CHARLES HENRY HORN
Charles Henry Horn, 70, the son of Charles Reynolds and Leona Vee (Guyer) Horn was born July 21, 1930, in Grayson, MO, and passed from this life on Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his home in Milo.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Mae of the home in Milo; their children, son, Bob Horn and his wife, Sherry, and their children, Chris and Darcy, of Omaha, NE; son, Marty Horn, and his wife, Pat, and their son, Matt, of the Milo; daughter, Cindy Merrill, and her husband, Kent, and their children, Daniel, Sean and Chelsea, of Springfield; daughter, Tammy Skahan, and her husband, Tom, and their children, Stephanie, Tom Jr., Crystal, Ian and April of Bella Vista, AR; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Ray Thomas of Nevada; his mother-in-law, Oreana Gentry, of St. Joseph; his aunt, Opal Donhue; of St. Joseph; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
There was cremation with no funeral service planned. The family requests no flowers. Memorials are suggested to the Nevada Regional Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were under the direction of the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, Schell City.
BONNIE JOYCE KIRKPATRICK
Bonnie Joyce Kirkpatrick, 71, Olathe, KS, passed away Friday, June 1, 2001, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were Tuesday, June 5, at Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 9201 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Bonnie was born Dec. 16, 1929, in El Dorado Springs, the daughter of John and Leah (Carman) Eddlemon. She graduated from high school in Hutchison, KS, and then went to Kansas City Business School. She had lived in Olathe since 1950 and worked for Morris Hubbard, Pembers Clothing Store, King Radio, Deffenbaugh Disposal Company and worked with her husband in running their business, Town and Country Trash Service.
She was a member of the Rebbekah's for over 25 years.
She married Archie Glenn Kirkpatrick on Nov. 15, 1950 in Olathe, KS. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Joyce Sheehan of Lenexa, KS; Kathy Kirkpatrick, Olathe, KS; her mother, Leah Eddlemon, Olathe, KS; a sister, Elaine Boydston, Independence; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Preceding her in death were two sons, Michael Kirkpatrick and Dennis Kirkpatrick and her father, John Eddlemon.
BETTY JOSEPHINE DAILEY
Betty Josephine Dailey, 73, Nevada, passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2001, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Dederick, the daughter of Bennie Finis Shaffer and Edith Marie Shirley Shaffer. She married Roy J. Dailey on Aug. 1, 1975, in Miami, OK and he survives of the home.
Mrs. Daily was born in Dederick and spent all of her life in this area. She worked for many years at Nevada State Hospital retiring in 1993. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was chairman of the poppy sales fundraiser for many years. She was also a member of the Westminster Club.
Survivors in addition to her husband include four sons - Joseph Clinton Olson, Joplin; William Eugene Olson, Plymouth, WI; Bennie Wayne Olson, Nevada and David Nelson Olson, St. Louis; one stepdaughter, Connie Fleener, El Dorado Springs; one brother, Gerald Shaffer, Raymore; one sister, Pearl Hoffman, Anchorage, AR and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, James Roy Olson.
Services were Monday, June 4, at Ferry Funeral Home with John Nichols officiating.
Memorials are suggested to American Legion Auxiliary in care of Ferry Funeral Home. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Dederick.
ORVAL WILLIAM “BILL” STOKES
Orval William “Bill” Stokes, 61, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Saturday evening, June 2, 2001, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital of cancer. He was born on Nov. 16, 1939, in San Bernadino, CA, the son of Clyde and Vera Schlotfield Stokes. The family moved back to Missouri in 1941.
On May 12, 1967, Bill was united to marriage to Helen Kareem in Boise, ID.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; two daughters, Francy Stanfill and Vicki Marhun, both of Ridgefield, WA; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both his mother and father.
Bill drove trucks for several years. He also laid telephone cable for seven years. Bill and Helen built Jack's Corner Cafe in El Dorado Springs, which he worked for the last three years.
Memorial services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, June 6, at the Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Arthur Koehn officiating.
KENNETH DEAN FRANK
Kenneth Dean Frank, 63, El Dorado Springs, passed away on Saturday evening, June 2, 2001, at the Cedar County Memorial Hospital. He was born on Dec. 10, 1937 in Rogers, AR, the son of L.F. and Margaret Frank.
A United States Army veteran, Mr. Frank was employed as a truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home; one son, William Frank of Cameron; three daughters - Leona Pope, Walker, Rose Henderson, El Dorado Springs and Jenny McGill, Arkansas; five step children, Carl and Charlie Carter, both of Weaubleau; Rose Thomas, Rockville; Gabriel and Harold Thomas-both of Kansas City; 32 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, June 6, at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Joe Trussell officiating. Interment was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.
KENNETH W. McKINLEY JR
Kenneth W. McKinley Jr., 56, Coffeyville, KS, died Sunday morning, June 3, 2001, at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. Mr. McKinley was born May 19, 1945 in Nevada to Kenneth Woodrow (Sr.) and Agatha (Nemlowill) McKinley.
He graduated from El Dorado Springs High School in 1963. On Oct. 24, 1964, he married Beverly Ann Dobbs in El Dorado Springs. The couple moved to Coffeyville, KS, in November 1964, where Mr. McKinley began employment with Jack Jones Sinclair Service Station. In May 1965, he began working for Acme Foundry, where he was currently a supervisor in the Mold Department. Mr. and Mrs. McKinley also own K&B; Drive-In in Dearing, KS. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of the Foundry Association.
Mr. McKinley is survived by: his wife, Beverly of the home; one son, Kenneth Wayne “Pete” McKinley, and wife, Sherry, Coffeyville, KS; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Yeubanks, and husband, Robert Jr. of Coffeyville, KS; his mother, Gay McKinley, Coffeyville, KS; one sister, Leesa Coulter, Stockton; five grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Kenney will be dearly missed by all.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 7, at Ford-Wulf-Burns Edgewood Chapel. The family would welcome memorials to Hospice Inc., of Coffeyville, KS.
ROBERT `BOB' EUGENE JOHNSON
Robert `Bob' Eugene Johnson, 44, Rockville, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. He was born May 24, 1957, to Kenneth James Johnson Sr. and Alta Ruth Turpin in Kansas City.
Bob, one of five boys, moved to Rockville at age seven. He attended grade school in Rockville and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1976. He began working at a flea market and also did small engine repair. His hobby was flea marketing and trading. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching wrestling on TV and reading westerns.
Bob is survived by four brothers, Kenneth James Johnson Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Naperville, IL; Michael Johnson and his wife, Johannah, Rockville; Gary Lynn Johnson and wife, Cindy, Harrisonville and David Johnson and wife, Wanda, Cleveland, MO; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were Thursday, May 31, at the Rockville Cemetery with Rev. Gene Gray officiating. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Services were under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel (660-679-6555) in Butler.
