Daniel A. Bergeson, of Springfield, died on May 17, 2007 from a colloid brain cyst.
He was born May 15, 1978 in Branson, and attended Farmington schools. Daniel was the son of Larry and June Bergeson, of Springfield.
He was formerly married to Jennifer Gisler.
He is also survived by his sister, Leatta and her husband Edward Workman, of Neosho, and their children Grace, Hannah and Corrine.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Leatta Fleming, formerly of Ava, and Charles and Mary Bergeson, formerly of Rockford, Ill. He will be interred next to Donald and Leatta Fleming at Brushy Knob Cemetery east of Ava, as he had requested.
Daniel had a lifelong love of music and was a talented guitarist. He adored his nieces and was anticipating the homecoming of his newly adopted niece and nephew. Daniel used his experiences to try to help others and was known as a great listener and a comfort to those in need.
The cyst was discovered in the ER on the morning of his 29th birthday and he never regained consciousness.
Services were held at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Ava, on Saturday May 19, at 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m.
The family requests that contributions be made in his memory to the Golden Avenue Baptist Church's Building Fund, 558 South Golden Avenue, Springfield, MO 65802.
Mary Elizabeth Caudill, 68

Mary Elizabeth Caudill, daughter of Bailey Ludwig and Iva (Robertson) Ludwig, was born Feb. 20, 1939, in Ava, and departed this life in Ava, on May 18, 2007, at the age of 68.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the Ava area. She graduated from Ava High School in 1957.
On Sept. 15, 1958, Mary and Kenneth Caudill were united in marriage in Seymour, and to this union, a daughter was born.
Mary was a homemaker and member of the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, bookkeeper, secretary, and Christmas program coordinator. Mary had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening, raising tomatoes and flowers. She loved watching the St. Louis Cardinals and most of all doing things with her daughter, Beth, and her grandchildren and her church work.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Annette Caudill and Wilda Lloyd, and one niece, Rita Elliott.
She is survived by her daughter, Bethany Schroeder, and three grandchildren, Seth, Delaine and Destiny Schroeder, all of Ava; her husband, Kenneth Caudill, of Wasola; one brother, Larry Ludwig, three sisters, Virginia Crank, Aloma Cummins and Ila Stillings, all of Ava; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Pastor Richard Potter officiating.
Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Turrell Samuel Waggoner, 65

Turrell Samuel "Sam" Waggoner passed away Friday, April 13, 2007, following heart surgery.
He was born Aug. 3, 1941, in the Arno community, the son of Turrell and Bessie (Means) Waggoner.
Sam owned and operated the Waggoner concrete business in Kansas City for a number of years.
Sam was a quiet, lovable human being, and was liked by everyone who knew him. As a small child, he played the pump organ to the delight of his family.
He spent many happy hours hunting and fishing at his five-acre camp site, accompanied by his dog, Jack.
He is survived by three sons, Dale, Bill and Brandon; two daughters, Tammy and Sonja Anne; several grandchildren; his companion Peggy Clark; and many nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by four sisters, Mavis McAvoy, of Salisbury, Md., Frances Roelke, of Knoxville, Md., Lois Moore, Ledyard, Conn., and Mary Kreisvelt, Tulsa, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jack and Bill, and his sister Ruth Joan Gibson.
Services were held on April 17 at the White Chapel Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Bob Morris.
Interment was in Ever Green Cemetery, Braymer, Mo.
Sam made peace with God in the presence of Rev. Morris.
Edward Leslie Dean, 71

Edward Leslie Dean, son of Everett Dorr Dean and Alice Marion Hanson Dean, was born on Nov. 29, 1935, in Kandiyohi County, Minn., and passed from this life on May 20, 2007, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, at the age of 71 years.
Ed was a resident of Ava for the past five years moving from California. In high school, Ed was very active in the FFA holding all the offices. He was a retired vice president of West Coast Division of Greif Brothers Co. He worked with them for 45 years.
On Dec. 15, 1955 Ed and Marie Soderberg were united in marriage in New Hampton, Iowa and to this union, two children were born.
Ed was an active volunteer. He served as past president of Rotary in Morgan Hill, Calif., and also served for the United Way. Ed donated 17 plus gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed antique farm equipment.
Ed's joy was working on his farm with his wife, Marie, in the Ava community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Paul, infant Karl, Roger, Richard Dean and one niece, Marnie Dean.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, of the home in Ava; one son, Michael Allan Dean, Baltimore, Md.; and one daughter, Dawn Marie Dean, Gilroy, Calif.; three grandchildren, Ingrid and Anthony Dean, Severna Park, Md., and Christopher Dean, Gilroy, Calif.; one sister, Alice Dorschner and husband, David, Montevideo, Minn.; one brother, David Dean and wife, Jeanne, Litchfield, Minn.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial service is Tuesday, May 29, at 2 p.m. at the Sweden Church, Ava, with Pastor Joshua Strong officiating.
A memorial service will be held June 23, at 2 p.m. at the Litchfield, Minn., Assembly of God Church.
The family requests memorials to a hospice or the donor's charity of choice.
Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava.
Wesley H. McFarlin, 85

Wesley H. McFarlin, 85, was born in the small community of Larissa, Mo., on April 3, 1922, to Henry and Mertie McFarlin.
Wesley passed away on Monday, May 14, 2007, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, surrounded by his family and dear friends.
Wesley attended West Liberty School and served his country in World War II. He was a licensed cosmetologist and once had the pleasure of doing the hair of country music entertainer Dottie West.
After 32 years of working at John Deere Spreader, Wesley retired and was often seen driving his tractor through the area on his way to plow a garden, mow sprouts or bale hay for someone.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mertie McFarlin, four sisters, Juanita Green, Mae McFarlin, Nancy DeBruyne and Cecil Caldwell; and two brothers, Neil and Robert McFarlin.
Surviving are his companion of 17 years, Judy; a son, Jim McFarlin and wife, Ann, of Fort Smith, Ark.; two daughters, Becky Lindstrom and husband, Howard, of Loves Park, Ill., and Bev Nidey and husband, Floyd, of LeClaire, Iowa; two sisters, Velma Chapell and Betty Newberry, both of Ava; 13 grandchildren, Marcie and Tom Howard, Melissa and Andy Tervelt, Matt and Kelly Lindstrom, Mindy Lindstrom, Bridgette Nidey-Brown, Adam and Darcy Nidey, Sarah and Kevin McGinty, Holly and Mike Finegan, Sheryl and Craig Harrison, David and Christie McFarlin, Michael and Catrena Lee, Patrick and Shea Lee, and Steve and Denene McFarlin; and 22 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 18, at 2 p.m., at Ava Family Funeral Home, Ava, with Randy Dalton officiating.
Burial followed in White's Creek Cemetery with full military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, White's Creek Cemetery or Star Chapel.
Walter William Fonter, 84

Walter William Fonter, son of Paul B. Fonter and Margaret Kolmar Fonter, was born on Aug. 25, 1922, in LaGrange, Ill., and passed from this life on May 13, 2007, in his home, Ava, with his loving family by his side at the age of 84.
Walter lived in Ava for over 23 years, moving from Palos Hills, Ill. He was a retired cabinetmaker. Walter was an Army veteran and served his country in World War II.
On Oct. 18, 1947, Walter and Lois M. Schmidt were united in marriage in Argo-Summit, Ill., and to this union, three children were born.
Walter grew up in Lyons, Ill., and as a child, was raised in the Lutheran Church and believed in the Lord.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of the home in Ava; one son, Paul W. Fonter, Springfield; two daughters and their spouses, Liz and Ed Hergenroeder, Ava, and Laurie and John Samuelson, Sparta; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Wednesday, May 16, at 2 p.m., in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Greg Dowler officiating.
Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery with full military honors by Ava American Legion Post 112 and VFW Post 5993.
The family requests memorials to Community Hospice of America, Mtn. Grove.
Hazle 'Hade' Tetrick, 77

Hazle ‘Hade’ Tetrick, 77, of Montpelier, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at the Iowa City Veterans Hospital, Iowa City.
‘Hade’ was born on Sept. 11, 1929, in Trail, Missouri, the son of Louis and Valley Tate Tetrick.
He married Loretta Kinsley on July 7, 1956, in Muscatine, Iowa.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Korea. He was also a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union. He has resided in the Montpelier area since 1962.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Tetrick of Montpelier, Iowa; two sons, Eric Tetrick of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, and Gregg Tetrick of Montpelier, Iowa; one daughter, Yvonne True and husband, Bruce, of Mitchellville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, Hase Tetrick, Wendell Tetrick, Ferd Tetrick, Narvil Tetrick, and Dwight Tetrick, all of Missouri; and two sisters, Debbie Croney and Ima Griggs, both of Missouri.
‘Hade’ was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Harry Tetrick, Haskell Tetrick, Hattress Tetrick, and Kimon Tetrick.
Funeral service was held on Friday, May 11, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home.
Burial was in Island Cemetery, Fruitland, with military rites provided by the combined services of the American Legion Post 27 and the V.F.W. Post 1565.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 10, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of Loretta Tetrick.
Edna D. Currier, 97

Edna Dona Currier, daughter of John L. Turner and Lillie Mae Shipley Turner, last living one of 10 children, was born on Jan. 15, 1910, in Douglas County, at Girdner, and passed from this life on May 11, 2007, in Ava, at the age of 97.
Edna lived most of her life in the Ava community where she was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband, Oscar. Edna attended grade school at Excelsior School. She lived in Bettendorf, Iowa for a few years and worked in a greenhouse.
On Jan. 27, 1926, Edna and Oscar Currier were united in marriage in Douglas County, and to this union, two sons were born.
She returned to the Ava community in 1958. Edna was a member of the Sweden Church.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar in 1973, a grandson, Floyd Lee, six sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Howard Currier and wife, Florence, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Floyd Currier of Ava; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends that called her "Granny."
Services for Edna were held Tuesday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Revs. Robert Grisham and Don Graham officiating.
Interment followed in the Sweden Cemetery.
