MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Garland W. Bartlett, 79, Maryville, formerly of Burlington Junction, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Mr. Bartlett was a retired plumber.
Born July 5, 1919, near Burlington Junction, he lived most of his life in the Burlington Junction area.
Mr. Bartlett served with the Army during World War II and was a member of the Rolla Dicks American Legion Post No. 315 of Burlington Junction.
On Oct. 19, 1940 he married Lena A. Bartlett. She died in 1998.
Mr. Bartlett also was preceded in death by his parents, Albert K. and Sadie A.; three brothers, Leslie, Howard, and Raymond; a sister, Crystal Morton;, and two grandchildren.
Surviving: three daughters, Shirley McClain, Maryville, Carol McHugh, Burlington Junction, and Marilyn Godwin, Coalgate, Okla.; three sons, Darrell, Wamego, Kan., Marvin, Melvern, Kan., and Danny Clearmont, Mo.; two sisters, Mary Thompson, Lincoln, Neb., and Hildred Boyer, Sidney, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Wallace E. Bieze

DEARBORN, Mo. -- Wallace E. Bieze, 78, Dearborn, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at a North Kansas City, Mo., hospital.
Born in Chicago on July 16, 1920, Mr. Bieze had been employed as a carpenter and served in the Navy during World War II. He had lived in Illinois and Florida before moving to Dearborn 16 years ago.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace, in 1982; two brothers, Richard and Raymond; and a sister, Macine Pennington.
Surviving: three brothers, Ted, Melrose Park, Ill., Harvard, Glenview, Ill., and George, Mount Prospect, Ill.; and two sisters, Eunice Fischer, Platte City, Mo., and Valerie Zilius, Deland, Fla.

Patricia R. Bowles
1933-1999
Patricia Rose (Jones) Bowles, 65, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Bowles was employed by Cookman Printing until her retirement.
Born in Siloam Spring, Mo., on April 30, 1933, she spent most of her life in St. Joseph. She was a Christian.
Mrs. Bowles was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Hilma Jones.
Surviving: a son, Charles, Clear Lake, Calif.; a daughter, Penny Wright, St. Joseph; a brother, Richard Jones, state of Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lee Brazelton
1913-1999
TROY, Kan. -- Lee Brazelton, 85, Troy, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mr. Brazelton worked for Douglas Aircraft at Long Beach, Calif., as a material supervisor in the material control department until retiring in 1977. He then was a stockbroker until moving to Troy in 1983.
Born May 3, 1913, in Manhattan, Kan., he was a graduate of Troy High School and of the Platte Gard Business School, St. Joseph.
Mr. Brazelton served in the Navy. Upon his discharge, he joined the Naval Reserve in Los Angeles.
Mr. Brazelton was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Laura E.
Surviving: a son, Michael L. Fairfax, Va.; two daughters, Judy A. Douglas, North Hollywood, Calif., and Susan P. Brazelton, Morgan Hill, Calif.; a sister, Mary Helen Loroff, Troy; and three grandchildren.

Hobert P. Graham
1925-1999
MESA, Ariz. -- Hobert Paul Graham, 73, Mesa, formerly of Craig, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at a hospital in Mesa.
Mr. Graham was employed by Ak-Sar-Ben in Omaha, Neb., until retiring. During World War II, he served in the Army.
Born in Fairfax, Mo., on Dec. 29, 1925, he was reared in Craig, but lived most of his adult life in Omaha before moving to Mesa five years ago.
On June 3, 1971, he married Virginia Hobbs in Omaha. She survives of the home.
Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Edna and Phillip Brandt; and two sisters, Beulah McCabe and Marjorie Rusow.
Additional survivors: a son, Eugene, Omaha; a stepson, William Hobbs, Everett, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Linda Majkowski, Omaha, and Sheryl Trexler, Mesa; two brothers, Mike Dougherty, Mannington, W.Va., and Marvin Graham, Kansas City; three sisters, Irene Pearson, St. Joseph, Darlene Gath, Mesa, and Pat Kumsher, Omaha; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Chapel of Prayer in Mesa. The body has been cremated.
Minnie E. Hanks

PLATTSBURG, Mo. -- Minnie E. Hanks, 98, Plattsburg, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at a Plattsburg health-care center.
Miss Hanks practiced law in Plattsburg from 1960, to her retirement in 1994.
Born May 2, 1900, near Plattsburg, Miss Hanks was a graduate of Plattsburg High School. She attended Northwestern Missouri State University, Maryville, Mo., and the University of Missouri-Columbia, and Central Business College, Kansas City.
Miss Hanks was a legal secretary in Kansas City until she accepted a Civil Service position in Washington, D.C., for eight years. During that time she attended law school and received a bachelor of laws degree and a master of laws degree from National University School of Law in Washington, D.C. She was admitted to practice law in Missouri in 1942.
Miss Hanks was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church, Plattsburg. She was a charter member of the Clinton County Historical Society and chairman of the Bicentennial Committee of Clinton County, which compiled and published the 1977 History of Clinton County, Mo.
Miss Hanks was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Ida F. Hanks and two brothers.
Survivors: cousins.

Susie P. Hayes

KANSAS CITY -- Susie Pauline Hayes, 85, Kansas City, formerly of Gower, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at a health-care center in Kansas City.
Born in Gower on April 16, 1913, Mrs. Hayes was a member of the King of Kings Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy R. Adams.
Surviving: her husband, Richard H. of the home.

PLATTSBURG, Mo. -- Hazel Fern Jaques, 85, Plattsburg, died Sunday Feb. 28, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Jaques, with her husband, had operated the Jaques "66" station in Plattsburg for many years.
Born Aug. 29, 1913, in Lilly, Mo., south of Plattsburg, Mrs. Jaques was a member of First Christian Church of Plattsburg.
On Sept. 19, 1931, she married Frank Jaques. He died in 1986.
Surviving: a son, Tom, Aurora, Colo.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mary H. Joy

FALLS CITY, Neb. -- Mary Helen (Goolsby) Joy, 86, Falls City, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at a health-care center in Falls City.
Born south of Gordon, Neb., on Dec. 1, 1912, Mrs. Joy later moved to the Verdon, Neb., area with her parents.
She was a graduate of the Falls City high school, and a member of the First Christian Church, Falls City; Falls City chapter No. 225, Order of the Eastern Star, of which she was a past worthy matron; and Reavis-Ashley chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Falls City.
On March 13, 1933, she married Reuben R. Joy in Auburn, Neb. They made their home northeast of Stella, Neb., and later moved to Falls City. He died in 1990. She had been a resident of a Falls City health-care center since 1998.
Mrs. Joy also was preceded in death by her parents, Mark A. and Ruth Goolsby; and two brothers, Lawrence and Gordon Goolsby.
Surviving: two sons, Robert J., Falls City, and Richard, Omaha, Neb; a daughter, JoAnn Wullschleger, Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Sadie M. Lewis

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Sadie M. (Denkinger) Lewis, 92, Maryville, formerly of Pickering, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Mrs. Lewis was born Oct. 28, 1906, in Highland, Kan. She moved to Maryville in 1967.
On Sept. 6, 1928, she married the Rev. Norman J. Lewis in Highland. He died in 1982.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Lewis also was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Louisa Denkinger; two brothers, Albert and Wesley Denkinger; three sisters, Catherine Wickstrom, Cora Akers and Laura Denkinger; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving: two daughters, Dorothy Cross, Bedford, Iowa, and Norma J. Cooper, Kansas City; and four grandchildren.

Paul P. Mejia

KATY, Texas -- Paul P. Mejia, 78, Katy, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at a hospital in Houston.
Mr. Mejia had been employed as a project manager for several major oil companies in Houston and overseas. During World War II and the Korean War, he served in the Navy.
Born in Centerville, Iowa, on Aug. 23, 1920, he moved to St. Joseph in 1923 and had resided in the Houston area since 1950.
He was a graduate of the former Christian Brothers High School in St. Joseph, University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor of science degree in engineering and New York University in New York City, N.Y., with a master's degree.
Mr. Mejia was preceded in death by his parents, David and Soledad; and two brothers, David and Sam.
Surviving: his wife, Sue of the home; two sons, Paul Jr., San Antonio, Texas, and Lane, Chicago; two stepsons, Nick Wiley and Brent Mejia, both of Houston; a stepdaughter, Gayla Kelley, Houston; three brothers, Rudy, St. Joseph, Robert, Missouri City, Texas, and Gerald, St. Joseph; four sisters, Sara Juarez, Elizabeth Valencia and Martha Chavez, all of St. Joseph, and Mary Littlejohn, Eugene, Ore.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 22. Burial was in the Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
Lucille A. Murrell

Lucille A. (McWilliams) Murrell, 88, St. Joseph, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Murrell had been employed by the former American National Bank in St. Joseph until her retirement.
Born near Clarksdale, Mo., on Feb. 23, 1911, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
She was a member of the Wyatt Park Baptist Church, Y-Women, P.B.X. Club and Needles of Moila, all of St. Joseph.
Mrs. Murrell was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond C., in 1982; her parents, Albert and Bess McWilliams; and a sister, Glenna Palmer.
Surviving: a daughter, Judith Fothergill, Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas; a son, Michael, Cary, N.C.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mary F. Parrish

CRAIG, Mo. -- Mary Francis Parrish, 82, Craig, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at the Fairfax, Mo., hospital.
Miss Parrish had been employed as a registered nurse for Dr. James Humphrey in Mound City, Mo., until retiring.
Born in Craig on April 17, 1916, she lived most of her life in Craig. She was a graduate of the Craig high school and received a registered nurse degree from Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry E. and Ida Parrish.
Surviving: a sister, Margaret E. Balle, Tarkio, Mo.
