ELSIE LEONA CALDWELL REEVES
Elsie Leona Caldwell Reeves, 93, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, KS. She was born on Jan. 13, 1909, the daughter of James N. Caldwell and Mary Ellen Leonard Caldwell.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 65 years, Emery Reeves. Survivors include her children and their families - Cletis - Green Forest, AR, Merle - Husum, WA, Jerle - Gentry, AR, Donald - Richmond, KS, Jim - El Dorado, KS, Curtis - Ottawa, KS, Kenneth - Wellsville, KS, Janet Bouse - Wellsville, KS and Juanita Shay - Paola, KS; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Hackleman Chapel. Interment will be in the Hazel Dell Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hazel Dell Cemetery.

FERN IRENE REASONER DURRETT TEAGUE
Fern Irene Reasoner Durrett Teague, 80, El Dorado Springs, passed away at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Research Hospital, Kansas City.
Fern was born in Appleton City, Feb. 10, 1922. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Vester and Alta Grace Reasoner; her husband, Eldon Teague, and four brothers - Charles, Lester, Roy and Kenneth Reasoner.
Fern is survived by her two daughters, Peggy Smith and her husband, C.A., Collins, Jeanie Holland and her husband, Chuck, Marshall. One sister, Dorothy Talley, Nevada; five grandchildren - Leland Smith and his wife, Gayla; Randy Smith and his wife, Rhonda; Mark Smith and his wife, Angie - all of Collins, Renee Senten and her husband, Peter, Kansas City; Christian Holland, Marshall; four great-grandchildren - Caleb Smith, Jordan Smith, Haley Smith and Cali Smith - all of Collins; one great-great-grandson, Drew Hemeyer, Kansas City; her step-family included three children - Melda Teague Potter, Lendon Teague, Neale Teague and his wife, Gayle; several grandchildren - Jon Potter, Jenna Potter Wright, Julie Potter, Michelle Teague Frank, Rieghlah Teague, Graig Teague, Carrie Teague Shallenburger, Kim Barger, Karen Barger Goodin and Randy Barger; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
Fern received Christ at an early age and was an active member of the Christian Church. She loved gardening, flowers and quilting. She was loved by all her family. She was a Christian lady with a gentle soul. She always had a sweet smile and was truly interested in everyone. Most of all she loved to visit and talk to everyone.
Fern worked hard and took care of her father and two daughters with more love than anyone could ever know. She will be missed greatly by everyone.
Services were Saturday, June 8 in the First Christian Church of El Dorado Springs with Rev. Doug Houdyshell officiating. Music was by Vera Bourland and Betty Scott. Casketbearers were Randy Smith, Leland Smith, Mark Smith, Caleb Smith, Christian Holland and Greg Teague. Honorary Casketbearers were Lawrence Talley, Leroy Reasoner and Peter Senten. Interment was in Appleton City Cemetery under direction of Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.

BOB J. COLLINS
Bobby June Collins “Bob J.”, 65, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Father's Day, June 16, 2002, at the home of his son in San Antonio, TX. All his close family members were present. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer for several years.
Bob was born on Dec. 19, 1936, in Miami OK.
His mother and father, Floyd W. and Lois M. Collins preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving companion of 12 years, Connie Lewis, - Ingleside, TX; three children - Mike Collins, and daughter-in-law, Linda - San Antonio, Sue Lynne Collins, and son-in-law, Kevin Clodfelter - Miami, OK, Steve Collins, and daughter-in-law, Belinda - Harrisonville; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Patty DeMier, and brother-in-law, Wayne - Centennial, CO; a brother, F. LeRoy Collins, and sister-in-law, Sallie - Miami, OK. He also leaves his devoted pet and traveling buddy, Rocky. He will be truly missed by his aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
He graduated from Miami High School in 1954 and attended Northeastern A & M College in Miami, OK. Bob was a member of the Miami B.P.O.E. Lodge #1320 for 37 years, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #4279 of El Dorado Springs and the Moose Lodge #2063 of Aransas Pass, TX. He was a past president of the Miami Horseman's Association and was very active in the Miami Jaycees. He was a member of the CASI Chili Association and BBQ affiliations of which he was involved in fundraising activities to support terminally ill people.
Bob retired from the partnership of Collins Construction Company in 1985 and moved to his home in Port Aransas, TX. As an OSP Engineer he became involved in the underground telecommunications fiber optic business. Due to ill health in 2001, he retired from the Midland Group Tele-Communications Company of Springfield, MO.
The visitation with the family will be held between 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, 1432 “B” North West, Miami OK. The graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, June 21, in the Ottawa, OK Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rob Loskowski, Kevin Peavler, Dan DeMier, Gary Collins, Jay Hubartt and Randy Pryor. After the funeral, family and friends will join at 403 G.N.W. Miami, OK 74354.
Memorials may be made to the VNA and Hospice, Attn: Ginger Cave, 8721 Botts Street, San Antonio, Texas 78217.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami, OK.

MARILYN SUE POTTER
Marilyn Sue Potter died peacefully at her home in El Dorado Springs on Monday, June 10, 2002. She was born in Wichita, KS, on Sept. 18, 1936, the daughter of George Elmer and Gladys Lena Warren Patterson.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, John F. Potter, of the home; her daughter, Debra Sue Ross Buswell, and her husband, Randy, - Fremont, CA; and her grandson, Trevor Buswell. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Warren Lee.
Marilyn lived in El Dorado Springs for the past 14 years and previously in Lakewood, CO.
Marilyn had a career in retail sales since the age of 15 and most recently worked at Wal-Mart in Nevada. She worked at D & F in Colorado and several small fashion boutiques, where she modeled designer clothes.
She loved to be with people. Marilyn has many friends, both in Missouri and Colorado. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and collecting Precious Moments.
Services were held on Friday afternoon, June 14, at the Hackleman Chapel with Rev. Doug Houdyshell officiating. Interment was in the El Dorado Springs Cemetery under the direction of the Hackleman and Sons Funeral Home. Pallbearers were George T. Potter, Larry Flint, Roger Flint, Ron Miller, Warren Lee Potter and Randy Buswell.

IDA A. OZBUN
Ida Ann (Mildren) Ozbun was born August 8, 1900, near Great Bend, KS, to William and Wealthy A. (Drury) Mildren. She passed away on June 15, 2002, at the Community Springs Nursing Home in El Dorado Springs, where she and husband, John, made their home since August 1988. He passed away in February 1990.
When she was three years old, Ida moved with her family from the Great Bend area in wagons to the area of Pretty Prairie, KS and there she grew to adulthood.
On May 3, 1921, Ida was united in marriage to John E. Ozbun, to this union three daughters were born. John and Ida lived in Medora, KS, several years before moving to the Collins area in 1940. Ida worked in the home and on the farm until 1962, then she started working as a nurses' aide in the Waite Nursing Home and continued until 1972.
She was a member of Riverview Bible Church in her long time neighborhood.
John and Ida celebrated almost 69 years together. their life together was a hallmark of love and devotion to God, each other, their family and the family of man. The love and caring of John and Ida has made a lasting difference in the lives of their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and the many friends gained throughout the years.
Their willingness to love and care had been evidenced throughout their lives.
During the years of the depression, they cared for and reared not only their own children, but also included in their family are four nephews who they loved as sons and aided several others when times were so very hard.
Services were held Monday, June 17, in the Sheldon Chapel with Pastor Albert Lee Venter and Pastor Charles Nickel officiating.
Music was by Donna Carney, vocalist and G.G. Cole, pianist.
Casketbearers were: Jack Redinger, Bob Gardner, Brian Dorge, Wayne Ray Mildren, Willis Rearden, Bill Thompson and Adam Norris.
Interment was in Freeman-Holsapple Cemetery under direction of Randy Sheldon, Sheldon Funeral Home.

MARY WHITE
Mary White, 84, Paris, IL, passed away June 11, 2002 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN.
She is survived by four sons in Illinois, Arkansas and California and by one daughter, Carrie Bland - El Dorado Springs, who inherited her looks and love of the outdoors.
While in El Dorado Springs, Mary attended the Nazarene Church and enjoyed the activities of the POPS Museum. Both are accepting memorials.

DENNIS LYNN HLAVACEK
Dennis Lynn Hlavacek, 47, the son of George and Pauline (Julian) Hlavacek, was born April 3, 1955, at the Nevada City Hospital. He passed away Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Cox (South) Hospital, Springfield, after heart surgery.
He married Dalinda Ann Mincks, Sept. 10, 1982, at the Elkton Baptist Church. To this union one son was born, Michael Tyler Hlavacek.
Dennis accepted Christ as his savior on March 1, 1970, at the First Baptist Church in El Dorado Springs.
He was employed at the International Shoe Company until it closed. He worked for Barrington Manufacturing for several years and had been working for O'Sullivan Industries in Lamar.
Dennis was a loving husband and father enjoying his family and home. He and son, Michael, enjoyed many activities. He was so proud of Michael.
He is survived by his wife, Dalinda; his son Michael; and parents, George and Pauline Halavacek all of El Dorado Springs; father-in-law, Jay Mincks, and step mother Marge; brothers-in-law, Dennis Mincks and wife - Alto, GA, Todd Mincks and wife - Brighton, TN; Cathie and Brian Barham - Stockton, and Malinda Crawford - Stockton.
Dennis is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Services were Wednesday, June 26, at Sheldon Chapel with Rev. Ralph Benham, Jay Mincks and Dennis Mincks officiating.
Music was “Amazing Grace” and “One Day at a Time” by Leonard Ketterman, soloist and Rita Farris, accompanist, plus “The Dance” and “There You'll Be”.
Casketbearers were Roger Zartman, Frank Julian, Ralph Zartman, Howard Zartman, Todd Mincks and Dennis Mincks. Interment was in El Dorado Springs City Cemetery under direction of Randy Sheldon, Sheldon Funeral Home, El Dorado Springs.
