Dr. Jess Williams Smith, age 86, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 at Boone Hospital. He was born on July 20, 1917 in Carroll County, Missouri, the eldest son of Jesse P. and Nellie Williams Smith. He attended Neal Country School and graduated from Carrollton High School in 1937. He was awarded the FFA State Farmer Degree. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia to earn his B. S. in Agriculture degree. He studied concurrently in the School of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State, receiving his doctorate in 1943. On July 13, 1944 he married Evelyn Winter in Concordia, Missouri. They established their home in Brunswick, Missouri, and celebrated their Golden 50th Anniversary in July, 1994. He practiced as a veterinarian for sixty years. Jess was an active member in the Brunswick community, serving the Lion's Club, the United Methodist Church and the local 4-H club for many years. He was a member of the American Angus Association, and a lifetime member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; his son, Dr. Steve Smith and his wife Alline of Salisbury, Missouri; a brother Jack and his wife, Peggy of Carrollton, Missouri; and a sister, Joy Shaw, of Union, Missouri. His three granddaughters are Lynne Smith of Liberty, Missouri; Jennifer Young, of Killeen, Texas; and Leigh Anne Reynolds of Boonville, Missouri. His two great granddaughters are Camryn and Olivia. Jess was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Paul and Robert, and an infant sister, Rose. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at 5:30 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. The memorial service will follow at 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Goldie Kahler, age 91, of Brunswick, Missouri passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2004 at the Brunswick Nursing Home. Goldie was born on July 11, 1912 in Indian Grove, Missouri, to George and Rosa Arp Tietjens. She attended Pollard School and Zion School. She was married to Wallace Kahler on January 12, 1932 in Brunswick, Missouri at the Lutheran Parsonage by Reverend Walther. Wallace preceded her in death on April 23, 1992. Goldie had been a homemaker and had also worked at the Mattingly's store in Brunswick for several years. She was a long-time member of the Davis Foggin Farm Club and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church at Brunswick, Missouri. She is survived by two daughters, Eleanor R. Smith of Lincoln, Missouri and Shirley Hickerson of Brunswick, Missouri; six sons, George M. Kahler of Globe, Arizona, Jim Kahler of Belton, Missouri, Danny Kahler of Brunswick, Missouri, David Kahler of Norwood, Massachusetts, Mike Kahler of Lake St. Louis, Missouri and Kenny Kahler of St. Joseph, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Goldie was also preceded in death by her parents; one son Glennis in 1989, one grandson Marty, two great grandsons Jacob Koch and Andrew Fisher; five brothers, Rudolph, Ernest, Raymond, George, Jr. and Vernon Tietjens and one sister, Mildred Kahler. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church, Brunswick, Missouri with Pastor Glen Drewitz officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 3, 2004 from 7-8:30 p.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri. Burial will be in Newcomer Cemetery, Mendon, Missouri. Marie Ellen Riley, age 79, of Tina, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 in Weatherby, Missouri.
She was born October 29, 1924 in Page, Nebraska, the daughter of Ralph H. and Dorothy R. Weigent Hart. She attended schools in Nebraska.
On August 20, 1942, she married Jonathan B. Riley in Tribune, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 26, 1990. She was a house wife and mother. She was a member ot the United Church of Tina in Tina, Missouri and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by one son, Jonathan B. Riley, Jr., Tina, Missouri; one daughter, Lila Marie Ellis, West Sanford, North Carolina; two brothers, John Hart, Hooper, Nebraska, Ronald Hart, Redfield, South Dakota; three grandchildren, Christina, Jimmy and David; and five great grandchildren, Kasey, John, Derik, Carrie and Courtney.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Patricia Jean Stith; one granddaughter, Vickie Ann Gash; three brothers, Donald, Dale and Richard Hart; and two sisters, Rachel Stevens and Freda Kyzer.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 5, 2004 at the United Church of Tina, Tina, Missouri. Burial will be in Rock Branch Cemetery, Tina, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Patricia Jean Stith, age 60, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2004 at her residence as a result of injuries sustanined in a tornado. She was a homemaker. She was born on April 24, 1944, in Carrollton, Missouri, to Jonathan and Marie Hart Riley. She had lived in the Kansas City, Missouri area before moving to the Weatherby area thirty years ago. She was of the Baptist faith. Patricia was preceded in death by her father, and her mother passed away in the same storm at Patricia's residence. On April 18, 1964, she married John Stith at the Union Baptist Church in Chula, Missouri. He was also injured during the storm and, at this date, is still in an area hospital. Other survivors include, a daughter, Kristina Sharp, Cameron, Missouri; one son, James, Milan, Missouri; three grandchildren, John, Derik and Kasey; one sister, Lila Ellis, West Sanford, North Carolina; and one brother, Jonathan "Lucky" Riley, Tina, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2004 at Brown Funeral Home, Cameron, Missouri. Burial will be in Cope Cemetery, Weatherby, Missouri. There is no scheduled fromal visitation. Harris N. Fisher, age 85, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004 at Bogard, Missouri.
He was born January 23, 1919 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Nelson Albinus and Emma Smith Fisher. He attended country schools near Norborne, Missouri. He was a Heavy Construction Engineer in the United States Army during World War II.
On November 4, 1939, he married Velma Lorene Stark in Lawrence, Kansas. She survives at the home. He was a farmer and a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri and had been ordained in 1955, serving Norborne, Enon and Bogard churches. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773 in Carrollton, Missouri.
Harris is also survived by four children; Gary Dale Fisher and wife Shirley, Braymer, Missouri, Roger Fisher and wife Nanette, Bogard, Missouri, Curtis Fisher and wife Starla, Carrollton, Missouri, Kenneth Ramsey, Wellington, Missouri; one daughter-in-law, Janet Fisher Wine, Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Lisa Cottman and husband Tim, Jeff Fisher and wife Shari, Gayle Noah and husband Kevin, Kelly Warren and husband Stanton, Jennifer Hall and husband Kaleb, Aaron Fisher and wife Laura Beth, Chris Fisher and wife Katie, Josh Fisher and wife Becky, Phillip Fisher; and seven great grandchildren.
Harris was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Nelson Adam and Harris Dwayne Fisher.

Timothy Kyle Boone, age 17, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri.
He was born May 5, 1987, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John Boone and Lorrie Jean Nei Shoemaker. He attended Carrollton High School.

Dorothy Durnil, age 89, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born September 6, 1914 near Avalon, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Blanche Fullerton Wright. She attended Avalon country schools.
On July 16, 1932, she married Glen Durnil in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1988. She was a member of Lowgap Baptist Church, Union Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church. Dorothy was a housewife and homemaker and had worked as a laborer at Lambert's Glove Factory in Chillicothe, Missouri. She had also worked as a cook at Tina-Avalon School.

William Francis "Fuzz" Weisz, age 66, of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2004 at his home.
He was born October 6, 1937 in Ray County, Missouri, the son of George William and Evelyn Marie Rieter Weisz. He attended Weatherholt Grade School and graduated from Norborne High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army.
On April 11, 1964, he married Elizabeth Faye Walker at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norborne, Missouri. She survives at the home. He was a farmer, dragline operator, seed salesman and owned a trucking company. He had also worked for Carr Co Construction Company. He was a member of the Egypt Township Board, Sacred Heart Cemetery Board, Norborne Lions Club, Ray-Carroll Tractor Club, Shanghai Social Club and had been crowned King Soybean, of the Norborne Soybean Festival, twice.
Fuzz is also survived by two children, Keith Allen Weisz, Carrollton, Missouri, Patricia Lynn Weisz, Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Katherine Riehle, Shawnee, Kansas, Elaine Theresa Plackemeier, Maryville, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew and Meagan Weisz, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father, William; two sons, Kevin Ray and Patrick Lee Weisz; two brothers, George Henry and Donald Eugene Weisz; one sister, Elizabeth Ann Weisz Holton and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2004 at Norborne High School, Norborne, Missouri with Reverend Ken Criqui officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri.
He will lie in state Sunday, June 13, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Norborne, Missouri from 1-8:00 p. m.

Mildred Marie Bradshaw Carter Waitman, daughter of Everett and Mary (Hart) Bradshaw was born May 1, 1908 at Mandeville, Missouri and departed this life at 7:50 p.m. on June 9, 2004 at the age of 96. She attended Mandeville and Enon Schools and lived her entire life in the Bogard community. In addition to being an accomplished cook, seamstress, and gardener, she was a wonderful homemaker dedicated to her family, friends, and to serving God as a Christian leader in the Van Horn community as a 65 year member of the United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Bradshaw, two sons, Donald Wayne Carter and John Paul Waitman. Also two husbands, Carl Carter and Wes Waitman, and one granddaughter Dee Ann Waitman Helvey.
She is survived by her son, Bill Waitman and his wife Jeanette of Springfield, MO, her grandson John Waitman and his wife Tamra of Marshfield, MO, and three great grandchildren, Ian, Joseph, and Katie Belle Waitman. Also surviving are nephews and nieces Dixie Shirkey, Oklahoma City, OK, Oreta and Dave Tanquery, Olathe, KS, Morris Wayne and Lou Carter, Murfreesboro, TN, Jim and Sharon Bradshaw, Richmond, MO, Mary Ann and Gerald Brock, Loveland, CO, Helen and Dan Thate, Braymer, MO, Rev. Everett and Dixie Bradshaw, Mexico, MO, Ed and Pat Bradshaw, Macon, MO, Louise and John Edwards, Carrollton, MO, Dr. Bob and Norma Waitman, Nevada, MO, and Horton Bolin, Shawnee, KS.
Mildred was a fixture of the Van Horn community for over 65 years. Those who knew her best will celebrate her life rather than mourn her passing. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 14, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.

Mrs. Zella Gertrude Brown, age 91, of Bogard, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Carroll House Nursing Home. Gertrude was born September 18, 1912 in Callaway County, Missouri, the daughter of George Herman and Sarah Salmons Bell. She attended country schools.
In 1939 Gertrude married George A. Brown in Williamsburg, Missouri. He preceded her in death.
She received her education for medical training and was employed by the Carrollton State School for several years and moved to Nevada, Missouri where she retired from the Nevada State School. Gertrude was a member of the Bogard Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Don B. Brown and his wife, Barbara, Bogard, Missouri and George H. Brown and his wife, Dora (Jitter), Chillicothe, Missouri; two sisters, Mary Bell Pickrel, Peoria, Illinois and Ruby Bell Hook, Fort Scott, Kansas; a friend, Billy H. Smith, Carrollton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Donnie, David, Danny, Mark, and Craig; seventeen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Reuben and Walter and one great granddaughter, Devon.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the New Hope Cemetery, Calwood, Missouri. The body will lay in state after 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 14, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.
