Roland Srader, 61 years, passed to his Heavenly home on Feb. 9, 2015 at his home in Ava with his wife, Nancy, by his side.
Roland was born May 23, 1953 in Albuquerque, N.M., to Floyd and Dorothy (Jones) Srader. He graduated high school from Oklahoma City, Okla.
He served his country and was a U. S. Air Force veteran.
Roland was a resident of the Ava area for 17 years moving from Camp Verde, Ariz. Roland was a copy machine repairman and owner and operator, with his wife, Nancy of Independent Copy Center on the Ava square.
Roland met Nancy Hawk at Advanced Copy Systems in Phoenix in 1981, and they left together in 1986 to start Independent Copier Service in Camp Verde.
Then, on May 27, 1989 Roland and Nancy were united in marriage in Camp Verde.
Roland was a Christian. He was active in the community and had served on the Ava Area Chamber of Commerce Board. He enjoyed gardening, but found the Missouri rocks a challenge. His big garden turned into a smaller garden every year. Roland loved watching TV at home in his recliner. While at work on his lunch break, he enjoyed playing video poker. Roland and Nancy were always a team, working together and being together every step of the way.
Roland was preceded in death by parents and two brothers, Robert and Kenneth.
Roland is survived by his wife, Nancy Hawk, Ava, Mo.; one brother, Tom Srader and wife, RoseAnn, of Minnesota; one sister, DeNelda Burke, of Texas; uncle and aunt, Al and Melva Jones, Oklahoma City, Okla.; nephews, nieces and a host of extended family and friends.
A celebration of Roland’s life will be Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, Mo.
Officiating will be Pastor "Butch” McCleary and Pastor Robert Sorensen.
Memorials may be made to the family as a love offering.
Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.
Fred E. Perry
Fred Ernest Perry, 87 years, 1 month, passed away on Feb. 11, 2015 at his home with his wife, Leota, and daughter, Laura, by his side.
Fred was born Jan. 11, 1928 in Turin, Iowa to Fred Earl and Ella Ellen (Hyatt) Perry.
Fred was retired from working at Emerson Electric for several years. Fred was a resident of the Ava community since 1979, moving from Iowa. He was an Army veteran and served in WWII.
On June 2, 1957, Fred and Leota Rae Goochey were united in marriage in Sabetha, Kan., and to this union, four children were born.
He enjoyed being outside and planting his flowers. He also loved his white long haired cats and his Chihuahua dogs.
Fred was a Christian and a member of the Harvest Project Revival Center in Mansfield, Mo.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Verna Jean; four sisters and two brothers.
Fred is survived by his wife, Leota Perry, Ava, Mo.; seven children, Laura Downey and husband, Mike, Ava, Mo., Kevin Perry and wife, Candace, Iowa, Norman Perry, Kansas City, Mo., Marilyn Brown, Washington, Velma Young, Oregon, Raymond Perry and Jerry Brown; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Jerry, Josh, Vincent, Angel, Alex, Crystal, Tiffany and Cody; 13 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial will be scheduled at a later date and time.
Cremation services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.
Arley O. Page
Arley Owen Page was born on April 20, 1923 in Brushy Knob, Mo., to Richard and Mable (Bordner) Page.
He grew up in Brushy Knob and lived in Oregon for the remainder of his life.
He served as a sharpshooter in the Army during the World War II earning a Purple Heart fighting with the Blue Devils 88th Infantry Division and spent 20 months in the Italian Theatre.
One of Arley’s most cherished memories is marching through Rome with Italians throwing confetti from their window as American soldiers marched through.
After the war, he lived in Portland, Ore., and worked for Union Pacific Railroad as a section foreman, later moving to Biggs Junction Railroad Section and retiring in Wasco, Ore. Arley enjoyed hunting, camping and fishing.
He is survived by his brother, Tom Page, of Ava, Mo.; and wife of 69 years, Kathryn Nadine. They had four children: Richard and his wife Sandra Kay, Edwin and his wife Diane, Aria and her husband Ken Melzer and Kathy Broadwater; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 28, at Moro Cemetery at 12 p.m.

Verna A. LeeVey
Verna A. LeeVey, 73, of Aledo, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at Unity Point Health in Rock Island.
She was born April 12, 1941 in Crossroads, Mo., to Bernie and Goldie Lawson Hurst.
Verna graduated from Bradleyville High School in 1959.
She married Leslie LeeVey in 1979. He preceded her in death in 1990.
Verna was employed at Trinity West in Rock Island as an outpatient registration clerk for 31 years.
She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, knitting, bird watching and flowers.
Survivors include her brother, J.L. Hurst of Selah, Wash.; two sisters, Treva (Basil) Easter of Matherville, Ill., and Eva (Brien) Brock, of Moline, Ill.; three nieces and five nephews.
Her parents, husband and one brother, Lenard Hurst, preceded her in death.
Graveside services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Farlow Grove Cemetery in Matherville, Ill.
Visitation was 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society.
Judy Mae Lakey
Judy Mae Lakey, 67 years, 5 months, and 5 days old, passed to her Heavenly home from a short battle with cancer on Feb. 13, 2015, at her home with her family by her side.
Judy was born Sept. 8, 1947 in Springfield, Mo., to Roeroy (Roy) and Fern (Davis) Wood.
Judy and Elwood Lakey were united in marriage on Sept. 2, 1966 at Ava, Mo. To this union, two children were born.
Judy was a Christian and a member of the Seymour Church of the Nazarene.
Judy loved sewing and was an accomplished seamstress, she loved cooking and spending time and taking care of her family.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Elwood, of the home; son, Gary Lakey, and wife, Tammy, Ava, Mo.; daughter, Melinda Souder and husband, James "Goob”, Seymour, Mo.; grandchildren: Payton and Chris Odehnal, Josh, Megan, and Jacob Lakey, Brittinie Lakey, Kymberlee, and Haylee Souder; a brother, Jerry Wood and wife, Sharon; a sister, Teresa Stillings, and husband, Leroy, all of Ava; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Judy were Monday, Feb. 16, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with burial in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday from 1 p.m. to service time in the funeral home.
Officiating were Pastor Mark Terrill and the Rev. Chris Carver.
Memorials may be made to the family as a love offering.
Jerry Eldon Engle
Jerry Eldon Engle, 70 years, passed away on April 8, 2015, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo., with family and friends by his side.
Jerry was born Sept. 12, 1944 in Douglas County, Mo., to James Eldon and Ruth Lee (Warren) Engle.
Jerry attended Ava High School.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of Douglas County.
He was retired mechanic and welder. Jerry was a Vietnam Navy veteran and had received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars (VFW) and of the Eagles Lodge of Ava. Jerry enjoyed his work and loved visiting with his family and friends under his willow tree!
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James Eldon and Ruth, sisters and brothers.
He is survived by four children, Theresa Bridgmon and husband, Brian, Lisa Adkins, Lyle Engle all of Ava, Mo., and Sara and husband, Woody Carman, Montana; six grandsons; two great-grandsons; one brother, James Lyle Rowe, Ava, Mo.; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Jerry were Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with full military honors by VFW and Troy Herd American Legion Post 112.
Officiating were Pastor Andy Teal and Pastor Dennis Shumate.
Celebration of life immediately following service at The Eagles Lodge #3748.

Darren Doies Dooms
Darren Doies Dooms, 51 years, passed away on April 7, 2015 at his home in Dora.
Darren was born Aug. 26, 1963 in Rawlins, Wyo., to Delmar Doies and Sandra Kay (Hartley) Dooms.
Darren was preceded in death by two infant granddaughters.
Darren is survived by two daughters, Kecia Dooms, Omaha, Neb., and Danielle Dooms, Dora, Mo.; his father, Delmar Dooms, Dora, Mo.; his mother, Sandra Kay Dooms, Davenport, Iowa; one grandson, Grayson Werner, Omaha, Neb.; five siblings, Dan (Rose) Ashby, Davenport, Iowa, Don (Rachel) Dooms, Mtn. Grove, Mo., Doug Dooms, Dora, Mo., Rebekah (Jennifer) Hillman, Colona, Ill., and Angela Willingham, Davenport, Iowa; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Cremation services for Darren are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.
Louise Naugle
Louise Naugle, 74, formerly of the Ava, departed this life Feb. 12, 2015 at her residence near Lebanon Mo., with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 23. 1940, in Ava, Mo.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
