Hazel Small
Hazel Small, 81, of Kennett, formerly of Greensburg, Pa., died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Born July 29, 1921, in Bragg City, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Bernie L. and Opal Hampton Dickie.
She married
Edward Small, who prececded her in death on Oct. 29, 1995. She was also preceded in death by one half-sister, Christine Hughes.
Survivors include her step-mother, Flora Dickie, of Kennett; one daughter, Pauline Hatton, of New York; one brother, Robert Dickie, of Kennett; one half-brother, Dwight Eugene Dickie, of Cabot, Ark.; two half-sisters, Lucille Dickie, of Kennett and Margie Lee Mize, of Piedmont, Mo. and two grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, March 21, at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Gary Gelsinger officiating.
Pallbearers were Frank Brown, Tommy Tate, Cremer Jackson, Mike Scoggins, Kris Johnson and Dan Carlisle.
Robert Bertholomey
Robert J. Bertholomey, 56, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele, Mo.
Born Oct. 22, 1946, in Caruthersville, the son of the late Paul Grubbs and Gertrude Irene Bertholomey, he attended schools in Caruthersville and Chicago and worked as an orderly in nursing homes.
He is survived by a half-brother, Wesley Smith of Caruthersville and uncle, Fred Bertholomey of Caruthersville, nephews and nieces.
Memorial services were 2 p.m. Friday, march 21, in the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with Pastor Raymond Redden officiating.
Robert Campbell
Robert Lee Campbell, 78, of Wappapello, Mo., formerly of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Wappapello.
Born Aug. 7, 1924, in Arbyrd, Mo., son of the late Harvey Franklin and Pearl Mae Jenkins Campbell, he attended school in Canalou. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 8, 1948 to July 30, 1950. He was a janitor and attended the Assembly of God Church.
On Nov. 15, 1945, in Dexter, Mo., he married
Eunice Marie Gregory.
Survivors include his former wife, now of Sikeston, Mo.; two daughters, Sheila Kay Hays of Wappapello and Susan Frances Hays of Sikeston; one sister, Ella Irene Smith of Canalou, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two children, Rose Marie Johnson and Norman Lee Campbell; two brothers, Charlie Andrew Campbell and Archie Glen Campbell and one sister, Evelyn Adeline Landers.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, in H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville, with the Rev. Dan Doty officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, was in the Gregory cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were David Worley, Chris Polley, Stephen Polley, Kevin L. Hensley, Mark Keezle and Larry Johnson.
Marvin Gould
Dr. Marvin "Wayne" Gould, 66, of Marmaduke, Ark., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born May 30, 1936, in Rector, Ark., he was a Methodist minister, former principal at Marmaduke School, superintendent at Greenway, Ark. School, principal at Delaplaine, Ark. High School, college professor at Kingsville, Texas and Southeast Missouri State University.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy, of Marmaduke; two daughters, Sherrie Gould of Marmaduke and Angie Batchelor of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother, George Stroud of Bartlesville, Okla.; three sisters, Joy Gregory of Paragould, Elva Janes of Memphis, Tenn., and Donna Shatley of Marmaduke; two grandchildren, Alex Gould of Marmaduke and Jackson Batchelor of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Stroud; a brother, James Stroud and a sister, Melba Stroud.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 23, at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Rector, with the Revs. Everett Isom and Rex Darling officiating.
Burial will be in Ramers Chapel near Rector.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Don Thompson, Donald Gibbs, Dewayne Boone, Randy Wyatt, Devon Hampton and Ray Hale.
Mary McMillian
Mary Ann McMillian, 71, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Arrangements are incomplete with Landess Funeral Home of Malden.
Ronnie Troutt
Ronnie Troutt, 62, of Holcomb, Mo., died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.
Born Aug. 28, 1940, in Missouri, he was the son of the late W.L. and Bertha A. Key Troutt. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and J.T. Troutt.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Belle of Southgate, Mich. and Gary Troutt of Tulsa, Okla.; one daughter, Tina Troutt of Holcomb and six grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, March 23, in the McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Jack Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Sister Marie Coyle
Sister Charles Marie Coyle, an Ursuline Sister of Mount Saint Joseph of Maple Mount, Ky., died March 22, 2003, at Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse. She was in her 74th year of religious life.
A native of New Haven, Ky., Sister Charles Marie was an educator for 60 years. She taught at St. Teresa School, Glennonville, 1932-36. She also ministered as teacher at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, Maple Mount, and as principal and teacher in the Archdiocese of Louisville, Ky., and in New Mexico, where she served for 38 years. She retired to the Motherhouse in 1992.
Survivors include four half-sisters, Sister Theresa Coyle, SL, Rose Marie Coyle, and Bernadette Downs, all of Louisville, and Ethel Rita Gant of New Haven, nieces and nephews, and the members of her religious community.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Mount Saint Joseph, where visitation will begin Tuesday at 4 p.m., with a wake service following at 6:30 p.m.
Glenn Funeral Home, Owensboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Carl Kennedy
Carl Fletcher Kennedy, 83, of Cardwell, Mo., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, Ark.
Born Aug. 15, 1919, in Russell County, Va., son of the late Pleasant H. and Maude Bush Kennedy, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in China, Burma and India. He was a member of the VFW in Paragould.
On May 5, 1949, in Pascagoula, Miss., he married
Vida Daily, who preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 2002. He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Otis, Carry, Willie, Thomas and Clarence Kennedy and two sisters, Juanita Robinette and Virginia Massey.
Survivors include one step-son, Willie Hayes and wife, Phyllis, of Brookport, Ill.; one sister, Oakley Kennedy Holbrook, of Coeburn, Va. and a special nephew, Lonnie Robinette.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Arbyrd, Mo. with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating.
Burial was in the Cardwell cemetery.
Naomi Malin
Naomi Ruby "Neem" Malin, 87, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in New Madrid, Mo.
Born Sept. 16, 1915, in Greenway, Ark., daughter of the late Theodore Clinton "Clint" and Lillie Gertrude Adams Baker, she was a member of the Garden Club, VFW Auxiliary and an active member of the First Baptist Church. She was co-owner of the East Third Grocery in Caruthersville.
On Aug. 13, 1933, in Greenway, she married
Ponder Lee Malin, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1991. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Elizabeth Curtis; one brother, Glen Baker and two half-brothers.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Ferrell, of Caruthersville; three grandchildren, Tim Ferrell, of Portageville, Mo. and Jeannie Fitzwater and Christy Ferrell, both of Caruthersville and four great-grandchildren, Lauran Marie and Lindsey Ann Ferrell, of Portageville and Emma Lauren and Olivia Caroline Fitzwater, of Caruthersville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville with Dr. James Adams officiating. Burial was in the Maple cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Steve and Marc Malin, Bill Eaker, R.T. Lunceford, John Alford and Walter Carle.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
Steven McDonald
Steven Edward McDonald, 47, of St. Peters, Mo., formerly of Malden, Mo., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Peters.
Born Sept. 5, 1955, in Malden, son of Margaret Ann Dean McDonald, of Malden and the late William Edward McDonald, he was a self-employed painter. He was a member of the Assembly of God in Mt. Home, Ark., a member of the Christian Youth Athletic Association and the River City Athletic Association.
On Feb. 14, 1997, in Malden, he married
Debra Jean Dennis, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Steven E. McDonald, Jr., of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Conner Glen Harrop-McDonald, of St. Peters; one daughter, Tamra D. Milligan, of Jackson, Mo.; one brother, David McDonald, of Malden; two sisters, Debra Lacy, of Hartselle, Ala. and Barbara Hamlett, of Malden and three grandsons, Nicholas McDonald, of Poplar Bluff and Alec McDonald and Noah Milligan, both of Jackson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Dan Hargrave officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.
Ollie Sides
Ollie E. Sides, 89, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at Kennett.
Born July 10, 1913, in Pemiscot County, daughter of the late George and Ora Hutchison Malone, she was a homemaker, an Avon representative and a member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti.
On Nov. 8, 1930, in Blytheville, Ark., she married
Ora T. Sides, who preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2001. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Annie Sides and Abigale Burton.
Survivors include one daughter, Delores Moore and husband, Paul, of Hayti; one son, Larry Sides and Wife, Linda, of Ft. Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Gary and Cary Swan, of Hayti, Chris Sides, of Houston, Texas, Brad Dodson, of Ft. Worth and Stephanie Turner, of California; eight great-grandchildren, Chadd and Janea Swan, Garrett and Swede Dodson, Phillip and Kevin Sides and Forrest and Hunter Turner and one great-great-grandchild, Madisyn Swan.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the First Baptist Church in Hayti with Dr. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie cemetery at Caruthersville, Mo.
Pallbearers were Michael, Leslie, Wayne, Bobby Gene and Chris Sides and Brad Dodson.
