Betty (Williams) Roberts
Betty (Williams) Roberts, 77, Springfield, was born Nov. 18, 1928, the fourth child of Eula and Addie (Mallicoat) Williams. She passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, after a long and courageous battle with COPD. She had been cared for in her home by her loving family who had surrounded her with love. She left this world to be greeted by her heavenly Father.
Betty attended elementary school in a rural school west of Roscoe and graduated from Roscoe High School in 1947. It was in high school that she met the love of her life, Bill. They were married on May, 17, 1948, in Bremerton, WA, where Bill was serving in the Navy. To this union was born two sons, Larry and Philip, and one daughter, Patricia. They moved to Chamois in 1953, and then moved to Springfield where she spent the rest of her life.
Betty was a wonderful wife and mother and made a good home for their family. She was truly a good example of Proverbs 31, 10:27.
After the children were out of school, Betty embarked on a career with Century 21 Real Estate Co., which she enjoyed very much, meeting new people and helping them. She retired from this in 1993.
Betty was a member of the Eastern Star where she was elected District Deputy Grand Matron. She was very active in her church, always ready to help anyone do anything that needed to be done. Betty enjoyed the 50 plus club and Messiah's Quilting Circle and made many new friends there.
She and Bill loved to travel and went to several Elderhostels. They spent several winters in Florida as long as her health permitted. There she made more new friends, never forgetting her longtime friends. One could not be around Betty long before you were her friend. She enjoyed her family very much and helped them anyway that she could, always opening her home to any of us that were sick. A void has been left in our life that cannot be filled, but our loss is certainly heaven's gain.
