Lola Lane
Lola Lane, 84, of Brookwood, Ala., formerly of Kennett, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the University of Alabama Medical Center-West in Bessemer, Ala.
Born Aug. 27, 1918, in Morn, Tenn., daughter of the late Abb and Laura Rowe Davidson, she was a nurse and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Kennett.
In 1932, she married
Ralph Lane, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Spiven Lane; one brother, Buford Davidson and four sisters, Zular Sanders, Lallie Pinto, Jadie Elliston and Parbetty Davidson.
Survivors include one son, Bob Lane, Festus, Mo.; two daughters, Shirley Wood, of Brookwood and Zetty Meggison, of Stanton, Mo.; three sisters, Maybelle Duncan, of Campbell, Mo., Estell Thomas, of Cedar Hill, Mo. and Millie Reason, of Kennett; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, April 10, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. J.C. Joyner officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

William Lydon
William John Lydon, 78, of Dyersburg, Tenn., died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in Dyersburg.
Born Sept. 17, 1924, in Bergenfield, N.J., son of the late Francis Edward and Elthea Behrens Lydon, he was a U.S. Army veteran, a salesman and a member of the Tucker Street Church.
On Feb. 4, 1963, in Mexico, he married
Shirley Jean Reid, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Lydon.
Survivors include one son, William John Lydon, Jr., of Dyersburg; two brothers, James Lydon, of New Jersey and Francis E. Lydon, of Bergenfield and one sister, Mary Lydon Engel, of Tamarac, Fla.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the Tucker Stret Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. Bob Miller officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville, Mo. was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Payne, 71, of Hornersville, Mo., died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, April 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Earl Dunavant officiating.
Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett.

Helen Southerland
Helen French Southerland, 81, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Born November 16, 1921, near Lobeville, Tenn., daughter of the late John and Maude French, she was a homemaker and a member of the Bakerville Church of Christ.
On Aug. 1, 1942, in Caruthersville, Mo., she married
Ellis Doyle Southerland, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2002. She was also preceded in death by one brother, John D. French; one sister, Mildred Dodd and one granddaughter, Allison Coffey.
Survivors include four children, Jim Southerland and wife, Diana, of Franklin, Tenn., Karen Dukewits, of Tulsa, Okla., Jan Payne and husband, Bob, of Springfield and Parah Coffey and husband, Jerry, of St. Charles, Mo.; two sisters, Ruby Moss, of Dyersburg, Tenn. and Marie Riggs, of Deering, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Megan and Ashley Southerland, both of Franklin, John Dukewits and Jennifer Graziano, both of Tulsa, Jason Payne and Jill Tracy, both of Springfield, Grant Coffey, of St. Charles and Clark Coffey, of Boulder, Colo.; one great-granddaughter, Jalyn Payne.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, April 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with James Powell and Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial will follow at the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens cemetery in Caruthersville.

James "Eddie" White, 77, of Kennett, died today, Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his residence.

Linda White Linda White, 59, of Kennett, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at her residence.
Born Sept. 4, 1943, in Sikeston, Mo., she was the daughter of Bert and Beatrice Stanfill, of Kennett.
On Feb. 28, 1964, in Kennett, she married
Bobbie White, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Earl Dean White and wife, Nancy, of Joplin, Mo. and Terry White and wife, Tracy, of Kennett; one brother, Gerald Stanfill, of Rockport, Mo.; one sister, Ella Ruth McNece and husband, Victor, of Clinton, Mo. and one granddaughter, Katelyn White.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, April 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bud Evans officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Pearl Crawford, 80, of Advance, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at the Advance Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 2, 1923, in Missouri, daughter of the late Jess and Minnie Jackson Hardesty, she was a caretaker-custodian at the First Baptist Church and First Christian Church in Kennett. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kennett.
On Feb. 22, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., she married
Raymond M. Crawford, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1988. She was also preceded in death by three sister, Lillie Wallace, Lildean Hayes and Ruby Hardesty and one brother, Tom Hardesty.
Survivors include two sisters, Lela Gribler and Irene Stratman, both of Advance.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today, Friday, April 11, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Kennett with the Rev. Don Crawford officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.
Sherman Metzger
Sherman George "Crack" Metzger, 79, of Hayti, Mo., died April 8, 2003, in Hayti.
The son of the late Sherman and Modest Williams Metzger, he was a 1942 graduate of Wardell High School. He was a businessman, a member of the Hayti Jaycees and served as an alderman and police judge in Hayti. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Caruthersville, Mo.
On July 17, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married
Sadie Lee Chism, who survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Melody Tohtz of Herculaneum, Mo., one son, Marty Metzger and wife, Pam, of Hayti; a sister, Dimple Stevens and husband, J.C., of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Cindy McMillian of Imperial, Mo. and Marty Metzger, Jr., of Hayti.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Whitaker.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the First Christian Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Bill Baldwin officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery in Hayti with John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti in charge of services.
Pallbearers were Wayne Kincade, Danny Stevens, Jim South, Randy Tillman, Steve Watkins and Brian Whitaker.
Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hayes, James Klinkhardt, Jimmy Metzger, Ralph Metzger, J.W. Metzger and Cletus Metzger.
Elizabeth Mungle
Elizabeth Mungle, 59, of Kennett, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Kennett. Born March 8, 1944, in Kennett, she was a daughter of Ida Kirby Shirmen of Kennett and the late Rethus Shirmen.
She married
Gary W. Mungle, who survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Chris Harden of Kennett and Joe Eubanks of Kennett; one brother, Ollie Shirmen of Maryland Heights, Mo.; six grandchildren, Joe Trisha, Jeremy and Erica Eubanks, Chastity Nance and Christina Harden and one great-grandchild, William Joseph Nance, Jr.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. today, Sunday, April 13, in McDaniel Funeral Chapel in Kenentt with the Rev. Dennis Collins officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers will be Greg Dawes, William Nance, Randy Davis, Shawn Harmon, Gary French and Jerry Don Nixon.
James Plunkett
James Edward Plunkett, 81, of Holcomb, Mo., died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his home.
Born April 16, 1921, in Morrilton, Ark., a son of the late James Franklin and Hattie Belle Hendrix Plunkett, he was affiliated with the Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II, he served with the 91st Recon with the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the 1st Armor Division Association.
On June 30, 1962, he married
Verdia May Long who survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Roger Plunkett of Gideon, Mo., James Harmon of Springfield, Mo. Jimmy Lee Plunkett and Sherman Hartwick Plunkett of Clarkton, Mo.; one daughter, Patricia Ann Thompson of Clarkton; two brothers, Robert Bean of Risco, Mo. and John Lott of Williamsville, Mo.; two sisters, Myrtle Bumpus and Martha Spain, both of Clarkton; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Bean; four sisters, Laura Tarkington, Addie Brown, Hazel Plunkett and Julie Plunkett and one grandson, Mark Thompson.
Visition will be 6 p.m. today, Sunday, April 13, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, at the Bradshaw Chapel with Brother Dale Rickman officiation.
Burial will be in Stanfield cemetery near Clarkton.
