CHARLES D. CUTSHALL SR.
Charles D. Cutshall Sr., 63, of El Dorado Springs, formerly of Blue Springs, died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs. Services were held Tuesday, March 26, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel. Burial was in Blue Springs Cemetery. A Masonic service was held at 7:30 p.m.
Charles was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Blue Springs, to Charles Albert and Pearl (Thomas) Cutshall. He was a welder for Allis Chalmers for 28 years before his retirement in 1986. He was formerly a Deputy Sheriff in Grain Valley. He was a Mason and a member of Blue Springs Masonic Lodge and the Schell City Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine and a member of the Scottish Rite.
He is survived by his wife, Judy (Ruhnke) Cutshall, of the home; his sons, Charles D. "Chuck" and Bernadette Cutshall, McMahan, TX, Lonnie and Debbie Cutshall, Lockhart, TX; daughters, Pamela and Bill Buffalow, Independence, Sherrie and Don Hooker, Independence and Mistie and Terry Hatmaker, Cross Timbers; brother, Guy Floyd and Donna Cutshall, Kansas City; 18 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Arrangements were made by D.W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel.
ROBERT G. RALSTON
Robert G. Ralston, 62, El Dorado Springs, passed away on March 13, 2002, at 5:29 p.m. in the Sac-Osage Hospital in Osceola. Robert was born on May 8, 1939, to William and Delores (Gardner) Ralston in Independence.
Robert enjoyed puttering around on his farm, working on cars.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William and Delores; one brother, Jack Ralston; two sisters, Freda Hartley and Dee Wood. He is survived by his wife, Marie, of the home; two brothers, Bill and David Ralston; one sister, Lois Diibon; four sons - Bobby Don Ralston, Robert Ralston, Bobby Jr. Ralston and Lewis Morgan; three daughters - Kathy Eaton, Sherry Mallot and Marie Beck; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Services were held Saturday, March 16, at Sheldon-Goodrich Chapel, Osceola, with Pastor Larry Young officiating. Music was "Footprints in the Sand," "Daddy's Hands" and "You Lite Up My Life." Final disposition was cremation.
BILLY ROSS BASINGER
Billy Ross Basinger, 69, Harwood, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 24, 2002, at the Christian Care Center at Nevada. He was born on March 1, 1933, in Hackett, AR.
Billy was a long time resident of Blue Springs. He retired from Armco Steel after 32 years and then moved to Harwood to pursue his true passion, which was farming.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Kay Basinger, of the home, five sons-Justin Ray Basinger, Blue Springs, Steven Dale Basinger, Warrensburg, Terry Lee Basinger, Grain Valley, Donald Ray Basinger, Blue Springs, and Billy Robert Basinger, Overland Park, KS; 11 grandchildren; two sisters; four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill worked hard, was a skilled welder and loved the peace of the country. He provided for his family and was a great friend and neighbor. We will remember his determination, work ethic, strength and perseverance.
Service were held on Saturday morning, April 27, at the Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Larry Brown officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jeff Basinger, Brent Basinger, Matthew Basinger, Mark Basinger, Clark Basinger, Ricky Basinger, Michael Basinger, Danny Compton and Ben Allen. Honorary pallbearers-Pat Kendrick, Dweyne Friedli, Mark Farrell, Lacey O'Neal and Danny Bell.
CHARLES MARTIN MORRIS
Charles Martin Morris, 46, Lincoln, MO, passed away Friday, April 26, 2002, at his home in Lincoln. He was born on June 7, 1955, in Springfield, the son of Leonard Lee and Daphine Casteel Morris.
He grew up in El Dorado Springs, where he spent most of his childhood. In 1977, he moved to Lincoln. He was employed by the State Highway Department and worked until his health failed.
He was a member of the Hickory Chapel Methodist Church. Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his savior in the spring of 1964.
He was united in marriage to Kathy Hartle on June 25, 1977. Unto this union, two children were born.
Charles enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home, two sons, Dustin Zachary and Cody Jacob, both of the home, his father, Leonard Lee Morris, El Dorado Springs, two brothers, Roger Morris and his wife, Alberta, Osceola, and Bryan Morris and his wife, Rebecca, El Dorado Springs; and other relatives and many friends.
Services were Monday, April 29, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Rev. Robert Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Lincoln Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roger Morris, Bryan Morris, Jerry Welch, George Cook, Lindell Marshall and Harvy Beach. Honorary pallbearers were Marty Zych, Leon Rains and Gabby Mayberry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton County Hospice.
CHARLES R. BENHAM
Charles R. Benham, 86, Stockton, passed away at Nevada Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 30, 2002, after a long illness.
Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience starting Thursday, May 2. No family night has been scheduled.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, at Brumback Funeral Home, Stockton, with burial in Stockton Cemetery.
VIRGINIA ROSE OEHRNG
Virginia Rose Oehring, 78, of Rockville, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 24, 2002, at St. Luke's hospital in Kansas City. She was born on Sept. 24, 1923, at Taberville, the daughter of Harry E. and Elsie C. Kuenkler Greer.
Virginia graduated from the Rockville High School. She has lived her entire life in this area.
On March 7, 1941, Virginia was united in marriage to Orville Loren Oehring in Kansas City. To this union, seven children were born. Orville preceded Virginia in death on May 23, 1986.
Survivors include her four sons - Fred Oehring, David Oehring and Orville Oehring Jr, all of Rockville, and Robert Oehring, Kansas City; her three daughters - Linda McGinnis and Diane Nichols, Rockville, and Jeanne Lee, Raytown; one sister, Dorothy Davis, Raytown; 18 grandchildren - Terry Floyd, Freddie Oehring, Tim and Matt McGinnis, Jason, Christal and Darren Oehring, Angela Windsor, Janis Still, Dan Lee, Joseph and Amanda Oehring, Nick, Travis and Melissa Oehring and Dustin, Tabitha and B.J. Nichols; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Greer-Lake of the Ozarks, and Flossie Greer, Kansas City; three brothers-in-law, Jack Oehring, Appleton City, Robert Oehring, El Dorado Springs, and Bob L'Hommedieu, Platte City, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Virginia lived for her family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, always cherishing the times they were all together like reunions, holidays and Sunday dinners. She will always remain with us in our heats and our memories. She loved sewing and making quilts for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Virginia also enjoyed working outside in her garden and her flowers, spending many hours finding pleasure and beauty.
Virginia was member of the Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Christine L'Hommedieu; and two brothers, Richard and Cecil Greer. Services were held on Sunday afternoon, April 28, at the Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Fred Oehring Jr. and Rev. Bill Kenagy officiating. Interment was in the Taberville Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Jason Oehring, Dan Lee, Tim McGinnis, John Still, Trent Floyd, Joseph Oehring and Scott Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Freddie Oehring, Matt McGinnis, Nick Oehring, Travis Oehring, Darren Oehring, Dustin Nichols and B.J. Nichols.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Taberville Park.
ETHEL MAE PETTIBON
Ethel Mae Pettibon, 75, El Dorado Springs, passed away Friday morning, April 26, 2002, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs following an illness of several months. She was born on July 7, 1926, in Deerfield, MO, to Elmer Wolfe and Blanche Schibrel Wolfe.
She was married to Wendell D. Pettibon on July 7, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Ethel grew up in Deerfield and graduated from Nevada High School in 1944. She lived most of her adult life in El Dorado Springs. She did upholstery work out of her home, worked in real estate and sold Avon at various times, though most of her life was spent as a homemaker.
Ethel is survived by two sons, Larry Pettibon and his wife, Betty, Mulberry, KS, and Ronald Pettibon and his wife, Rhonda, El Dorado Springs; two daughters, Carolyn Ann Alexander and Judy Faye McGuirk both of El Dorado Springs; one sister, Edith Dirks, Moundville, 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, Wendell, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lana Gay Gray, in 2000, and two brothers, Willard and Everette Wolfe.
Services were Monday, April 29, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment followed in the Deerfield Cemetery.
BENNETT JULIAN THORESON
Bennett Julian Thoreson, 90, El Dorado Springs, MO, passed away on Friday morning, April 26, 2002. He was born on June 25, 1911, the son of Theodore and Nettie Bonstead Thoreson.
On May 18, 1934, Bennett was united in marriage to Evelyn Jones.
In 1960, the Thoreson's moved to El Dorado Springs from Iowa and have made their home here since that time. Bennett was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of El Dorado Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home; one son,Ted Thoreson, and his wife, Sue, El Dorado Springs; and four grandchildren-Tate, Tannen, Ty and Tedi.
Graveside services were held on Monday morning, April 29, 2002 at the Lost Island Cemetery in Palo Alto County, IA, under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.
