Evelyn L. Clements, 42, of Kansas City, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 17, 2005. Evelyn was the daughter of Dorothy Cox Roby and Everett Clements.
She leaves behind her mother, Dorothy Roby, of Kansas City; a brother, Harold Clements, of Holly Hill, Florida. A sister, Reta Siders, of Orrick, Mo.
Her service was Jan. 20, at East Slope Cemetery, Riverside, Mo.

Stephen Myhre passed away January, 25, 2005, in the home of his aunt, Marilyn Brown of Squires, Missouri. Mr. Myhre is from the state of Washington.

Jonnie Allen Fletcher, 95

Jonnie Allen Fletcher, 95, Republic, passed away on Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, in Christian Health Care-Republic.
Jonnie was born on Sept. 3, 1909, to the late Thomas J. and Ellen J. (Daniels) Allen in Hammond, Mo. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, and sewing. Jonnie enjoyed working in her yard and had the great ability to grow beautiful roses.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Billy and Ernest Bartlett, and daughter, Audrey Schatz.
Survivors include grandchildren, Terri O’Reilly and husband, Scott, of Brookline Station, Lisa Sobecki and husband, Edward, of Toledo, Ohio, Becky Roberts, of Republic, Debbie Schatz, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Vickie Carlstrom and husband, Jim, of Springfield; great-grandchildren, Laurel and Emily O’Reilly, Jacob and Zane Sobecki, Mitchell Roberts and Chandler Carlstrom; and one brother, Dr. Rufus Allen, of Dallas, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) in the chapel of Thieme-Shadel-Hicks Funeral Service at Rivermonte with the Rev. Gary Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, beginning at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jonnie’s name to Christian Health Care Hospice, Republic.
Darrell Russell Todd, 62

Darrell Russell Todd, son of Russell and Lelah (Combs) Todd, was born April 16, 1942, at Bradleyville, and entered into eternal rest on Jan. 21, 2005, in Springfield, at the age of 62.
Darrell was a lifelong resident of the Bradleyville community. He served on the Bradleyville R-1 School Board for several years. He was previously employed with Hiland Dairy and Coca-Cola as a distributor. He was serving as a trustee of the Patterson Cemetery of which he took great pride. Darrell and his wife owned and operated the Beaver Creek Trucking Co.
He served as the Sunday school superintendent at Caney General Baptist Church in Brown Branch.
On May 26, 1960, Darrell and Nancy Cornett were united in marriage near Ava. To this union six children were born. They include four daughters, Belinda and husband, Randy Wyman, of Bradleyville, Carla and husband, Lester Platt, of Ava, Lisa and husband, Walter Rogers, and Gaylene and husband, Shane Whittaker, all of Bradleyville; and two sons, Thomas and wife, Michelle Todd, and Tony and wife, Cindy Todd, all of Bradleyville.
On April 27, 1996, Darrell and Susan Sanders were united in marriage and to this union, one daughter, Remanda LeeAnn, was born.
Other survivors include his mother, Lelah Todd, of Forsyth Health Care; nine grandchildren, Rachel and William Platt, Dusty and Cody Rogers, Sonya Malcolm, Emily, Ethan and Heidi Todd, and Kambria Todd; four stepchildren, Larry Joe, Timothy and Joshua Sanders, and Reanee Wolf; five step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Herd, of Ava, Martha Sue and husband, Wondy Cornett, of Houston, Texas, and Charlotte Ann Roberts, of Branson; and a host of relatives and friends.
Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Russell Todd; one brother-in-law, Billy Herd; one niece, Kimberly Bird; and one step-grandson, Justin Wyman.
Darrell enjoyed spending time with his family and church family. He especially enjoyed singing with his sisters. He was a kind and loving person always lending a helping hand to those in need.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the White River Association Building at Taneyville, with the Revs. R.E. Helsley, Bill Austin and Randy Dalton officiating. Burial was in Patterson Cemetery at Bradleyville.
Services were under the direction of Forsyth Whelchel Chapel.
Noah ‘Obed’ Clayton, 65

Noah "Obed" Clayton was born April 9, 1939, in Wasola, Mo., the son of Clifford Ralph Clayton and Elva Earnasteen (Fry) Clayton, and passed away Jan. 21, 2005, at the age of 65.
Noah was a resident of the Squires community for most of his life. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was in the Navy for 12 years. He was employed with the Kansas City Stockyards for several years. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting and visiting with friends and family. Noah was a member of the Oak Grove General Baptist Church.
Noah was preceded in death by his father, Clifford R. Clayton.
His survivors include his mother, Elva Clayton, and one brother, Louin Ray Clayton and wife, Valerie, all of Squires; one niece; four nephews; many cousins and a host of friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 24, in the Oak Grove General Baptist Church, Wasola, with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday, from 9 a.m. until service time.
Services were under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Alta Snearley, 80

Alta Snearley, the daughter of Otis Herd and Eva Mae (Vanmeter) Herd, was born Dec. 5, 1924, and departed this life Jan. 21, 2005, at the age of 80.
Alta was a resident of Oldfield for the past 20 years, moving from Ava.
Alta and Elzie Denton were united in marriage in 1946 and to this union, two children were born.
On May 3, 1952, Alta and Warren W. Snearley were united in marriage in Mtn. Home, Ark.
Mr. Snearley preceded Alta in death.
Alta was employed as a milk truck driver for 14 years. She loved camping and bluegrass festivals, watching NASCAR, the St. Louis Cardinals, quilting, reading, gardening, but most of all loved being with family and friends. Alta was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Ava.
Alta was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Troy Herd; one sister, Freda Cockrum; and one sister-in-law, Linda Herd.
Alta is survived by a son, Kenneth and wife, Janet Denton, Ozark; a daughter, Deloris and husband, Robert Hammons, Oldfield; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Leslie Herd, Marionville; one sister, Leta and husband, Bill Tabor, St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Herd, Beulah, Colo.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Howard Kenyon officiating. Interment followed in the Fannon Cemetery south of Ava. Visitation was Monday, from 1 p.m. until service time.
Jane Maxine Curtis, 91

Jane Maxine Curtis, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher and photo journalist, died Jan. 15, 2005.
Born in Oklahoma on Dec. 22, 1913, Maxine lived in Springfield and Hoxie, Ark., before moving to Willow Springs where she lived for over 60 years.
Maxine was an active member of the United Methodist Church for over 75 years, a member of the United Methodist Women, a Sun-day school teacher and a promoter of international projects benefiting those in need. She was a strong-willed individual with a deep faith and a sense of purpose for her life.
A lifelong learner and teacher, Maxine taught in one-room schools after graduating from high school and completing a year of teacher preparation.
Married to Edgar Curtis in 1938, Maxine devoted her time and energy to raising daughter, Barbara, and sons, Robert and Danny. She participated in their school activi-ties and served as den mother.
In her 50s she returned to col-lege, taking classes at SMSU-West Plains, earning credits needed to be a substitute teacher. She worked in the Willow Springs school system for several years.
Later in life she achieved a new career as photo journalist, and had articles published in the Ozark Mountaineer, Springfield News-Leader, Kansas City Star and St. Louis Post-Dispatch. She is also well-known by many for her "Jack in the Pulpit" columns in the West Plains Daily Quill.
Maxine is survived by her children, Robert Curtis and wife, Laura, and Barbara Spraker and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Tawnya Atkisson, Karey Quacken-bush, Michelle Nunamaker, Andy Curtis, David Spraker and Brent Spraker; great-grandchildren, Seth, Brianna, Curtis, Hannah and Saren Atkisson, Brady, Deidre and Mishayla Quackenbush, Dalton and Mason Nunamaker, and Tristan and Kyle Spraker.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny, and husband, Edgar; her parents, Mitch and Nora Quinn; two sisters and four brothers.
In 1999 Maxine was honored as a Gold Star Mother in recognition of the death of her son, Danny, in Korea in 1974.

Richard M. DeWitt, 41

Richard M. DeWitt, the son of Dennis M. DeWitt and Mary Woodring DeWitt, was born Aug. 29, 1963, in Hemet, Calif., and departed this life Jan. 15, 2005, at the age of 41.
Richard was a resident of Ava for the past year, moving from Gainesville. He was employed in construction before retirement due to a disability.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Dennis DeWitt.
He is survived by his mother, Mary DeWitt, Ava; a daughter, Dawn DeWitt, Gainesville; one grandson; one brother, Arthur DeWitt, Theodosia; and a sister, Christina Midcap, Las Vegas, Nev.; and a host of relatives and friends.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Mary Ella Dinwiddie, 62

Mary Ella (Garrison) Dinwiddie, 62, Springfield, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in St. John’s Hospital following a long illness.
Mary was born Sept. 28, 1942, near Dogwood, to James Edward and Eva (Gifford) Garrison. She graduated from high school at School of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Mo., in May 1960.
She was united in marriage to Leslie Dinwiddie on Aug. 5, 1962. Mary was a clerical worker, being employed much of her career at Maranatha Village. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Edward (Edd) Garrison.
Mary is survived by her mother, Eva Garrison; her loving and devoted husband, Les; four sons, Rex Dinwiddie, David Dinwiddie and his wife, Dhana, Hillsboro, Texas, Steve Dinwiddie and his wife, Michelle, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Scott Dinwiddie, Sparta; one daughter, Julie Hogue and her husband, Gene, Buffalo; six grandchildren, Luke, Shannon, Cody and Jules Dinwiddie, Jared and Colton Hogue; three sisters, Joyce Duke, Ozark, Janice Stewart and husband, Steve, Springfield, and Edna Lawson, Springfield; one brother, J.R. Garrison and his wife, Pam, Ava; and one special aunt, Clarice Williams, Springfield, who was raised in her home as a sister; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in Greenlawn South Funeral Home, Springfield, with the Rev. Bud Everett officiating. Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
Zella Atteberry Renegar, 95

Zella Grace Kester was born Dec. 11, 1909, at Smallett, Mo., the daughter of N.V. "Bird" and Lilly (Turner) Kester.
Funeral services were held in Winder, Ga., for former Ava resident Zella Atteberry Renegar.
Zella Grace Kester was born Dec. 11, 1909, at Smallett, Mo., the daughter of N.V. "Bird" and Lilly (Turner) Kester. She graduated from Ava High School in 1927 and was a member of the Ava Methodist Church and a charter member of Ava Chapter #47 Order of Eastern Star. She taught at Hunter School.
After surviving the polio epidemic of 1949, she completed her college education at SMS and spent her teaching career in the Springfield public schools system, teaching many years at Pepperdine.
She was married to Oral Atteberry in 1936 and to this union, one daughter, Patricia Anne Atteberry, was born. Mr. Atteberry preceded her in death in 1946 and she was later married to Frank Isbell, then Lester Renegar. After her retirement she and Mr. Renegar moved to his childhood home in Birch Tree, Mo., where she lived until his death. She then made her home with her daughter in Winder, Ga., where she died Jan. 16, 2005.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one stepson, Edward Atteberry, one step-granddaughter, Catherine Atteberry, her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudy and Thelma Kester and Virgil and Charlene Kester.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne and Jim Rutledge and their daughter, Kellie Anne and Clay Ouzts and their children, Brooks, Forbes, Addison and Graham, of Winder, Ga.; a stepson, John F. and Modeane Atteberry, of Branson, their daughter Cindy Monaghan and her daughters, Jessica and Sarah, of Tulsa, Okla.; nephews and a niece, Gary Kester and Marilyn, and Rod Alms, of Ava.
Services were conducted Jan. 18, by Smith Funeral Home with burial in Barrow Memorial Garden, in Winder, Ga.
