter in St. Joseph and Topeka, Kan. Later she worked for the Merrill-Lynch Brokerage Firm in Chicago and Chicago Board of Trade.
Born in Mercer on July 22, 1903, she attended a business college in St. Louis. She returned to Mercer after her marriage.
On July 4, 1952, she married Damon E. Burford. He died in 1970.
Mrs. Burford also was preceded in death by her parents, William H. and Grace M. Alley; and a brother, W.H. Alley.
Surviving: a daughter, Pam Bruse, Mill Grove, Mo.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel, Princeton, Mo. Burial: Early Cemetery, Mercer. Visitation: after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Louise I. Fergerson
1942-1999
SEVERANCE, Kan. -- Louise I. (Morris) Fergerson, 56, Severance, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at her home after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Fergerson worked for the Doniphan County, Kan., special education program in Bendena, Kan., for eight years. She was a past member of the parent advisory committee for the Doniphan County special education program.
Born in Brookfield, Mo., on July 31, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Iva Morris.
On Oct. 16, 1962, she married Richard H. Fergerson in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Ilah J. Fanning.
Additional survivors: five daughters, Diana Proctor, Savannah, Mo., Melody Noah and Connie Fergerson, both of St. Joseph, Ruth Wasson, Troy, Kan., and Tina Cunningham, Hiawatha, Kan.; a son, Carl Smith, St. Joseph; a stepdaughter, Cherri Nocks, Kansas City, Mo.; a stepson, Richard, Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Jim Morris, Falls City, Wash., and Fred Morris, St. Joseph; a sister, Emma Putman, St. Joseph; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Harman-Rohde Funeral Home, Troy. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Severance. Family visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Highland, Kan., ambulance service or hospice of Atchison, Kan., in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 185, Troy, KS 66087.

Jacob L. Lehmer
1928-1999
OREGON, Mo. -- Jacob L. Lehmer, 70, Oregon, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Lehmer was a dairy farmer until retiring in 1991. He also drove a semi-truck for several years and worked at the St. Joseph Museum for a number of years.
Born in Wathena, Kan., on Oct. 29, 1928, he moved to the Oregon area in the early 1930s. He was a graduate of the Oregon high school and attended Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, Mo.
From 1948 to 1950 during the Korean War, he served in the Army and then the Army Reserves until 1955. Mr. Lehmer was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served on the board of elders; Kiwanis Club; and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4839, of which he was a past commander, all of Oregon; Sons of the American Revolution; Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and several genealogy societies.
On Oct. 8, 1948, he married Joan Rasnic in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Lehmer was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence V. and Ardath; and a brother, George P.
Additional survivors: four sons, Jacob L., Forest City, Mo., David G., Maitland, Mo., Mark D., Mound City, Mo., and John R. Manhattan, Kan.; a daughter, Laura G. Oldham, Doniphan, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Service: 11 a.m. Friday, First Presbyterian Church, Oregon. Burial: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, with military rites by members of the Harris E. Petree American Legion Post No. 190, Oregon. Visitation: after 11 a.m. today at the Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. There is no scheduled family visitation. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Mary B. McClain
1926-1999
GOFF, Kan. -- Mary Belle (Koch) McClain, 72, Goff, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at the Sabetha, Kan., hospital. She was ill since 1998 and was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Mrs. McClain and her husband, Virgil, lived and farmed southwest of Woodlawn, Kan. Then in 1994, the couple moved to a farm south of Woodlawn.
Born on a farm northwest of Centralia, Kan., on Sept. 18, 1926, she moved with her family to Oneida, Kan., where she attended the Oak Grove Country School. Later they moved to the Goff, Kan., area, where she also attended school. She was a member of the Woodlawn Baptist Church.
On June 2, 1943, she married Virgil McClain in Kansas City, Mo. He survives of the home.
Mrs. McClain was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Gladys I. Koch.
Additional survivors: two sons, Phillip, Goff, and Michael, Fairview, Kan.; two daughters, Sondra Bundgaard, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rhonda Schmelzle, Seneca, Kan.; a brother, Lawrence Koch, Reserve, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Service: 10 a.m. Saturday, Woodlawn Baptist Church. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Lauer Funeral Home, Seneca. Memorials may be made to the Woodlawn Baptist Church in care of the family.

Herbert M. Middaugh
1924-1999
TRENTON, Mo. -- Herbert M. Middaugh, 74, Trenton, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Middaugh was employed by Trenton Home Foods Inc. for 21 years. During World War II, he served in the Navy.
Born in Osgood, Mo., on March 30, 1924, he was a member of the Baptist Church in Modena, Mo. He attended schools in Osgood and Milan, Mo.
On March 4, 1989, he married Martha J. Overton in Trenton. She survives of the home.
Mr. Middaugh was preceded in death by his parents, William L. and Eva G.; and a brother, William H.
Additional survivors: five stepdaughters, Carolyn Watkins and Madeline Hendricks, both of Trenton, Jolene O'Banion and Arlene Kitchen, both of Chillicothe, Mo., and Marilyn Foster, Snohomish, Wash.; four stepsons, Bob Overton, and Kenneth and Randall Owen, all of Trenton, and Eddie Owen, Chillicothe; two sisters, Maxine Ford, Milan, and Izetta Rardon, Kansas City; 25 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. today, Slater Funeral Home, Trenton. Burial: Roselawn Cemetery, Trenton.

Barbara Miklevich
1914-1999
Barbara (Calovich) Miklevich, 84, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mrs. Miklevich was an accountant for the MP Colt Division of OKO Oil and Gas Co. in Ida, Kan.; and at the former Plymouth department store in St. Joseph.
Born in Kansas City, Kan., on Nov. 28, 1914, she moved to Ida in 1940 and to St. Joseph in 1954.
Mrs. Miklevich was a member of St. Joseph' Cathedral, St. Joseph, where she was active in St. Anne's Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella; and American Business Women's Association. She was a volunteer at Heartland Health System.
On Nov. 27, 1954, she married Joseph D. Miklevich. He died in 1986.
Mrs, Miklevich also was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley I. and Helen Calovich; and two sisters, Rosalie Wright and Margaret Colletti.
Surviving: two sisters, Elizabeth Watson, Overland Park, Kan., and Anne Solomont, Prairie Village, Kan.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Saturday, St. Joseph's Cathedral, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 2 p.m. Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where a Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Friday and a parish Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday.

Jeannette K. Miller
1902-1999
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Jeannette K. Miller, 96, Tucson, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999.
Mrs. Miller was a vice-president of a construction company.
Born in St. Louis on Feb. 25, 1902, she was a resident of Tucson for 18 years. She attended college for four years.
She was a former member of the Charlotte Lund Opera Co. in New York City; and a former volunteer for Boys Club of America.
Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her husband, Augustus, in 1989.
Surviving: a sister, Anita Sammarco, Tucson.
Service: 2 p.m. today, Evergreen Mortuary, Tucson. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Tucson. Family visitation: noon to 2 p.m. today at the mortuary. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Edwyene Minor
1910-1999
SAN ANTONIO -- Edwyene (Davy) Minor, 88, San Antonio, formerly of St. Joseph, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in San Antonio.
Mrs. Minor worked for the former Einbender's women's clothing store in St. Joseph for 54 years until retiring.
Born in St. Joseph on July 17, 1910, she lived in St. Joseph for most of her life and in San Antonio for two years. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Minor was preceded in death by her husband, Paul A.; her parents, Edward and Lavinda Davy; and a sister, Bernice H. Dorvitt.
Surviving: a son, Earl Starr, San Antonio; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after noon Friday at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to the Second Presbyterian Church, 33rd and Penn streets, St. Joseph, MO 64507.
