Betty A. Moore, age 79, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004 at Shirley Leisure Acres, Richmond, Missouri.
She was born October 7, 1924 in Carrollton, Missouri, the daughter of Alex and Minnie Bell Curtis Goodson. She graduated from Carrollton High School.
On February 1, 1947, she married Robert C. Moore in Carrollton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1994. Betty had worked in Washington, D.C. in General Dwight D. Eisenhower's Secretarial Pool, as a secretary in public schools since the mid 1960's in Topeka, Kansas and Columbia, Missouri. She retired as the secretary to the Athletic Director in Columbia, Missouri. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri, Carrollton Women's Club and Trotter Hustler's Extension Club.
Betty is survived by one son, Robert Gary Moore, Carrollton, Missouri; two sisters, Nancy Fuller and husband Hugh, Carrollton, Missouri, Patty Hamlin and husband Dean, Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother, Alex Goodson, Jr. and wife Ila, Carrollton, Missouri; and one grandson, Cory Cabel Moore, Rogers, Arkansas.
Betty was also preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, August 20, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Thomas Milton Daily, age 69, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2004 at his home. He was born on June 8, 1935 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Milton Jackson and Mary Alice Sanderson Daily. He graduated from Brunswick High School in 1953. Tom served his country as a member of the United States Army. He married Dorothy Marie Heyl on March 18, 1956 at LeMar, Iowa. Tom had been an electrician and a farmer. He was a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church, a life member of the National Rifle Associating, a member of the Second Amendment Foundation, the Gun Owner's of America, a Charter member of the Arrowhead Saddle Club and a member of the American Legion Rucker-McAllister Post #7 at Brunswick, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of the home; two daughters, Mary Margaret Medinas, Emporia, Kansas, Sandra Ann Shea, Claycomo, Missouri; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 23, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Brunswick, Missouri at 10:30 a.m., with Gail Brown officiating. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Rucker McAllister Post #7, Brunswick, Missouri. The family suggests contributions be made to the National Rifle Association, the Second Amendment Foundation, the Gun Owner's of America or the Howard County Hospice in memory of Mr. Daily. Leroy E. Harper, 85, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Carroll House, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born October 26, 1918 to the parents of John Earl and Ruby (Simpson) Harper in Trotter Township of Carroll County, Missouri. He attended the Star School in Trotter Township. He pursued the occupation of farming until World War II. Due to poor health, he was unable to serve in the Armed Services, wanting to do his part during the war; he moved to Long Beach, California and helped build the Liberty Ships in the shipyards. At the end of the war, he returned to the family farm, where he remained until retirement and moving to Carrollton.
On April 23, 1950, Leroy married Margaret Louise Elliott, Norborne, Missouri. She survives at the home. He was a member of the McCroskie Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Harper was treasurer of the Beaty Cemetery, served on the Trotter Township Board, the ASCS Board, was a board member of Farmers Electric Coop and a fifty year member of the Wakanda Lodge #52 AF & AM. He enjoyed fishing in his later years.
In addition to his wife, Margaret Louise, Leroy is survived by his children Alfred L. Harper and wife Patricia; Patricia J. Gentry and husband, Howard; John E. Harper and wife Deborah, all of Carrollton, Missouri. Grandchildren include Katie, Jill, and Emily Harper, Jeremy Figg and Amy Goedeke, Ashley Gentry, and Lacey and Jared Harper; great granddaughter, Jaden Goedeke, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Harper was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue, his parents, his brother, Charles Newton Harper, his sister, Eva Marie Case and her husband Burr, Jr.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m., at the Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Bert Hughes officiating. Burial was in Trotter Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7:00-8:00 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home.

Hazel M. Shatto, age 91, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2004 at Carrollton Nursing Center, Carrollton, Missouri.
She was born October 15, 1912 in Chariton County, Missouri, near Salisbury, the daughter of James and Mary Ellen Fitzgerald Scott. She attended Salisbury schools and attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
On August 21, 1930, she married Jesse L. Shatto in Hannibal, Missouri. Together, they owned and operated Central Welding Co., Inc. since 1937. Jesse preceded her in death on October 24, 1969. They were the parents of one son, Bob Shatto, who preceded Hazel in death on March 27, 1998.
She married Johnie Sherwood on November 12, 1970 at the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1991.
She then married William (Bill) Givens, Sr. on October 15, 1991 at the Southside Baptist Church in Carrollton. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2004.
Hazel is survived by one daughter-in-law, Carol Jean Shatto, Carrollton, Missouri; one grandson, Jim Shatto and wife Cindy, Carrollton, Missouri; two great granddaughters, Jennifer and Carrie Shatto; and one nephew, Gary Grigsby, his wife Linda; and their children Pam, Melissa and Gary, Salisbury, Missouri.
In addition to her son, Bob, Hazel was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Violet Ruffner and Johnny Grigsby.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Reverend Lee Borders officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

Cynthia Martin Coy Holtmeyer, age 81, of Brunswick, Missouri, passed away at her home on Sunday, September 5, 2004. She was born January 18, 1923 in Keytesville, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Edgar and Sarah Edie Cox Coy. She attended Hill School at Salisbury, Missouri and graduated from Keytesville High School. She was married to William J. Holtmeyer, Jr. on January 27, 1947 at the Trinity Lutheran Church by Reverend W. J. Boehne. Cynthia had worked as a Customer Utility Clerk for the Kansas City Power and Light Company at Brunswick, Missouri for fifty years and three months. She was a member of the Hill Baptist Church at Keytesville, Missouri, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority at Brunswick, Missouri, the Worthwhile Club, the Bridge Club; she was a Legionette and was active in the Brunswick Library. She is survived by her husband William of the home, one brother, Frank Coy, Keytesville, Missouri; two sisters, Pearley Edwards and Ruby Stephens, Brunswick, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles Coy, Roy Dewitt and Marlin Coy; and two sisters, Mary Jane McSparan and Minnie Belle Hayes. Funeral services will be at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, Missouri on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Lanny Lybarger officiating. Mrs. Holtmeyer will lie in state at the Gibson Funeral Home in Brunswick, Missouri on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday morning until service time. Burial will be in Elliott Grove Cemetery, Brunswick, Missouri. Memorials may be made to the Brunswick Public Library or the Elliott Grove Cemetery Road Fund. Melva Lee (Scott) Susewind, age 71, Kansas City, Missouri and formerly of Norborne, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 6, 2004 at her home.
She was born November 23, 1932 in Hardin, Missouri, the daughter of Lewis D. and Eolia Lee Coleman Scott. She attended DeWitt grade schools and Carrollton High School and later earned her G.E.D.
On April 21, 1971, she married Kenneth Susewind in Hardin, Missouri. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1997. She was a housewife and mother. Melva was a Jehovah's Witness and a member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Melva is survived by two daughters, Sherry C. Rutledge, Kansas City, Missouri, Janet Garner and husband Terry, Hardin, Missouri; three step children, Nona Andert and husband Greg, St. Louis, Missouri, Kenny Susewind and wife Bonnie, Houston, Texas, Lori McWilliams, Wichita, Kansas; four brothers and sisters, Maretta and Wilbur Beeler, Carrollton, Missouri, Carol Scott and Greg Preloger, Phoenix, Arizona, Connie McDaniels, Marshall, Missouri, Norman Scott, State of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and five step grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Patricia Wagaman, three brothers, Timothy, Milton and Melvin Scott, and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 9, 2004 at Gilead Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Tommy Smith officiating.
Visitation was from 9:30-10:30 a.m., at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri, prior to the service.

Dora Kathryn Epley, age 72, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 17, 2004 at her home.
She was born September 17, 1932 near Wakenda, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond Oscar and Ethel Wheeler Brotherton. She attended Carrollton Grade and High Schools.
Kathy was employed with Banquet Foods in Carrollton for twenty-five years and Spring Manor in Carrollton for thirteen years. She was a Jehovah's Witness.
Kathy is survived by five children; Keith Eric Epley, Billings, Montana, Karen Lorraine Bird, Orlando, Florida, Patricia Mae Molano, Dallas, Texas, William Alex Epley, Carrollton, Missouri, Pamela Kay Davis, Carrollton, Missouri; two brothers, William Brotherton, Carrollton, Missouri, Leroy Brotherton, Stedman, North Carolina; four sisters, Joan Long, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Virginia Mayer, Topeka, Kansas, Terri Culver, Carrollton, Missouri, Shirley Ellis, Lee's Summit, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Her parents; one son, Kenneth Epley; and two brothers, Kenneth Earl Brotherton and Donald Lee Brotherton, preceded Kathy in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri with Shawn Manheim officiating. Burial will be in Little Adkins-Brotherton Cemetery, near Wakenda, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home in Carrollton.

Maryeliza Maxine Hayes, age 93, formerly of Bogard, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the Baptist Home in Chillicothe, Missouri.
She was born February 10, 1911 northwest of Bogard, Missouri, the daughter of Willard M. and Lucretia Denham Hayes. She attended Oak Hill School. She was employed with Banquet Foods in Carrollton, Missouri for twenty-six and one half years, retiring in 1972. Maxine was a member of the First Baptist Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
Maxine is survived by one sister, Lucile Minton, Carrollton, Missouri; one niece, Gladys Ruth Briggs, Whitewater, Missouri and several cousins.
Her parents, two sisters, Celestia Winchester and Ruby Schanz, preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Coloma Cemetery, Coloma, Missouri, with Reverend Jeff Maxwell officiating.
Visitation will be from 12-1:00 p.m., before the service on Wednesday, at Gibson Funeral Home, Carrollton, Missouri.

William D. Leakey, age 74, of Stet, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Liberty Hospital, Liberty, Missouri.
He was born July 24, 1930 near Rockingham, Missouri in Ray County, the son of John Irl and Clara Mae Edgar Leakey. He attended Plum Grove and Lakeview rural grade schools and Norborne High School. He was in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill served on the Prairie Township Board, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri; and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Norborne, Missouri. He had been a farmer all his life.
On May 29, 1955, he was married to Laura Erlene Bruemmer by Reverend O.G. Tiemann at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norborne, Missouri. She survives at the home.
Bill is also survived by one son, Kent Leakey, Norborne, Missouri; two daughters, Shelley Peetoom and husband Robert, Norborne, Missouri, Kelley Standley and husband, Brian, Liberty, Missouri; three sisters, Earlene Hawkins, Carrollton, Missouri, Naomi Caylor, Hardin, Missouri, Bonnie Heil, Carrollton, Missouri; one brother, David Leakey, Hardin, Missouri; and two granddaughters, Collin and Chandler Standley, Liberty, Missouri.
His parents and four sisters, Stella Mae Garoutte, Ruth Leakey, Frances Bugg and Mildred Buhrmeister, preceded Bill in death.
Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Norborne, Missouri with Pastor Kim Scharff officiating. Burial was in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Norborne, Missouri. Military services were by Veterans of Foreign Wars Pence-Lovell-England Post #1773, Carrollton, Missouri.
Visitation was from 7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Gibson Funeral Home, Norborne, Missouri.

Lawrence H. W. Hartman, age 74, of Carrollton, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2004 at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton, Missouri.
He was born June 20, 1930 in Carrollton, Missouri, the son of Theodore and Clara Schnare Hartman. He attended Carrollton Schools. Lawrence was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Carrollton, Missouri.
He is survived by several cousins.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services were at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 22, 2004 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Carrollton, Missouri with Pastor Eric Swyres officiating.
