Mary Ellen Nash, the daughter of Clarence Trowbridge and Bernice (Thompson) Trowbridge, was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Rochelle, Ill., and departed this life Sept. 18, 2007, at Cox Hospital in Springfield, at the age of 64, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Mary was a resident of Douglas County, for most of her life. She was owner and operator of J.C. Penney Catalog Sales. Mary was a Christian.
On March 30, 1964, Mary and Ronald O. Nash were united in marriage in Rochelle, Ill. Mary had two sons, Dondi and Randy Nash.
Mary enjoyed traveling when she could and spending time with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her companion, Mickey Wharton, of Ava; two sons, Randy Nash and wife, Jayne, Escondido, Calif., and Dondi Nash, Ava; two stepchildren, Debbie Kotelnicki, Scottsville, Ky., and Dale Nash, St. Charles, Ill.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Trowbridge, Quincy, Ill., and Richard Trowbridge, Warner Robins, Ga.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with Elder Dale Wharton and Elder David Kelsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Thursday) 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, 330 N. Jefferson, Springfield, MO 65806 or at the funeral.
Jerry Landon Holman, 70

Jerry Landon Holman, son of Lathern A. Holman and Larna Beatrice Dotson Holman, was born on April 30, 1937 in Ava, and went home to be with his Lord on Sept. 16, 2007 in Heart of the Ozarks HealthCare Center, Ava, at the age of 70.
Jerry was a lifelong resident of the Ava community.
He was a Christian and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Ava.
Jerry worked at many different jobs in Ava. He was employed with the Avalon Theatre and the Dairy Queen for several years. He also had worked at hauling hay and coal, and he also mowed yards for almost everyone in Ava. Jerry loved people and they loved him. He enjoyed working and was adored by his family. To Jerry's great-grand-nieces and nephews, he had always referred to them as "his grandchildren." He loved them dearly. Jerry's smiling face will be missed but never forgotten.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Charles Donald Holman, and one great-niece, Shelly Heinlein Fesler.
He is survived by one sister, Naomi Stephens, Ava; niece and nephew, Dewayne and Mary "Winky" Stephens and Charlotte and Leonard Koop; three great-nephews, Steven and Jennifer Heinlein, Shannon and Shelby Koop, and Shane Koop; four great-great-nieces and nephews, Gracie Lynn and Cory Ray Heinlein, and Shaelynn and Cohen Koop; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services for Jerry were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Pastors Tom Maples and Bobby Page officiating.
Interment followed in the Ava Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday from 6 to 7 p.m. with prayer led by Pastor Dwight Wilson.
The family requests memorials to the family as a love offering in care of the funeral home.
Frances Rosalie Follis, 88

Frances Rosalie Follis, a long-time resident of the Forsyth Health Care Center, passed away Sept. 18, 2007, in Skaggs Memorial Hospital, Branson, at the age of 88.
Rosalie was born Jan. 26, 1919, in Denlow, to Lester and Ada Mae (Williams) Newton.
She was united in marriage to John Henry Follis on Jan. 17, 1938, at Castle Rock, Colo., and to this union, five children were born.
Rosalie was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Albert Ponsler and Maud Clara (Pennington) Williams, and paternal grandparents James P. and Bertie O. Newton; her parents, Lester and Ada Mae Newton, husband John Henry Follis, son John Lester Follis who passed away at age 66, and grandchildren Kimberly Royles and Lester Earl Follis.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Aline Trainor, of Denver, Colo.; cousin Evan Williams of Mountain Grove; three sons, Albert Fred Follis and wife, Joan, of Ava, Allen Thomas Follis and wife, Donna, of Oak Grove, and William Edward Follis and wife, Vivian, of Hollister; a daughter, Carolyn Rosalie Berry and husband, James M. Berry, of Forsyth; a nephew, John Paul Trainor and wife, Joan, of Denver, Colo. and niece, Rose Clara Trainor.
Grandchildren include: (John's children) -- Anne Marie Blue, Travis Martin Follis, Clara Celeste Bullock, Eric Nolan Follis, Kirk Wilson Follis; (Fred's children) -- Suzanne Carla Wilson, Sharon Marie Bennett, Karen Rose Follis; (Allen's children) -- Janice Gibler, Carrie Ann Follis; (Carolyn's children) -- Lisa Ann Berry, Jamie M. Berry; and (Bill's daughter) -- Shila Aimee Shaffer. Rosalie was blessed with many great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Rosalie was known for her gift of story telling, and several generations of children were eager to listen to them.
Graveside services will be held at 1 on Friday, Sept. 21.
Rosalie will be buried next to her parents in the Denlow Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Ava Family Funeral Home.
Gerald A. Davidson, 68

Gerald A. Davidson, 68, a resident of Colona, Ill., died Sept. 4, 2007, at Heartland Health Care Center in Moline, Ill.
Gerald was born April 16, 1939, in Ava, the son of Wesley and Beatrice (Turner) Davidson.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1962, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Gerald retired in 1986, after several years of employment as a truck driver for the Amoco Oil Company.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughters, Tracy Davidson, of Viola, Ill., and Lea Walters, of Dubuque, Iowa; his sons, Steve Davidson, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Jerry Davidson and his wife, Pam, of Colona, Ill.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, Beryl.
Funeral services were held at noon Friday, Sept. 7, at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the time of the services on Friday.
Burial with military honors conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246 was in Rock Island (Ill.) National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Norma (Daphan) Baker, 54

Norma (Daphan) Baker, the daughter of Charles Norman Massey and Ima Faye (Burdan) Massey, was born Jan. 6, 1953, and departed this life Sept. 5, 2007, at the age of 54.
Daphan and Ronald Baker were united in marriage April 23, 1976 in Ava.
Daphan was a homemaker and enjoyed playing Yahtzee with her on-line friends.
Daphan was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Charles A. Horvath, and a daughter, Michelle Hensley.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald Baker, Cabool; one daughter, Ronda M. Baker, Houston; three stepsons and spouses, Ronnie and Crystal Baker, Cameron, Rodney and Shelley Baker, Excelsior Springs, and Randy and Kathryn Baker, Lawson; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Dianna Riley, Holt; one brother, Jeff Massey, Dora; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava. Love offerings may be made to the family.
Doyle C. Clemons, 59

Doyle Conrad Clemons, age 59, of Nixa, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2007.
He was born March 15, 1948, in Gainesville, the son of A.B. and Wanda (Pride) Clemons.
Doyle grew up on a farm in western Christian County and was an avid outdoorsman.
In 1966, he graduated from Nixa High School.
On Oct. 17, 1969 he and Retha Kay Wyman were united in marriage.
Doyle was employed by Schatz Underground as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was currently employed by the Christian County Road Department.
Survivors include his wife, Retha; his parents, A.B. and Wanda Clemons, Nixa; a sister, Katrina Clemons, Nixa; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many friends.
A memorial service was held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
John Frederick 'Jack' Plummer, 78

Jack Plummer was born on Aug. 17, 1929, in Brooklyn N.Y.
He departed this life on Sept. 3, in Las Vegas, Nev.
On Sept. 15, 1953 he married Grace Millsap in Las Vegas, Nev.
Jack and Grace were residents of the Ava area for 11 years, moving here when they retired. During his time here, he made many friends and touched many lives.
A Catholic for his entire life, he attended St. Leo's Catholic Church in Ava. He was a member of the local Knights of Columbus council, serving a term as Grand Knight. He also spent 61 years with the Boy Scouts as a Life Scout.
While living in Ava, he worked at Wal-Mart and Century 21.
He leaves behind a host of friends and family. Surviving him are, his wife, Grace, of the home; daughters Micheline Golden and husband, Ray, of Clovis, Calif., and Jackie Corlis and husband, Chris, of Kingman Ariz.; a son, Zachary Plummer, of Kingman Ariz.; five grandchildren, Asheline Beeson, Chelsea Beeson, and Samantha Golden, all of Clovis Calif., and Brianna Corlis, and Eric Corlis, of Kingman, Ariz.
Funeral services were held on Sept. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kingman, Ariz., arranged by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home.
Ruby Taber, 91

Ruby Taber, a resident of Caldwell, Idaho, for over 50 years, passed away of natural causes Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 at a local hospital.
Ruby was born in Ben Davis, Missouri, on February 4, 1916 to Alice and LaVell Hatman.
At age 3, her father died and her mother later married William Sanders and Ruby became the older sister of what would become nine children.
Ruby's introduction to Caldwell came in 1937, when the family came west seeking employment.
After returning to Missouri, she met and married William D. Taber on June 22, 1940 and they remained a devoted couple for over 65 years. Bill and Ruby were married until his death on December 5, 2005.
Bill and Ruby moved to Twin Falls in 1945 and to Caldwell in 1956, where Ruby worked at the Falk's ID Store.
Ruby was a member of the First Christian Church of Caldwell and Dorcus Circle of the church.
Ruby was a very civic-minded woman working and belonging to a number of fraternal organizations. She was a devoted member for 52 years of the Order of The Eastern Star where she served Hermosa Chapter #32 of Caldwell as Worthy Matron in 1968 and was secretary for 25 years. She also served the Grand Chapter of Idaho OES in many capacities, including Grand Representative of Nova Scotia in Idaho. She loved and was intensively interested in the welfare of our youth, especially girls, as evidenced by her serving as Guardian of Bethel #8 International Order of Job's Daughters of Caldwell and as Grand Guardian of The International Order of Job's Daughters of Idaho when she had no children of her own.
Ruby was also a member of Iris Temple #40 Boise Daughters of the Nile and Gem of the Mountain #5 Rebekah Lodge of Caldwell serving as the Noble Grand and was a former member of PEO.
Even though failing health the last few years limited her activities, Ruby was always interested and kept in touch with activities in and around Caldwell and at Autumn Wind, where she was a resident, as well as the Taber and Sanders Families.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Taber; her parents, Alice and William Sanders; her father, LaVell Hatman; her brother, Howard H. Hatman of OK; and sisters, Jewel Sanders of Washington, DC and Paulyne Molyneux of Idaho Falls, ID.
Surviving siblings and their families are: Opal (Bill) Hummel, Idaho Falls, ID; Josephine Peterson, Buffalo, MO; Reola (Charles) Vail, Eagle, ID; Robert J. Sanders, St. Petersburg, FL; and Melvin (Leona) Sanders, Wichita, KS.
Ruby will be missed by her many friends and associates and especially by her siblings and their families.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 17, at 2 p.m. at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, with viewing at the chapel on Sunday, Sept. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell, Idaho.
