Robert Evans Smith, age 79, of Waverly, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003 at his home.
He was born October 17, 1924 in Carroll County, Missouri, the son of Jesse P. and Nellie Williams Smith. He attended Neal Country School and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1943.
On April 24, 1949 he married Pauline Yake in rural Carrollton, Missouri. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in April of 1999. Pauline survives at the home.
Bob was a third generation life-long farmer and spent his entire life farming, hunting and fishing in the Missouri River bottom. He had served on the Sugartree Levee and Drainage District. Bob confirmed his faith in the mid 1930's by joining the Thompson Chapel Methodist Church near Sugartree. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Waverly, Missouri; and a life member of RAO. The Smith family was awarded the Farm Bureau Farm Family of the Year in 1975. Bob was also awarded the Carrollton FFA State Farm Degree.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by five children, Ellen Davis and husband, Kenny, Carrollton, Missouri, Wayne Smith and wife, Annette, Carrollton, Missouri, Paula Culp and husband, Greg, Gilbert, Arizona, Jerry Smith and wife, Lucy, Carrollton, Missouri; and Rocky Smith, Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Jess Smith, Brunswick, Missouri, Jack Smith, Carrollton, Missouri, one sister, Joy Shaw, Union, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Wade, Matt, Daisy, Kristi, Jesse, Jacob, Nellie, Abbie, Anna, Cydney, Jessica, Betsy, Gabriel and Sylvia; five great grandchildren, Drew, Cawyer, Luke, Gracie and Clara.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Smith, and an infant sister, Rose.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2003 , at the United Methodist Church , Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Robert Payne and Reverend Sandra Crater officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton , Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the United Methodist Church, Waverly, Missouri in memory of Mr. Smith. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Clarence Chester �Shorty� Hilton, 97, went to be with his Lord on November 23, 2003, at Oakridge Convalescent Center in Plattsburg, Missouri. He was born to George and Minnie Hilton on September 24, 1906, at Braymer, Missouri. He had lived in the Carrollton, Missouri area most of his life. Shorty had worked in wheel alignment, farmed, CB &Q; Railroad, and Pinkerton Guard at Banquet Foods. In 1935, he married Elsie Lorene Hawkins, who preceded him in death in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his father, George R., and mother, Minnie V. Hilton, three brothers and two sisters, and a son-in-law Melvin Hunter. Shorty was a member of the Carrollton Church of the Nazarene and was a 50 year member of Wakenda Masonic Lodge No. 52, and Marshall Chapter No. 408 Order of the Eastern Star. Shorty was a very caring and giving person.
He leaves to mourn two daughters, DoLores �Dee� Hale and husband, Bob, of Trimble, Missouri, and JoAnn Hunter of Carrollton, Missouri, Grandson Stephen Isaacks of Arlington, Texas, granddaughter Carmen Luke and great granddaughter Lacie Luke of Carrollton, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home with Masonic Services at 8:00 p.m.
The family suggests contributions be made to St. Luke�s Hospice or Ebenezer Cemetery in memory of Mr. Hilton. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Martha Jewel Hildebrand of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003 at the Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
Jewel was born in Mandeville, Missouri, the daughter of William Andrew and Mary (Mollie) Shultz Burton. She received her education at the Isom School near her home.
Jewel was married to Claude E. Vogt on February 23, 1921 in Carrollton, Missouri by the Reverend G.L. Bush; to this union one child, Jack Eldon, was born; he passed away at the age of six years. Claude passed away on February 14, 1968. She later was married to Edgar R. Hildebrand on May 21, 1971; he preceded her in death on July 16, 1980. She lived most of her life in the Kansas City, Missouri area where she was employed by the Skelly Oil Company for approximately sixteen years. After her retirement, she and her husband retired to Carrollton, Missouri. Jewel was a member of the First Christian Church of Carrollton, Missouri, the Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors Lodge, Trotter Hustlers Extension Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, all of Carrollton, Missouri.
Her extended family includes Steve and Caren Bittiker, Carrollton, Missouri, Steven, Chastity, Lauren and Stevie Bittiker, Columbia, Missouri, Carissa Anne Bittiker Hoover and husband, Steven, Liberty, Missouri, Carol and Rick Grisolano, Carrollton, Missouri; one nephew, Bill Burton and wife, Lynette, Carrollton, Missouri; one niece, Judy Brown and husband, Steve, Beloit, Kansas; one sister-in-law, Frances Burton, Richmond, Missouri; several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Jewel was preceded in death by her son, one brother and sister-in-law, W. I. (Dobber) and Fern Burton, and one brother-in-law, Austin Burton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 28, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Joe Barone officiating. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 9-10:15 a.m., prior to the service.
Mrs. Hildebrand�s husband was a Shriner and it would be her wish that contributions be made to the Shriner�s Hospital for Crippled Children or the First Christian Church, Carrollton, Missouri. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Harry L. Cason, age 77, of Norborne, Missouri passed away Friday, November 28, 2003 at Carroll House in Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born May 6, 1926 in Carroll County, Missouri the son of Harry and Bert Lee Buckner Cason. He attended Norborne Grade School. He was in the United States Navy. Harry was a member of Norborne Methodist Church St. Luke�s A.M.E.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Ruth Holly and one brother-in-law, Eddie Holly.
Graveside memorial services will be Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 11:00 a.m., at Stemple Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be given to family�s choice in memory of Mr. Cason. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Agnes Fay Bohnenberger, age 81, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2003 at Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall, Missouri.
She was born January 8, 1922 in Stet, Missouri the daughter of Claude and Mary Agnes Parks Clemens. She attended Stet Schools.
On September 28, 1946, she married Charles Henry Bohnenberger in the state of Kansas. He preceded her in death. She was a housewife and mother. Agnes attended the Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Claude William Appleberry, Eldorado Springs, Missouri, Charles Lee �Chuck� Bohnenberger, Carrollton, Missouri; one daughter, Charlene Fay Gibson, Carrollton, Missouri; three brothers, Ernest W. Clemens, Gallatin, Missouri, Estel M. Clemens, Clinton, Missouri, Norman Ray Clemens, State of Kansas; two sisters, Willa Lee Huskisson, Lexington, Missouri, Mary Laureen Coldwell, Clarksdale, Missouri; five grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
Agnes was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edward Clemens; one sister, Ethelle Clemens; and two uncles.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 8, 2003 at Sweet Springs Cemetery, Sweet Springs, Missouri with Reverend Mike Walker officiating.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Marvin R. Utterback, age 77, a lifelong resident of the Brunswick and DeWitt area, passed away Sunday, December 7, 2003 at his home in Brunswick, Missouri. He was born November 5, 1926 in Brunswick, Missouri the son of Russell "Dude" and Gertrude Sparks Utterback. Marvin married Marianne Akers on June 5, 1948 and had four children, who all survive, Marvin Russell and Daniel Wade Utterback, Anita Elaine McCollum and Cathy Linn Baxley all of DeWitt, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jason and Derrick Utterback, Timna Utterback, Kristi McCollum and Wyatt Baxley, and numerous great grandchildren. Marvin has made his home the last fifteen years in Brunswick, Missouri with his companion, Mable Martin, who survives him of the home. He worked for the Wabash Railroad for eighteen years, before starting his own business the Utterback Tree & Shrub Service along with running a General Store and custom pecan cracking business in DeWitt, Missouri. he was a member of the Wakenda Masonic Lodge #52 AF and AM and the Royal Neighbors of America. He had also served several terms as the City Marshall of DeWitt. He is also survived by three brothers, Jack Utterback, Brunswick, Missouri, Denny Utterback, Dean Lake, Missouri and Bob Utterback, Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell and Gerald Utterback. Marvin has made a graceful departure to his heavenly home and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His spirit will be felt in the four winds as they blow across the Ponderosa. Memorial and Masonic services will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, Monday, December 15, 2003 at 4:00 p.m., with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Memorials may be made to the DeWitt Youth Group, Shriner's Childrens Hospital or Pershing Home Health Care & Hospice. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 207 W Broadway, Brunswick MO 65236.

Calvin Forrest Green, age 80, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 8, 2003 at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born October 17, 1923 in Roads, Missouri, the son of Otha F. and Nellie Grigsby Green. He attended country schools and graduated from Stet High School.
On August 22, 1946, he married Fern Evelyn Wright in Cowgill, Missouri. She survives at the home.
He was a farmer and had served on the Stet School Board for two terms. He was a Republican Committeeman for Fairfield Township for many years. He was a Trustee and Deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Roads, Missouri and secretary and treasurer for the Antioch Cemetery Board.
Calvin is survived by one daughter, Debbie Petrechko and husband, Mark, Sugar Creek, Missouri; one sister, Margaret Koontz and husband, Dale, Norborne, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ethan Forrest and Paige Evelyn Ann.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Walter Brunner officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Harold G. �Budge� Wooden,age 83, of Bogard, Missouri, passed away December 8, 2003 at Indian Hills Nursing Center, Chillicothe, Missouri.
He was born May 16, 1920 in Dawn, Missouri, the son of Humphrey and Jessie Jane O�Roake Wooden. He attended Wooden School near Dawn.
On February 6, 1940, he married Margaruite Ellen Corf in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home. Harold had been a bulldozer operator for over fifty years. He had worked for Green Quarries, Herberger Construction, International Harvester as a mechanic, Harold Pence Construction and most recently, Wooden & Son Construction. Harold was a Baptist.
Harold is also survived by three children, Janie Birch and husband, James Royce, Bogard, Missouri, Patricia Harper and husband, Alfred, Carrollton, Missouri, Harold Eugene Wooden and wife, Peggy, Hale, Missouri; four sisters, Nadine Trussell, Chillicothe, Missouri, Kathleen Jenks, Sidney, Nebraska, Una Barron, Braymer, Missouri, Neva Corf, Chillicothe, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Brenda and Keith Brock, Jeff and Amberly Harper, Dustin and Danielle Wooden, Deena Wooden, Katie Harper, Jill Harper and Emily Harper; seven step grandchildren, Keri and Ryan Morris, Luke and Chris Floyd and Emma, Adam and Tanner Floyd; five great grandchildren, Cody and Brandy Brock, Mallory Harper, Cassidy and Harlie Wooden; two step great grandchildren, Sandy and Rachel Ryan.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, John, Buford, Sr., Leo, Henry, Lloyd, Gerald Lyle, Jackie and Lester Wooden; and one daughter, Ruth Ellen Harper.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 12, 2003 at Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri with Reverend Bruce Trussell officiating.
Mr. Wooden will lie in state from 1-8:00 p.m., Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Mary Lena Aldrich, age 94, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born May 29, 1909 in Fort Pierre, South Dakota, the daughter of Henry and Ellen Evans Reese. She attended schools in Fort Pierre, South Dakota.
On September 16, 1928, she married Elden Aldrich in Fort Pierre, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2000. Mary was a housewife and mother and helped her husband on the farm. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Mary is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth E. and Louise Aldrich, Carrollton, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Joanne Arns, Brea, California; one brother, Joe Reese, Kennewick, Washington; five grandchildren, Regina DeBerge and husband, Ray, Hannibal, Missouri, Troy Aldrich and wife, Tonya, Bogard, Missouri, Nancy Thomas and husband, Danny, Carrollton, Missouri, Lori Stevins and husband, Farrell, Fullerton, California, and Ami Cleman and husband, David, Placentia, California.
Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Levene Elden Aldrich; one daughter, Evelyn Ella Aldrich; two brothers, Bill Reese and Harold Reese and five sisters, Josephine Colberg, Wilma Collins, Margaret Stevens, Letha Spears and Ruby Albrecht.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2003 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Kenneth Randolph officiating.
Visitation will be from 10-10:45 a.m. before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Millie Mae Madsen, 95, of Hale, MO died on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Carroll House in Carrollton, MO.
Visitation will be held at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO on Saturday, December 13, 2003 from 1:00 P.M. � 2:00 P.M. Cremation.
Memorials may be made to the Carroll House Gazebo Fund.
She was born on August 13, 1908 in Poplar Bluff, MO the daughter of Charlie and Nora Townsend Marley.
She was married to Albert H. Eiserer on April 7, 1926, he preceded her in death in 1955.
She married Irving Madsen on November 1, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah, he also preceded her in death.
She attended country schools near Poplar Bluff, MO.
She had worked in Food Services at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She attended the Oakland Christian Church, and was a member of the Stokes Mound Extension Club.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Harold N. and Doris Eiserer of Warrensburg, MO, and Jack D. Eiserer and Elaine of Raytown, MO, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters; Monroe and John Marley and Grace Hines and Ruth Jordan.
