Katelyn Shae Garner, daughter of Jamie Danielle Garner, was born Sept. 20, 2005, and passed away Oct. 7, 2005, in Springfield at the age of 18 days.
She is survived by her parents, Robert Lee Hayes and Jamie Danielle Garner, both of Lebanon; her grandparents, Carmen and Mike Jones, of Lebanon, and Dan and Janice Garner, of Squires; great-grandparents, Joe and Doris Garner, Ava; several aunts and uncles; a special aunt, Rayonna Garner; and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m., at Lebanon.
James B. Fish, 51

James Bartlett Fish was born July 24, 1954, at the Stoll Hospital in West Plains, to Roe and Mabel Osborn Fish, the youngest of their four children. At the time of his death Jim was 51 years old.
In September 1980, he was married to Joanna Romans and is survived by their two sons, James Grant Fish of West Plains, and David Bartlett Fish of Springfield.
He is also survived by his ex-wife, Joanna of Springfield, his long-time companion Cindy Beach Brown, his sister Joyce Lakey, a sister and brother-in-law Helen and Bill Cooper, all of Mountain Grove, a sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Duane Collins of Vanzant, and many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other friends and relatives.
Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother, his stepfather and a half brother.
Jim grew up at Twin Bridges, and attended Dora elementary and high schools, graduating with the class of 1972. He never forgot his classmates and often spoke of the good times they had shared.
He loved to deer hunt with the old gang that used to gather and hunt every deer season at Vanzant.
He was a truck driver most of his adult life and was an instructor for a time. He continued to drive until he became disabled from a back injury several years ago.
In the last few months, Jim began to have more health problems. He was fortunate to find a caring physician who was trying to move Jim into position for a liver transplant. Jim made trips to Columbia, and to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis in pursuit of this. However, new complications developed and Jim found himself in St. John's Hospital with some decisions to make. After a very frank talk with his doctor, Jim made his own decision to let go of the pain and suffering and leave the final decisions up to God.
Jim passed away at 5:20 p.m. on Friday Oct. 7, 2005.
Georgia Lee Banks Green, 73

Georgia Lee Banks Green, 73, formerly of Yakima, Wash., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at the Lynnwood Manor Health Care Center in Lynnwood, Wash.
She was born in Rome, Mo., to Glenn and Edith (Mendel) Banks. Mrs. Green had retired as a medical assistant at the University of Washington.
She is survived by two sons, Gregory Potter, of San Francisco, Calif., and Ralph Vasseur, of Lake Forest Park, Wash.
Family gathering services were held Friday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.
Services were under the direction of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, Yakima, Wash.
Johnny L. Pruett, 87

MSGT. (Ret.) Johnny L. Pruett was called home to be with the Lord at 5:45 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, in Oak Manor Nursing Facility in Columbus, Ga.
Johnny, the eldest of nine children, was born on June 21, 1918, in the Dogwood community in Douglas County, the son of Alvah L. and Violet Mae Stafford Pruett. Upon the death of his mother when he was 19 years of age, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps to help with the expense of raising his younger brothers and sisters.
In February 1941, he entered the United States Army where he served his country for the next 30 years.
Johnny learned the art of cooking while in the CCC and continued this in his Army career, first as a cook, then a mess sergeant, then as a master sergeant, taking over as supervisor of battalion mess halls. He received many awards for outstanding service during his career. He served in many Army posts throughout the United States as well as serving in France, Germany and Korea.
In September 1945, he moved to Fort Benning, Ga., and there he met Evelyn Carden, the love of his life, and on April 11, 1947, they were united in marriage in Columbus, Ga., and established their home there. They were privileged to have shared 58 years together.
Upon his retirement in February 1971, they moved to their farm in Harris County, Ga., where he enjoyed raising a garden and giving away his vegetables. He also enjoyed his cattle while able to tend them.
In 1972, Johnny accepted the Lord into his life and became a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon for 32 years. He loved the Lord and served him every day.
Johnny was a member of the Imperial Council of the Ancient Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, the Al Sihah Temple, Macon, Ga. He was also a Mason since September 1947 and in 1957, became a Master Mason, 33rd Scottish Rite. He was a member of Kimbrough Masonic Lodge #118 of Cataula, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant brother, Paul, and one sister, Mary Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of the home; three brothers, David Pruett, Springfield, Bill Pruett and his wife, Edna, Nixa, and Aaron Pruett and his wife, Bonnie, Seymour; three sisters, Alice McCullough, of Kalispell, Mont., Nadine Barker and Goldie Bryant, both of Seymour; one sister-in-law, Gladys Fulford, Columbus, Ga.; eight nephews; 14 nieces; several great-nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services were held in Parkhill Cemetery with the Rev. Mickey Adams officiating. Burial with full military honors followed.
Ruby Delena Philpott, 93

Ruby Delena Philpott, the daughter of Decater Burleson and Ida (Delbeck) Burleson, was born July 16, 1912, and departed this life Sept. 30, 2005, at the age of 93 years.
Ruby was a lifelong resident of the Seymour area. Feb. 10, 1931, Ruby and James Ernest Philpott were united in marriage in Ava, and to this union, a son was born.
Ruby was a housewife and a member of the Pentecostal Church. She was converted in 1935, in a little church at Dogwood, Mo.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; three brothers; and her husband, James.
Ruby is survived by one son, Jack Philpott, Rogersville; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; one sister, Verda Hartley, Wichita, Kans.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Services were Monday, Oct. 3, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating.
Interment followed in the Denney Cemetery.
Harley Lee Sexton, 87

Harley Lee Sexton, 87, of Pittsburg, Kans., died at 5:25 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, Kans.
Harley was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Ava, to William and Cora (Lee) Sexton. Harley's mother died when he was only three months old. He was cared for by his grandparents Lee for the first few years.
He attended school in Ava and also worked at several jobs in Ava, including the barrel factory and the stave mill.
While living in Ava he belonged to the First General Baptist Church.
In 1946, at Ava, he was united in marriage to Vivian Fletcher. To this union two daughters were born, Peggy Lee and baby Lucille Sexton. Both Vivian and baby Lucille died a few hours apart the same day in 1948.
Harley served his country in the United States Army during WW II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
He started to work at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kans., and worked for 30 years.
He then went to Ventureline in Parsons, Kans. and later went to Vickers Machine Shop in Joplin as a machinist.
He decided to open his own garage on West 4th Street known as H&L; Garage. He was the owner and operator there until his retirement in 1982.
On May 17, 1970, he married Helen (Clark) Rhodes, in Pittsburg, Kans. She survives of the home.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Sexton; sisters, Dell Gunter, Nell Foster, Lucille Johnson and Grace Nutter; numerous half sisters and half brothers; nieces and nephews.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Peggy Lee Whitcher, of Dallas, Texas; step-daughter, Sherri Stenseng, of El Dorado, Kans.; and step-son, Gary Rhodes, of Ft. Scott, Kans.; half sister, Sara Cordelia Martin, of Galveston, Texas; along with two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Graveside services and burial were held Sat., Oct. 1, at Bourbon County Memory Gardens, in Ft. Scott, Kans., with Pastor Don Alexander officiating.
Flag presentation was given by the VFW Post #1165, Olsen Fairy Burkhart of Ft. Scott, Kans.
Arrangements and services were under the direction of Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, Kans.
Matthew Holt Abraham, 9

Matthew Holt Abraham, the son of John and Melinda Abraham, was born on April 22, 1996, in Mtn. Home, Ark. He passed away on Sept. 28, 2005, in Springfield, at the age of 9 years.
Matt resided in Gainesville with his parents and sister, Alyssa. Matt attended school in Gainesville where he was in the fourth grade. He was an active boy and was particularly fond of baseball. He participated in the Gainesville Lions Club Summer Baseball Program every summer. He also enjoyed playing basketball in the Gainesville Elementary Popcorn League. He was also in the Special Choir and the Cub Scouts.
He attended church at the Church of Christ in Gainesville, where he took part in the youth activities.
Matt is survived by his parents, John and Melinda; and his sister, Alyssa, of the home in Gainesville; grandparents, Bob and Kay Young, Gainesville, Winston and Carolyn Abraham, Wichita, Kans., Charlie Hannaford, Ava; great-grandparents, Edna Hannaford, Gainesville, Don and Dorcas Rackley, Gainesville; Aunt Angie and husband, Brian Calvert and son, Gage; Aunt Hope and husband, Corey Hillhouse and daughter, Lauren; Aunt Jenny Parret and children, Jake and Julie. Matt is also survived by many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Matt will also be missed by all of the friends that he has touched in so many ways.
Preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Albert Holt Hannaford.
Services were conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Gainesville.
Mary N. Gibson, 75

Mary Norma Gellenbeck Mitchell Gibson was born Jan. 30, 1930, in Lafayette, Ind., and went to her eternal rest on Oct. 3, 2005, at the age of 75.
On Feb. 15, 1948, she was married to Joseph Watson Mitchell. Five children were born to this union, three sons and two daughters. Joe went to his eternal rest on May 2, 1972.
On Dec. 30, 1976, Mary was married to Ezra D. Gibson. Mary was a devoted mother, wife and successful businesswoman. The first 12 years of her marriage, she spent at home raising her five children.
In 1960, she started work for Gibson Homes in Springfield, eventually becoming president of Rosewood Homes, Inc., her own land development and home building business, which she ran with her five children. After moving to the Mansfield area in 1986, she opened Ability Realty in 1992, which she ran with her two daughters until 1997.
At the time of her death, she was managing partner of Rosewood Enterprises, and was in the process of developing a subdivision in Ava.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Harry Gellenbeck; her first husband, Joe Mitchell; her second husband, Ezra D. Gibson; two stepsons, Henry and Larry Gibson; one stepdaughter, Dorothy Porter; one brother, Harry Gellenbeck; one nephew and one step-grandson.
She is survived by three sons, David, Kevin and Noel Mitchell, and two daughters, Mary Jo and Denise Mitchell; all of the home; her sister, Gladys Nezat and husband, Malvin, of Houston, Texas; her stepmother, Mae Gellenbeck, of Seymour; one half brother, Ron Gellenbeck, Cloverdale, Ind.; and one half sister, Kathy Lucky, of Marion, Ind; 10 step-grandchildren; 13 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Mansfield.
The funeral will be Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m., with visitation Friday, Oct. 7, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m.
Harvie Graham, 86

Harvie L. Graham, son of Richard (Chiggar Bill) Graham and Rutha (Welch) Graham, was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Ozark County, Missouri and departed this life Oct. 12, 2005 at the age of 86.
Harvie was a life long resident of the Ava area.
He and Annabelle Sherrill were united in marriage at Girdner, on Nov. 19, 1938. Harvie and Annabelle were blessed with three daughters.
Harvie was a farmer, a member of the Noble Church, and an avid hunter.
Harvie was preceded in death by his wife, Annabelle; his parents; one sister, Thelma; one brother, Doil; one daughter, Glenda; one grandson, Odas Kresse Jr.; and a son-in-law, Larry Parker.
His survivors include two daughters, Jewell and husband, Bill Hogan of Lowell, Ark., and Zilla Parker, of Ava; a sister, Glenda Grisham; four grandchildren, Kim Johnson and husband Kent, Mark Hogan, Tami Jenkins and husband Greg, and Jaudawn Janson and husband, Karl; eight great-grandchildren with another expected in December; two special friends he considered daughters, Georgia Bishop and Betty Harmon, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Marvin Graham and Donald Potter officiating.
Interment followed in the Hilo Cemetery.
Visitation was held Friday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Hilo Cemetery.
Clayburn Leroy "Mike" Dye, 71

Mike Dye, the son of Leslie Turner Dye and Ora Mae (Knight) Dye, was born Feb. 7, 1934, in Red Oak, Okla., and departed this life Oct. 13, 2005, at the age of 71.
Mike was a resident of Brushy Knob for the past 38 years moving here from Oklahoma. He was employed at Spalding for several years and was a beef farmer. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing and raising coon dogs.
Mike and Dorothy Brown were united in marriage on Nov. 12, 1954, in Bakersfield, Calif. They were blessed with eight children.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and one daughter, Sarah Lynne.
His survivors include his wife, Dorothy of the home, Brushy Knob; three sons, Tom Dye, Springfield, Randy Dye, Sheridan, Ark., and Leslie Dye and Diane, Nixa; four daughters, Shirley Dye, Brushy Knob, Beverly Henson and Gary, Cape Hatteras, N.C., Betty Dye and Susie Cook and Lonnie all of Brushy Knob; eight grandchildren; three brothers, L.T. Dye and Audrey of Arizona, Jim and Alma Dye of California, and Darrell and Gabby Dye of Kansas; one sister, Dorothy and Robert Baker, of California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17 in the Brushy Knob Cemetery with the Rev Oscar Cunningham officiating.
Visitation was held Sunday in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, which was in charge of arrangements and services.
Memorials may be to the Gideons International or Children's Hospital in Kansas City.
