Margaret B. Malson

Margaret B. (Barnes) Malson, 85, St. Joseph, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at the Albany, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. Malson had been employed as a cook at the St. Joseph State Hospital for 18 years until retiring in 1975.
Born in Gentry County, Mo., on April 18, 1913, she had lived in St. Joseph since 1955. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Malson was preceded in death by her husband, Ray E., in 1978; her parents, Preston and Ollie Barnes; and four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving: a daughter, Eulla Tannheimer, St. Joseph; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Burial: Grandview Cemetery, Albany. Visitation: after 12:30 p.m. today, at the chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight.
Mary Mozola
1907-1999
WESTON, Mo. -- Mary Mozola, 92, Weston, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born in Chicago, Ill., on Jan. 10, 1907, Mrs. Mozola, a homemaker, had lived in Schaumburg, Ill., until moving to Weston in 1996. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston.
On July 15, 1928, she married Paul V. Mozola in Chicago. He died in 1985.
Mrs. Mozola also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary A. Zemroz; a brother, John Bielik; a sister Rose; and two grandchildren.
Surviving: a son, Paul, Weston; a brother, Frank Bielik, Norridge, Ill.; five sisters, Marge, Ann, Celia, Vivian, and Millie.

Doyle D. Payton
1924-1999
BEDFORD, Iowa -- Doyle Drexel Payton, 74, Bedford, formerly of Sheridan, Mo., died Thursday, March 11, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Payton, a farmer, was born in Parnell, Mo., on May 9, 1924, and had lived in Bedford all of his married life.
On Sept. 4, 1943, he married Arcile Howard. She died in 1997.
Mr. Payton also was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nina.
Surviving: Myrtle Risser of the home; and nieces and nephews.

Gladys V. Pickerel
1903-1999
STANBERRY, Mo. -- Gladys Viola (Spainhower) Pickerel, 95, Stanberry, died Thursday, March, 11, 1999, at the Albany, Mo., hospital.
Mrs. Pickerel, a homemaker, also had been the co-owner and operator a grocery store in Stanberry for 25 years.
Born in Stanberry on Sept. 29, 1903, she was a lifelong resident of that town and attended schools there.
Mrs. Pickerel was a member of First Baptist Church, Stanberry, where she was active in the Missionary Circle.
On Aug. 13, 1927, she married Virgil D. Pickerel in Albany. He died in 1988.
Mrs. Pickerel also was preceded in death by infant twin children; her parents, Jacob H. and Annie Spainhower; and a brother and five sisters.
Surviving: a son, Bob, Albany; two daughters, Joanna Pickerel, Stanberry, and Patty Dewey, Cambridge, Minn.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Willard Potarf
1915-1999
CAINSVILLE, Mo. -- Willard Lee "Do-Bob" Potarf, 83, Cainsville, Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a North Kansas City, Mo., hospital.
Mr. Potarf, born in Mercer County, Mo., on Oct. 8, 1915, was employed in the construction industry and also had farmed. He had been a resident of Cainsville for 57 years.
He was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Cainsville and Construction Industry Labor Union No. 101.
On June 21, 1941, he married Mary Jane Woodward in Princeton, Mo. She survives of the home.
Mr. Potarf was preceded in death his mother, Dottie M.

Ilene Priest

SABETHA, Kan. -- Ilene (Brammer) Priest, 73, Sabetha, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a Sabetha health-care center.
Mrs. Priest was born on Oct. 8, 1925, in Sabetha. She graduated from high school in Honey Creek, south of Dawson, Neb.
She worked in Falls City, Neb., for the Wiltse & Wiltse law firm; Midway Caf in Sabetha; and Sabetha Community Hospital as a cook until 1990.
On April 6, 1947, she married Loran Priest in Sabetha. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Priest was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7285 in Sabetha.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald L.; her father, Santa Brammer; her stepfather, Wayne Rhoades; and a brother, Harold Brammer.
Additional survivors: two sons, Daniel, Topeka, Kan., and Gary, Sabetha; her mother, Sadie Rhoades, Dawson; two brothers, Glen Brammer, Henderson, Nev., and Fred Brammer, Overton, Nev.; three sisters, Geneva Lee, Dawson, Carolyn Jo Shawl, Las Vegas, Nev., and Mary Humfeld, Queen Valley, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Sharon K. Sabo

LOUISVILLE, Colo. -- Sharon K. (Hudson) Sabo, 49, Louisville, formerly of St. Joseph, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at her residence.
Mrs. Sabo started her career as a cosmetologist and opened her own retail business in 1979, "Sew Natural," in Boulder. She closed her business in 1987 due to health reasons.
Born in Clinton, Mo., on March 12, 1949, she graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph. She moved from St. Joseph to Denver in 1976 and to Boulder in 1997.
She also worked with the Miss America Scholarship Pageant on the local level and supported fund-raising efforts of the Lupus Foundation of Colorado. Mrs. Sabo was a member of the Junior League in Denver, P.E.O. Sisterhood and Areme chapter No. 461, Order of the Eastern Star.
On July 23, 1977, she married Joseph Sabo, D.M.D, in Golden, Colo. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Sabo was preceded in death by her father, David L. Hudson.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Tricia R. Curtis, Superior, Colo.; her mother, Nerma R. Hudson, St. Joseph; and two brothers, Norman Hudson, Louisville, and James L. Hudson, Bella Vista, Ark.
Service: 11 a.m. Monday, Crestview Christian Reformed Church, Boulder. The body will be cremated following the service. Private family inurnment: at a later date, in the Green Mountain Cemetery, Boulder. Family visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the Howe Mortuary, Boulder. Laura E. Sweet

FILLMORE, Mo. -- Laura Elizabeth (Harmon) Sweet, 79, Fillmore, died Wednesday, March 10, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Sweet had worked in the shipyards and packing house in the state of Oregon during World War II. She also had been employed by the former Woolco in St. Joseph from 1976 to 1983 and operated a farm in the Fillmore area from 1961 to 1995.
Born in Dawson, Neb., on Nov. 21, 1919, she had lived in Nebraska until moving to the state of Oregon and Fillmore in 1961.
She attended the Falls City, Neb., high school. Mrs. Sweet was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Auxiliary to the Eagles Lodge No. 49 in St. Joseph.
On June 4, 1943, she married Virgil A. Sweet. He died in 1960.
Mrs. Sweet also was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Mary Harmon; a brother, Paul Harmon; and two sisters, Marjorie Weir and Jean Harmon.
Surviving: a daughter, Tammara J. Stanton, Savannah, Mo.; two sisters, Rose Lock, Lincoln, Neb., and Jayne Simmonds, Rulo, Neb.; and three grandchildren.

Marguerite V. Wilson

Marguerite V. (Pennington) Wilson, 87, St. Joseph, died Saturday, March 6, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
For 40 years, Mrs. Wilson had been employed by Armour and Co. in St. Joseph until retiring in 1972.
Born in Atchison, Kan., on March 17, 1911, she had lived most of her life in St. Joseph. She was a graduate of the former Bartlett High School in St. Joseph.
She was a member of Holsey Chapel I.C.M. Church and SMART SET, both of St. Joseph.
On Sept. 13, 1973, she married John Wilson in Atchison. He is deceased.
Mrs. Wilson also was preceded in death by a son, Glover Walker; her parents, Frank and Julia Pennington; four brothers, Johnny, Robert, Ecy and Roy Pennington; and four sisters, Gertrude Williams, Alice Shields, Irene Henderson and Isabelle Jones.
Surviving: a stepson, Lawrence Wilson, St. Joseph; a stepdaughter, Marie Stillman, Denver, Colo.; a nephew, Charles Taylor, St. Joseph, who had cared for her; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Doris Knowles
1909-1999
ALBANY, Mo. -- Doris (Steinman) Pickering Knowles, 89, Albany, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at an Albany hospital.
Born Aug. 18, 1909, in Gentry County, Mo., Mrs. Knowles was a homemaker and a member of the Wayman Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Albany.
In 1932, she married Joe Pickering. He died in 1963. In 1974, she married Arthur Knowles, who died in 1984.
Mrs. Knowles also was preceded in death by her parents, Frank E. and Artie A. Steinman; and four brothers, Otis, Jimmie, Kenith and Loren Steinman.
Surviving: a son, Danny, Albany; three daughters, Betty Phillips, Basehor, Kan., Madonna Phillips, Linwood, Kan., and Sue Robbins, Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Oren Steinman, King City, Mo.; a sister, Mildred Snow, Albany; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Georgia C. Lewis

CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Georgia Celeste (Trammell) Lewis, 90, Chillicothe, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at the Chillicothe hospital.
Born in Sampsel, Mo., on April 20, 1908, Mrs. Lewis taught school at Sampsel. She moved from the Livingston County, Mo., area to St. Louis and to Chillicothe in 1995.
She was a graduate of the Sampsel high school and attended Jackson College in Chillicothe.
On Jan. 25, 1928, she married Albert B. Lewis in Chillicothe. He died in 1997.
Mrs. Lewis also was preceded in death by her parents, Claude D. and Maude J. Trammell; and three brothers, Shelby F., Claude W., and an infant, Forrest G. Trammell.
Surviving: a brother, Neil Trammell, Breckenridge, Mo.; and a sister, Willa H. Wybrow, Chillicothe.
Graveside service and burial: 4 p.m. Sunday, Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, near Chillicothe. Visitation: 1 to 8 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Norman-Wagy-Gordon Funeral Home, Chillicothe. There is no scheduled family visitation.
Charles J. Santo
1904-1999
FALLS CITY, Neb. -- Charles J. "Charlie" Santo, 95, Falls City, died Friday, March 12, 1999, at a health-care center in Falls City.
Mr. Santo farmed northeast of Falls City until moving into Falls City in 1982. He was a farmer and had feeder cattle.
Born in Fargo, Neb., on Feb. 22, 1904, he attended the Vaughn School District No. 25, north of Falls City.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Argo, Neb., and later SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Falls City.
On April 20, 1939, he married Bernice C. Sinclair. She survives of the home.
Mr. Santo was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. and Theresa; two brothers, Fritz and Edward; two sisters, Ruth Loyd and Laura Durfee; six half sisters, Mary Wissman, Kate Majerus, Ann Caverzagie, Louise Sprung, Theresa Larson and Josephine Santo; and a half brother, Lawrence.
Additional survivors: a daughter, Beverly Knobbe, Falls City; a son, Edward, Lincoln, Neb.; a sister, Helen Voegele, Falls City; a brother, Ralph, Falls City; a half sister, Sophie Reschke, Valley Falls, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
