Mary E. Walker
1916-1999
MARYVILLE, Mo. - Mary Elizabeth (Jobe) Walker, 82, Maryville, formerly of St. Joseph and King City, Mo., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Mrs. Walker, a homemaker, worked in food service at Northwest Missouri State University-Maryville, where she worked for 11 years before retiring. She also worked at the Woolworth's Store in St. Joseph.
Born Aug. 8, 1916, in Barnard, Mo., she was a graduate of Rushville, Mo., High School.
Mrs. Walker was a member of the Barnard Methodist Church.
On April 7, 1935, she married Charles W. Walker in St. Joseph. They were later divorced.
Mrs. Walker was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Kathryn Jobe.
Surviving: a son, Charles E., Maryville; a sister, Nellie Flanders, St. Joseph; and two grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 10 a.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
Hilda Wildberger
1922-1999
Hilda (Baker) Wildberger, 76, St. Joseph, died Thursday, March 4, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born May 24, 1922, in London, England, she left London in 1946 as a war bride and came to St. Joseph.
Mrs. Wildberger was a volunteer at Heartland Regional Medical Center West in the rehabilitation center.
On Oct. 5, 1946, she married Albert Wildberger in London. He died in 1981.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Heber W. and Jane I. Baker; and a brother, Charles Baker.
Surviving: a son, Patrick J., St. Joseph; a daughter, Victoria McGregor, Stewartsville, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Alice V. Arey
1918-1999
KNOXVILLE, Mo. -- Alice V. (Davis) Arey, 81, Knoxville, formerly of Mirabile, Mo., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a Richmond, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. Arey, a homemaker, was born on Jan. 4, 1918, in Cameron.
She was a member of the Nazarene Church, Blue Springs, Mo.
She married Paul Arey in 1936. He died in 1973.
Mrs. Arey also was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and May Davis; and two brothers, Russell and Eugene Davis.
Surviving: a son, Kenneth, Kansas city; a daughter, Darlene Peoples, Knoxville; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Major Beasley
1916-1999
EASTON, Mo. -- Major Beasley, 82, Easton, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Beasley worked as a machine operator for Sheffield Steele, now known as Armoco, Kansas City, for 25 years. He also served in the Army during World War II.
Born May 2, 1916, in Brotherton, Tenn., he lived in the Kansas City area until moving to Easton in 1974.
Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 1992; his parents, Willis and Belle; four brothers, Ed, Jess, Willis and Jinx; and three sisters, Essie Lake, Volar Uttley and Cynthia.
Surviving: two sons, James M., Manassas, Va., and Jack W., Vilonia, Ark.; a daughter, Gayla Marriott, St. Joseph; and five grandchildren.

Gilman M. Constant
1916-1999
DARLINGTON, Mo. -- Gilman M. "Cocky" Constant, 82, Darlington, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at an Albany, Mo. hospital.
Mr. Constant was a farmer and involved in the livestock business in the Darlington and Albany areas, where he spent most of his life.
Born May 20, 1916, in Denver, Mo., he was a graduate of Albany High School.
Mr. Constant was a member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 127, Gentryville and McFall, Mo. He also belonged to the Christian faith.
On Feb. 28, 1940, he married Maxine L. Consolver in Troy, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Constant was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Donald and Junior.
Additional survivors: two sons, Jim and Bill, of the home; a sister, Helen Knight, Kansas City; and a grandchild.

Delta E. Cotrell

Delta E. (Ryan) Cotrell, 89, St. Joseph, died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a St. Joseph health-care center.
Mrs. Cotrell, a homemaker, also worked as assistant manager at Wesley Senior Towers for several years before retiring in 1991.
Born Oct. 3, 1909, in Morrisville, Mo., she lived most of her life in St. Joseph.
Mrs. Cotrell was a member of the First Christian Church and Order of the Eastern Star Areme Chapter No. 461, both of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl R., in 1970; her parents, Floyd M. and Flossie E. Ryan; three brothers, William, Charles and Delbert Ryan.
Surviving: a daughter, Betty L. Sharp, St. Joseph; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation: after 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Bernice H. Gilfillan

SABETHA, Kan. -- Bernice Hildred (Fisher) Gilfillan, 81, Sabetha, formerly of Topeka, Kan., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a Sabetha health-care center.
Mrs. Gilfillan worked as a laundry worker for the American Linen Co., Topeka.
Born Jan. 31, 1918, in Salem, Neb., she was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sabetha.
She married Edwin R. Gilfillan on Sept. 14, 1939, in Troy, Kan. He survives in Sabetha.
Mrs. Gilfillan was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edith Fisher.

Lola B. Gillispie

KING CITY, Mo. -- Lola B. (Adkins) Gillispie, 95, King City, formerly of Savannah, Mo., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a King City health-care center.
Mrs. Gillispie, a homemaker, was born March 19, 1903, near Rosendale, Mo., where she was a graduate of Mount Calvary rural school. She spent most of her life in Rosendale and Savannah, Mo., spending a few years in Maitland, Mo., before moving to King City in 1993.
Mrs. Gillispie was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion Post No. 287, both of Savannah.
In 1921, she married Everett J. Gillispie. He died in 1969.
Mrs. Gillispie also was preceded in death by a son, William W.; a daughter, Rosalie Meadows; her parents, Charles S. and Clemma Adkins; two brothers, Chester A. and Lloyd M. Adkins; and three sisters, Mabel N. Rhoades, Gladys M. Blair-Turner and Leota L. Turner.
Surviving: a daughter, Joyce E. Jacoby, King City; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth W. Hayes

Ruth W. Hayes, 90, St. Joseph, formerly of Stewartsville, Mo., died Friday, March 5, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Miss Hayes worked as a cook at a Kansas City hospital. She also was a civilian volunteer of the airplane spotting service, Puposky, Minn.
Born Jan. 31, 1909, in Bemidji, Minn., she lived in Stewartsville most of her life until moving to St. Joseph in 1982.
Miss Hayes was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Stewartsville.
Miss Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Jennie; two brothers, Will and Robert; and two sisters, Helga Harvey and Betty Smith.
Surviving: a sister, Mabel Young, St. Joseph; a niece, Juell Chance, Oceanside, Calif.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

M. Louise Caliup

M. Louise (Bell) Caliup, 69, St. Joseph, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born April 25, 1929, in St. Joseph she resided in St. Joseph most of her life, living in Kansas City for a brief time.
She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Hoard; her mother, Lillie M. Ellsworth; four brothers, Charles, Billy, Irvin and Homer Hoard; and four sisters, Betty McKinney, Nellie Johnson, Joy A. Hoard and Esther Hoard.
Surviving: her husband, Willie B., of the home; a son, Calvin Bell, Kansas City; a daughter, Hester Bell, St. Joseph; a brother, Jerry L. Hoard, Elwood, Kan,; five sisters, June Nance, Clementine Smith and Ilene Crowley, all of St. Joseph, Laura Cannedy of Denver, Colo., and Wilamena Smith and Thelma Hoard, both of Kansas City; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Will T. Hornbeck
1916-1999
WESTON, Mo. -- Will T. Hornbeck, 82, Weston, died Sunday, March 7, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Hornbeck worked as a tobacco farmer in the Weston area, retiring in 1978.
Born May 2, 1916, in Weston, he was a lifelong resident there.
Mr. Hornbeck was a member of the Weston United Methodist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1668 and the Military Order of Cooties, both of St. Joseph.
On May 12, 1948, he married Nellie Purvis in Bentonville, Ark. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hornbeck was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Etta G.; and a sister, Ethel Bryan.
Additional survivors: three sons, Jim, Platte City, Mo., Edward T., Weston, and Charles, Camden Point, Mo.; a daughter, Stella Memarian, St. Joseph; a brother, Woodrow, Camden Point; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Ida M. (Wells) Lewis, 86, Chillicothe, formerly of Ludlow, Mo., died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a Chillicothe health-care center.
Born April 25, 1912, in Washington County, Ala., Mrs. Lewis worked as a nurse at Hendrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, for three years. She then went to work for Dr. Conrad, Chillicothe, for 25 years.
On Dec. 30, 1933, she married Frederick G. Lewis in Plymouth, Mo. He died in 1976.
Mrs. Lewis also was preceded in death by her parents. Edgar and Sarah L. Wells; three brothers; three sisters; and a great-grandchild.
Surviving: a son, John G., Ludlow; a daughter, Betty A. Gilliland, Ludlow; a sister, Mary S. Davis, Norborne, Mo.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy I. (Wrenn) Miller, 73, St. Joseph, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born November 17, 1925, in Maysville, Mo., she resided in St. Joseph for the past 44 years.
On June 23, 1947, she married James L. Miller in Troy, Kan. He died in 1991.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, John B. and Ethel L. Wrenn; and a sister, Zelma Ellis.
Surviving: five sons, John B., Roger P. and Daniel M., all of St. Joseph, Max W., Helena, Mo., and James S., Pattonsburg, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Reid, St. Joseph; a brother, J.C. Wrenn, Maysville, Mo.; three sisters, Oma Shoemaker, San Diego, Virginia Nesseth, Port Orchard, Wash., and Wilma Carrel, Union Star, Mo.; and eight grandchildren.
