Christina Marie Lyon, age 23, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born September 23, 1980 in Chillicothe, Missouri the daughter of Kenneth Dale Lyon, II and Diane Frock Lyon. She graduated from Bosworth High School in 1999. She graduated from Columbia College, Columbia, Missouri on May 10, 2003, with Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Accounting/Business Management degrees. She was employed at MMG Worldwide in Kansas City, Missouri.
Chrissy is survived by her parents Kenneth Dale and Towanda Lyon, Buckeye, Arizona, Diane Lyon and Pete Wooden, Bosworth, Missouri; paternal grandmother, Carolyn D. Lyon, with whom she resided in Norborne, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Frock, Bosworth, Missouri; paternal great grandparents, Bill and Mary Marple, Bosworth, Missouri; step-paternal grandparents, Bud and Ruth Worth, Dawn, Missouri; three brothers Kenneth Cody Lyon, United States Marine Corp, Camp Lajeune, North Carolina, Keaton Dale Lyon, Buckeye, Arizona, Jess Wooden, Bosworth, Missouri; four sisters, Taralyn Danielle Lyon, Buckeye, Arizona, Jessica Fae Lyon and Shawna Lynn Wooden, Bosworth, Missouri and Kimberly Wooden, Sedalia, Missouri; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chrissy was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Kenneth Dale Lyon and her maternal grandfather, Clifford Frock.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Daniel Milligan officiating. Burial will be in McCroskie Creek Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-9:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions be made to the Christina Marie Lyon Trust Fund in memory of Chrissy. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 S. Main, Carrollton MO 64633.

Vernon Earl Sowers, age 90, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Monday, January 26, 2004 at his home. He was born April 21, 1913 near Brunswick, Missouri the son of Luther James and Minni Maude Magruder Sowers. He married Frances Jereline "Jerry" Gross on April 4, 1935 in Carrollton, Missouri. She survives at the home. Vernon had been a machine operator and farmer before he retired. He is also survived by one son, Gerald V. Sowers and wife, Shirley J., Brunswick, Missouri; two sisters, Erma Riley, Roanoke, Virginia, Thelma Fugett, Brunswick, Missouri; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and one half sister. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 29, 2004 at 2:00 p.m., at the Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri with Reverend Phyllis Anderson officiating. Burial was in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the Homecare of Mid-Missouri Hospice or to the Chariton County Ambulance District. Monte Lyle Butler, age 62, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born May 22, 1941 in Marshall, Missouri, the son of Roscoe Orville and Laura Katherine Elgin Butler. He attended Buckner, Missouri Elementary Schools and graduated from Fort Osage High School. He was in the United States Army. He was a supervisor for the Missouri Department of Transportation; and retired after thirty years of service.
Monte is survived by two brothers; Ralph Stewart, Waverly, Missouri, John Butler, Holden, Missouri; one sister, Madge Scott, Prairie Home, Missouri; two aunts and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and one brother, Curtis Butler, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery, Dover, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at the funeral home.

Mary Adeline Woodward, age 96, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 5, 2004 at her home. She was born February 28, 1907 in Brunswick, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Annie Van Denheurk Myers. She married David O. Woodward on May 29, 1932 at the Methodist Church in Moberly, Missouri. David and Adeline celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 30, 1982 at the Riverside Cafe in Brunswick, Missouri. David preceded her in death on October 6, 1995 after 63 years of marriage. She had been a housewife and homemaker. She was a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church and was the last surviving member of the Brunswick High School graduating class of 1926. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Rosemary Woodward, Keytesville, Missouri; one nephew, C. A. Myers, Kansas City, Missouri and one niece, Marilyn Hazelhorst, Jefferson City, Missouri. She was also preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, John, LeRoy, Ross, Herbert, Leon and Orville Myers; and two sisters, Effie Jackson and Helen Reynolds. Funeral services were held at the Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri on Monday, February 9, 2004 at 1:30 p.m., with Gail Brown officiating. Burial was in Elliiott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to Elliott Grove Cemetery in memory of Mrs. Woodward. They may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 207 W. Broadway, Brunswick MO 65236.

Mary H. Gregg Brady, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2004 at North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
She was born November 20, 1924 in Norborne, Missouri, the daughter of Sterling Power and Hattie Mae Evans Gregg. She graduated from Norborne High School and Warrensburg Teacher's College. She taught school at Dick Grade School, and for the Carrollton R-VII School district at Root and Dieterich Elementary Schools from 1951 until she retired. Mary was a member of the United Methodist Church of Norborne, Missouri.
One brother, Arch William Gregg and his wife, Annabelle, Independence, Missouri, survives Mary.
Her parents, one brother, James Sterling Gregg and one sister, Willa Mae Gregg Wallen, preceded her in death.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
Visitation is from 12:30-1:15 p.m., Saturday, before the service.

DeAnna Faye Cox, age 42, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at her home. She was born on September 3, 1961 at Waverly, Missouri, the daughter of Lewis and Glenda Funk McDowell. She was married to James William Cox on July 3, 1998 at Bosworth, Missouri. He survives at the home. She was a meat processor at Excel in Marshall, Missouri. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church at Carrollton, Missouri. DeAnna is also survived by two daughters, Melinda Turner, Bosworth, Missouri and Lindsey Turner, Carrollton, Missouri; two sons, Willis Turner, Jr. and Joshua Turner, both of Carrollton, Missouri; two step sons, William Cox and Jesse Cox, both of Brunswick, Missouri; one step daughter, Shawna Cox, Brunswick, Missouri; her parents, Lewis and Glenda McDowell, Bosworth, Missouri; her maternal grandmother, Euna Funk, Carrollton, Missouri; five brothers, Kenny and Bobby McDowell, Carrollton, Missouri, David, Sam and Chris McDowell, Bosworth, Missouri; one sister, Tracey Fields, Bosworth, Missouri; five step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Chandeline McDowell. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 13, 2004 at 1:30 p.m., at the Gibson Funeral Home, Bosworth, Missouri with Reverend Carl Cowick officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri. Visitation was from 12-1:15 before the service. The family suggests contributions be made to the Humane Society in memory of DeAnna. Carmen Lynn Fry McNeal, age 19, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born November 19, 1984 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Terry Wayne and Gina Lynn Horst Fry. She graduated from Carrollton High School in 2002.
On March 5, 2003, she married Mark Aaron McNeal in Sedalia, Missouri. He survives at the home. Carmen attended the Maplewood Church, Sedalia, Missouri.
In addition to her husband, Mark, Carmen is survived by her son, Keegan Lyon, of the home; her husbands two sons, Kylar and Corbin McNeal; her parents, Terry and Gina Fry, Carrollton, Missouri; one brother, Donnie Fry, Carrollton, Missouri; her paternal grandmother, Patricia Adkins; paternal grandfather, Dale Fry and his wife, Betty; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her maternal grandparents, Charlie and Georgia Jean Horst, and one uncle, Dennis Horst preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Eddie Brown officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, DeWitt, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Richard E. Bates, age 77, of Carrollton, Missouri passed away Monday, March 1, 2004 at his home.
He was born August 8, 1926 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of William and Racheal Viola Wakefield Bates. He attended Carrollton Grade School. He was a Truck Driver and Farmer.
Richard is survived by one daughter, Ricki R. Bates, Lake Ozark, Missouri; four step-sons; Charles Edward Williams, Dallas, Texas, Lonnie Williams, Gaithersburg, Maryland, Stephen Williams, State of Delaware and Scott Williams; three brothers, Vernon Bates, St. Peters, Missouri, Floyd Leroy Bates, St. Charles, Missouri, Johnny Bates, Elsberry, Missouri; one sister, Lola Jean Freeman, Bastrop, Louisiana; two grandsons, Shay-Austin Bates and James Tarron Bates, Lake Ozark, Missouri; two step-grandsons and four step-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters in infancy; and one sister, Virginia Fisher and one brother, William Bates.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 4, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating.

Frances Iona Johnson Scott, 89, formerly of Carrollton, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at the Jefferson City Manor Care Center in Jefferson City, MO where she has lived for the past three and one half years.
She was born March 6, 1914 in Waverly, MO, daughter of Charles and Ruby Loney Johnson. On August 11, 1930, she married Raymond L. Scott, Sr. who preceded her in death on August 9, 1957. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter, Betty Lou Scott, a sister, Lillian Tomlin;3 grandsons, Larry Whitmer, Gary Whitmer and Tony Whitmer; and one granddaughter, Sheryl Atherton.
Frances Scott was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carrollton. She was a homemaker who enjoyed family, friends, and caring for her flowers.
Survivors include 2 sons: Raymond L. Scott, Jr., Carrollton, Ronald L. Scott and wife Carol, Jefferson City, 2 daughters; Glenda Atherton, Sedalia, and Norma Whitmer, Many, LA; 3 sisters, Virginia Sedgwick, Kingston, LaVerne Sullivan, Lexington, and June Thorp, Grand Pass, 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.

Ruth Evelyn Pitts Francis, age 101, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away Friday, March 5, 2004.
Ruth was born February 16, 1903 on the family farm west of Bogard, Missouri; the fourth child born to Samuel Davis Pitts and Estella Clair Traughber Pitts.
She attended the Hood Grade School and graduated from Bogard High School. She became a member of Mandeville United Methodist Church at an early age.
Ruth was married to Raymond Paul Francis on June 9, 1933 in Carrollton, Missouri; he preceded her in death on June 9, 1966. To this union was born a son, James Pitts Francis of Mount Prospect, Illinois and a daughter, Margaret Ann Francis Salna, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
She is also survived by her grandsons, James Raymond Walter Francis and David Scott Francis of the Chicago, Illinois area; sister-in-law, Mrs. Bruce (Helen Rose) Pitts; nepews and nieces, Robert Pitts, Dale Pitts, Jerry Pitts, Donald E. Buzard, Norma Lee Sugg, Maxie Jean Todd, Spencer Francis, Frank Sloan, Donald Sloan, sister-n-law, Mrs. Herbert (Vera Corbin) Francis and her daughter, Mary Jane.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond P. Francis; one sister, Mrs. Norman (Beulah Pitts) Buzard; and two brothers, Raymond Pitts and Bruce Pitts.
Ruth will always be remembered for her loving spirit, her zest for life, and love of family and home.
She will be fondly missed by all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton, Missouri, with the Reverend Walter Brunner officiating.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1:15 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Bogard, Missouri.
The family suggests contributions to the Ebenezer Cemetery in memory of Mrs. Francis and they may be left at or mailed to Gibson Funeral Home, 201 South Main, Carrollton, Missouri 64633.
