Alfreda Shultz
Alfreda Shultz, 81, of Jackson, Mo., formerly of Malden and Gideon, Mo., died Monday, March 24, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born May 7, 1921, in Matthews, Mo., daughter of the late James R. and Pearl Hunott Hill, she was of the Baptist faith.
On Jan. 6, 1944, in Clarkton, Mo., she married
Herman Shultz, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Judy Alexander, of Jackson and Paulette Broadbent, of Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Aura Harper, of Blytheville, Ark.; one brother, George Hill, of Essex, Mo.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, at the Bradsahw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield cemetery in Clarkton.
Bertha Smith
Bertha May Smith, 91, of Malden, Mo., died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at her residence.
Born Aug. 5, 1911, in Piggott, Ark., she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
She married
Charley Louis Smith, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Lowell Eugene and Dale Lee Smith and three brothers, Sammie Webster and Johnalee and Mitchell Ganslow.
Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Helen Mckay, of Memphis, Tenn.; one son, Dr. Charles E. Smith, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four grandchildren, Dale Mckay, of Latham, N.Y., Linda Thomas, of Pevely, Mo., David Mckay, of St. Louis, Mo. and Charles Stephen Smith, of CharlesTown, W.Va. and seven great-grandchildren, Jarred, Justin and Jessie Mckay and Erica, Nicole, Krystle and Brittni Thomas.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Mmarch 25, at the First Assembly of God Church in Malden with the Rev. Dale Shoup officiating.
Burial was in the Hagy cemetery at Dexter, Mo.
Donations in her honor may be made to the Recreational Building Fund of the First Assembly of God Church
Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
William Stewart
William Clifton "Bill" Stewart, 71, of Paragould, Ark., died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born June 30, 1931, in Cardwell, Mo., son of the late Benjamin Edgar and Rita Dar Thula Farmer Stewart, he was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from Horner Motor Company. He was a member of the First Assembly of God, past president and former member of the Lion's Club and former state of Arkansas Checker Champion.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Dement Stewart, of Paragould; two sons, Boyce Stewart, of Palacio, Mexico and John Stewart, of Paragould; one daughter, Lola Jackson, of Paragould; one brother, Grover Stewart of Cardwell, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Novis, Raymond, Landon, John Arlo and Bland Stewart and one sister, Fairy Stewart.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, March 25, at the Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel in Paragould with Mark Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Greene County Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Jackson, Charles Woodson, All Barnett, Rick Mann, Danny Sanders and Ken Curtwright.
Honorary pallbearers were Jason Clark, Sam Jackson and Cameron Tate.
William White
William White, 80, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Pine Bluff.
Arrangements are incomplete with McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.
Carl Newman
Carl Lee Newman, 80, of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the Northeast Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
Born Oct. 16, 1922, in Senath, son of the late James Washington and Susie Anna Gibson Newman, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church and American Legion Post 303 in Senath.
On Jan. 8, 1941, in Cardwell, Mo., he married
Vaudine Morris, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three children, Carl Dean Newman and wife, Bonnie, of Kennett, Sudona Rollins and husband, Bill, of Paragould, Ark., Gary Lynn Newman and wife, Brenda, of Senath; five grandchildren, Jennifer Gurley and husband, George, of Kennett, Gary Lynn Newman and wife, Cheryl, of Senath, Paul Brian Newman and wife, Sharon, of New Jersey, Krissi Rose and husband, Brian, of Leachville, Ark. and Steven Rollins and wife, Stacey, of Paragould; 10 great-grandchildren, Carlee and Caleb Gurley, Baylee and Chance Rose, Emilee Newman, Garrett Morgan, Tori and Trevor Mafnas, Zachary Rollins and Jacqueline Newman and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Franklin Harvey and George Washington Newman and three sisters, Eldona Duke, Flora McGrew and Jacqueline Newman.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Assembly of God Church in Senath with the Revs. Wayland Tom and Derek Combs officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Don Wallace, Eddie Adams, Mike Todd, Greg Gibson, Wally Brown, John Wilcox, Kenny Gibson and B.J. Young.
Honorary pallbearers were members of American Legion Post 303.
William White
William "Bill" White, 82, of Pine Bluff, Ark., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was born September 11, 1920 at Pontotoc, Miss., son of the late Andrew Payton and Lettie Rudel Sappington White.
He was reared and educated in Pontotoc, Miss., and lived in Kennett, Mo. for a number of years. He was a General Manager for Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company for 23 years, and received numerous awards during his career. He retired in 1983.
Mr. White was also a dedicated coach and manager for more than 10 years with Little League, Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth Baseball Teams.
He had been a resident of Pine Bluff for 20 years and was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Jean Walls White, to whom he was married
on Oct. 5, 1953, at Hernando, Miss.; two sons, Phillip White and wife, Susie, of Fort Smith, Ark. and Chris White and wife, Shawn, of Southlake, Texas; two daughters, Deborah White Byers and husband, Marty, of Lexa Ark. and Tammy White Studdard and husband, Rick, of Pine Bluff; three brothers, Robert White, of Gillett, Ark., James White, of Kennett and Carl White, of Southhaven, Miss.; one sister, Sarah Robison, of Kennett and nine grandchildren, Terra Fuller, Christy Fuller, Brandon White, Ryan Byers, Leah Byers, Ricky Studdard, Hali Studdard, Taylor White and Brady White. A host of extended family, and very special friends of over 40 years, Neal and Mary Magee, of Sheridan, Ark.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 25, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Revs. Lonnie Mittag and Bob Medlcok officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Robert, Paul, Carl and Payton White, David Yates and Neal Mayes.
Memorials may be made to the Varner River Baptist Church.
Nell Grogan
Nell Grogan, 92, of Kennett, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Three Rivers Regional Medical Center-North in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, at the Slicer Street Church of Christ in Kennett with Johnny Hester and James Powell oficiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.
Memorials may be made to the Slicer Street Church of Christ, Bakerville Church of Christ, VNA Hospice and Children's Home of Paragould, Ark.
Junior Kelley
Junior Lee Kelley, 70, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born Aug. 21, 1932, in Reagan, Tenn., son of the late James Levi and Nella Staggs Kelley, he was a farmer.
Survivors include five sons, Author Ray and Anthony Joe Kelley, both of Koshkonong, Mo., Clarence Levie Kelley, of Granite City, Ill., Charles Dale Kelley, of Gosnell, Ark. and Randy Wayne Kelley, of Stacy, Minn.; one daughter, Mary "Sissy" Suzanna King, of Koshkonong; five brothers, Henry "Cotton" Kelley, of Braggadocio, J.R. Kelley, of Steele, Mo., Tommy Kelley, of Alexandria, La., Chester Kelley, of Caruthersville, Mo. and Melvin Kelley, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; five sisters, Sue Austin, of Sardis, Tenn., Billie Joe Casteel and Patricia Wilcox, both of Braggadocio, Mary Rodgers, of Memphis, and Bobbie Jean "Barbara" Clay, of Pascola, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Della Lee Kelley and one son, Eugene Kelley.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 26, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. David Boyd officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion cemetery at Steele.
Stella Alexander
Stella Elizabeth Alexander, 92, of Steele, Mo., died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at the River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born May 16, 1910, in Cerro Gordo, Tenn., daughter of the late Don and Ada Turner Alexander, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Steele.
Survivors include one sister, Helen Threet, of Blytheville, Ark.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Hobert Alexander and one sister, Anna Mae Sneed.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Mousie officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion cemetery in Steele.
Helen Karnes
Helen M. Karnes, 88, of Redlands, Calif., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Plymouth Village in Redland.
Visitation will be from 10:30 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rob McNabb officiating.
Burial will follow at the Lulu cemetery in Senath.
Gale Orr
Gale "Big" Orr, 75, of Gray Ridge, Mo., died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at his residence.
Born March 31, 1927, in Clarkton, Mo., son of the late Thomas B. and Etta King Orr, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a farmer and a member of the Essex Lions Club. He was also a member of the Gray Ridge General Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Doris McCoy, of Dexter, Mo. and Ruth Tucker, of MerRouge, La.; a special nephew, Marion Dale Orr, Jr.; eight nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews and seven great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Marion Dale "Little" Orr, Sr.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, March 27, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Corlew officiating.
Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories cemetery in Sikeston, Mo.
