Almer Gardner
Rev. Almer C. Gardner, 91, of Kennett, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born Sept. 5, 1911, in Hornbeak, Tenn., he was the son of the late Avery Clayton and Mamie Moore Gardner.
On Feb. 24, 1935, he married
Madelyn Baugh, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Donald Ray Gardner, of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Alma Jeanne Sweeney, of Kennett and Karen Jo Bates, of Murray, Ky.; two brothers, Avery Clayton Gardner, Jr., of Hayti and Phillip Gardner, of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Daphna Richardson, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; eight grandchildren and seven great-greandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Gail and John Christy Gardner and two brothers in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dale Rickman and Don Crawford officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett. Pallbearers were Eddie Smith, Howard Tittle, Hershel Tucker, Jimmie Rasberry, John H. Smith and Bud Sweeney.
Honorary pallbearers were Jim Akers, Jack Allen, Don Slatton, Bud Evans, Doug Clinton, Gene Lancaster and Bob Medlock.
Glenda Gibbons
Glenda Lou Gibbons, 71, of Caruthersville, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at River Oaks Care Center in Caruthersville.
Born Aug. 21, 1931, in Clarkton, Mo., daughter of the late Raymond H. and Imogene Gum Clayton, she was former owner and operator of the West End Package Store and Westgate Hotel in Kennett and of the Methodist faith. On July 4, 1982, in Dyersburg, Tenn., she married
Walter Laurence Gibbons, who preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1997. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Clayton, Jr.
Survivors include one sister, Sue Swinger and husband, Terry, of Caruthersville; one nephew, Anthony Swinger, of Indianapolis, Ind. and one niece, Teleigha Clayton, of Jackson, Tenn.
No services were held.
Burial was in the Stanfield Cemtery at Clarkton.
Landess Funeral Home of Malden, Mo. was in charge of arrangements.
Vickie McNew Jones
Vickie McNew Jones, 33, of Bryan, Texas, formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002.
Born Feb. 9, 1969, in Dyersburg, Tenn., she was the daughter of Leon and Dorothy McNew, of Kennett.
She married
Darrell Jones, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one daughter, Taylor Jones, of Bryan; two step-sons, D.J. and Aaron Jones, both of Bryan; three brothers, Tommy McNew and wife, Terry, of Kennett, Ricky McNew and wife, Vickie, of Kurvin, Texas and Michael McNew and wife, Sandi, of Blytheville, Ark. and four sisters, Debbie Haynie and husband, Mike, Sharon McNamara, Peggy Snipes and husband, Tracy and Lisa Ross and husband, Tommy, all of Kennett.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Danny McNew. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at the Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan.
Carolyn Workman
Carolyn Williams Workman, 71, of Kennett, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Baptist East Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.
Born July 14, 1931, in Kennett, daughter of the late John A. and Lyle Vardell Williams, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Kennett.
On Dec. 30, 1953, she married
George Workman who survives. Survivors also include one son, Dana Workman and wife, Cyndi, of Collierville, Tenn., one daughter, Nancy Foy and husband, Brent, of Olive Branch, Miss.; one sister, Kathryn Hunter and husband, Bob, of Kennett and five grandchildren, Skylar, Sutton and Satchel Workman and Mallory and Logan Foy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Paul Lanning and Gary Mayes officiating.
Burial was in Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Frank Williams, Mike Hunter, Donald "T-Bone" Hall, Rick Jones, Carlos Woodard and Omer Gaskins.
James Childers
James Dwight Childers, 50, formerly of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Butner, N.C.
Born Aug. 6, 1952, at Deering, Mo., he was the son of Darlene Anglin Childers, of Hayti and the late Edgar Clinton Childers.
Survivors also include one brother, Kevin Edgar Childers, of Elsberry, Mo. and four sisters, Carlotta Jane Goddin, of Lake City, Ark., Dorothy Ann Beamer, of Winfield, Mo., Debra Sue Moore, of St. Louis, Mo. and Judith Faye Childers, of Hayti.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 23, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. James Robert Welch officiating.
Burial was in the Portageville cemetery at Portageville, Mo.
Pallbearers were Robert Beamer, Kevin Childers, Gail Welch, Kevin Childers, Jr., Larry Jordan and Marty Culver.
J.T. Bradshaw
J.T. "Truman" Bradshaw, 96, of Holcomb, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at his residence.
Born March 13, 1906, in Holcomb, son of the late Scott and Laura Knots Bradshaw, he was a member of Frisbee General Baptist Church.
On August 7, 1994, he married
Sinnie Bell Hollis Floyd who survives.
Other survivors include two sons Howard Bradshaw of Holcomb and Larry Bradshaw of Jonesboro, Ark.; a step-son, Walter Floyd of Ponca City, Fla.; one daughter, Imogene Brennon of St. Louis; one step-daughter, Christina Morgan of Glenwood, N. Mex.; two brothers, Jewel Bradshaw of White Oak, Mo. and Junior Bradshaw of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Ethel King of Paragould, Ark.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Emma and Zilapha; four brothers, Jessie, Luther, Albert and Harry Bradshaw and one sister, Nell Coninger.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 2, in McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Charles Thomas Crane and Hubert Robinson officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers are David, Phillip, Steve, Danny, Deris and Harry Bradshaw Jr.
Warren Beacham
Warren G. Beacham, 82, of Bernie, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Oct. 30, 1920, at Kennett, a son of the late John Wesley and Ida Francis Snider Beacham, he was a farmer.
On June 29, 1940, at Senath, Mo., he married
Wilma Pascal, who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Gary Beacham of Bernie; one daughter, Judy Biddle of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawson, Leonard and George Beacham and three sisters, Beatrice Brogdlen, Nancy Beacham and Norma Jean Arnold.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 2, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home Chapel in Bernie with the Rev. O.H. Brooks officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
James Crawford
James E. Crawford, 67, of Loves Park, Ill., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at his home.
Born June 29, 1939, in Kennett, a son of the late Lillian and Elton Crawford, he worked for Sundstrand Corp. for 25 years before retiring.
On Dec. 1, 1959, he married
Wanda Allen who survives.
Other survivors include three daughters, Tila Young and husband, Norm, Attonnia Nicosia and husband, Dominic and Sileena Crawford; a son, Jim Crawford; brothers, Archie Crawford and wife, Mary, Darrell Crawford and wife, Joyce, Johnny Crawford and wife, Wilda, David Crawford, Tommy Crawford and wife, Darlene and Samuel Crawford; sisters, Minnie Roberts and husband, Harold, Lovell Rahmy, Doris Haywood and husband, Doyle; grandsons, Dominic and Nickalus Nicosia; granddaughters, Tileena Hendershot and Trinette Crawford; two great-grandsons, Dhjarum Crawford and Trevor Hendershot.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jeremy Nicosia; brothers, Frank and Kenneth Crawford and a sister, Gloanna.
Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, Sunday, March 2, at the Sunset Funeral Home in Rockford, Ill.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation rites will be accorded.
Jeff McDavid
Jeff McDavid, 35, of Clarkton, Mo. and formerly of Portageville, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 28, at his home.
Arrangements are incomplete with the DeLisle Funeral Home of Portageville.
Marie Tosh
Marie Tosh, 72, of Hayti, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003.
Born Thursday, March 20, 1930, in Weakley County, Tenn., a daughter of the late Clarence and Rena James Casteel, she was a homemaker.
On Oct. 19, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., she married
James Tosh, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jimmy Tosh of Hayti and Terry Tosh of Greenbrier, Ark.; two daughters, Cindy Tosh of Puxico, Mo. and Clara Tosh of Hayti; two brothers, Clarence Casteel of Bismarck, Mo. and Ted Casteel of Robertsville, Mo., one sister, Ester Pearl Poole of Koshkonong, Mo.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Casteel and one sister, Clara Greer Rinks.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 2, at Bradhaw Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial will be in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Lester Bailey
Lester Paul Bailey, 90, of Hayti, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Hayti.
Born July 28, 1912, in Senath, Mo., son of the late Robert and Mattie Lee Massey Bailey, he was a self-employed businessman and deacon and founding member of the Hayti Calvary Baptist Church.
On March 26, 1934, in Senath, he married
Opal Dinkens, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two daughters, Dorothy Laverne Duggan, of Memphis, Tenn. and Shirley Ann McDermott, of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, W.T. and James Bailey, both of Senath; three sisters, Willie Mae Shown, Obera Long and Betty Jean; 12 grandchildren, Russell, Charles, Michael and Jenny Duggan, Jennifer Shannon, James Paul, Lynn, Robert Christopher and Jonathan McDermott, Elaine Patrick, Sarah Chalk and Anita Lasiter and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 3, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Dr. Ralph Bruce, Dr. Mike Melton and the Rev. Jerry Baker officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Jonathan, Robert Christopher and Lynn McDermott, Billy Ray Bailey, Dennis Shannon and Don Patrick.
