Mary Beacham
Mary Magdalene Beacham, 83, of Bernie, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Feb. 9, 1919, in Darden, Tenn., daughter of the late Patrick Henry and Nomie Haggard Wise, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bernie.
On Aug. 19, 1936, in Senath, Mo., she married
Lawson Snider Beacham, who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1993. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Presley and Hershel Wise and P.H. Wise, Jr. and two sisters, Lossie Henry and Adelene Wise.
Survivors include one son Lawson S. Beacham, Jr., of Hot Springs, Ark.;two daughters, Virginia A. Williams, of Bentonville, Ark. and Dorothy M. Ellsworth, of Dexter; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 22, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel in Bernie with the Rev. Gerald Dale Shearon officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Bobby Burdin
Bobby Burdin, 48, of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at his residence.

Alva Ford
Alva 'Buck' Ford, 88, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Hornersville, Mo., died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 22, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Hornersville.
Funeral aervices will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial will follow at the Horner cemetery in Hornersville.
Lola Hopper
Lola Elizabeth Hopper, 86, of Arbyrd, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at the Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.
Born Sept. 29, 1916, in Lacrosse, Kan., daughter of the late John Forrest and Mary Elizabeth West Hamilton, she was a member of the Church of Christ in Arbyrd.
On Oct. 12, 1935, in Cardwell, Mo., she married
Marlin Hopper, who preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1991. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Garfield and Joe Hamilton and two sisters, May Rush and Millie Robertson.
Survivors include one sister, Goldie Allison, of Arbyrd and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with J.T. Ashby officiating.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements.
Jimmy Nipper
Jimmy Nipper, 70, of Cardwell, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, at Pine Bluff, Ark.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Arbyrd, Mo.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Cardwell cemetery.
Dolly Samuel
Dolly Ann Samuel, 44, of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Jan. 7, 1958, in Walbash, Ark., daughter of Odessia Parr Samuel, of Kennett and the late Lemon C. Samuel, she had been employed at Brown Shoe company in Caruthersville.
Survivors also include two daughters, Roxanne and Takesha lee, both of Kennett; two sisters, Carmella Simms and husband, Cleveland, of Nashville, Tenn. and Loretta Amos, and husband, Michael, of Kennett; one brother, Lemon C. Samuel, Jr., of Kennett; two grandchildren, KeWanee Lee and Darzackeon Kelly and fiancee, Cleophus Dunighan, of Kennett.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Vinnie Samuel; one brother, James Samuel and her grandparrents.
Wake services will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 22, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. McCadeney officiating.
Burial will follow at the Evergreen cemetery in Hayti.

Mildred Mary Sanders, 68, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., died today, Friday, Nov. 22, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare North in Poplar Bluff.

Carolyn Workman
Carolyn Workman, 71, of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Robert Carnell
Robert Carnell, 74, of Kennett, died Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born July 10, 1928, in Henderson, Tenn., he was a son of the late Harrison and Francis Essary Carnell.
On December 31, 1948, he married
Ileen Danels who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Ricky and Jeff Carnell of Kennett; four daughters, Barbara Burgess of Holcomb, Mo., Judy Carnell of Kennett, Ronda Young of Doniphan, Mo. and Karen Zimmermann of Canal Fulton, Ohio; one brother, J.T. Carnell of Lawton, Okla. and two sisters, Sally Daniel of Augusta, Mich. and Pauline Jackson of Kennett; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild . Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, November 10, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers are Dwayne Smith, Wilford Stone, Dwight Blankenship, Jimmy Blankenship, Randal Scott and Paul Scott.
Honorary pallbearers are Mark Ford, Carl Farris, Carl Seats and Harold Michael.
Jimmie Cowell
Jimmie Carl Cowell, 59, of Clarkton, Mo., died Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born January 9, 1943, in Gideon, Mo, a son of the late Sam N. and Lela Gilkey Cowell, he was retired from the General Motors plant in Flint, Mich. after 31 years. He was affiliated with the Missionary Baptist Church.
On October 26, 1960, in Flint, he married
Ardella Hooser, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include three sons, Jimmy C. Cowell, Jr. and wife, Cindy, and Joe D. Cowell Sr. and wife, Lori, all of Flint and Jack N. Cowell Sr. and wife, Ana, of Davison, Mich.; one daughter, Loma Sullivan of St. Louis; three brothers, Frankie M. Cowell of Mammoth Springs, Ark., Tommy L. Cowell of Gaines, Mich., and Billy S. Cowell of Waterford, Mich.; four sisters, Gladys Brinkley of St. Louis, Nellie Henson of Memphis, Tenn., Ida B. Alexander of Clarkston, Mich., and Cora Gregory of Malden, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Charlie Cowell.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, November 10, in the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, November 11, in the Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery in Malden.
James Johnson
James Brady Johnson, 57, of Senath, Mo., died Friday, November 8, 2002, at Three Rivers Healthcare in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, November 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Senath.
Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Loyd Shaffer, Sr.
Loyd Wayne Shaffer, Sr., 55, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at his home.
Born February 3, 1947, in Vanduser, Mo., a son of the late Claude Dallas and Tressie Mae Petty Shaffer, he attended school in Oran, Mo. and Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau Mo. He was a teacher and taught in Caruthersville 22 years. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church, served on the VNA advisory board and was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association.
On June 26, 1970, in Perkins, Mo., he married
Pamela Dawn Lacy, who survives of the family home.
Other survivors include one son, Loyd Wayne Shaffer, Jr. and wife, Sabra, of Panama Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Heather Marie Eledge and her husband, Bobby, of Madison, Ala.; one brother, Dallas Shaffer of Morley, Mo.; sister-in-law, Patty Murphy of Cape Girardeau and a brother-in-law, Jim Eftink of Oran.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Friday, November 8, at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. James Adams and Mickey Moody officiating.
Burial was in Maple cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Cecil Johnson, Bobby Gibson, Vaughn Treece, Tom Tidwell, Scott Carter and Billy Hopkins.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of services.
Ruby Sims
Ruby Lee Sims, 99, of Steele, Mo., died Tuesday, November 5, 2002, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born, Saturday, August 22, 1903, in Vaden, Miss., a daughter of the late Tillman Morgan, she was a homemaker and attended the United Baptist Church in Gobler, Mo.
In 1921 she married
Tillman Sims who preceded her in death in January 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Lillie Fox of Chicago, Ill. and granddaughter, Selina Sims of Arlington, Texas.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. at United Baptist Church with the Rev. J.B. Johnson officiating.
Burial was in the United Baptist cemetery at Gobler.
