Austin W. Weigart

CAMERON, Mo. - Austin Wallace Weigart, 91, Cameron, formerly of Grant City, Mo., died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at the Cameron hospital.
Mr. Weigart was a retired farmer and carpenter. During World War II, he served in the Army.
Born in Allendale, Mo., on Oct. 27, 1907, he had spent all of life in Grant City until moving to Cameron 11 years ago.
On April 19, 1932, he married Irene Maxwell in Albany, Mo. She died in 1986.
Mr. Weigart also was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois; three sisters, Merle Herndon, Essie Hern and Fern Sherer; and a brother, Orval.
Surviving: a son, Don; two daughters, Madonna Taylor, Stewartsville, Mo., and Joyce Shirk, Chillicothe, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service and burial: 3 p.m. Friday, Grant City Cemetery. Visitation: after 9 a.m. today at the Andrews Funeral Home, Grant City, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday.
Helen L. White
1923-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - Helen Louise (Russell) Spray White, 75, Chillicothe, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at a hospital in Kansas City.
Mrs. White was an insurance clerk for several years.
Born in Shidler, Okla., on Oct. 5, 1923, she moved with her parents to Livingston County, Mo., in 1935. She was a graduate of the Chula, Mo., high school.
On Dec. 20, 1941, she married Eldon Spray. He died in 1959. Then on Feb. 2, 1963, she married Russell White in Chillicothe. He survives of the home.
Mrs. White also was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Vera Russell; a brother, Bud Russell; and a sister, Patricia Edwards.
Additional survivors: a son, Michael Spray, Newburg, Ore.; two stepsons, Gary White, Hamilton, Mo., and Donald White, Kansas City; a daughter, Sharon Rees, Columbus, Ohio; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Isabell Babcock

PLATTE CITY, Mo. -- Isabell (Hamersky) Babcock, 77, Platte City, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a North Kansas City, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. Babcock was a customer service representative for the United Telephone Co. until her retirement.
Born in Maryville, Mo., on Dec. 8, 1921, she moved to Platte City in 1944. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston, Mo.
On June 24, 1944, she married Lloyd E. Babcock in Kansas City. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Babcock also was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Surviving: a son Gerald, Kansas City; a daughter, Loretta A. Monroe Baublit
1921-1999
Monroe "Bud" Baublit, 77, St. Joseph, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Baublit had been employed as an electrician for the St. Joseph School District until retiring in 1988. During World War II, he served in the Army and received six Bronze Stars.
Born in St. Joseph on Sept. 19, 1921, he was a lifelong resident of the St. Joseph area.
He was of the Methodist faith and a member of the King Hill Masonic Lodge No. 378, A.F. & A.M.
On June 26, 1947, he married Sue Herron in Reno, Nev. She survives of the home.
Mr. Baublit was preceded in death by his parents, George D. and Elizabeth; and a sister, Leanna Deming.
Additional survivors: two sons, George D. II and Monty K., both of St. Joseph; a daughter, Pamela Manson, St. Joseph; three sisters, Frankie Bish and Dorothy Butt, both of St. Joseph, and Niona Thompson, Baraboo, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

CAMERON, Mo. -- Melanie Amber Chaney, 24, Cameron, formerly of Hamilton, Mo., died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at a Kansas City hospital from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 36 near Hamilton.
Miss Chaney was employed as a cashier at Porter's Building Center in Cameron.
Born in St. Joseph on Feb. 11, 1975, she was a former resident of Hamilton.
She was a graduate of the Penney High School in Hamilton, where she was valadictorian of her class, and member of the National Honor Society, High Step, Future Homemakers of America and Spanish Club. After graduation, she had attended Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph.
Miss Chaney was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Kenneth H. Chaney; maternal great-grandmother, Ellen Benton; and maternal great-grandfather, Clyde Stitt.
Surviving: Rob Reed of the home; her mother, Cheryl Stitt-Chaney, Kansas City; her father, Kenneth Chaney, Mound City, Mo.; three sisters, Jaime White, St. Joseph, and Miranda and Matayah Allen, both of Kansas City; maternal grandfather, C.R. Stitt, Bethany, Mo.; maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Ruth and Don Shockey, Lenexa, Kan.; paternal grandmother, Betty Chaney, Mound City; and maternal great-grandmother, Dorothy Stitt, Hamilton.

MISSION HILLS, Kan. -- Lavega Claiborn, 84, Mission Hills, formerly of Savannah, Mo., died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at a hospital in Overland Park, Kan.
Mr. Claiborn served as superintendent of schools in Savannah and Waynesville, Mo.
Born near Crocker, Mo., in 1914, he had lived in Savannah, Waynesville, Springfield, Mountain Grove and Republic, Mo., before moving to Mission Hills.
Mr. Claiborn received his degrees from Monmouth College and the University of Missouri at Columbia. He served in the Army Infantry during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maryetta, in 1994.
Surviving: two sons, Charles, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Daniel, Mission Hills, Kan.; and six grandchildren.

Harold O. Cox

HIAWATHA, Kan. -- Harold O. Cox, 71, Hiawatha, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, in Sedalia, Mo., of injuries suffered in a vehicle accident.
Born in Tiskilwa, Ill., on July 20, 1927, Mr. Cox was employed as a moulder in the furnace department of Rockwell in Atchison, Kan., until retiring.
On April 7, 1950, he married Florence E. Brown in Kansas City, Kan. She died in 1987.
Mr. Cox also was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Julia; a brother, James; and four sisters, Madeline McClure, Grace Hogan, Mary Coffman and Clara Hoy.
Surviving: a son, Scott, Horton, Kan.; three daughters, B. Ann Woodward and Rose Frakes, both of Horton, and Mary Moler, Hiawatha; three sisters, Ruth Heard, Kansas City, Mo., Edna Elmore, Springhill, Kan., and Josephine Wilfong, St. Joseph; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Carrie P. Fuller

MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Carrie P. (Brown) Fuller, 91, Maryville, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at a Maryville health-care center.
Mrs. Fuller was a retired cook, having worked for Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville.
Mrs. Fuller was born Dec. 5, 1907, in Shenandoah, Iowa. She also lived in Clearmont, Mo., where she was a member of the Clearmont Christian Church. She had lived in Maryville the past 35 years.
On Aug. 24, 1925, she married Harry R. Fuller in Rock Port, Mo. He died in 1957.
Mrs. Fuller also was preceded in death by a son, Larry; a daughter, Norma Jean Lee; three brothers, Ira, Oren and Clifford Brown; and two sisters, Wilma Spalding and Stella T. William.
Surviving: two sons, Robert, Kansas City, and Kirby, Burlington Junction, Mo.; a daughter, Betty Mires, Clearmont; five brothers, Virgil Brown, Hopkins, Mo., Homer Brown, Maryville, Harold Brown, Burlington Junction, Kenneth Brown, Fort Collins, Colo., and Melvin Brown, Forsyth, Mo.; a sister, Delcie Sands, Malvern, Iowa; 44 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Veva I. Hargrove

HIGHLAND, Kan. -- Veva Irene (Blakley) Hargrove, 75, Highland, formerly of Robinson, Kan., died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at a Hiawatha, Kan., hospital.
Mrs. Hargrove had worked at the Atchison, Kan., Day-Care Center for many years.
Born in the Rushville, Mo., area on Nov. 6, 1923, she had lived in Highland with her daughter, Tammie Sisk for the past 21/2 years.
She attended the Atchison Vocational Technical School.
In 1942, she married Glen F. Hargrove. He died in 1985.
Mrs. Hargrove also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Augusta M. Blakley; and nine brothers and sisters.

Marie A. Hermesch

SENECA, Kan. -- Marie A. (Niehues) Hermesch, 78, Seneca, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a hospital in Topeka, Kan.
Mrs. Hermesch had cooked in the cafeteria of the Seneca Elementary School for several years. She also helped prepare funeral lunches at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and volunteered at Country View Estates, both in Seneca.
Born July 13, 1920, on a farm east of Kelly, Kan., she attended St. Bede's School at Kelly and worked on the family farm.
She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca, where she was active in St. Ann's Altar Guild; and Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Guild Card Club. She was a former member of St. Bede's Catholic Church in Kelly.
On Feb. 15, 1939, she married Adolph Hermesch in Kelly. They assisted in rearing nine children of a friend who died, and farmed south of Kelly until moving to Seneca in 1974. He died in 1994.
Mrs. Hermesch also was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Mary Niehues; and a grandchild.
Surviving: four daughters, Lois Moore, McPherson, Kan., Donna Baker, Bonner Springs, Kan., Janet Baggett, Lenexa, Kan., and Sandy Olberding, Topeka; four sons, Mark, Kenneth and Sam, all of Seneca, and Roger, Corning, Kan.; a brother, Fritz Niehues, Wamego, Kan.; two sisters, Hilda Magnett, Blaine, Kan., and Ida Bloom, Goff, Kan.; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Born in Carroll County, Mo., on July 23, 1928, Mrs. Hubbard had lived most of her life in Caldwell County, Mo. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hamilton.
Mrs. Hubbard was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1980; a daughter, Malinda; and a sister, Kathleen Cox.

Donald E. Hunsaker
1932-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Donald E. Hunsaker, 66, Atchison, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Hunsaker had been employed by the Atchison Police Department and retired in 1982 as acting chief of police. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955.
Born in the Brenner community, south of Troy, Kan., on May 3, 1932, he attended Doniphan County, Kan., schools. Mr. Hunsaker graduated from the Troy, Kan., high school and Highland Community Junior College. He moved to Atchison in 1956. He was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1175 and Fleming-Jackson-Seever American Legion Post No. 6, all of Atchison.
On Sept. 23, 1951, he married Edna O. Koehler in Fanning, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Hunsaker was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph E. and Velma; and a brother, Duane.

BETHANY, Mo. -- Ruth Maxine (Lawrence) Kerns, 84, Bethany, died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at a Bethany hospital.
Mrs. Kerns was born in Harrison County, Mo., on Sept. 27, 1914. A homemaker, she also worked as a waitress. She also had worked as a licensed practical nurse for the Harrison County Community Hospital and Crestview Nursing Home.
She was a member of the HEO Club and First Baptist church, both of Bethany.
Mrs. Kerns was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Mary Lawrence; a sister, Velma Smith; a brother, Leo Lawrence; and two grandchildren.
Surviving: a daughter, Lois Nicholls, Blue Springs, Mo.; two sons, Ron, Liberty, Mo., and Jerry, Boring, Ore.; a sister, Rhea Brewer, St. Joseph; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
