Irene L. Fletchall

SABETHA, Kan. -- Irene Lucille (Bowron) Fletchall, 90, Sabetha, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999.
Mrs. Fletchall worked as a nurse's aide at the Sabetha Community Hospital for 14 years.
Born Oct. 1, 1908, in Goff, Kan., she attended the Sabetha high school. She also was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Sabetha.
On Dec. 21, 1926, she married Ben E. Fletchall. He died in 1958.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred F. and Florence A. Bowron; a brother, Bernard; and a sister, Ruth Clemens.
Surviving: a daughter, Violet Martin, Holton, Kan.; two grandsons; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 17 step-great-grandchildren.
Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Popkess Mortuary Chapel, Sabetha. Burial: Albany Cemetery, North of Sabetha. Visitation: anytime today or Monday at the funeral home. No family visitation is scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wesleyan Church in care of the funeral home.

Debra Ann (Blanton) Graham, 43, St. Joseph, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at her home.
Born June 27, 1955, in St. Joseph, Mrs. Graham was baptized in the Mitchell Park Christian Church.
Having worked in the field of learning skills for 20 years, she had been employed as a learning skills instructor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home, Apple Valley, Calif., before returning to St. Joseph.
Mrs. Graham was preceded in death by her father, Francis Blanton.
Surviving: a son, Erik Quick, St. Joseph; and her mother, Laveta Collier, St. Joseph.
There will be no visitation or services. The body has been cremated. Arrangements: Gladden-Stamey Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
Mary I. Graham

SABETHA, Kan. -- Mary Isabelle Graham, 96, Sabetha, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at a Sabetha health-care center.
Miss Graham worked as a clerk at the Haines Store until 1940, when she began work as a bookkeeper for Farmers State Bank. She retired in 1974.
Born Sept. 2, 1902, in Sabetha, she was a graduate of Sabetha High School. She also was a member of the First Congregational Church and Business Professional Women, both of Sabetha.
Miss Graham was preceded in death by her parents, David and Edna; and a sister, Marjorie.
Surviving: a cousin, Mikel Cole, Carthage, Mo.
Service: 2 p.m. Monday, Popkess Mortuary Chapel, Sabetha. Burial: Sabetha Cemetery. Family visitation: 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church and the Sabetha Community Hospital in care of the funeral home.
Estel Laderoute

Estel Laderoute, 76, St. Joseph, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Laderoute retired in 1979 as a construction worker with Local No. 579 Labor Union. He was the former owner and operator of Laderoute Real Estate, had owned his own trucking business and had farmed in the Helena, Mo., area.
Born May 24, 1922, in Avenue City, Mo., he also had been a resident of Helena and Savannah, Mo. He had resided in St. Joseph since 1962.
Mr. Laderoute was a member of Community Presbyterian Church, St. Joseph.
On November 26, 1940, he married Anna Maude Stuart in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius E. and Susie A.; and a grandson, Gary L. Jr.
Additional Survivors: a daughter, Joyce E. Warden, St. Joseph; two sons, Charles D., Boxford, Mass., and Gary L., St. Joseph; a brother, Clarence A., Atlanta; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Monday, Meierhoffer Chapel, St. Joseph. Interment: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Community Presbyterian Church.
Vena H. Lee

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. -- Vena H. (Holt) Lee, 87, Lee's Summit, formerly of St. Joseph, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999.
Born March 23, 1911, in Stewartsville, Mo., Mrs. Lee worked as a secretary for the Department of Agriculture's Office of Information.
She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church, Falls Church, Va., and the China Painter's Guild.
Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M.; and her parents, Charles and Melissa Holt.
Surviving: a son, Don, Blue Springs, Mo.; three daughters, Alice Hamilton, Grain Valley, Mo., Ruth Lowden, Blue Springs, and Judy Terry, St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Margaret Miller

SMITHVILLE, Mo. -- Margaret (Wilson) Miller, 79, Smithville, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at her home.
Mrs. Miller worked as a librarian at the University of Minnesota and later in the Animal Science division of that university.
Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Minneapolis, she graduated from Marshall High School, Minneapolis.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Christian Church, Alpha Club, and Pathfinder's, all of Smithville. She also was a member of the American Angus Association, the Preston Township Election Board, and the Kansas City International Visitor's Bureau.
On Feb. 12, 1949, she married David R. Miller. He died in 1998.
Mrs. Miller also was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew J. and Margaret B. Wilson; and a sister, Jessie Todnem.
Surviving: two sons, David W. and Rader L., both of Smithville; two daughters, Margaret A., Columbia, Mo., and Laurie A., Palo Alto, Calif.; a brother, George W., Coquille, Ore.; and six grandchildren.

L. Dean Neuforth
1921-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- L. Dean Neuforth, 77, Atchison, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at an Atchison hospital.
Mr. Neuforth worked as a professor of art at Yuma (Ariz.) High School, and at Wesleyan colleges in Macon, Ga., and Owensburg, Ky. He also was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Atchison.
Born Feb. 1, 1921, in Great Bend, Kan., he graduated from high school there and attended Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan. He received a bachelor's degree from the Kansas City Art Institute and a master's degree from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque.
On April 16, 1956, Mr. Neuforth married Hazel Overmiller in Larned, Kan. She survives of the home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Bessie; and a brother, Glenn.
Additional survivors: a son, Eric L., Plattsburg, Mo.; a daughter, Miriam Stack, Moncure, N.C.; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

Virgil G. Peterson
FAIRVIEW, Kan. -- Virgil G. Peterson, 78, Fairview, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at a hospital in Sabetha, Kan.
Mr. Peterson was employed at Flair Fold Wood Fabrication Factory, Hiawatha, Kan., for seven years before his retirement in 1982.
Born near Fairview, he was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Hiawatha.
Surviving: his wife, Jean, of the home; two daughters, Kathleen Sechler, Wichita, Kan., and Pamela Davis, Derby, Kan.; two sisters, Mary E. Neibling, Highland, Kan., and Mildred Housh, Hiawatha; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

BETHANY, Mo. -- Lucille Price , 96, Bethany, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at a Bethany health-care center.
Born Sept. 4, 1902, in Harrison County, Mo., Mrs. Price was a homemaker and had volunteered for the RSVP Program. She also was a member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, Bethany.
Her husband, Oral J. Price , preceded her in death in 1969.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Hinman and Gertrude Lawrence; two sons, Arlo and Lawrence E.; a brother, Kenneth L.; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
Surviving: a son, Vernon, Bethany; a daughter, Carol Prewitt, Trenton, Mo.; a sister, Fern Wiley, Ridgeway, Mo.; eight grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Raymond G. Robins

EAGLEVILLE, Mo. -- Raymond G. Robins, 48, Eagleville, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at a hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Born on August 4, 1950, in Leon, Iowa, Mr. Robins worked as an industrial maintenance mechanic at Osceola Foods in Osceola, Iowa.
Mr. Robins was the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 229 in Eagleville and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He also was a member of Mt. Pleasant 2 Baptist Church, Blythedale, Mo.
He married Carol Latham on February 20, 1982. She survives of the home.

JAMESPORT, Mo. -- Chester Alan Ropp, infant son of Lester and Wendy (Schrock) Ropp of Jamesport, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at a Chillicothe, Mo., hospital.
He was born Sept. 18, 1998, in Daviess County, Mo.
Surviving: his parents; two brothers, Dean Ray and Darwin Lee, both of the home; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Velma Schrock, Jamesport; and his paternal grandparents, Henry and Susie Ropp, also of Jamesport.

Dorothy M. Skinner

BETHANY, Mo. -- Dorothy Maxine Skinner, 70, Bethany, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mrs. Skinner was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Bethany.
Born January 4, 1929, in Lafayette County, Mo., she had lived in Cainsville, Mo., before moving to Bethany in 1990.
She married Raymond D. Skinner on March 30, 1952. He died in 1990.
Mrs. Skinner also was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Martha Breshears.
Surviving: two daughters, Darlene Osmon, Bethany and Dorothy Whitney, Hermitage, Penn.; one sister, Anna L Williams, Marshall, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Viola J. Tanner

RIDGEWAY, Mo. -- Viola Jane Tanner, 72, Ridgeway, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at a Liberty, Mo. hospital.
Born July 26, 1926, in Columbia, Mo., Mrs. Tanner lived in the Ridgeway area for 33 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Morris Chapel Church.
She was married to Frederic C. Tanner on February 17, 1946, in Columbia. He survives of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ida Melloway; and a sister, Chloe.

Harold L. Nigh
1916-1999
PRINCETON, Mo. -- Harold Leroy Nigh, 82, Princeton, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at his home.
Mr. Nigh worked as a radiator mechanic at the Carlisle Ford Motor Co., Princeton, for more than 20 years. He later worked for the city of Princeton in the water plant for more than 15 years. After his retirement from the city, he worked with Ralph McQuerry in his farm for several years, and sold garden produce at the Princeton Farmer's Market.
Born July 10, 1916, in Spickard, Mo., he was a graduate of Spickard High School. He was a member of the Princeton First Christian Church and the Princeton Country Club.
On April 1, 1936, he married Kathryn Moore. She survives of the home.
Mr. Nigh was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie C. and Opal.
