George M. Clark
1917-1999
HELENA, Mo. -- George M. Clark, 81, Helena, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at a health-care center in Savannah, Mo., following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Clark owned and operated Clark's D-X Service in Helena from 1938 until retiring in 1991.
Born in Cosby, Mo., on May 7, 1917, he lived most of his life in Helena.
Mr. Clark was a member of the Helena United Methodist Church and Helena Lions Club, of which he assisted in organizing and served as its first chartered president; and Eagles Lodge. He also assisted in founding the Helena Volunteer Fire Department.
On Aug. 30, 1938, he married Myrna K. Wilkerson in Hiawatha, Kan. She survives of the home.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Cora Belle; five brothers, Harry, Aubrey, J.L., Carl and Dewitt; and two sisters, Mary Bowman and Geraldine Ebert.
Additional survivors: a son, Terry S., Savannah; two daughters, Sandra K. Grider, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Cheryl L. Campbell, St. Joseph; three brothers, Leon, Orosi, Calif., Jack D., Raytown, Mo., and Benny A., Platte City, Mo.; a sister, Katheron Schottel, Cosby, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

Robert E. Downey
1926-1999
CHILLICOTHE, Mo. -- Robert Eugene Downey, 73, Chillicothe, died Saturday, April 10, 1999, at a Kansas City hospital.
Mr. Downey was credit manager at Armco Steel in Kansas City for 32 years until he retired in 1982. From 1982 to 1988, he worked at Merchants Metal in Kansas City and the United Consumers Federal Credit Union.
Born March 13, 1926, in Dennison, Ohio, he was a graduate of the Dennison High School. He also graduated from the University of Oklahoma and received a master's degree from Dartmouth University.
Mr. Downey served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of St. Columban's Catholic Church, Chillicothe; and a past president of the Kansas City, Mo., Wholesale Credit Association, and United Consumers Federal Credit Union.
On March 7, 1948, he married Jessie Elcyzyn in Oklahoma City. She survives of the home.
Mr. Downey was preceded in death by his son, Robert W.; and his parents, William E. and Martha.
Additional survivors: two sons, Gary W., Lee's Summit, Mo., and Timothy, Bates City, Mo.; a daughter, Deborah Comer, Chillicothe; two brothers, Tom and Richard, both of Houston; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Raylotha Craddock
1925-1999
ATCHISON, Kan. -- Raylotha (Banks) Craddock, 73, Atchison, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at the Atchison Hospital.
Mrs. Craddock was employed by at the Atchison Hospital, the former Atchison County Nursing Home, Holly's Nursing Home, Mount Scholastica Convent and retired from the Happy Hearts Preschool, all of Atchison, where she served as a teacher.
Born in Supulpa, Okla., on July 21, 1925, she moved with her family as a child to Atchison and attended Atchison High School.
Mrs. Craddock was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, Atchison, where she sang in the choir and served as an usher; and Koran County No. 37, Order of the Eastern Star, Kansas City, Kan. She was a charter member of the Club Riviera of Atchison.
In 1966, she became a foster parent with the Social and Rehabilitation Services in Atchison, and most recently, contracted with Another Chance Foster Care.
She married Harry Craddock 50 years ago. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Craddock was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Florence Banks; and 17 brothers and sisters.

Craddock, all of Atchison, and Vickie White and Jorganna Rodriquez, both of Leavenworth, Kan.; two sons, David J. Reynolds, Atchison, and Alfonso Dabney, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Lawrence Banks, St. Joseph; two sisters, Vera Mimms and Thelma Jones, both of Albuquerque, N.M.; 21 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Charles A. Lockwood

LANCASTER, Kan. -- Charles Austin Lockwood, 90, Lancaster, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at his residence.
Mr. Lockwood, a farmer, also worked as a carpenter, at a lumber yard in Effingham, Kan., and as a custodian at the Effingham high school and later the Effingham middle school.
Born in the Brush Creek community, near Horton, Kan., on Aug. 28, 1908, he attended the Effingham high school and was a member of the Effingham Union Church.
On Feb. 3, 1941, he married Dorothy M. Hampton. She died in 1990.
Mr. Lockwood also was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Mary E.; and five brothers and two sisters.
Surviving: a daughter, Carol Wehking, Lancaster; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Leota F. Randall

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- Leota F. "Bo" (Barrett) Randall, 70, Manhattan, formerly of St. Joseph, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at a hospital in Manhattan.
Mrs. Randall was employed by McCall's pattern factory in Manhattan. She also was a cook at hospitals, and college dormitories and fraternity houses.
Born in Agra, Okla., on Feb. 25, 1929, she lived in Bethany, Mo., before moving to St. Joseph as a teenager. She moved from St. Joseph to Manhattan after her marriage.
Mrs. Randall attended Lafayette High School in St. Joseph and was of the Protestant-Christian faith. She attended the Community Christian Church in St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dorsie L. Randall; her parents, Lloyd Barrett and Orra Barrett Kelly; her stepfather, W.C. Kelly; a sister, Betty Jo Burgman; and a grandchild.
Surviving: two sons, Ronald, Manhattan, and Roger, Blue Springs, Mo.; a stepson, Dorsie, Arizona; two daughters, Patricia Ruiz, Albuquerque, N.M., and Pamela Banka, Topeka, Kan.; a brother, George Kelly, St. Joseph; two sisters, Mildred Foster and Mary Claar, both of St. Joseph; and five grandchildren.

Yerby W. Reynolds IV
1917-1999
Yerby Wilson Reynolds IV, 82, St. Joseph, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Mr. Reynolds, born in Sparta, Mo., on Feb. 23, 1917, lived in the St. Joseph area for most of his life. He attended Faucett (Mo.) High School.
A farmer, he also worked as a yardman and weigh master at the St. Joseph Stockyards for 30 years.
Mr. Reynolds was a member of the Sparta United Methodist Church, Sparta Cemetery Association and Willow Brook Community Club.
On Aug. 16, 1941, he married Mary Taylor in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.
Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents, Yerby W. III and Lulu; and an infant sister.

Wayne H. Rice

MAYSVILLE, Mo. -- Wayne Hadley Rice, 90, Maysville, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at a Maysville health-care center.
Mr. Rice, a farmer in the Fairport, Mo., area, moved to Kansas City in 1956. He was employed by the North Kansas City, Mo., Golden Oaks School as a custodian until retiring in 1971.
Born in DeKalb County, Mo., on May 13, 1908, he was reared near Fairport. He moved from Kansas City to Roscoe, Mo., in 1971 and to Holden, Mo., until returning to Maysville in 1985.
He was a member of the Baptist faith and attended DeKalb County schools.
In 1929, he married Georgia M. Newby. She died in 1961. Then he married Pearl N. Mynatt on Jan. 16, 1971, in Kansas City. She died in 1993.
Mr. Rice also was preceded in death by two sons, Lawrence L. and Donald E.; his parents Tolivar C. and Abby N.; and a brother, Gerald.
Surviving: three sons, Leo D., Dundas, Ontario, Canada, Jack W., Farber, Mo., and Edgar T., Kansas City; three stepsons, W. David Mynatt, Kansas City, Vernard Mynatt, El Paso, Texas, and Bernard Mynatt, Kearney, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Verla M. Linard, Harrisonville, Mo.; a brother, Bert D., Maysville; a sister, Alameda K. Endicott, Maysville; 14 grandchildren; 19 stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 31 step great-grandchildren; and seven step great-great-grandchildren.

Lester J. Schultz

FALLS CITY, Neb. -- Lester J. Schultz, 82, Falls City, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at the Falls City hospital.
Mr. Schultz was engaged in farming near Reserve, Kan., until his retirement in 1983.
He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Born in Arago Precinct, near Falls City, on Sept. 15, 1916, he moved into Falls City in 1977. He attended the Little Chapel rural school, near Reserve, Kan.
Mr. Schultz was a member of the First Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and American Legion Post, all of Falls City.
On Nov. 9, 1942, he married Hazel Neff. They were later divorced. Then on Nov. 5, 1983, he married Dorothy Perry. She survives of the home.
Mr. Schultz was preceded in death by his parents, Alex L. and Amelia J.

Wendy L. Wilkerson, 23, St. Joseph, died Monday, April 12, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born in St. Joseph on Nov. 3, 1975, Miss Wilkerson was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
She attended the United Cerebral Palsy Development Center and was a graduate of the Helen Davis State School.
Surviving: her parents, Jerry M. and Barbara A. Wilkerson of the home; a brother, Michael, St. Joseph; paternal grandmother, Mary Wilkerson, Chillicothe, Mo.; and maternal grandparents, Bill and Earlene McFadden, Couer d'Alene, Idaho.

Allen Willoughby
1919-1999
Allen Willoughby, 80, St. Joseph, died Sunday, April 11, 1999, at a St. Joseph hospital.
Born in Indianapolis on Feb. 24, 1999, Mr. Willoughby lived in Louisville, Ky., before moving to St. Joseph in 1947.
He worked at the former Anchor Serum for many years and then for Teamsters Union Local No. 460 in highway construction, retiring in 1982.
A Christian, Mr. Willoughby was a member of Teamsters Union Local No. 460.
In 1938, he married Alma Catlett. She died in 1977.
Mr. Willoughby also was preceded in death by a son, William; his parents, Pleasant and Nellie; four brothers, Russell, James, Robert and Julian; a sister, Dollie Bohmbach; and two grandchildren.
Surviving: three sons, Michael, Wallace, Mo., Delbert, St. Joseph, and James, Batesville, Ark.; a daughter, Jane Minton, St. Joseph; a sister, Laura J. Jaggers, Topeka, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and Peggy Horsman, who cared for him in his home.
Graveside service and burial: 2 p.m. Thursday, Ashland Cemetery, St. Joseph. Family visitation: 7 to 9 tonight at the Rupp Funeral Home, St. Joseph.
William W. Edwards
1923-1999
RATON, N.M. -- William Wilford Edwards, 75, Raton, formerly of Hamilton, Mo., died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at a hospital in Raton.
Mr. Edwards had been employed as a service station attendant in Raton until retiring. Born in Hamilton on Nov. 10, 1923, he attended schools in Hamilton and Winston, Mo. He moved from Winston to Raton in his early 20s.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raton.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac L. and Grace; his stepmother, Edna Edwards; a brother, Donald L.; a stepbrother, Gerry Morrow; and a sister, Virginia G. Pesikan.
Surviving: three brothers, Lawrence L., Grand Junction, Colo., Isaac W., Middletown, Conn., and Kenneth, Fayetteville, Pa.; a stepbrother, Frank Morrow, Raton; four sisters, Jewel King, St. Joseph, Dorothy Larson, Fairbanks, Alaska, Jean Ridenour, Raton, and Lily Bigley, Vernon, Conn.; and three stepsisters, Lenora Morrow, Portland, Ore., Sarah Moulin, Hollister, Mo., and Phyllis Colburn, Brent, Ala.
Inurnment: 3 p.m. Sunday, Highland Cemetery, Hamilton. The body was cremated following the service. A funeral service also was held Tuesday, April 6, at the Errington Memorial Chapel in Raton.
Gladys I. Jenkins
1904-1999
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Gladys I. (Eisenbise) Jenkins, 94, Arlington, formerly of Morrill, Kan., died Wednesday, April 14, 1999, at the home of her son, Russell E., in Arlington.
Mrs. Jenkins had been a registered nurse at hospitals in Casper, Wyo.; and Lincoln and Falls City, Neb. She also had done private duty nursing.
Born in Morrill on Aug. 5, 1904, she was reared in Morrill and had lived in Lincoln after her marriage and later returned to Morrill. She entered a health-care center in Sabetha, Kan., in 1996 and had been a resident of Arlington since 1998.
Mrs. Jenkins graduated from the Morrill high school and Lincoln General Hospital, School of Nursing, in Lincoln. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren and attended the Corner Stone Bible Church, both of Morrill.
On Aug. 1, 1934, she married Ross D. Jenkins in Morrill. He died in 1978.
Mrs. Jenkins also was preceded in death by her parents, David M. and Elizabeth Eisenbise; and four brothers and a sister.
Additional survivors: a sister, Mary Friesen, Scotts Valley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
