Boardman Bandy
Boardman Bandy, 93, Jerico Springs, was born June 27, 1911, in Sullivan, to William and Bonnie Mae (nee) Manion Bandy and passed away Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at Community Springs Healthcare Facility in El Dorado Springs.
He was a truck driver for Roadway Express for 30 years. After his retirement, he moved from Euless, TX, to Jerico Springs, where he bought a farm. He loved to raise and care for cattle and did so as long as he was able. He loved to raise a garden.
He was a 60+ year member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Sullivan. He became a Mason in 1950 in Dallas, TX, and was a Shriner and member of Eastern Star for many years. He was a very active and enjoyed it for many years.
He was saved and baptized into membership of Cedarville Baptist Church, Jerico Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters and one son, William.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lois, of the family home; one brother, Fred, and wife-Virginia - Sullivan; four daughters - Fern and husband-Sam Witt and Shirley and husband-Dan Savant - all of Sullivan, Sue and husband-Howard Finke - Raymore and Bonnie Mae Bandy - Jerico Springs; son, Edward, and wife-Dixie - Nevada; 19 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Services began at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, at the Christian Church in Jerico Springs, with Bro. Bob Martin officiating. Interment was in Zion Cemetery, Jerico Springs, under the direction of Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested in lieu of flowers.
Robert Alexander Brigham
Robert Alexander Brigham, one-day old infant twin son of Robert Alan Brigham and Jolene Palmer Brigham, Joplin, was born at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at St. John's Medical Center in Springfield and passed away at 1:43 p.m. that same day.
Survivors include his twin, Ethan Brigham, and brothers, Dereck Palmer and Todd Murray and wife-Michelle; maternal grandparents, Jim and Kay Alexander - El Dorado Springs, and Joe and Carrole Palmer - Fairhaven; paternal grandmother, Colleen Brigham - Joplin; maternal uncle, Shane Palmer, and wife-Michelle - Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska; paternal aunts - Patty Boseck and husband-Mike - Webb City, Karen Wood and husband-Jake - Springfield, Susan Warden and husband-Dave - Webb City and Peggy Gilliam and husband-Craig - Webb City; paternal uncles, Steven Brigham - Pittsburg, KS, and Larry Brigham and wife-Kelly - Shawnee, KS; three nieces - Kiana Jo and Blair and Riley Murray - El Dorado Springs; cousins - Sara Brigham and Emily Brigham - both of Webb City, Steven Brigham, Brandon Brigham, Tara Brigham and Katelyn Brigham - all of Frontenac, KS, Ashley Emmert and husband-Brian - Webb City, Adam Gilliam, Patrick Warden and Ann Warden - all of Webb City; and second cousin, Jackson Emmert.
Graveside services were Tuesday, March 1, at Mount Hope Cemetery pavilion with Rev. Bob Simon officiating.
Ruth Mildred (Wakeman)Hertzberg
Ruth Mildred (Wakeman) Hertzberg, 83, El Dorado Springs, was born April 19, 1921, in Bates City, to Edward and Lucy Wakeman and passed away on Feb. 25, 2005, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She attended grade school in Bates City, and high school in Bates City and Oak Grove.
She married Cecil Hertzberg on May 17, 1941. To this union, two children were born, Linda and Dennis. She converted and was baptized in 1941. She was a member of the First Baptist Church since Dec. 1941.
Mildred worked for Ferguson and Son's, Smith's Variety, Grayson's Variety, cleaned the phone company and babysat.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; her brothers - Curtis, Horace, Charles and Kenneth; and her sister, Emma Jean Yooners.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda McCormick, and son, Dennis Hertzberg and his wife-Jeannie - all of El Dorado Springs; grandchildren - Angela Austin - Broussard, LA, April Mathis - Pineville, LA, and Theresa Tabor and Eric Tabor - both of El Dorado Springs; great-grandchildren - Waylon and Morgan Austin, Derek and Jerad Mathis, Chapen Nolen, Rossington Hopkins and Ashlie Herrera; a sister, Gladys Mae Scott - Holden; sisters-in-law - Rachel Benham, Ruth Bausch and Viola Hazelwood - all of El Dorado Springs.
Services were held on Sunday, Feb. 27, in the Sheldon Chapel with burial in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery, under the direction of the Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
William A. Rice
William Augustus Rice, 69, Osceola, was born Feb. 25, 1935, to George and Gertrude Rice in Dederick and was the youngest sibling and passed away Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at his home in Osceola.
Bill's parents lived in several different homes during his childhood before settling near Taberville. The family returned to Independence, where Bill attended high school. After graduating from high school, Bill enlisted in the army and was honorably discharged in 1960.
He lived most of his adult life in Independence area. Bill enjoyed his work as a transit bus driver in Kansas City and retired from there back to the rural areas of his childhood.
Bill was very active in church throughout his life. He accepted Christ at the age of 14. In recent years he attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. After moving to Osceola, Bill attended the Vista Baptist church and enjoyed the opportunity to participate in the services and the fellowship of his new friends. Bill would tell anyone he was not much on singing but he gladly whistled the gospels he loved so much. Bill loved entertaining the children with his magic tricks and playing cards with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; one brother, Grant Rice; and his sister, Ellen Greer.
Survivors include two brothers and their wives, Don and June Rice - South Bend, IN, and Ray and Sue Rice - Taberville; and many nieces and nephews - greats and great-greats.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 26, in Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, with Dr. Larry Ruse officiating.
Songs were "Amazing Grace," "Over The Sunset Mountain," "When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder," "How Great Thou Art," "In The Garden," "Old Rugged Cross" and "It Is Well With My Soul."
Pallbearers were nephews.
Interment was in Taberville Cemetery, under the direction of the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home, Osceola.
Wallace Leroy Blystone
Wallace Leroy Blystone, 78, Kingsville, was born on Jan. 29, 1927, in Cedar County to Fred and Velma `Reeder' Blystone and passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, in the Warrensburg Medical Center.
After growing up in El Dorado Springs, he moved to and resided most of his life in and around Kansas City. He was a electrician and a 50-year member of the IBEW 124 electrical union in Kansas City. Wallace belonged to the Independence Masonic Lodge 76, The Scottish Rite of Kansas City and was a Shriner at the Ararat Temple. He enjoyed hunting quail and raccoon and was an avid stock car racing fan. In his later years, he enjoyed raising horses. He was a member of the Holden Saddle Club.
Wallace fathered six children - Lila Carriker - El Dorado Springs, Randy Blystone - Lincoln, AR, Melba Blystone - Kansas City, Renee Hoagenson - Odessa, Jeffery Blystone - Humansville and Wallace Blystone Jr. - of the home. He had 10 grandchildren - Eric, Adam and Merle Carriker, Gena Allison, Aaron Blystone, Donald Rogers, Reagon Rock, Athena and Jessica Hoagenson and Phillip Blystone and 15 great-grandchildren.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Renee Hoagenson, and one sister, Fay Long.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Blystone - of the home; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; five sisters - Lela Mae Rodgers - Independence, Jean Milburn and husband-Walter - Grain Valley, Adele Adams and husband-Jim - Springfield, Velda Dobbs and husband-Gary - El Dorado Springs and Beverly Mogan and husband-Dick - El Dorado Springs; one brother, Lonnie Joe Blystone, and wife- Alexis - Springfield; one aunt, Bertha Hubbard - El Dorado Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held Sunday, Nov. 20, in the Hackleman Chapel.
Cremation and inurnment in the El Dorado Springs City Cemetery was under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.
Sherri Lea Johnson
Sherri Lea Johnson, 37, El Dorado Springs, was born on Jan. 31, 1968, in Jourdaton, TX and passed away on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005.
Sherri was preceded in death by her grandparents, R.L. Nave and Walter and Gladys Pennington.
Survivors include her two sons, Jason Oliver - Wyoming and Justin Oliver - El Dorado Springs; her mother, Marsha Zech and husband-George - Walsenburg, CO; her father, Bud Pennington and wife-Judy - Tulsa, OK; her grandmother, Edna Louise Nave - Kansas City; one brother, Robert Pennington - Breckenridge, CO; one sister, Linda Tuggle - Richmond, ME; other extended family and friends.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, Nov. 25, in the Church of Christ under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
Clifford Ray Keith
Clifford Ray Keith, 53, El Dorado Springs, was born Aug. 14, 1952, in Kansas City, KS, to Eugene and Shirley (Schryer) Keith. He passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 25, 2005.
Before moving to El Dorado Springs in 2000, Cliff worked construction doing drywall in the Kansas City area and was a member of the Carpenter's Union. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Cliff was a member of the Church of God (Holiness) in El Dorado Springs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene.
He is survived by his wife, Sherri, of the home; his mother, Shirley - El Dorado Springs; his daughters, Lindsey and Holly - both of Kansas City, KS and Staci, of the home; his step sons, Rustin and Ryan Henson - both of Kansas City, KS; his brothers, Larry Keith and Darrell Keith - both of Kansas City, KS; his special aunt, Ruth Keith - El Dorado Springs; nieces, nephews and much extended family.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Church of God (Holiness) with Rev. Joe Trussell officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time.
Charitable donations may be made to Mid Missouri Bank.
