Doy Frank Parker was born July 28, 1919 and lived his childhood in Ozark County.
He died March 1, 2008.
He has donated his remains to the Genesis Donor Research Program.
Doy proudly served his nation as a private 1st class in World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rita, and five brothers and five sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; a sister, Olline; two children, Karen and Rick; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family requests that flower donations be sent to Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava.
Hazel Fern Davis, 83

Hazel Fern Davis, 83, passed away March 6, 2008, in Riverview Manor, Ozark, after a long journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born March 24, 1924, in Ava, the daughter of Ernest and Eula (McJimsey) Whetsten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Ernestine Thompson, and the father of her children, Herman Davis.
Fern is lovingly survived by her children, Carla Miles and Bob, of Cumming, Ga., Mike Davis and wife, Peggy, of Ava, and Vanessa Beard and husband, Lynn, of Ozark; one sister, Donna Durham and husband J. Lynn, of Springfield; two brothers, Norman Whetsten and wife, Dorothy, of Lampe, and Marvin Whetsten, of Springfield; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other caring relatives and many good friends.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 8, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, with Chaplain Marcia Dodson officiating.
Interment was held later in Rivermonte Mausoleum, Springfield.
Visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, in the funeral home.
William O. ‘Bill’ Casey, 80

William O. Casey the son of Oren Casey and Maggie Nance Casey, was born on Dec. 25, 1927 in Pottman, Kan., and went to be with his Lord Jesus on March 8, 2008 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield, at the age of 80 years, 2 months and 13 days.
Bill lived all of his life in the Bradleyville community. He was a beef farmer and milk hauler for Bradleyville Cheese Plant.
On Aug. 28, 1947, Bill and Tressie Cox were united in marriage in Crossroads, Mo., and to this union, two children were born.
Bill enjoyed squirrel, turkey, deer and coon hunting, fishing, and growing a big garden to give to his friends. He also enjoyed raising hogs and the blessing of Christian fellowship at gospel/blue grass singings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister, Linda.
He is survived by his wife, Tressie (Cox) Casey, of Heart of the Ozarks, Ava; one son and wife, Gary and Barbara Casey, Bradleyville; one daughter and husband, Sue and Bill Guerin, Taneyville; five grandchildren, Eric and Shorty Guerin, Cassey Matthews, Sara Ridings and Amy Blair; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers and their wives, Wayne and Mary Casey, Springfield, and J.B. and Marcie Pare, Ozark; four sisters, Nita Lambeth, Springfield, Lorene and husband, Elwyn, Granite City, Ill., Betty and husband, Junior Halcomb, Oldfield, and Carolyn and husband, Frank Busek, Phillips, Wisc.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Tuesday, March 11, at 10 a.m., in Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Keith Lafferty and Jeff Marsh officiating. Interment followed in the Hall Cemetery at Mound. Visitation was Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The family requests memorials to American Diabetes Association or Gideons International.
Bearl H. Bruffett Sr., 78

Bearl H. Bruffett Sr., 78, of Milan, Ill., died March 3 at his residence.
Mr. Bruffett was born Nov. 27, 1929, at Hammond, Mo., the son of Vernie L. and Ida (Roberts) Bruffett.
On Jan. 26, 1957, he was married to Judy Lee Proksch, at Milan, Ill.
She preceded him in death Dec. 29, 1972.
Also preceding him in death, were his parents and three brothers, Leonard, Henry and Earl.
Bearl retired in 1985 after 25 years of service to I.H. Farmall in Rock Island, Ill. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and had attended the world championships over the years. He was a member of the Moline and Reynolds horseshoe clubs and the Illinois State Horseshoe Pitchers’ Association, and the National Horseshoe Pitchers’ Association. He was also an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman. His favorite fishing hole was at the steel dam in Milan while watching eagles soar.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was a sergeant and sharpshooter in the Korean War. He was also an Airborne Ranger. He was honored and chosen to guard the Peace Talks in Korea in 1953.
Survivors include his son, Bearl Bruffett Jr. and wife, Denise, Rock Island, Ill.; daughters, Phyllis Bruffett, Coralville, Iowa, and Penny and her husband, James Obermann, Schaumburg, Ill.; a granddaughter, Kaylee Bruffett, Rock Island, Ill.; three sisters, Pearl (Ted) Casey, Prineville, Ore., Jerlene (Charles) Seeley, Prinveville, Ore., and Erma Lee (Ralph) Madden, Osawatomie, Kan.; and two sisters-in-law, Charlotte Bruffett, The Dalles, Ore., and Norman Bruffett, Prineville, Ore.
Funeral services were held at 12 noon Friday at Family Funeral Services, Milan, Ill., with burial in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Ill.
Evelyn ‘Raydene’ Dennis, 71

Evelyn "Raydene" Bell Dennis, of Hobbs, N.M., passed away on Monday, March 10, 2008 at her home after a courageous five year battle with cancer. She was 71 years old.
Raydene was born Sept. 23, 1936 in Douglas County, to the late Cecil Bell and Hazel (Pool) Bell Bushong.
Raydene married Clifford Dennis on Oct. 2, 1957 in West Plains. The couple was blessed with two children, Evelyn and Cecil.
They moved to Hobbs, N.M. in l960.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, loving grandmother and loyal friend. Her faith and belief in God sustained her during her five year journey with cancer. She was a member of the Life Temple UPC Church.
Raydene will remain in the hearts of her husband of 50 years, Clifford Dennis; her daughter, Evelyn O'Connell and son in-law, Tim O'Connell, of Midland, Texas; son, Cecil Dennis and daughter in-law, Cindy Dennis, of Hobbs, N.M.; her grandchildren, Brandon and Joshua Luck, of Midland, Texas, and Jessica Dennis, of Hobbs, N.M. She is also survived by four sisters, Dorothy Curtis, Mayme Lambdin, and Betty Souder, all of Missouri, and Virgie Himioben, of Georgia; and one brother, Melvin Bushong, of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Bell, in l940; mother, Hazel Pool Bell Bushong in l984; and stepfather, Orville Bushong in 2001. Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Bernice Walker and Leatha Kirkpatrick, of Missouri; four brothers, Marvin Bushong, Buck Bushong and Ben Bushong, of Missouri, and Loyn Bushong, of Illinois; grandparents, Maggie Hicks Pool and George Pool, Vianna Loveall Bell, and C.C. Lum Bell.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, Hobbs, N.M., with Pastor Wilbur Boone, Pastor Jason Tippy and Pastor Wayne Villar officiating.
A second funeral service will be conducted at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, at 10 a.m. Monday, March 17, with a visitation Sunday, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Pastor Wilbur Boone and Bro. Max Stephens will officiate at the service here, with burial to follow in Pleasant Home Cemetery.

Kenneth Dale Duff, 73

Kenneth Dale Duff, son of Marion Duff and Elga O. Singleton Duff, was born on July 5, 1934 in Ava, and passed away on March 5, 2008 in Ava, at the age of 73 years and 8 months.
Kenneth was a resident of the McClurg area since 1996, moving from Washington state. He was a welder for the timber industry with Weyerhauser Co. He was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army.
Kenneth was united in marriage to Patricia Gilcher and later divorced.
On June 12, 1959, Kenneth and Carolyn Sartwell were united in marriage in Washington state. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2001.
Kenneth enjoyed attending auctions, yard sales, family gatherings and loved playing with babies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyn and a son, Randy Duff in 2003.
He is survived by two sons, Tom and Ken Duff, both of Washington state; four daughters, Sue Perrine, Washington, Kathy and husband, Randy Hodges, Longview, Wash., Teresa Duff, Oregon and Carol and husband, Chuck Lee, Ava; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Dewey Duff, Dennis Duff, Donna Hubbard, Deeann Radach, Deward Duff all of Washington state, Douglas Duff, Bradleyville, and Dell Crosby, North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was Friday, March 7, at 11 a.m., in the Fannon Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993 of Ava.
Eulogy was given by Bill Coats.
Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Gevene Maxine Cochran, 72

Gevene Maxine Cochran was born on May 14, 1936 in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Noble and Hazel Mitchell Smith, and departed this life on May 25, 2008 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 72 years old.
On Dec. 31, 1952 Gevene and Raymond Lee Cochran were united in marriage in Oakland, Calif., and to this union, four children were born.
Together they shared over 50 years of marriage. Gevene was a kind and fun loving person, enjoying traveling, camping, fishing, spending time with her family and could not pass up any chance to attend or watch a bull riding event. As a member of the Brushy Knob Church since 1980, she will be dearly missed.
Gevene was preceded by her husband, Ray, a brother, Vern Smith, and a sister, Shirley Smith.
Her survivors include her two sons, Roger and wife, Kim Cochran, of Norwood, and David Cochran, also of Norwood; two daughters, Rhonda and husband, Disney Price, of Theodosia, and Liana and husband, Jamie Young, of Seymour. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren.
Services for Gevene Cochran were graveside Wednesday, May 28, in the Brushy Knob Cemetery at 2 p.m., under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
No formal visitation was scheduled.
Frances ‘Penny’ Hankins, 68

Frances Pearlene "Penny" Hankins was born to Lester and Joy Roberts in Brown Branch, Mo., on July 11, 1939.
She went to be with her Lord May 22, 2008.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd R. Hankins, Ozark; two sons, Dennis Hankins and wife, Tawanna, Rogersville, and David Hankins, Ozark; four grandchildren, Jason Hankins, Tiffany (Hankins) Morisset, Jennifer Hankins, Jordan Hankins; six great-grandchildren, Taylar Morisset, Rhyan Morisset, Madison Morisset, Calen Hankins, Halee Hankins, Jason Hankins, Jr.; two brothers, Gene Roberts, Kansas, and Eddie Roberts, Oldfield; four sisters, Alene Engles, Washington, Rose Mell, California, Gracie Stevens, Ozark, and Marie VanCamp, Ava; and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a great-grandchild, Skylar Hankins; and a nephew, Kurtis Light.
Visitation was Friday, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
Funeral Services were Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. in Mentor Baptist Church, Rogersville, with burial in Holland Cemetery.
