Mary Catherine Perry, 54, Springfield, was born Feb. 18, 1951, and departed this life June 30, 2005, in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Perry, and stepfather, Bill Schreiner.
Mary is survived by her mother, Betty Schreiner, of Springfield; one sister, Pam Langford and husband, Lyn, of Twin Falls, Idaho; two brothers, John Perry and wife, Pam, Ava, and Trevor Perry and wife, Debbie, of Montgomery, Ala.; and 16 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, in First Baptist Church, Marionville, with the Rev. Lee Miller officiating.
Interment was in Marionville IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Day Funeral Home of Marshfield.
Arthur Warren Lumsden, 75

Arthur Warren Lumsden, the son of Arthur Lumsden and Goldie (Drury) Lumsden, was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Kelso, Wash., and departed this life June 29, 2005, at the age of 75.
Arthur was a resident of the Wasola area for the past three years. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He raised llamas and miniature donkeys.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.
He is survived by three sons, Dr. Steven Lumsden and wife, Kristine, Portland, Ore., Jeff Lumsden, of Washington; two daughters, Cindy McKinzie and husband, George, Wenatchee, Wash., Rhonda Short and husband, Jeff, Charlotte, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Cremation service is under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Burket Robert Ray Whitaker, Infant

Burket Robert Ray Whitaker, 4-months, passed away at 4:55 p.m., July 2, 2005, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
He was born Feb. 16, 2005, at Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, to Holly Whitaker, of Squires.
Surviving in addition to his mother are grandparents, Ray and Janis Whitaker, Squires, an uncle and aunt, Robert and Leah Whitaker, Kansas City; a cousin, Justin Whitaker, Kansas City; and a special friend, Tina Frost.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Oak Grove General Baptist Church, Wasola, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home of Gainesville.

James E. “Jim” Hobson, 76

James Hobson was born March 31, 1929, the son of James Hobson and Necia (Jones) Hobson, in Memphis, Tenn., and departed this life on June 30, 2005, in Ava, at the age of 76.
Jim was a resident of the Ava area since 1998, moving here from Colorado. Jim served his country with the U.S. Navy.
Jim’s passion was writing and he aspired to be a published author. He also enjoyed music and movies of all types. He was meticulous and all his hobbies showed his quest for perfection.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two sons, Christopher and Jimmy.
Jim is survived by two daughters, Debora Slabaugh and husband, Darrell, of Dallas, Texas, and Victoria Newell, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Joe Hobson, Davenport, Iowa, and Blaine Hobson, Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cremation service is under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, of Mtn. Grove.
Robert Leonard Keach, 75

Robert Leonard Keach, son of Albert Ray Keach and Aileen Collier Keach, was born on December 6, 1929 in Peoria, Ill., and passed away on July 9, 2005, in his home at the age of 75.
Robert was a resident of the Squires and Girdner community for over 20 years. He was a retired steel worker from McClouth Steel Corp. in Trenton, Mich., and was an Army veteran, having served his country in the Korean Conflict.
On June 11, 1955, Robert and Dolores Renner were united in marriage in Flat Rock, Mich.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Jeffery Earl.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores, of the home in Squires; one son, Brian Ray Keach and wife, Janet, Trenton, Mich.; one daughter, Loredda "Lori" Sue Keach-Groth and husband, Larry, Neodesha, Kan.; one grandson, David; two sisters, Carol Ann Prince, Garden City, Mich., and Lois Jean Pachey, New Boston, Mich.; his mother-in-law, Hazel Renner, Ava; and other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was held Tuesday, July 12, at 2 p.m., at the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with Charles Hannaford officiating.
Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Will H. Havens, 94

Will H. Havens the son of Ray Havens and Mary E. (Tooley) Havens was born Nov. 21, 1910 in Douglas County, and was promoted to glory on July 8, 2005 at the age of 94.
On Dec. 12, 1933, Will and Clara E. Keeler were united in marriage in Willow Springs, and to this union, four children were born. Will and Clara enjoyed 68 years together.
Will was a lifelong resident of the Ava area. He was a minister of the Gospel since 1930 and a member of the Ava General Baptist Church. Will’s motto was ‘Keep on Keeping On.’ He encouraged people with spoken words, written poems and devotions. Many people have had the privilege of having some of his poem books.
None of Will’s earthly accomplishments could compare with his desire to daily live a faithful Christian life. His family is blessed and thankful to have had his example of spiritual wisdom. They will miss him greatly but will have wonderful memories of his faithfulness and love.
Will was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, three brothers, his wife, Clara, and a grandson, Preston.
His survivors include two daughters, Ruth Evans and husband, Darold, Thornfield, Ann Dowell, Springfield; two sons, Ivan Havens, Florissant, and Bill R. Havens, and wife, Brenda, Springfield; five grandchildren, Mark and Kelly Evans, Margaret and J.L. Frazier of Thornfield, Bridgett Havens of St. Louis, Eric Havens, and Carla and Randy MacLachlan of Springfield; and nine great grandchildren, Sarah, Sam, Rebekah, Hannah, Daniel, David, Ivan, Antwan and Cameron; two brothers, Jim Havens, Lyle, Wash., and Wayne Havens, Waynesville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2005 in the Ava General Baptist Church, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating.
Interment followed in the Thornfield Cemetery.
Visitation was Sunday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.

Erma Siler, 90

Erma Siler, daughter of Will Davidson and Ethel (Smith) Davidson was born April 18, 1915 in McClurg, and departed this life July 11, 2005, at the age of 90.
Erma was a life long resident of Brown Branch.
On Sept. 25, 1937 Erma and Orville H. Siler were united in marriage at Ava.
Erma was a housewife and worked on the farm and milked with her husband, Orville. She was a member of the Caney General Baptist Church at Brown Branch. Erma loved gardening, growing flowers, her church, family and friends.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Archie and Victor Davidson, one sister, Opal (Davidson) Potter and her husband, Orville H. Siler.
Erma is survived by six nieces, three nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. today (Thursday, July 14), in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Bill Austin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 10 a.m. until service time.
Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery.
