Viola Irene Fern Dacy, the daughter of A.C. Jenkins and Myrtle (Lethco) Jenkins, was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Douglas County, and departed this life June 23, 2005, at the age of 83.
Viola was a resident of the Fair Play area for the past 20 years, moving from Kansas. Viola was raised in the Douglas County community.
In June of 1962, Viola and Donald Joseph Dacy were united in marriage in Miami, Okla.
Viola was employed in real estate sales for 20 years in the Kansas City area. She liked her pets and loved being outdoors and working with her husband, Don, on the farm.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sister and three brother, Thetis, Albert and Lester Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, of the home, Fair Play; one son, Maurice “Junior” Herrell Jr., Aurora, Mo.; three grandchildren, Melanie, Michelle and Cody; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 27, in the Goodhope Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating.
Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
William Latham Page, Sr.

Funeral services for William L. Page, Sr., of Aurora, Ill., and Norwood, Mo., will be held Saturday, July 2, at 10 a.m., in the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Chapel, Mtn. Grove, with the Revs. Wayne Russell and Danny Douglas officiating.
Burial will be in the Brushyknob Cemetery with full military honors.
Services are under the direction of Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 1, from 7 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
Donald M. Turner, 76

Donald M. Turner, of Peoria Heights, Ill., passed away at 5:58 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Manor Care Health Services in Peoria.
Born Oct. 8, 1928 in Squires, to Homer and Mary (Spurlock) Turner, he married Wanda J. Miller in Mountain Home, Ark. on June 6, 1949. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lori A. Turner of Peoria, Ill., and Lisa (Steven) Rager, of Tremont, Ill.; four grandchildren; one brother, Ed Turner of Squires; five sisters, Charlene (Delbert) Tellor of East Peoria, Ill., Annette Clayton, Squires, Mary Lou (Bill) Hodges, Ava, Josie (Jerry) Adamson, Mansfield, and Sandra (Terry) Clopper, of Farmington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Donald worked as an engine inspector for the Caterpillar Tractor Company at the Mossville Plant, retiring in July of 1991 after 40 years of service.
He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Mossville, Ill.
Cremation has been accorded.
Memorial services were at 6 p.m. Friday, June 24, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Groveland, Ill.
Schmidt-Haller Burial and Cremation Services in East Peoria, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.
Sidney O. Newton, 91

Sidney O. Newton, 91, of Boise died Monday, June 20, 2005, at home. A private burial service was held Thursday, June 23, at Dry Creek Cemetery.
He was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Eastview, Mo. to parents, Daniel and Hattie Newton.
Sidney attended high school in Ava, and college in Springfield. For ten years he taught grades one through eight in the one-room rural schools in Douglas County, Mo.
On June 1, 1937, in Ozark, Mo. he married Myrtle Marie Farris, the most beautiful girl he has ever known. That marriage lasted 68 years.
They moved to Vale, Oreg. for three years, then to Homedale, Idaho, where Sid was manager of the Morfitt Store for ten years. He was very active in community affairs, serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce, president of Homedale Kiwanis Club, and lieutenant governor in the Utah-Idaho Kiwanis.
Ten years later Sid, Myrtle, son Joe and daughter Karla moved to Boise, where he was co-owner of Boise Avenue Market. Eleven years later Sid and Myrtle moved to Sunnymead, Calif., where they owned the Sunnymead Variety Store, then back to Boise, where he worked for Drake Plumbing Co. until his retirement at age 69. Sid enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, hiking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; son, Joe A. Newton; granddaughter, Karin Yoder; great-granddaughters, Amanda and Emily Yoder; and sisters, Jewell Johnson and Reba Ross; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karla; two brothers, Carl and Luna; and a grandson, David A. Newton.
Mary Belle Deeds, 79

Mary Belle Deeds, daughter of Lonnie Kester and Susan Kate Pratt Kester, was born on May 16, 1926, in Smallett, Mo., and passed away on June 21, 2005, in Rocky Ridge Manor in Mansfield, at the age of 79 years.
Mary Belle was a lifelong resident of the Ava community.
On Dec. 21, 1954, Mary Belle and Carl Von Deeds were united in marriage in Wasola, Mo., and to this union, two daughters were born.
Mary Belle was a teacher and had taught for the Ava School system for 43 years.
She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Ava and the Douglas County Retired Teachers Assoc. She volunteered on the Meals on Wheels program. Mary Belle loved gardening, quilting, cooking and always helping those in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lowell Kester; her husband, Carl, in 1991; and her daughter, Carla Branstetter, on April 14, 2005.
Her survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Lonna and Vince Akers, Ava; a son-in-law, Rick Branstetter, Springfield; three grandchildren, Alyssa Akers, Ava, and Matthew and Katelyn Branstetter, Springfield; one sister, Naomi McGill, Tulsa, Okla.; and many relatives and friends.
Services are Thursday, June 23, at 10 a.m., in Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with Pastors Bob Sorensen and Dale Adams officiating. Interment will be in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation was Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Gideons or Community Hospice. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Olive Lucretia Boorman, 85

Olive Lucretia Boorman, the daughter of Victor Hunt and Eva Lowe, was born Aug. 25, 1919, in London, England, and departed this life July 7, 2005 at the age of 85.
On July 26, 1947, Olive and Edward George Boorman were united in marriage in Southend-On-Sea, England.
Olive was a resident of Ava for the past three years, moving here from Ozark, Missouri. Olive was employed as an electrical worker in London and as a waitress in the U.S. She enjoyed knitting, shopping, traveling and being with her family.
Olive was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Anthony Barnes, a son-in-law, Paul "Skeet" Barnes, and a sister, Connie Anderson.
Olive is survived by her husband, Edward, of the home, Ava; three daughters, Barbara Barnes, Redondo Beach, Calif., Lorraine Guengerich and husband, Terry, Ava, and Michele Hyduke and her husband, Steve, Collierville, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Jeff, David and Mike Barnes, Crystal Collom, Chelsea Maggard, and Christopher Raffles; nine great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, in Mt. Olive Cemetery with the Rev. Lee Maggard officiating.
Cremation and graveside service were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Memorials can be made to the Community Hospice or Mt. Olive Cemetery in c/o Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
Margaret L. Gastineau, 84

Margaret Lois Gastineau, the daughter of Steve McHolland and Nellie Haskins McHolland, was born June 14, 1921, in Ava, and passed away on July 6, 2005, in Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava, at the age of 84.
Margaret was a lifelong resident of Ava.
On June 30, 1946, Margaret and Richard Lee “Dick” Gastineau were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union, two children were born.
Margaret and her husband, Dick, owned and operated the Gastineau Oil Co. After retiring from the station, Dick and Margaret pulled their travel trailer around the country, wintering in Florida. In later years, Margaret enjoyed gardening, quilting and sewing.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Forrest McHolland, and her husband, Richard.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Karen Chronister and husband, Buddy, Ava; one son, Lyle Gastineau, of Kentucky; two grandsons, Scott Gastineau and Steven Giovanni and wife, Valerie; one great-grandchild, Antonio; and other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, in the Ava Cemetery with the Revs. John Haskins and Oren Alcorn officiating.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Services and burial were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Richard Miles Carpenter, 62

Richard Miles Carpenter, son of Miles Franklin and Janie Evelyn Heckendorn Carpenter, was born Aug. 24, 1942, in Seymour, Mo.
He departed this life Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Glenwood Healthcare, in Seymour, at the age of 62 years.
His father preceded him in death in 1980.
Richard is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dwayne and Beth Carpenter, Conway, Mo., and Greg and Cindy Carpenter, of Marshfield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Sara Carpenter and Brian Smith, both of Conway, and Kyle Carpenter, of Marshfield; his mother, Janie Carpenter, Seymour; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Patti Carpenter, Strafford, Lowell and Linda Carpenter, and Gary and Barsha Carpenter, all of Marshfield; a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Jack Mingus, Seymour; a number of nieces and nephews, Jeff Mingus, Julie Ervin, Sheila Replogle, Shannon Morefeld, Abby Biggers, Ashley Carpenter, Josh Davis and Justin Davis; two aunts, Clarice Henderson, Arkansas City, Kans., and Margaret Heckendorn, of Kansas City; three uncles, Albert Carpenter, and his wife, Ollie, of Fulton, Rev. Gordon Heckendorn, and his wife, Sue, of Seymour, and Cyrus Heckendorn, and his wife, Sybil, of Ava; a special friend, Deena Hilburn, Marshfield; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Seymour community and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1960. He served his country faithfully in the United States Marine Corps from Feb. of 1961 until May of 1964. After being honorably discharged from the Marines, he made his home in Wichita, Kans., where he worked for Boeing Aircraft for about two years. He then returned to Southwest Missouri, and the Seymour area.
Richard made his profession of faith and was saved on Oct. 11, 1958, near Seymour, and was baptized in Nov. of 1958.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and gardening. He also loved working on lawn mowers and buying, trading and selling them. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Richard was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends.
Services were held Sunday, July 10, at 2:30 p.m. in the Seymour First Baptist Church with Reverends Gordon Heckendorn and Mitchell Wright officiating.
Burial with full military honors by Webster County Veterans Memorial Association were in Seymour Masonic Cemetery under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.

Claire Rifenberg Ehrhardt, 79

Claire Rifenberg Ehrhardt departed this life on July 10, 2005, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
She was born in Portland, Oregon, on Aug. 5, 1925, to Milo and Frances Cunningham Rifenberg, and was raised in Michigan, where she graduated from Cleary Business College.
On June 20, 1946, she and Rosco Ehrhardt were married at Ypsilanti, Michigan.
They moved to the farm near Squires in 1954.
Mrs. Ehrhardt was a member of the Ava United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, dedicated to community volunteer work.
Mr. Ehrhardt survives; as do two sons, Bill and Phyllis Ehrhardt, of Squires, and Ron Ehrhardt, of Ava; two daughters, Joyce and Larry Visnick, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Judy and Randy Wray, of Thornfield; also surviving are three grandchildren, Kathy Osiel, of Seymour, Anne Visnick, of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Shay Ehrhardt, of Kennett, Mo.; one great-grandchild, Cody Osiel, of Seymour; a brother, Milo Rifenberg, of Frankford, West Virginia; a sister, Rita Rifenberg, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; other relatives and many, many friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, at the Ava United Methodist Church, under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ava, with Rev. Greg Dowler officiating.
Burial followed in the Ava Cemetery.

Joan McMaster, 63

Joan McMaster entered into the arms of her heavenly Father on June 29, 2005.
She was born Sept. 30, 1941, in Rippee, Mo., to Rev. Grant and Della Strong Ward.
On April 16, 1960, she and Doyle Lee McMaster, of Wynn, Ark., were united in marriage and to this union, three children were born.
Doyle was in the U. S. Air Force. They were stationed at several bases here in the U. S. and overseas. She made a loving home wherever they were. Upon retirement, they chose Alamogardo, New Mexico.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and three infant sisters.
Joan is survived by her husband, Doyle (Mac), of the home; two sons, Jeffrey McMaster, and wife, Cindy, of Alamogardo, New Mexico, Dennis McMaster, of Tularosa, New Mexico; a daughter, Pamela Lee, and husband, Randy, of Peoria, Ariz.; one sister, Shirley McCleskey, of Alamogardo, New Mexico; three brothers, Lawrence Ward, of Ava, Roy James Ward, and Starlett Ray Ward, both of Madisonville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Amber Lee, Rowdy Lee, Sarah McMaster; several nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 2, at the Alamogardo Funeral Home with Rev. John C. Willard officiating.
Interment was in Monte Vista Cemetery, Alamogardo, New Mexico.
