Manning
Jack M. Manning, age 73, formerly of Carrollton, Missouri, died December 3, 1998, at his home in Lakewood, Colorado.
He was born August 28, 1925, in Carrollton, the son of Clay M. and Ethel L. Bargold Manning. He attended schools in Carrollton and served in the US Army. He was a farmer.
Survivors include two daughters, Kellie Montoya, Denver, Colorado, and Misty Bishop, Mountain View, Colorado; one sister, Pauline Fleming, Sun City West, Arizona; and three grandchildren, Jaclyn, Loren and Calvin.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 8, 1998, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Jim West. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.
The family suggests contributions to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Mr. Manning.
Layton
Mary Frances Layton, 81, of Waverly, Missouri, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, November 29, 1998, at Lafayette Regional Hospital in Lexington, Missouri.
She was born in Waverly on December 14, 1916, to Susan Alice Lynn Tomlin and George A. Tomlin, Sr. She attended Waverly schools and married Charles J. Layton, Sr. in Carrollton, Missouri, on December 31, 1932.
She was employed at Dunhill Shirt Company in Lexington and Lake City Arsenal. In later years years she owned and operated Tri-County Produce in Waverly with her husband, Charles until their retirement.
She was the oldest living member of the Waverly Assembly of God Church of which she and her husband were founding members.
She is survived by three sons, Charles J. Layton, Jr., Lexington, George F. Layton and William J. Layton, both of Waverly; three daughters, Mary J. Bollmeyer, Lexington, Anna M. Grinder, Waverly, and Alice M. Leasure, Kirksville, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great- grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law, Mary E. Layton and Laverne Layton Fairburg, both of Lexington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, George Tomlin, Jr. in 1983, and her husband, Charles J. (Tex) Layton, Sr. in 1989.
She touched the lives of all that knew her with her unfailing love, her beautiful spirit, her generous nature, her compassionate and caring attitude towards everyone, her love for her family and friends and her Lord. She will be sadly missed by everyone.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 3. 1998, at the First Assembly of God Church in Waverly, with Reverend Jason Sorgenfrei officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M., Wednesday at the Gibson Funeral Home in Waverly.

KING
Mark I. King, age 93, of Carrollton, Missouri, died January 30, 1999, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 19, 1905, in Parsons, Kansas, the son of Charles Paul and Mary Belle O'Farrell King. He attended school in Parsons.
He worked in the automotive business, in the certified milk business and as a certified milk processor. He worked for ten years for Carrollton Township as the maintainer operator and truck driver before retiring in 1967.
He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church, near Carrollton.
On November 23, 1932, he was married to Elvina Kitson in Carrollton. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include five sons, Charles King, Frederick, Maryland, Paul King, Carrollton, Wayne King, Kansas City, Missouri, Donald King and Kenneth King, both of Carrollton; three daughters, Rosemary Baldwin, Oak Grove, Missouri, Darlene King Albrecht, Carrollton, and Janet King Pinion, St. Joseph, Missouri; one sister, Cecile Murray, Aurora, Colorado; 23 grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Billy Dale, David Eugene and John Isaac King, two brothers; five sisters and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 2, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Ron Marsh. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton.

WALDEN
Thomas Allen Walden, Sr. age 65, of Carrollton, Missouri, died January 23, 1999, at the Ellis Fischel Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
He was born April 14, 1933, in Miami Station, Missouri, the son of Thomas Gideon and Myrtle
Rader Walden. He attended Wakenda School.
He worked at Stanford Laundry and Just-Rite Dairy. He owned and operated Tom's Candy
Route, Walden's Cafe, Golden Cone, T.J.'s on the Square Restaurant and Walden's Restaurant in Cherryvale, Kansas.
He had served on the Carrollton City Council, the Police Board and the Wastewater Board.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, a member of the Wakanda Lodge #52 AF&AM;, where he was a Past Master, and a former member of the OES and True Kindred.
He was first married to Marie Jane West on August 7, 1951 in Henrietta, Missouri. She preceded him in death on May 14, 1984. He was then married to Josephine McGee Wheeler on July 3, 1985 in the RLDS Church in Carrollton. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Allen Walden and wife, DeLynn, Kingwood, Texas; Steve Walden, and Kevin Walden and wife Linda, all of Carrollton; seven sisters, Donna Ware, Lexington, Missouri, Joan Dobbins, Napoleon, Missouri, Sandra Standley, Phoenix, Arizona, Dixie Madison, Salem, Oregon, Audrey Wohlgemuth, Carrollton, Gayle Ketron, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, and Debbie Todd, Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Ivan Walden, Excelsior Springs; five step-sons, Joe Wheeler, Carrollton, Danny Lee Wheeler, Hooks, Texas, Larry Wheeler, Warrensburg, Missouri, Steve Wheeler, Plattsburg, Missouri, and Rick Wheeler, Carrollton; and one step-daughter, Gloria Mitchel, Warrensburg; six grandchildren, Nicole and Justin Walden, Kingwood, Texas, Nellie and Abbie Walden, Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Michael and Kayla Carter, Carrollton; twelve step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Voncelli England and his parents.
Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 26, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Lanny Lybarger. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.

RUTH FORD
A Carrollton, Missouri resident, 82 year old, Mrs. Ruth Ford, passed away, Friday, February 19, at her home.
Ruth was born August 29, 1916 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; the daughter of Clifford and Alice Verry Titus. She graduated from high school in Wayne, Nebraska.
Ruth was married to Marion Ford on February 14, 1973 in Marshall, Missouri. He survives at the home.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge in Carrollton, MO .
Survivors include her husband; one son, Clifford Cox, Omaha, Nebraska;one daughter, Carol Abbott, Campment, Wyoming; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gordon Titus;Sharon Springs, Kansas and two sisters, Erma Williams, Wallace, Kansas and Alice Davis, Cheyene, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one grandson.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 22, 1999 at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO with the Reverend Jim West officiating.

BIESEMEYER OBITUARY
Phillip Louis Biesemeyer, 90, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, died Thursday, February 11, 1999, at the Autumn Oaks Nursing Home.
Phillip was born December 22, 1908, in Grand Pass, Missouri, the son of Fredrick and Fredrika Arnesmeyer Biesemeyer. He received a portion of his education in the Grand Pass School and attended college.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of the St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Grand Pass, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; three sons, Louis Biesemeyer, Mountain Grove, Lawrence Biesemeyer, Bolingbrook, Illinois, Phillip Louis Biesemeyer, Jr., Claremore, Oklahoma; two daughters, Mildred McMellen, Fenton, Michigan, and Anna Leto, Hinsdale, Illinois; eighteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Phillip was preceded in death by his first wife, one sister and four brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 15, 1999, at the St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Grand Pass, Missouri, with the Reverend Keith Stuart officiating. Burial was in the Mount Nebo Cemetery, Grand Pass.

FRANCES SMITH
Frances Hatcher Smith, age 95, of Carrollton, Missouri, died February 12, 1999, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital Extended Care.
She was born March 31, 1903, in Carroll County, the daughter of Charles and Minnie Settles Hatcher.
She was a housewife and a life-long resident of Carroll County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carrollton.
On July 30, 1927, she married Horace S. Smith. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1984.
She is survived by three sons: Charles Smith and wife, Claudia, Raytown, Missouri, Donald Smith, Carrollton, and Dale Smith, and wife, Nancy, Carrollton; a daughter-in-law, Dixie Smith, Carrollton; one brother, J. S. Hatcher, St. Joseph, Missouri; two grandsons; one granddaughter; several step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, James S. Smith, two grandsons, two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were conducted by Reverend Ron Marsh at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 15, 1999, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton.

BERNING
Mary I. Berning, age 76, of Carrollton, Missouri, died February 4, 1999, at the Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born January 15, 1923, near Orrick, Missouri, the daughter of Robert E. and Charlotte Jones Thomas.
She worked at the Martin Berning Agency in Carrollton, which she and her husband later owned.
She was a member of the Carrollton United Methodist Church.
On December 22, 1943, she was married to Glen Berning by Reverend Thomas F. B. Smith in Carrollton, Missouri. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include a son, Bob Berning, and his wife, Kathy, of Marshall, Missouri, and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert K. Thomas and Charles Bernard Thomas.
Graveside services were conducted by Reverend Lawrence Holt at 1:30 P.M., Monday, February 8, 1999, at the Carroll Memory Gardens.

FLEENER OBITUARY
Cecil Harold Fleener, age 81, of Carrollton, Missouri, died March 31, 1999, at the Carrollton Nursing Center.
He was born June 22, 1917, in Webb City, Missouri, the son of Bill and Sadie Mae Crain Fleener.
He attended Vernon County Schools and served in US Navy during World War II.
He worked as a butcher for Mulch's IGA for a number of years before his retirement.
He was a member of the Carrollton Kiwanis Club.
On May 22, 1939, he was married to Anna Bell Nutter in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gary (Ginger) Rolling, Lamars, Iowa; a son, Bill Fleener, Carrollton; four brothers, Kenneth Fleener, Nevada, Missouri, Warren Fleener, Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Forest Fleener, Nevada, Missouri, and Robert Fleener, Independence, Missouri; one sister, Mildred McNeece, Nevada, Missouri; seven grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Fay Ann, and a son, Harold K. and two brothers.
Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 2, 1999, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, conducted by Reverend Lee Borders.
There will be no set visitation; the body will lie in state Friday afternoon and evening until 8:00 P.M. at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.
