Donald Dean Boden, 61, died July 3, 2008, at 12 noon, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava.
He was a retired parts department worker at Hughes Aircraft in California and a good friend to the Charles Melton family of Ava.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Dave William Fleetwood, 80

Dave William Fleetwood, son of William Dave Fleetwood and Maggie (Hitchcock) Fleetwood, was born Aug. 23, 1927, at Squires, Missouri, and passed away July 8, 2008, at the age of 80 years 10 months and 15 days.
Dave was a life-long resident of Squires.
On March 6, 1959 Dave and Sylvia Marie Maples were united in marriage by Rev. Earnest Hamby in Ava, and they were blessed with one son, Robert, who resides in Branson West, Mo., and is employed by Silver Dollar City.
Dave was a road construction laborer and farmer. At the time of his death he was still residing on the farm where he was probably born.
Dave attended Murray Church.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Sherman and Burney Fleetwood; one sister, Dorothy (Fleetwood) Plumb and her husband Billy Plumb; two half brothers, Bill (Will) and Fred Fleetwood; and two nephews, Timothy Hartgraves and Harlin Plumb.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia and son, Robert William (Bobby) Fleetwood; two sisters and their spouses, Ellie and Russell Doran, Ava, and Ethil and Leon Lane, Squires; nieces, Betty and Darrel Hesterlee, Ruby and Ray Gard of Independence; many other nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Junior Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Murray Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Thursday) 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Murray Cemetery.
Marie Privett, 87

Marie Privett, daughter of Robert Everett Privett and Sarah Elsie Foster Privett, was born on June 2, 1921, in Ava, and passed away on July 8, 2008 St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City.
Marie was a resident of the Kansas City area for 55 years. She was a switchboard operator for a hospital and a member of the Redeemer Fellowship Church of Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Marvin Russell Judkins.
Her survivors include one sister, Victoria Louise Casebolt and husband, Dr. John, Lincoln, Neb.; one brother, Samuel Raymond Privett, Wrangel, Alaska; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Service is Friday, July 11, at 1 p.m., at Redeemer Fellowship Church, (formerly First Calvary Baptist) 3921 Baltimore, Kansas City, with Rev. Kris McGee officiating and eulogy given by Gene Oaks. Graveside service will be Saturday, July 12, at 1 p.m., in the Ava Cemetery, with the Rev. Robert Milton Casebolt officiating. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Frank William Reeves, 81

Frank William Reeves, son of Frank Ira Reeves and Louise (Zach) Reeves, was born on July 4, 1926 in Madison, Neb., and passed away on July 3, 2008 in Mt. Vernon Veterans Home, Mt. Vernon, Mo., at the age of 81 years, three hours short of his 82nd birthday.
Frank was a resident of Ava since 1981, moving from Los Alamos, N.M., where he retired from LANL in Los Alamo as a computer maintenance/manager.
On Jan. 13, 1947 Frank and Adeline Walters were united in marriage in Manhattan, Kan., and to this union eight children were born.
Frank was a veteran and served in world War II as an ET (E-7) with the U.S. Navy for 22 years. He was instrumental in starting the LST 49 Reunion Assoc., which served during WWII and was actively involved for over 21 years.
Frank was a member of Douglas County American Legion Post #112 and VFW #5993. He was also a devoted member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Ava.
Frank was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and served as District Deputy & Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus in Los Alamos, N.M.
Frank enjoyed traveling, gardening, camping, fishing, hunting, music and dancing.
He loved being with all of his family for gatherings. He loved life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother and one son, Robert.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline, of the home in Ava; seven children and their spouses, Patricia and John Day, Ravenel, S.C., Frank Jr. and Margaret Reeves, Los Alamos, N.M., Teresa Reeves and Kevin Long, St. Louis, Richard and Jill Reeves, Brunswick, Ga., Jeffrey Reeves, Kansas City, Kan., JoAnn and Matt Abbott, Virginia Beach, Va., and Kristi Reeves and Rudd Gates, Lakewood, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Krueger, Fulda, Minn., and Helen Coughey, Azusa, Calif.; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, July 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Ava, with Father Paul Wightman and Deacon Joe Kurtenbach officiating. Full military honors will be presented by U. S. Navy, American Legion Post 112, and VFW Post 5993. Frank's cremains will be placed in the Columbarium Wall at the Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield.
A visitation and rosary will be Tuesday, July 15 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home. The family requests memorials to Alzheimers Assoc. or Season's Hospice of Springfield. Arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Bertha Mae Coats Uhlmann, 91

Bertha Mae Uhlmann was born on March 16, 1917 in Douglas County, Missouri to James Oliver and Mary May (Griffiths) Coats, and completed her journey on Sunday morning, June 29, 2008 in Ravenwood Assisted Living in Springfield, Missouri. She died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91 years.
Bertha grew up in Douglas and Wright counties, and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1935, and then attended Southwest Missouri Teacher's College in Springfield.
She was united in marriage to William Robert Uhlmann on Aug. 11, 1940. One daughter was born to this union.
`They made their home in the Gentryville area for many years and later moved to Springfield, to be near their daughter and family.
Robert passed away on Aug. 2, 1992.
Bertha enjoyed being a homemaker, wife and mother. She loved visits with her family and friends. She had a special way of bringing joy to any gathering.
She attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove and after moving to Springfield, she attended the Seminole Baptist Temple as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Elmer Coats, Mable Penner, Stella Souder, Ola Hutcheson, Noble Coats and Norman Coats.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Rick Benda, and one grandson, Cory Benda, all of Springfield; one sister, Mildred Parker of Bellingham, Wash.; and Robert's sister, Marie Bailey and husband, John, of Nashville, Tenn.
Bertha will be missed by her large family, beloved nieces and nephews, many dear friends, and by her church family.
The family especially thanks the staff of Oxford Hospice and Ravenwood Assisted Living for their kindness.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers contributions to the St. Jude Children's Hospital c/o the funeral home.
A celebration of Bertha's life was held on Wednesday, July 2, at 10 a.m., in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Melvin Brown officiating. Betty Salmon sang "How Great Thou Art, " "Precious Memories, " "In The Garden, " and "Will The Circle Be Unbroken."
Pallbearers were Rick Benda, Cory Benda, Jon Nuckolls, Wayne Coats, Bart Hutcheson, Brad Searle, Souder Tate, and Kirk Penner.
Honorary pallbearers were Madison Searle, Chris Penner, Kenneth Coats, Woodfin Garrett, Tim Callahan, David Garrett, Donn Searle, Kevin Coats and Kirby Coats.
Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
Flora V. Sanford, 90

Flora V. Sanford, of Ellsworth, Iowa, formerly of Ava, passed away June 5, 2008, at the age of 90 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Sanford; her brother, Carold Heinkel; and her parents, John and Martha Heinkel.
She is survived by one sister, Leona Brattmiller, of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, and one brother, Robert Heinkel, of San Jose, Calif.; four daughters, Janice (Bill) Chantland, of Marshalltown, Iowa, Diana Batcheller, of Ava, Nancy Sanford, of Marceline, Mo., and Vicky (Barry) Anksorus, of Ellsworth, Iowa; and two sons, Bill (Cheryl) Sanford, of Ellsworth, Iowa, and Warren (Valerie) Sanford, of Burlington, Iowa.
She also has several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Jonathan Batcheller, of Ava.
Memorial service was held June 21 at 2 p.m., at the Badger Lutheran Church. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery in Ellsworth.
Noretta ‘Kay’ Miller, 67

Noretta "Kay" Miller, the daughter of Gordon E. Wall Sr. and Lennie G. Narramore Wall, was born Sept. 6, 1940, in Napa, Calif., and departed this life June 27, 2008 at the age of 67 years 9 months and 21 days.
Kay was a resident of the Ava area for the past 12 years moving here from New Mexico. Before retirement she was employed as a bank manager.
Kay and Philip E. Miller were united in marriage Aug. 23, 1977, in Las Vegas, Nev.
She loved her home and was a great homemaker and gardener. She was also a great secretary and enjoyed her bookwork.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Philip E. Miller, of the home, Ava; one son, Gary and Susan Crawford, Moreno Valley, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Debra Gale Davis, Arroyo Grande, Calif.; two grandchildren, Christopher and Kyle Crawford; a brother, Gordon E. Wall Jr., San Jose, Calif.; and other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are under the direction and care of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Ava.
Erma F. Lane, 84

Erma Fern Lane, daughter of the late James and Jennie (Redd) Hale, was born Aug. 19, 1923.
She left this world on June 28, 2008 at 10:15, following a long illness, at the age of 84.
On April 14, 1942, she married her soul mate, the late Martin B. Lane. To this union, seven children were born.
She enjoyed canning every summer, cooking and taking care of all her family. Erma was a Christian and attended the Springcreek Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Jennie Hale; her loving husband, Martin B. Lane; one son, Walter Lane; four brothers Clifford, Jack, Jimmy, and Elgie Hale; and two sisters, Tressie and Edna; along with one grandson, Ronald Lee Gonzales, and one great-grandson, Kurtis Wayne Gonzales.
She is survived by four sons Lester Lane, Lindell "Toby" Lane, Martin Jr. Lane all of Ava, and Joel Lane and wife Kathy, of Sparta; two daughters, Karen Lane, of Ava, and Sharon and Allen Brunson, of Commerce City, Colo.; 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carl Hale, of Salem, and Orland Hale, of Bolivar; four sisters, Gene Schmidt, of Polk, Willa, of California, and Dorothy and Elma, both of Bolivar; two special grandchildren who took care of her, Debbie and Michelle Lane; special nurses that were like family, Rita Owens and Brenda Bunch; and two special nephews, Bill Dugan and Jim Manning, along with Hospice family, and the Pyramid family, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be today (Thursday July 3) at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Fannon Cemetery.
Visitation was held at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 2, from 6 to 7 p.m. The family requests memorials to Community Hospice of Mtn. Grove.
