Mary Chaffin
Mary B. Chaffin, 78, of Cabool, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Mo.
Born Dec. 3, 1924, in Festus, Mo., daughter of the late Thomas Ogie and Mary Barbara Martin Walker, she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sons, Roger Turner and wife, Darlene, of Caruthersville, Mo. and Larry Turner and wife, Debbie, of Alexander, Ark.; four daughters, Patricia Ross and husband, Bill, of Londen, Ark., Betty Jean Adams, of Perryville, Mo., Judy Tucker and husband, Jim, of Little Rock, Ark. and Barbara Moore and husband, Mark, of Cabool; 77 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, richard Alan Jamison and one daughter, Carol Sue Flowers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.
Pallbearers were Robert Flowers, John Elliott, Dale and Steven Turner, Billy R. Ross, Jr. and C.J. Bates.
Honorary pallbearers were Allen Brown, Floyd Schoolcraft and Chris Tensley.
Ethel Denney
Ethel Denney, 75, of Las Cruces, N.M., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at her residence.
Born Dec. 25, 1927, in Kennett, daughter of the late Joe and Lottie Ford, she worked for the phone company, worked for Farm Bureau and was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was involved with the Brownies, Girl Scouts, Rainbow, Cub Scouts, Little League and was a former 4-H leader.
Survivors include her children, Kelley S. Green and husband, Bob, of Los Linas, N.M., Karson G. Bruce and husband, Ben, of Reno, Nev., Bill M. Denney, of Las Cruces and David F. Denney and wife, Danelle, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two brothers, Joe Ford and wife, Bert and Leon Ford, all of Kennett; three sisters, Wilma Blanton, Peggy Landess and Patsy Ford, all of Kennett; two aunts, Irene Ford Smith, of Kennett and Geraldine Ford Harwell, of Sikeston, Mo. and six grandchildren, Trevor and Trenton Green, Jenna Bruce, Cameron and Connor Denney and Georgette Olana.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Getz Funeral Home Chapel in Las Cruces with Pastor Gorton Smith and Smokey Blanton officiating.

Henry Foster
Henry Hugo Foster, 72, of Kennett, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Jan. 26, 1931, in Senath, Mo., son of the late Hugo Helmer and Betty Maud Donaldson Foster, he was employed at Kohlfold Distributors, Uniroyal, Uarco and Coca Cola and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Senath. He was an active member of Ducks Unlimited and a former member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
On August 28, 1959, he married
Jean Copeland, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Glenn Martin Foster, of Holcomb, Mo. and Randy Neal Copeland, of Glenpool, Okla.; one sister, Della Barrientos, of Lyons, Kan.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, James Foster.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 4, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dewight Harrison officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers were John Paul Clark, Butch Hendrix, Phil Williams, J.R. Early, Bob Paine and Lester Forbes.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Coates, David Clark, Roy Green, Phillip Russom, Wayne Pelts, Hubert Snipes and Joe Ford.
Jeffery McDavid
Jeffery Wayne McDavid, 35, of Clarkton, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Clarkton.
Born April 14, 1967, in Paris, Tenn., son of Donald Richard and Patricia Crowe McDavid, of Portageville, Mo., he had worked at Plastene Supply in Portageville.
On May 26, 2000, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Dawn "Shelly" Simpson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include one son, Brett Allen McDavid, of Leoma, Tenn. and one step-son, Kyle Mann, of Clarkton; one daughter, Laura Elizabeth McDavid, of Leoma and one step-daughter, Whitney Mann, of Clarkton; a grandfather, Herbert Brewer, of Imboden, Ark. and two brothers, Andrew Martin McDavid, of Jackson, Tenn. and Christopher Alan McDavid, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 3, at the Delisle Funeral Home Chapel in Portageville with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial was in the Stanfield cemetery at Clarkton.
Pallbearers were Chris, Chad, Joseph, Tony and Shawn Simpson and Eric Russell.
Honorary pallbearer was Steve Simpson.
Gary Rose
Gary Don "Giz" Rose, 55, of Farmington, Mo., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Parkland Health Center in Farmington.
Born April 16, 1947, in Senath, he was the son of the late Archie and Audrey Walls Rose.
Survivors include one sister, Debbie Rose, of Ormond, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Mary K. Rose, of Senath and three nieces, Tonia Swink, of Senath, Marnie Rose, of Pensacola, Fla. and Brianna Rose, of Ormond.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Mack Rose.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 4, at the Lulu cemetery in Senath with Gregg Pollock officiating.
Pallbearers were Robby Shrum, John Raines, David Keen, Gary Renfrow, C.B. Anderson, David Harris and Robbie Shrum. Marie Tosh
Marie Tosh, 72, of Hayti, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003.
Born Thursday, March 20, 1930, in Weakley County, Tenn., daughter of the late Clarence and Rena James Casteel, she was a homemaker.
On Oct. 19, 1952, in Piggott, Ark., she married
James Tosh, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Jimmy Tosh of Hayti and Terry Tosh of Greenbrier, Ark.; two daughters, Cindy Tosh Shaver, of Puxico, Mo. and Clara Tosh of Hayti; two brothers, Clarence Casteel of Bismarck, Mo. and Ted Casteel of Robertsville, Mo., one sister, Ester Pearl Poole of Koshkonong, Mo.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin Casteel and one sister, Clara Greer Rinks.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Adam and Alan Huff, Brian Novak, David Greer, Jerry Rabey and Barry Casteel.
Honorary pallbearers were Henry Bolan and Matt Greer.
Gladys Smith
Gladys Faye Smith, 63, of Clarkton, Mo., died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon, Mo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
Annie Clayton
Annie Murl Clayton, 66, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.
Born Dec. 23, 1936, in Morrilton, Ark., daughter of the late Spurley and Delia Greenlaw Payne, she was a member of the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Malden.
On Aug. 31, 1970, she married
Eugene Clayton, who preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1979. She was also preceded in death by one son, Leroy Payne; one grandson, Jeremy Payne and 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four daughters, Florence Roebuck and Patricia Payne, both of Champaign, Ill., Rebecca Austin, of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Diane Robinson, of Malden; one son, Ralph Payne, of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Effie Walker and Betty Jewel Payne, both of Malden and Teresa Johnson, of Champaign; two brothers, Charles C. Payne, of Malden and Willie Lee Payne, of St. Louis, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Malden with the Rev. L.L. Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at the Simmons cemetery in Catron, Mo.
Ann Dunavant
Ann Frances Barnett Dunavant, 82, of Caruthersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at a hospice facility in Las Vegas, Nev.
Born Sept. 7, 1920, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Herman Earl and Ann Ada Mansfield Barnett, she worked at the Pemiscot County Courthouse and the J.C. Penney Co. She was a 4H leader and a member of the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville.
On Dec. 2, 1938, she married
John William Dunavant, who preceded her in death on March 7, 1992. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Barnett Newsom and June Barnett Howard.
Survivors include her children, Jo Ann Manz and husband, Charles, of Caruthersville, Nancy Carol Grigory and husband, Ed, of Henderson, Nev. and Rev. John Earl Dunavant and wife, Barbara, of Holland, Mo.; three granddaughters, Lisa Carol Carr, of Fresno. Calif., Malisa Ann Luna, of Caruthersville and Joy Bell Evans, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; three grandsons, Charles C. Manz, Jr., of Caruthersville, John Jacob Manz, of Alamo, Texas and Wyatt Scott Grigory, of McDonough, Ga.; two sisters, Peggy Petty, of Memphis, Tenn. and LaVerne Maners, of Paragould, Ark.; two brothers, Clay Edward Barnett and wife, Mae and Lester Albert Barnett and wife, Mary, all of Rutherfordton, N.C. and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating. Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Rocky and Rick Dunavant, Matt Luna, John Manz, Kevin Evans and Charles C. Manz, Jr.

Cathern Earnheart
Cathern Ballard Earnheart, 79, of Brighton, Tenn., died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at her residence.
Born Sept. 22, 1923, in Parma, Mo., daughter of the late John William and Lydia Grace Hughes Seets, she was a member of the First Asembly of God Church in Malden, Mo.
On July 4, 1942, she married
Edgar Lee Ballard, who preceded her in death on March 30, 1976. She later married
Alvis Earnheart, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Ballard.
Survivors include four daughters, Ella Walton, of Malden, Glenda Foster, of Brighton, Ann Allen, of Catron, Mo. and Kathy Neal, of Luling, La.; one son, William Ballard, of Parkin, Ark.; two sisters, Pearl Brown and Georgia Higgins; one brother, Franklin Seets; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, March 6, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Burial will follow at the Rosewood cemetery in Malden.
