Ira White
Ira Thomas 'Tommy' White, 80, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Hayti, Mo.
Born Aug. 15, 1922, in Cooter, Mo., son of the late William Thomas and Cleopatrica Cranford White, he was a U.S. veteran, serving in WWII, worked in bridge maintenance and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville. He owned and operated a bait shop.
Survivors include one daughter, Janice Dugger and husband, John, of Collierville, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Johnna Vaughan, of Collierville and Justin Dugger, of Meridian, Miss.; three great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Grayson Vaughan, of Collierville and Justin Dugger, of Meridian and one sister, Pauline Razor, of Blytheville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, with Bro. John Earl Dunavant officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Chrles Dugger, Gordon, James and T.C. Razor, Larry Griffin, Joe VanCleve and Charles Stewart.
Margaret Wright
Bert Margaret "Mimi" Wright of Kennett passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, October 31st, 2002. She was 87.
Bert Margaret was the only child of Frank Arthur Maines and Bert Allen Maines McNeely. She was born on September 15th, 1915 in San Antonio, Texas. Bert Margaret spent her formative years in Thayer, Missouri. After her high school graduation in 1933 she moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she worked for Ark-Mo Power and Union Planters. Bert Margaret was a career woman before career women existed. In addition to her full time job, she was a Red Cross nurse volunteer and she could be found most weekends dancing the night away at The Skyway atop the Peabody Hotel.
In 1943, after a whirlwind courtship, Bert Margaret married
Frederick Berkley Maus who was a salesman for Lima Locomotive Shovel and Crane Division. Fred and Bert Margaret lived all over the Southeastern U.S. including Dallas, Atlanta, Memphis, Tulsa, and Birmingham. When Fred was diagnosed with cancer, she went back to work full-time and cared for Fred until his death.
In early 1962, Bert Margaret caught the eye of longtime bachelor, William Vernon Wright of Kennett. Vernon fell head-over-heels for her and they were married
on July 13, 1962. She lived in Kennett for over 40 years, longer than any other place she called home. She was an avid reader and traveler; she loved the theatre, the beach, and big-band music; she took great pride in her home, her garden, and her antique furniture. She especially loved spending the winter months at her home in Naples, Florida. Bert Margaret's greatest joy and delight was her beloved daughter, Sara Ann.
Bert Margaret was a member of the United Methodist Church of Kennett, the Royal Poinciana Country Club of Naples, Florida, the Kennett Country Club, Kennett Garden Club, Kennett PEO, and until her death, she was the CEO of Wright Farms of Kennett and Poplar Bluff.
Bert Margaret was preceded in death by her two loving husbands and a plethora of friends and family. She was survived by her daughter Sara Ann Maus Wright of Thayer, MO; granddaughter Camille Berkley Sexton Lockhart and her husband Alan W. Lockhart of Springfield, MO; grandson William Kent Sexton of Dallas, Texas; grandson Matthew Wright Pylant of New York, New York; great-granddaughter Olivia Berkley Lockhart of Springfield, MO; niece Alice Ann Wright of Kennett; sister-in-law and dearest friend Marilyn Maus of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law Gertrude Maus of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; her housekeeper of 40 years and dear friend, Laura Pulliam of Kennett; numerous nieces and nephews; and innumerous friends that she considered to be as close as family; and her dog, Lucky.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to one of Bert Margaret's favorite charities: The American Cancer Society, the National Alzheimer's Association, or the September 11th Fund of your choice.
Cletus Barnett
Cletus Wayne Barnett, 67, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 1 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden.
Adam Goodall, Sr.
Adam Goodall, Sr., 83, of Malden, Mo. died Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Oct. 30, 1918 in Indianola, Miss. to the late Luke and Emma Goodall, he was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
On May 7, 1940, in Moro, Ark., he married
Ozella Davis, who preceded him in death on August, 8, 1986.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Ora Barber.
Survivors include four sons, Charles Goodall, and wife Carol, of Cleveland, Ohio, Willie J. Goodall, of Champaign, Ill., Adam Goodall, Jr., of Dallas, Texas and Albert Goodall of West Memphis, Ark.; three daughters, Alma Dobbins, of Malden, Mary McCray of Garland, Texas and Patricia Goodall of Malden; 28 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Gene Perkins officiating.
Burial will follow at the Macedonia cemetery.
Lois Gray
Lois Louise Gray, 78, of St. Charles, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 30 at St. Charles.
Born Saturday, August 30, 1924, to the late Carson and Dora Goodson Smith, she was a homemaker and a Christian.

Survivors include four sons, Ronnie Gray, of Texas, Terry and Harold Gray, both of Terre Haute, Ind. and Gary Gray of Troy, Mo.; six daughters, Nancy Marshal of St. Charles, Ellen Eddleman, of Des Moines, Iowa; Linda Golightly, of Overland, Mo., Lisa Fowler, of Cooter, Mo., Tina Zykan, of Warrenton, Mo. and Kim Meyer of Troy; five brothers, Claude Smith of St. Ann, Mo., Gene Smith, of Overland, Mo., Gaylon Smith of Caudleville, Mo., James Smith, of Terre Haute, Richard Smith of St. Paul,; one sister, Betty Walker, of Mesa, Ariz., 16 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele, Mo. with the Rev. Gerald Moss officiating.
Burial followed at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Vernie McCarthy
Vernie McCarthy, 74, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, Nov. 2 at Gideon Care Center in Gideon, Mo.

Dennis Morris
Dennis J. Morris, 78, of Bernie, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 1 at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter, Mo.
Born April 13, 1924 at Charter Oak, Mo., son of the late Dentist and Myrtle Greer Morris, he was a retired farmer and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Bernie.
Survivors include four sons, Frankie Morris of Lilbourn, Mo., Dennis Morris, Jr., of Mountain View, Mo., Michael Todd Morris and Darrel Wayne Morris, both of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three daughters, Rita Gibbs of Mountain View, Lottie Mae Cannady of Malden, Mo. and Patricia Joanna Gee of Dexter; one brother, Frank Morris, of Big Sandy, Tenn.; one sister, Lottie Wooley of Florida, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation were held today, Nov. 3 at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at the Rainey Mathis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bernie cemetery.
Wayne Barnett
Clettuis Wayne Barnett, 67, of Malden, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born April 29, 1935, in Hollywood, Mo., son of the late Theordore and Helen Alberson Barnett, he was a member of the Church of Christ in Bernie, Mo.
On June 4, 1970, in Houston, Texas, he married
Mary Ellen Walker, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Douglas Barnett and wife, Denise, of Risco, Mo. and John David Barnett, of Malden; three brothers, Alton Barnett, of Bakersfield, Mo., Wallace Barnett, of Perryville, Mo. and Keith Barnett, of Jefferson City, Mo.; four sisters, Glenda Gardner and Nina Baker, both of Berger, Mo., Eloise Henson, of Ft. Myers, Fla. and LaGuin Barnett, of Malden and one granddaughter, Hannah Nicole Barnett, of Risco.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Tyler Wayne Barnett; four brothers, Harold, Bobby, Clyde and Roger Dale Barnett and three sisters, Virginia Vancil, Patricia Chiles and Emma Barnett.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with Stan Dauck officiating.
Burial was in the Rosewood cemetery at Malden.
Eva Caraway
Eva Lucille Caraway, 86, of Kennett, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born May 19, 1917, in Holland, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Shields L. Weaver and Mammie Jackson.
She maried James Caraway, who preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1983. She was also preceded in death by one son, James Glen Caraway and five brothers, Hershel, Thirston, Anderson, Leland and Miles Weaver.
Survivors also include three sons, Randall Caraway, of Huntsville, Ark., Kenny Caraway, of St. Louis, Mo. and Miles Caraway, of Kennett; four daughters, Barbara Caraway, of Kennett, Wilma Palmer and Janie Wheatley, both of Searcy, Ark. and Joann McDonald, of St. Louis; one brother, Donald Weaver, of Ellington, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Calvary Asembly of God Church with the Rev. Dan Leggett officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele, Mo.
Pallbearers were Dennis, Travis, Ryan, Trey and Randy Caraway and Donnie and Jason Wheatley and Chris Glidewell.
Honorary pallbearers were Keith, David, Tony, Michael and Otis Caraway, Kurt Yount and Robbie and Mark Glidewell.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett was in charge of arrangements.
G.W. Clay
G.W. 'Cotton' Clay, 63, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at his residence.
Born March 10, 1939, in Wynburg, Tenn., son of the late George and Hester White Clay, he was a cotton farmer and a member of the Braggadocio Baptist Church.
On Feb. 25, 1961, in East Prairie, Mo., he married
Louise Duke, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Terry Clay and wife, Deronda, of Lebanon, Va. and Jerry Clay and wife, Kathy, of Ridgely, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Jessica and Chelsea Clay, both of Lebanon and Hope and Shayna Clay, both of Ridgely; one brother, Tom Clay, of Fort Polk, La. and two sisters, Katie George, of Hayti, Mo. and Janie Hawks, of Tulare, Calif.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Braggadocio Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Ault officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Max Bryant, Noel Dudley, Russell Gilmore, Damon Johnson, Joe Tate and William Walker.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
Betty Collier
Betty Collier, 97, of Kennett, died today, Tuesday, Nov, 5, 2002, at Heritage Nursing Center in Kennett.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
E.V. Ginn
Rev. E.V. 'Jack' Ginn, 79, of Batesville, Miss., formerly of Rector, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Baptist Memorial of North, Miss., in Oxford, Miss.
Born March 26, 1923, in Rector, son of the late Emmanuel V. and Stella R. Ward Ginn, he was a retired Baptist minister and a member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Synder Ginn, of Batesville; two daughters, Sharon R. Ginn Grubbs, of Jackson, Miss. and Iris K. Ginn Campbell, of Bruce, Miss.; three sons, Terry Lynn Ginn, of Memphis, Tenn., Randy Ginn, of Flint, Mich. and Tim Ginn, of Batesville; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gayle Ann Ginn.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the Wells Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville with the Rev. Terry Tribble officiating.
Burial was in the Shady Grove Baptist Church cemetery at Batesville.
