Mickey L. Watts, 69, Ava, passed away Friday, March 17, 2006, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center, Ava.
She was born Mary 14, 1936, at St. Louis, to John Leroy and Hazel Lee (McGill) Ivey. On June 4, 1965, she married Richard Joseph Watts, and to this union, two children were born.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Many times, she was known to have helped strangers by taking them into her home. She had great compassion not only for people, but also for animals.
Mickey was preceded in death by both parents, her stepmother, Ruby, and 19 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, of the home; one adopted son, Jim Byrd and wife, Jan, of Wasola; one adopted daughter, Carlie Chandler and husband, Richard, of Theodosia; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Loyd L. Ivey and wife, Debbie, of Chandler, Ariz., Wayne Ivey and wife, Linda, of Zalma, and David Ivey and wife, Tina, of Jackson; five sisters, Toni Boyer and husband, Danny, of Squires, Patricia Pigg, of Farmington, Wanda Carron, Provo, Utah, Wilma Williams, Bourbon, and Cathy Bess, of Ava; and other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Ava, with the arrangements under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ava.
Floralee Stecker Hadley, 94

Floralee Hadley passed away March 18, 2006 at the Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs. She was 94 years old.
Floralee was born Nov. 20, 1911 in West Plains, the daughter of Lewis Michael Stecker and Mary Catherine Brumbaugh Stecker.
The family moved to the Ava area where she grew up and graduated from Ava High School in 1930. It was noted in her high school yearbook, that she was "conscientious, exacting, and sincere", and that aptly fits her character throughout her life.
While working at Curtis-Wright Aircraft in St. Louis she met her future husband, Alva Ward Hadley. They were married on Sept. 4, 1943 in St. Louis. To this union one daughter, Candice, was born.
Floralee was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived her life being conscientious and sincere like she was described by her classmates.
She leaves behind her grandson, Jason Rudolph of Alabama, a great-grandson Steven Rudolph and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva; her daughter Candice Rudolph Hadley; her grandson Wayne Rudolph; and her sisters, Esther Northrup, Mary Moritz, Luella Thompson, Vernice Stecker Williamson, Ruby Stecker, and a brother John Stecker.
Graveside services for Floralee Hadley were held on March 22 at 11 a.m. in the Ava Cemetery with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava.
Martha Reynolds Peters, 92

Martha Peters, 92, of Cairo, Neb., formerly of the Taylor/Loup County area, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at her daughter’s home in Cairo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary United Methodist Church, in Taylor, Neb., with the Rev. Dale Lambert officiating. Burial was in the Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor.
Mrs. Peters was born May 11, 1913, in Loup County to Milton H. “Dick” and Sarah (Dilsaver) Sheldon. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Reynolds, second husband, Ralph Young, third husband, Britton Peters, and a son, Bill Reynolds, of Boelus, Neb.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Raymond Robertson, of Cairo, Neb.; five sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward Reynolds, of Arizona, Duane and Shirley Reynolds, of Litchfield, Neb., Raymond and Betty Reynolds, of Ava, Larry Reynolds, Burlington, Colo., and John Reynolds, of Hazard, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Deb Reynolds, of Boelus, Neb.; three sisters, Albertha Cole, of Sargent, Neb., Lula Gardner, of Iowa, and LaVonne Patterson, of Missouri; a brother, Howard Sheldon, of Kansas; a sister-in-law, Ruby Shelton, of Taylor, Neb.; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Martha was the second born out of eight children. She was united in marriage to Ernest Reynolds in 1933. Seven children were born to this union.
She graduated from Loup County High School in 1931, having celebrated her 74-year class reunion in Taylor High School.
Martha loved her yard and garden, and spent lots of time enjoying her winter birds. Lots of her time was spent reading, quilting and sewing.
She was a devoted Christian who taught adult Sunday school classes for 50 years. She was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, Alex Reynolds, of Litchfield, Neb., and three brothers, Morris, Wilson and Walter Sheldon.
Reba M. McGovern, 80

Reba M. Govern, 80, of Show Low, Ariz., and Gilbert, Ariz., passed away on Feb. 13, 2006.
She was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Prior, Mo., to Everett Austin Denney and Anna Ethel (Shelton) Denney, and moved to Arizona in 1945 after graduating from Ava High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd McGovern; a daughter, Judith Friedl; her parents; a brother, Doyle Denney; sisters, Lena Irvin, Eula Metcalf, and Clarine Hoelsch.
Reba is survived by a daughter, Janet Walker; and four grandchildren, Thomas Friedl, Amy Friedl, Timothy Walker, Megan Walker; a sister, Juanita Denney; a brother, Paul DeWayne Denney; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 19 at 2:30 p.m., at Green Acres Chapel of Light, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Rosalie (Grabeel) Huffman, 81

M. Rosalie (Grabeel) Huffman, the daughter of William and Beulah (Hunt) Grabeel, was born April 20, 1924, in San Bernardino, Calif., and departed this life March 10, 2006, at the age of 81.
Rosalie was a resident of the Ava area for most of her life. She was a member of Highway Church of the Nazarene.
On May 22, 1965, Rosalie and Kelly Huffman were united in marriage in Ava. She was employed as a school teacher for 45 years. Rosalie loved teaching and gardening.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billy J. Grabeel.
Her survivors include her husband of 41 years, Kelly Huffman, of the home, Ava; two nephews, Tim Grabeel and Steve Grabeel; two nieces, Faith White and Joe Grabeel; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Brian Letsinger officiating. Interment was in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday, from 1 p.m. to service time. Memorials may be made to Gideons International.
Dan Gray Blankenship, 64

Dan Gray Blankenship, son of the late Ansel and Helen (Jones) Blankenship, was born on May 31, 1941, in Kansas City, and departed this life on March 7, 2006, at his residence south of Norwood, in Douglas County, following an extended illness. He was 64.
Dan grew up and attended school in Grandview, and graduated from Grandview High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Linda Gemeinhardt on June 11, 1961, in Raytown. Two sons were born to this union. They raised their family on a farm south of Norwood where they made their home for the past 44 years.
Dan was an avid outdoorsman, especially when hunting, fishing and tending to his dairy farm.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting with his many friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Michael.
He is survived by his living wife of 44 years, Linda Blankenship, of their home; one son, Craig Blankenship and his wife, Valerie, of Norwood; one brother, Jim Blankenship and his wife, Ethel, of Kansas City; two sisters, Della Northcutt and her husband, Peter, of Lees Summit, and Jean Blankenship, of Peculiar; two grandchildren, Bryon and Tori Blankenship; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 10, at 10 a.m., in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with the Rev. Arnold Day officiating. Burial was in the Denlow Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove.
Smith Taylor "Smitty" Brown II, 87

Smith Taylor Brown II, son of Smith Taylor Brown and Nancy Elizabeth (Pyle) Brown, was born on Jan. 11, 1919, in Pennsylvania and departed this life on April 1, 2006, in Ava, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 20 days.
"Smitty" was a resident of the Ava and Squires community for several years. He served his country as a Medic/Flight Medic for 31 years with the U.S. Navy during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He had been awarded the three Purple Hearts and numerous other medals.
In 1994 "Smitty" and Leona Ryan were united in marriage in the state of Oregon. She preceded him in death in 1997.
In 1998, "Smitty" and Marilyn C. Jennings were united in marriage in Laughlin, Nev. Marilyn preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 2005.
He was a member of the VFW in Oregon, the American Riflemans Assoc., The Muzzle Loaders Assoc. and The Bison Assoc. He had a passion for Colonel Days, guns, woodworking and gems.
"Smitty" was career military man. He worked very hard his whole life and loved serving his country and his family.
His survivors include five children and their spouses, Erica Nicole DeHaan and Rick, and Suzy Gartman, all of Ava, Charles Brian Theademan and Tanya, Big Bar, Calif., Charles David Theademan and Kim, Winlock, Wash., and Luci Denning, Tulsa, Okla.; 16 grandchildren, Tiffany, Andrew, Ricky, Cassandra, Laree, Shawn, Dusty, Dakota, Christopher, Jason, Dillon, Ashley, Tammy, Russell, Alana and Michael; six great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Memorial graveside service will be Friday, April 7, 2 p.m. at the Hall Cemetery at Mound with Greg Chamberlain officiating and full military honors by American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993.
Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Louis "Lou" Oliver Clinkingbeard Jr., 80

Louis O. Clinkingbeard, Jr., 80, of Gladstone, passed away April 4 with his family by his side.
He was a graduate of Ava High School.
He served in combat and as an MP in the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division during WWII. He was a decorated war veteran and awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in action against the Japanese forces on Luzon Island, Philippines.
After the war he married the love of his life of 57 years, Emma Cornelius, and together, they raised four daughters. He was a member of Gladstone VFW post #10906 and the Northland Optimist Club. He was a retail grocery manager in the greater Kansas City area for many years. After retiring, he drove a school bus for the North Kansas City School District.
He earned his real estate broker's license and served as treasurer of his investment club for many years. He enjoyed his friends, especially those he walked with every morning at Antioch Mall for the last 14 years and those at area Northland businesses. He also enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens, camping, fishing, bargain shopping, going to the racetrack, and traveling. But most of all, his family was his pride and joy, his inspiration, and his reason for living. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Oliver Sr. and Minnie Bell Clinkingbeard, and sister Verba Sivils.
He is survived by his wife Emma; their daughters and husbands, Helen and Harry Rehkop Jr., Marjorie and Patrick McGinty, Linda and Roger Penland, and Deborah and James Flack; 10 grandchildren: Hal, Crystal, Sarah, Mark, Valerie, Megan, Ryan, Kyle, Lauren, and Austin; five great-grand children; five nieces; one nephew; numerous cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home April 6 at 6 p.m. with services at 10 a.m April 7.
Visitation at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava is Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m., followed by a military graveside service by American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993 at 11 a.m. at Ava Cemetery with Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Northcare Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
Raquela 'Kelly' Crites, 17 & Thomas William Crites, 1

Raquela Nicole "Kelly" Crites was born June 1, 1988 in Pordenone, Italy, and Thomas William Crites was born Sept. 29, 2004 in Branson, the beloved children of William Eugene Crites Jr. and Lisa Michelle (Long) Crites, and went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2006.
Kelly was 17 years, 9 months, and 21 days. Thomas was 1 year, 5 months, and 23 days.
Kelly enjoyed history, archeology, music, traveling and loved England.
Kelly was a member of the Ava General Baptist Church.
Thomas loved to dance, play cars, Play Station, Sesame Street and sing in choir. He also loved playing with his kitty, Jasper and Riley his dog.
Kelly and Thomas are survived by their parents, William and Lisa, and a sister, Krystiana Crites, all of the home, Ava; maternal grandparents, Julia Long, Liberal, Mo., and Norman and Grace Long, Girard, Kan.; paternal grandparents Virginia Willette Crites, Ava, and William and Amy Crites, Salina, Kan.; paternal great-grandfather, Willard Coplin, Bonne Terre, Mo.,; aunts and uncles; and Kelly's boyfriend, Timothy Henry; and a host of other friends.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 27, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating.

Floyd Lee Lamb, 70

Floyd Lee Lamb was born June 16, 1935, in Girdner, Mo.
He was the son of James Arthur Lamb and Florence Mae (Mallonee) Lamb.
Floyd departed this life on March 25, 2006, at the age of 70 years.
On Dec. 31, 1955, Floyd and Patricia (Pat) D. Frenger were united in marriage in Elizabeth City, N.C. Floyd and Pat were blessed with two children.
Floyd enjoyed hunting, and traveling the country with Pat. Floyd was a member of the Red Bank Baptist Church and the Fleet Reserves.
Floyd was a resident of the Ava area for the past 13 years, moving here from Hudson, Fla. Floyd was a retired Navy veteran, serving his country in both the Korean War and Viet Nam.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willa Mae Francis and Lois Kay Norman; and four brothers, Roy Everett Lamb, Junior Ray Lamb, Robert Wayne Lamb and James Arthur Lamb Jr.
He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Pat; a son, Floyd Lee Lamb Jr. and wife Sherry, Ava; a daughter, Debra Darlene Summers and husband Sam, Seymour; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Leota Grant, Gallatin, Tenn., Dorothy Lou Alexander, Middleburg, Fla., and Judith Ann Zernicke, Ava; one brother, Chester Frank Lamb, Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Pastor Les Hallmark officiating.
Interment followed in the Murray Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Community Hospice of America.
