Melba Mildred Homan, age 90, of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and formerly of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 16, 2002 at home.
She was born July 19, 1912 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of LeRoy and Daisy Lightfoot Preston. She attended schools in Kansas City and Carrollton, Missouri. She married Raymond M. Homan on February 22, 1947 in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1996. Melba was a housewife and mother.
She is survived by three sons, Gene Long, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Joe Long, Rockport, Texas, Wilber Long, Conifer, Colorado; three daughters, Barbara Lungren, Raytown, Missouri, Janet Smith, Bowling Green, Missouri, Louise Jaeger, Burlington, Iowa; one sister, Betty Mae Rose, Kansas City, Missouri; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty-two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; step-mother and one son, Charles Long, Spokane, Washington; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 19, 2002 from 7-8:30 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri

Roy Allen Glenn, age 72, of Tina, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at his home.
He was born July 9, 1930 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the son of Noland and Verna Mae Wells Glenn. He attended White's Island Grade School. He was a dozer operator; and an OTR Truck Driver for ten years; driving for Matlak and Kaw Truck Lines. He was a member of the Tina Baptist Church, Tina, Missouri; and a Mason with Wakanda Lodge #52 AF & AM.
He was married to Betty Arnold in Carroll County, Missouri. She survives at the home.
He is also survived by two sons, Tom Glenn and Noland Glenn; one daughter, Kathy Brown; four step sons, Terry Arnold, Billy Arnold, Dale Arnold and Bob Arnold; two step daughters, Mary Sue Hamblen, Jamie Norris; seven grandchildren and fifteen step grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; and one step great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with a Masonic Service at 8:00 p.m.

Edward E. "Eddie" Steiman, II, age 67, of Triplett, Missouri died September 19, 2002 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. He was born June 22, 1935 at Dalton, Missouri, the son of Eddie E. Steiman and Virlea Johnson Steiman Goe. Eddie attended school at Dalton and Keytesville. Eddie's career was farming. His hobbies included collecting Antique John Deere farm equipment and John Deere memorabilia. He had a large collection of rare coins and many different kinds of antiques including over 200 food grinders. He had a collection of over 600 different kinds of cast iron implement seats. When his cast iron seat collection was sold in 1999, people came from many states for the sale, including seven providences of Canada. Eddie was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Brunswick. He served on the Triplett Township Board for several years. Eddie married Doris Virginia "Cookie" Rasmussen of Salisbury on June 18, 1961. He is survived by a son, Mark Steiman and wife, Luann, of Triplett, a daughter, Carla Watts and husband, Terry, of Sumner, and an adopted son, Tom Steiman of Cincinnati, Ohio; and four grandchildren. He had one sister, Sandra and her husband, Bill Blunk of Brunswick. Visitation was held Sunday, September 22, at the Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. The funeral was held September 23, 2002, at St. John's Lutheran Church at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Glen Drewitz officiating. Burial was at McCullough Cemetery in Triplett. Memorials were suggested to the St. John's Lutheran Church Repairs Fund, Missouri Kidney Foundation or to Cancer Research.
Edward S. Grimes, age 66, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri.
He was born April 29, 1936 in Carrollton, Missouri the son of Sanford and Freeda Houseworth Grimes. He graduated from Carrollton High School.
He married Carolyn Endicott June 10, 1961 in Wakenda, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Ed retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant; prior to that he worked at Banquet Foods; owned Ed's MFA Service Station; and operated the food concession at Sarbaugh Auctions. He also sponsored the "Krazy Kats" for several years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was actively involved in the First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri. Ed was a member of the Kiwanis Club, where he had served as president from 1979 to 1980.
He is also survived by one son, Evan Grimes, Columbia, Missouri; four daughters, Gina Pointer and husband, Mitch, Carrollton, Missouri, Pam Carney, Blue Springs, Missouri, Melanie Gazaway and husband, Dax, San Rafael, California and Cori Grimes, Columbia, Missouri; his mother, Freeda Smart, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Jettie Clemens, Stet, Missouri; one brother, Johnnie Smart, Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Sharona, Joelleen, Justin and Tucker Pointer, Grandon and Bridget DiStefano, Shea Carney and Mazzy Gazaway; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Sanford Grimes; and his stepfather, John Smart.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Joe Barone and Reverend Brett Daily officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.

Debra Jane Lawson Wright, age 52, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2002 in Ray County, Missouri.
She was born March 7, 1950 in Kirksville, Missouri the daughter of Harm D. and Betty Jane Norfolk Lawson. She attended schools in Bogard and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1968. She earned a B. A. Degree from Park College. Debra was employed at the Higginsville Habilitation Center as a HAB Specialist. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
Debra is survived by two sons, William Wright, Kansas City, Missouri, Christopher Wright, Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Rebekah Perkins and husband, Randy, Carrollton, Missouri; Jennifer Charlton, Carrollton, Missouri; three brothers, Paul Lawson and Dennis Lawson, both of Carrollton, Missouri, Dale Lawson, Warrensburg, Missouri; two sisters, Cheryl Anthony and husband, Allan, Raymore, Missouri, Brenda Boling and husband, Jim, Carrollton, Missouri; four grandsons, Matthew and Tyler Charlton, Carrollton, Missouri; and Joshua and Nicholas Wright, Belton, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, one brother, Frank, maternal ; and paternal grandparents.

Sara Beth Wright, age 29, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2002 in Ray County, Missouri.
She was born June 29, 1973 in Carrollton, Missouri the daughter of Ronald E. and Debra Jane Lawson Wright. She graduated from Carrollton High School. Sara had been employed as a cook. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
Sara is survived by her father, Ronald; and step mother, Fran L. Wright, Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, William Wright, Kansas City, Missouri, Christopher Wright, Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters, Jennifer Charlton, Carrollton, Missouri, Rebekah Perkins, Carrollton, Missouri; two step brothers, Mark Martin, State of Oklahoma, Tommy Martin, Independence, Missouri; two step sisters, Brenda Jones, Independence, Missouri; and Theresa Jones, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, an uncle and paternal grandparents.

Elbert Shankle, age 89, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born May 7, 1913 in Carroll County, Missouri the son of Lewis Albert and Bru Nettie Stanley Shankle. He attended Powell School. Elbert was a farmer; and from 1950 to 1973, he was a machinery mechanic in Chillicothe, Missouri and Carrollton, Missouri. He returned to farming after retirement in Carroll County. During his retirement, he also operated the Trotter Township road grader.
On December 23, 1951 he married Fannie Louise Owens in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at her home.
He is also survived by one son, Ernest Shankle, Carrollton, Missouri; two daughters, Mary Ellen Houseworth, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Elouise Hager, Higginsville, Missouri; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eunice.
Funeral services were at 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home.

Ralph L. Brammer, age 91, died at New Haven Nursing Home, Odessa, Missouri, Friday, September 27, 2002.
Ralph was born February 4, 1911 the son of John and Ada Strickland Brammer.
He graduated from Tina High School, was a farmer in the Van Horn Township for several years and operated a service station on Highway 65.
On December 28, 1933 he married Eloise Walker Brammer. She died March 6, 1981. On June 5, 1983 he married Helen Anders. She survives at Odessa, Missouri.
Other survivors include two sons, Ronald and wife Vera, Carrollton, Missouri, Darrell and wife Judy, Greenwood, Missouri; six grandchildren, Randall Brammer, Bogard, Missouri, Steve Brammer, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Dennis Brammer, Gallatin, Missouri, Mark Scholle, Carrollton, Missouri, Kyle Brammer, Greenwood, Missouri and Melanie Brammer, Blacksburg, Virginia; seven great grandchildren, Celia, Jeremy, and Renee, Bogard, Missouri, Stephanie and Brent, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Breanne and Dane, Gallatin, Missouri; three sisters, Lois Walker, Tina, Missouri, Fern Weiss, Topeka, Kansas and Doris Mitchell, Lee's Summit, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Shirley Scholle; and two sisters, Margaret Reynolds and Bessie Lingenfelter.

Frances Mae Carr Pennington, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Saturday, September 28, 2002 at Carroll House, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born December 12, 1922 in Sweet Springs, Missouri the daughter of Elmer Little and Mellie Harman Carr. She attended Elmwood School.
On November 5, 1940 she married Curtis Garner Pennington, Sr. in Marshall, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 26, 1995. She was a wife and mother. She had resided in Macon, Georgia 1940-1942, Sweet Springs, Missouri 1942-1954, Carrollton, Missouri 1954-1977, Norborne, Missouri 1977-1999; and Carrollton, Missouri 1999-2002. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri and Rebeccah Order of Odd Fellows.
She is survived by three sons, Clarence Pennington and wife Barbara, Carrollton, Missouri, Curtis Pennington, Jr. and wife Myrna, Lenexa, Kansas, Robert Pennington and wife Phyllis, Bogard, Missouri; four daughters, Clara Bish and husband Glenn, Bogard, Missouri, Mary O'Neal, Joplin, Missouri, Nancy Gonzalez and husband Cesar, Carrollton, Missouri, Regina King and husband Donnie, Carrollton, Missouri; two brothers, J. C. and Bill Carr; one sister, Josephine Carver; seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter-in-law, Sarah Pennington; one grandson, Ricky Lynn Pennington; one brother and three sisters.

Asa Doss, age 103, of Salisbury, Missouri passed away Monday, September 30, 2002 at the Chariton Park Health Center.
He was born February 20, 1899 in Rothville, Missouri the son of James and Janette Terrill Doss. He was a farmer. On August 27, 1919 he married Leona Coons. She preceded him in death in 1981. He is survived by one son, Harold Doss, Kirkland, Washington; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Nadine Zuerl. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 3, 2002 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Gail Brown officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service.
