Elizabeth Henrietta Dilley, age 87, of Brunswick, Missouri, and a former Carrollton, Missouri resident, passed away Friday, May 30, 2003 at the Liberty Hospital. Elizabeth was born November 4, 1915, in rural DeWitt, Missouri, the daughter of Luther W. and Dora J. Crass Jenkins. She attended DeWitt High School and graduated from the Ponca City High School in Oklahoma. She was a member of the Brunswick Christian Church and a former member of the DeWitt Christian Church and the Carrollton Christian Church. On June 24, 1937, in Moberly, Missouri, she married Walter E. Dilley. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1998. Survivors include one sister, Dorinda Johnson of Brookfield, Missouri; two brothers, Harry Jenkins, DeWitt, Missouri, John Jenkins, Brunswick, Missouri; one half sister, Carolyn Hibner, Chillicothe, Missouri; three half brothers, Hugh Jenkins, DeWitt, Missouri, Roma Paul Jenkins, Liberty, Missouri, Pat Jenkins, DeWitt, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Marguerite Link. Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, 2003, at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri, with Gail Brown officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the Brunswick Christian Church in memory of Mrs. Dilley.
Stella Viola Rice, age 88, of Mendon, Missouri passed away Monday, June 2, 2003 at her home. She was born August 25, 1914 in Chariton County, Missouri the daughter of James H. and Ora Kate Cook Taylor. Stella married Verner Wesley Rice on April 9, 1939 in Marceline, Missouri. Verner preceded her in death in 1995. She had been a farm wife and loving mother. She was a member of the Mendon Christian Church where she had taught Sunday School for several years. She was also a member of the Army Mothers, the Christian Womens Fellowship, and the Friday Night Pitch Club, all of Mendon. Stella enjoyed and spent many hours quilting with her friends. She is survived by one son; Wayne Rice, Centralia, Missouri; one daughter, Betty Spencer, Mendon, Missouri; one sister, Velma Zimmerman, Salisbury, Missouri; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Doris Jean and Norma Lee Rice: one grandson, Scott Spencer and one brother, Luther Taylor. Funeral services will be held at the Mendon Christian Church in Mendon, Missouri on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at 10:30 a.m., with Gail Brown officiating. Visitation will be at the Mendon Christian Church on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 from 6-7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Newcomer Cemetery at Mendon, Missouri. Patricia Lander Wagaman, age 43, of Bogard, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 2, 2003 at Research Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
Patricia was born June 17, 1959 in Carrollton, Missouri the daughter of Donald E. Lander and Melva L. Scott Susewind. She attended Carrollton Public Schools.
On July 5, 1988 Patricia married David Wagaman in Carrollton, Missouri. He survives at the home. They lived in Kansas City, Missouri for seven years before moving to Bogard in 1990. Patricia had worked as a waitress in Kansas City and had been employed as a Line Supervisor in the sample department at Fuller Marketing, Inc.
Patricia is also survived by her mother, Melva Susewind, Norborne, Missouri; two sisters, Sherry Rutledge, Raytown, Missouri, Janet Garner and husband, Terry, Hardin, Missouri; one half sister, Dana Wright, Norborne, Missouri; two step brothers, Paul Boatman, Norborne, Missouri, Kenny Susewind and wife, Bonnie, Houston, Texas; three step sisters, Sheila Wright, Norborne, Missouri, Nona Andert and husband, Greg, St. Louis, Missouri, Lori McWilliams, Wichita, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and step father, Kenneth Susewind, Sr.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 7, 2003 at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.

Ivan Paul Busbee, age 84, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born August 1, 1918 in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Uylesses Grant and Berdella Knight Busbee. He attended school in Unionville and Lemons, Missouri and Bellville, Illinois. He was in the Army Air Corp during World War II. Paul was an Engineer for White Rogers in St. Louis, Missouri and Batesville, Arkansas; retiring after thirty-one years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Paul is survived by three daughters; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Disney and his twin, Pauline Sullivan.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 6, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Ken Criqui officiating. Military services will be at the church. Burial will be in Batesville, Arkansas.
Visitation will be 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Rosary at 8:00 p.m.

Alma Lucille Zahner, age 84, a former Mendon resident died on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 at the Lifecare Center of Brookfield, Brookfield, Missouri. She was born on October 21, 1918 in Linn County, Missouri, the daughter of Stephen Albert and Rosa Canfield Goosey. She married George James Zahner on November 10, 1937. George preceded her in death on December 4, 1990. She had been a homemaker and loving mother. She was a member of the Rothville Baptist Church, and the Army Mothers and the Friday Night Pitch Club, both of Mendon. She also enjoyed quilting. She is survived by three daughters; Marie Arp and husband, Clifford, Moberly, Missouri, Anna Louise Linscott and husband, Moyne, Brookfield, Missouri, Lois Wood and husband, Dennis, Junction City, Kansas; two sons, Donald Zahner, Mendon, Missouri, G. J. Zahner, Brookfield, Missouri; two brothers, Robert Canfield, Lincoln, Missouri, Richard Goosey, Mission, Texas; eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Doris Mudd; two brothers, Albert and Willard Goosey and one daughter-in-law, Roberta Zahner. Funeral services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home, Mendon, Missouri on Saturday, June 7, 2003 at 2:00 p.m., with Reverend Hillis Prather officiating. Mrs. Zahner will lie in state at the funeral home in Mendon on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will be in the Mendon Cemetery. Ellen Lucile Lake, 90, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Carroll County Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit.
The daughter of Walter E. and Chloe Arnold England, Lucile, was born at Saint Ann's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio on December 2, 1912.
At the age of 5 years her mother passed away in the flu epidemic, and she and her sister were brought to Missouri to be raised by an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. N. R. England, who were very devoted parents.
On September 25, 1932 she was married to Glenn E. Lake at Green Ridge, Missouri; he preceded her in death on March 17, 1992.
Lucile recived her education in country schools and was in Nurses Training in St. Louis, Missouri from 1931 until 1932.
Mrs. Lake was a member of the Bogard Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School class for several years and was a 4-H leader for 10 years.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, William Eugene and Donna Lake, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister, Elenore Sherman, Belleville, Kansas; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Jean Lake, Carrollton, MO, Dorothy Watskey, Carrollton, MO, and Faye Morrison, Jefferson City, MO; one brother-in-law, Lawrence Lake, Carrollton, MO; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great- grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by one son in infancy, one son, Robert, in 1995, four sisters, and two brothers.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at the Van Horn Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri with Reverend Don Gillispie and Reverend Ken Prewitt officiating.

Mrs. Zepherin Jeanne Goodson, 101, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003, at the Livingston Manor Care Center in Chillicothe, Missouri.
Zepherin was born on January 12, 1902 in Ludlow, Missouri; the daughter of James P. and Ethel Florence Snider Shields.
She attended country grade school and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1921.
Zepherin was married to Paul E. Goodson on June 11, 1922 at her parent's home; he preceded her in death on June 21, 1961.
She was employed at a hospital in Davenport, Iowa for forty-five years.
She was a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church, a 50+ member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, and the Quad City Plus 60 Club all of Davenport, Iowa.
Survivors include one son, Trenneth Morton Goodson of Davenport, Iowa; one sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Clarence Earl Samuels, Carrollton, Missouri; two granddaughters, Tammy Zepeda and Amy Goodson, Aliso Viejo, California; one sister-in-law, Melba Shields, Meadville, Missouri; ten nieces and nephews and many great- nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Glendon Shields and Ralph Shields and two sisters,
Dorothy Williams and Evelyn Schmidt.
She was a very vibrant person and loved everyone and was loved by everyone in return.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with the Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.

Lawrence Ernest Alfred Kruse, age 74, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
He was born September 24, 1928 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of Harry F. and Dena Christine Haselroth Kruse. He attended Judd County School, Trinity Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Stet High School. He served in the Korean War from 1951-1953. He attained the rank of Corporal while serving in the 40th Division, 578th (C) Engineers. He followed the occupation of farming most of his life. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri and Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Survivors include one son, Larry and Patti Kruse, Norborne, Missouri; three daughters, Sheryl Kruse, Bogard, Missouri, Sandra and Jim Famuliner, Carrollton, Missouri, Rhonda and Tad Green, Wooldridge, Missouri; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; one brother, Wyman and Kathleen Kruse, Rayville, Missouri; two sisters, Darlene and Frank Stevens, Liberty, Missouri and Deloris and Arno Moenning, Dodge Center, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2003 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating. Burial will be in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Missouri.

Sherman Payne Shields, age 83, Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at Research Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born January 23, 1920 in rural Tina, Missouri, to Frank Leslie and Lucy Jane Payne Shields.
He married E. Alice Jenkins in 1941. They were divorced in 1956. He married M. Sue George June 16, 1957. She survives him at her home near Carrollton, Missouri.
He is further survived by nine children, five daughters, Sharon and Jim Sumner, Kansas City North; Linda and Joe Wheeler, Carrollton, Missouri; LeAnn and Gary Corzine, St. Louis, Missouri; Jennifer and Jay Broyles, Hale, Missouri; Shanna and Shane Wilcox, Elkins, Arkansas; four sons, Jack Shields, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; Kevin Shields, Bosworth, Missouri; Sherman Wayne and Lorrie Shields, Carrollton, Missouri; and Paul David Shields, Carrollton, Missouri; twenty-three grandchildren, Steven Sumner, Kansas City North; Susan Fredericks, Savannah, Missouri; Joella Bennett, Malta Bend, Missouri; Jackie Plattner, Malta Bend, Missouri; Jamie Shields, Blue Springs, Missouri; Jeremy Shields, North Kansas City, Missouri; Kelly Shields, Columbia, Missouri; Sheila Williams, Brookfield, Missouri; Patrick Wheeler, Carrollton, Missouri; Christopher Shields, Bosworth, Missouri; Kimberly Shields, Slater, Missouri; Cathy Shields, US Navy, stationed in Virginia; Joshua Shields, Carrollton, Missouri; Jaylyn Dawn and Laveda Broyles, Hale, Missouri; and Michael and Candace Shields, Carrollton, Missouri; Gary, II and Heather Corzine, St. Louis, Missouri; Erica, Carrie and Sarah Robinson, and Mary Madison, Carrollton, Missouri. Twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews further survive him.
Two sisters also survive him, Christine Moore of Firestone, Colorado and Jennivive Knowlton, Cedaredge, Colorado.
His parents, three brothers; John Shields, James F. Shields and Wesley Aaron Shields and one sister, Vivian Wallace and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bruce Trussell officiating. Burial will be in Wharton Cemetery, Bosworth, Missouri.
Visitation will be Friday, June 20, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri from 6- 7:30 p.m., with a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.

Lorene K. Hartman, 81, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2003 at the Carrollton Nursing Center. Lorene was born December 27, 1921 in Carroll County, Missouri the daughter of Fred W. and Anna Sophia Scholle Hartman. She attended Rosebud School and was employed by the Banner Cookie Company. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri. Lorene is survived by several nieces and nephews, Charles R. Hartman, Boise, Idaho, Marilyn A. Solesbee, Gainesville, Texas, Judy E. Rich, Gordonville, Texas, and Michael L. Hartman, Carrollton, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Wilma Hartman, Carrollton, Missouri; several cousins and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Hartman and Harold Hartman.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Kim Scharff officiating.
The body will lie in state from 1-5:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
