Donald L. Callihan, 64, of Carrollton, MO died on Friday, June 20, 2003 at the North Kansas City Hospital. Donald was born on August 29, 1938 in Wakenda, MO the son of Edward and Frieda Huffman Callihan. He graduated from Carrollton High School in 1956. Donald married Shirley McNish on October 3, 1961 at Carrollton, MO. Donald was retired. He had worked twenty-eight years for the Ray-Carroll Elevator at Wakenda. He was a former member of the Wakenda Methodist Church and a former member of the Wakenda Town Board.Donald is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; one daughter, Cathy Adkins and one son, Gerald Callihan both of Carrollton, MO; one sister, Bonnie Endicott of Independence, MO; two brothers, Ben Callihan of Sunrise Beach, MO and William Gordon Callihan of Cole Camp, MO; one half-brother, Austin Callahan of Kansas City, KS; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Callihan and Ryan and Jeff Adkins all of Carrollton, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, one brother, Jim Callihan and one sister, Wanella Endicott.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 24, 2003 at Little Adkins Cemetery with Elder Carl Cowick officiating.

Charles William Zumalt, son of William L. and Etta (Davies) Zumalt was born in Waverly, Missouri, May 14, 1921 and departed this life on June 21, 2003.
He was a life long resident of Waverly where he attended the Waverly High School and was one of eight in the Class of 1938. He enlisted in the Army of the United States and served in the Second Armored Division, "Hell on Wheels" in Africa, Sicily and Europe, the occupation of Berlin; receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantry Badge, six Campaign stars. He also received awards and decorations from the Belgium Government, the French Government for Omaha Beach and participating in the Battle of the Bulge as well as an award from the State of Missouri for being a World War II veteran.
He served as City Clerk of Waverly for twenty-eight years, also operating "Zumalt and Son" business from 1945 to 1973 in Waverly. In 1973 he was employed by Heins Implement Company at Carrollton, Missouri until his retirement in April 1983.
He was charter life member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, the Second Armored Division Association and the Battle of the Bulge Association.
Charles was a Past Master of the Waverly Lodge AF & AM; also serving as Treasurer and Secretary for many years.
Charles was married to Charlotte Hollis on November 17, 1946. He was very happy to have celebrated fifty-six years of marriage. He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Vickie Zumalt; Albert and Tammy Zumalt, both of Waverly, Missouri; two daughters and one son-in-law; Paula and Bill Pisel, Belleville, Illinois and Karen Zumalt, Waverly, Missouri. He had two grandchildren; Chase and Mikiah Zumalt, Waverly, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Funeral services will be held at the Waverly Christian Church on Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Mike Koch officiating. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery, Waverly, Missouri.
Visitation will be at the Gibson Funeral Home, Waverly, Missouri on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 8:00.

Charles Albert Myers, age 102, formerly of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 23, 2003 at the Candlelight Lodge, Columbia, Missouri. He was born August 29, 1900 in Ouray, Colorado, the son of William and Linda Heck Myers. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1920. Charles married Amy Bucksath on December 27, 1922. Amy preceded him in death on February 4, 1983. He later married Archadean Storer on August 4, 1984. She preceded him in death on March 11, 1998. Charles was retired. He had been a Civil Engineer for the state of Louisiana. He was a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church and a fifty year Masonic Lodge member. He is survived by three daughters, JoAnn Ousley and husband, Victor, Brunswick, Missouri, Mary Mitchell and husband, Jerry, Barwick, Georgia, Amy Singer and husband, Marvin, Alpharetta, Georgia; two sons, Charles (Chuck) Myers and wife, Mary, Lake Ozark, Missouri, John Myers and wife, Joan, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one step daughter, Dorothy Storer Schnell and husband, Irvin, Fayette, Missouri; and fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren, four step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, William (Bill) Myers;one daughter-in-law, Earlene Myers; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 27, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brunswick United Methodist Church, Brunswick, Missouri, with Reverend Phyllis Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. Visitation will be Thursday, June 26, 2003 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. Marjorie A. Wilson, age 70, of Bosworth, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 30, 2003 at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall, Missouri.
She was born October 10, 1932 in Corder, Missouri the daughter of Robert Leslie and Mary Catherine Hank Beard. She attended schools in Corder and graduated from Corder High School. Marjorie had been employed with the glove factory and the shoe factory in Higginsville, Missouri.
On September 16, 1983 she married Robert Henry Wilson in Lexington, Missouri. He survives at their home in Bosworth.
Marjorie is also survived by one step son, Robert H. Wilson, Jr., Bosworth, Missouri; one foster son, Ernest Ike Case and wife, JoAnn, Higginsville, Missouri; three brothers, Bob Beard and wife, Leona, Corder, Missouri, Bill Beard, Higginsville, Missouri, James Beard, San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Marilyn Foland and husband, Don, Plattsburg, Missouri, Reva Lawless and husband, Fred, Omaha, Nebraska; one grandson, Ryan Wilson, Bosworth, Missouri; one foster grandson, Ike Henry Case, Higginsville, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Tom Beard, of Corder, Missouri.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri with Gail Brown officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri.
Visitation was at 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Wyvonne Mays was born December 25, 1934 and died on Tuesday, July 1, 2003 at Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Missouri at the age of 68. Vonnie had been employed as a Maintenance Specialist by the Missouri Department of Transportation from 1978 until his retirement in 1998.
R.W. Wyvonne Mays was a member of the Board of Directors of The Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F. & A.M. of Missouri at the time of his death and had held several other offices including Past Master and Secretary. Brother Mays had also been affiliated with the Eastern Stars, Knights of Pythias and the Shriners. His involvement with the Masons spanned over 25 years. In addition to his dedication to the Masonic Lodge, Vonnie was involved in several other activities and associations including the Missouri Amateur Softball Association and National Federation Officials Associations and was an avid league bowler.
Mr. Mays is survived by his two sons, Val Garcia and Marko Von Mays, both of Tulare, CA; his mother, Louisa Thompson, of Carrollton, MO; his sister, Dorothy Jean Craig and her husband, Reverend Eugene A. Craig, of Detroit, MI and his brother, Ivan Leroy Thompson and his companion, Judy Fakes, of Carrollton, MO. In addition to his immediate family, Mr. Mays is survived by his former wife, Gloria Reynoso Ford, of Visalia, CA; his sister-in-law, Doroth Thompson, of Norborne, MO; Ethel Blair of Chicago, IL; his aunt, Frances Evans, of Kansas City, MO; his uncles, James Alexander and Frank Mays, both of Carrollton, MO; his aunt, Helen Alexander, of Norborne MO; his nephew, Anthony "Tony" Wayne Thompson, of Norborne, MO; his two nieces, Michele Lee Thompson, of Higginsville, MO and Kristen Nicole Thompson, of Norborne, MO; the Brothers of M.W.P.H.G.L. and numerous other relatives and family friends.
Vonnie was preceded in death by his father, Ivory Lee Thompson, April 14, 1983, and his brother, Jack Lee Thompson, May 27, 2003.

Viola May Terrell, age 87, of Harrisonville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2003 at Camden Care Center, Harrisonville, Missouri.
She was born February 4, 1916 in Tina, Missouri the daughter of Luke and Phoebe Key Knott. She attended school in Tina, Missouri.
Viola married Raleigh Adkins in 1933 in Brunswick, Missouri. She later married Nathan Terrell in 1952 in Arkansas. She worked as a meat cutter for Armour Meat Packing Company in Kansas City, Missouri. Viola was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters; Betty Jane Morton, Buckner, Missouri, Mary Parker, Harrisonville, Missouri; one son, James Adkins, Blue Springs, Missouri; two brothers, Johnny Knott, Sedalia, Missouri, Bobby Knott, Hale, Missouri; one sister, Alice Roberts, Richmond, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; several great and great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Viola was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Wilbur E. Adkins and Billy Adkins; and two daughters, Carolyn Sue and Wilma Jean.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2003 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Pastor Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m., Saturday, before the service.
Melba Maurine Berning, 85, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the Shirkey Leisure Acres at Richmond, Missouri.
She was born July 22, 1917 in Carroll County, Missouri; the daughter of Grover B. and Bessie L. Bowles Hart. Melba attended Bogard Grade School and graduated from Bogard High School.
Melba was married to Herbert H. Berning on October 5, 1935 in Centralia, Missouri; he preceded her in death on June 2, 1988.
She was a housewife and was employed by the Gibson Funeral Home in Norborne, Missouri for several years.
Melba was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Norborne, Missouri and the Iota Alpha Sorority.
She is survived by four children: James D. Berning and wife, Betty, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Deloris M. Rice and husband, Joe, of Kansas City, Missouri, Wilbert G. (Glen) Berning, Norborne, Missouri, and Gerald R. (Jerry) Berning and his wife, Marian, of Richmond, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Gene Berning on December 8, 2000.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2003, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne, Missouri with Pastor Charles D. Hudson officiating.
Burial was in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.

Maryan Elaine Crank, 83, formerly of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 7, 2003, at the home of her son, in St. Charles, Missouri.
Maryan was born April 11, 1920 in Carrollton, Missouri; the daughter of Oscar and Marie Winfrey Johnson.
She received her education in Carrollton where she was a lifelong resident.
On June 28, 1939 Maryan was married to Willis Crank, Jr. in Carrollton, Missouri; he preceded her in death on January 17, 1992.
Maryan was a seamstress and a member of the United Methodist Church in Carrollton, MO.
Survivors include one son, Derald L. Crank and his wife, Connie of St. Charles, Missouri; one daughter, Sharon E. Kappelman and her husband, Ellis, of Ridgecrest, California; one sister, Freda Allen, and her husband, John, of Winter Park, Florida: four grandchildren, Karen Hesterwerth and her husband, Mike, Kathy Sherrick and her husband, Doug, Adrian Crank and his wife, Kristina, and Teresa Crank; three great-grandchildren, Mandy Sherrick, Mary Hesterwerth, and Sean Michael Hesterwerth.
Maryan was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, an infant son, Donald Gene, a sister, Maxine Johnson, and a brother, Oscar W. Johnson, Jr..

Joan Frances Johnson, age 70, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2003 at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Missouri. She was born October 26, 1932 in Brunswick, Missouri the daughter of Otto J. and Bertha Reigelsberger Reichert. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1950, and was married to Sam M. Johnson on February 22, 1952 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Brunswick. Joan had been a mother and housewife and the secretary of the Sam Johnson's Appliances and Furniture, Inc., in Brunswick, Missouri. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, the St. Mary's Altar Society, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a past member of the TTT. She is survived by her husband Sam M. Melissa Andrea McWilliams, 26, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2003, near Odessa, Missouri, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Melissa was born May 8, 1977 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn Roy and Rebecca Bell Crawford McWilliams.
She attended Odessa Grade School and graduated from Odessa High School. Melissa was employed as a C.N.A. at the Oak Grove Nursing Home.
Melissa is survived by three children, Alexi Steven McWilliams, John James Brown, and Chelsea Nicole Brown, all of Oak Grove, Missouri; her parents, Glenn and Rebecca McWilliams, Odessa, Missouri; two brothers, Glenn Dale McWilliams and Timmy McWilliams, both of Odessa, Missouri; one sister, Amy Marie McWilliams, Odessa, Missouri; her maternal grandparents, William C. and Barbara Ann Crawford, Carrollton, Missouri; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
