Delmar Merle Guthery, 81, Ava, passed away June 20, 2007.
He was born Aug. 16, 1925 in Ava, the son of George Guthery and Fay (Sanders) Guthery.
Delmar was a lifelong resident of the Ava community. Delmar was an entrepreneur and business owner of Douglas County. He loved to work. Some of the occupations that he did included farming, truck driving, carpentry, construction and etc. At one time, he also served as an auxiliary policeman and also served as Ava City Alderman.
He was also an antique tool demonstrator for Silver Dollar City for seven years. Delmar was a "Jack-of-all-trades."
On Oct. 17, 1948, Delmar and Jessie May Stancil were united in marriage in Union Gap, Wash., and to this union, three children were born.
Jessie preceded him in death in 2001.
On Aug. 17, 2002, Delmar and Elizabeth (Spurlock) Wilson were united in marriage in Ava.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and later attended, with Elizabeth, the First General Baptist Church in Ava. Delmar enjoyed antiques, traveling and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Fay; his wife, Jessie May; one brother, Damon; one sister, Norma Duckworth; and one grandson, Stephen.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, of the home in Ava; three children, Ruth Ann Billado and husband, Doug, Richford, Vt., Nancy Parr, Ava, and Elmer Merle Guthery, Theodosia; one step-daughter, Judy Mitchell and hus¬band, Norman, Ava; six grandchildren; three step-granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Norman Duckworth, Ava; a sister-in-law, Maxine Rosseau, Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Delmar will be Saturday, June 23, at 2 p.m., at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Robert Roberts and Marvin Loftin officiating.
Interment will follow in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation is Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
The family requests memorials to American Heart Association.
Sam Mitchell Menard, 47

Sam Mitchell Menard, the son of Edward L. Menard and Emily (Gross) Menard, was born Nov. 11, 1959, in Buffalo, N.Y., and departed this life June 12, 2007, in Springfield, at the age of 47.
Sam was a resident of Kirbyville, for the past 2 1/2 years moving from Branson. Sam grew up in Cheektowaga, N.Y., near Buffalo. He was employed as a salesman with Time Share in Florida and in Branson. Sam enjoyed traveling, trapping, going to Las Vegas and walking in the park with his pet dog, Ginger. Sam loved being with his friends and family and making people laugh. Sam was a Christian.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by a son, Eric Menard, Kansas City; his twin sister, Sandy Menard Matesich, Hamburg, N.Y.; two brothers, Jim Menard and wife, Roe, of Connecticut; Larry Menard and wife, Anne, of Cheektowaga, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; a longtime friend, Leslie Maggard and her daughter, Sarah Rose Maggard, Kirbyville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cremation services are under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
William H. Bentley, 86

William H. Bentley, 86, known to many in town as Mr. Bill or Mr. Bentley, passed away June 10, 2007 at Cox South Hospital.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonita Shea, and her husband, James Shea, of Rockbridge; his brother, Lee; his sister, Bobbie; and many nieces and nephews in the Ohio and West Virginia area.
Bill is a retired veteran, a Pearl Harbor survivor, as well as having survived five tours of Vietnam. He passed away after a short illness.
Norman Roy Fisher Sr., 56

Norman Roy Fisher Sr., son of Elmer Wheshe and Margaret Mae (Carr) Fisher, was born Jan. 11, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pa.
He departed this life Friday, June 15, 2007, in his home near Ava, at the age of 56.
On Dec. 28, 1974, Norman was united in marriage to Catherine Gail Dallas and to this union, two sons and one daughter were born.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Norman is survived by his wife, Catherine, of the home; two sons, Norman Roy Fisher Jr., of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert S. Fisher, of Ava; one daughter, Kimberly Allen and her husband, Michael, of Marshfield; nine grandchildren, Alisha, Aaron, Ian, Joel, Robert Jr., Dakota, Tyler, Breanna and Aiden; his mother, Margaret Carr-Fisher, of Larksville, Pa.; two brothers, Elmer Fisher Jr. and his wife, June, of Larksville, Pa., and Charles Fisher and his wife, Shelly, of the state of Michigan; two nieces, Annabelle Fisher, of the state of Michigan and June W. Dobbs, of Larksville, Pa.; two nephews, Elmer W. Fisher III, of Larksville, Pa., and Charles C. Fisher Jr., of the state of New Jersey; as well as a number of other relatives and friends.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., and was raised in Browns Mills, N.J., where he graduated from Pemberton Township High School in 1968. In 1969, Norman entered into the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country in Vietnam from 1970 to 1971. Norman served in the Marine Corps until 1974. In September 1974, Norman entered into the United States Army where he served until 1985. In 1987, he moved to California and worked as a sheriff's deputy for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.
In 1990, he re-enlisted in the U.S. Army and served over seas in Saudi Arabia until 1991. When his time in the service was finished, Norman continued to live in California where he worked as a security specialist for Barton Securities in Roseville, Calif., until 2004, when he Catherine retired to the Seymour area. In 2006, they moved to Ava to make their home.
Norman had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of the Seymour United Methodist Church.
In his spare time, Norman enjoyed playing with his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was also an avid wrestling fan, never missing an opportunity to watch it on TV.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, in Seymour United Methodist Church.
Burial was in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, in Springfield, with full military rites, under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour.
A memorial has been established and may be made through the funeral home P.O. Box 236, Seymour, Missouri 65746.
Wilma E. Flynn, 91

Wilma E. Flynn, daughter of Neal Davis and Bertha (Brown) Davis, was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Fredonia, Kan., and departed this life June 6, 2007, at the age of 91.
Wilma was a resident of the Ava area for the past 60 years moving from Nebraska.
Wilma and Kenneth Flynn were united in marriage on Feb. 18, 1932, in Fremont, Neb. Wilma and Kenneth were blessed with two daughters.
She loved and enjoyed her family and working in her flower gardens. She was employed with Tobin Hamilton shoe factory for 21 years. Wilma was a member of the Gentry Church.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, her husband, Kenneth, and one great-grandson, Noah.
She is survived by two daughters, Norma Denney, Ava, and Nancy Breshears, Ramona, Okla.; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Hailey, Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. David Dodson and Oren Alcorn officiating.
Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of charity.
Curtis L. Manis, 80

Curtis L. Manis was born April 10, 1927, in Halfway, Mo., the son of W.F. (Bill) and Edith Redd Manis.
He passed away June 1, 2007, in Mesa, Ariz.
Curtis grew up in Ava and graduated from Ava High School in 1945. He served in the military and the reserves. He served in post-war Europe and in Japan during the Korean War.
Curtis and Mary Barton were married in 1949. To this marriage three sons were born. They resided many years in Rolla.
In 1970, Curtis married Kaye Jurgensen. They resided in Anchorage, Alaska, and retired in Mesa, Ariz.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Doran Manis, and one grandson, Clayton Manis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kaye; his sons and families, Barton and Sara Manis, Brian and Donna Manis, and Barry Manis; one grandson and one great-grandson; three stepsons, Martin Jurgensen, Tim and Gay Jurgensen, and Eric and Beth Jurgensen; one stepdaughter, Karen and Abdullah Sherdil; seven step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are his sister, Lois and Kenneth Bushman, of Ava; and a brother, Charles and Mary Manis, of Colorado Springs, Colo.
A memorial service was held in Mesa, Ariz.
Michael James Rehard, 19

Michael James "Mike" Rehard was born Sept. 12, 1987, in Hawthorne, Calif., and departed this life June 6, 2007, from an auto accident at the age of 19.
Mike was a resident of the Ava area for the past three weeks, moving here from Flower Mound, Texas. He was formerly employed with Papa John's Pizza in Texas. Mike enjoyed riding dirt bikes, driving his dad's car, and fishing. He loved music and the Archer homestead of the Goodhope community which became his home. Mike was a member of the Lakeland Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas.
Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Wilma Archer and Dottie and Roy Rehard.
He is survived by his parents, Robert Michael "Bob" Rehard and Sandra J. "Sandy" (Archer) Rehard, Ava; one brother, Timothy Ryan Rehard and wife, Venessa, Ava; several uncles, aunts, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Services for Mike were held Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Pastor Mike Freeman officiating.
Interment followed in the Goodhope Cemetery.

Wilma L. Runnels Souder, 80

Wilma Lee Runnels Souder, daughter of George Alexander Stroud and Mamie Lee (Julian) Stroud, was born on Dec. 22, 1926 in Lake Creek, Okla., and passed from this life on May 31, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, at the age of 80 years.
Wilma was a resident of Marshfield for two years, moving from Ava. She worked for Baxter Laboratories, Mtn. Home, Ark., for 21 years and also worked for Timex Watch Factory for seven years.
In May 1944, Wilma and Clay Allen Runnels were united in marriage and to this union, three children were born.
Mr. Runnels preceded her in death.
In November 1974, Wilma and Basil Souder were united in marriage.
He preceded her in death in 1984.
Wilma was a member of the Souder Church of Christ. She was also an active member of the Red Hats Society and the Almartha Quilting Club. Wilma enjoyed gardening and most of all being with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Clay Runnels and Basil Souder, and two sons, David Clay and Larry Wayne Runnels.
Her survivors include one daughter, Janice Kay Jeter, Texarkana, Texas; three stepchildren, Zula Height, Wimberly, Texas, Janet Casey and Patsy Land, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Gay Runnels; four grandchildren, Steven Jeter, Brandy (Jeter) Shouse, Jory Runnels and Cinnamon (Runnels) Keith; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Christian, Kaylee, Natalie and Cutter Clay; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, June 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with E.J. Hampton officiating.
Graveside services were held Monday, June 4 at 10 a.m., at the Elmwood Memorial Cemetery, Abilene, Texas, conducted by Girdner Funeral Home, Abilene, Texas.
Local arrangements are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
