Lillie Williams

Lillie Williams, 82, of Parma, Mo., died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Malden Nursing Center in Malden, Mo.

Born January 7, 1921, in Ridgley, Tenn., a daughter of the late Virgil and Viola Wheeler Allen, she was a homemaker and a member of the Kimball Baptist Church of Malden.

On June 9, 1943, in Malden, she married Leonard Williams who survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Barbara Bonds of Parma and Patsey Dailey and husband, Bobby, of Batesville, Ark.; two sons, Marvin Williams and wife, Fran, of Tallahassee, Fla. and Bobby Hutcherson and wife, Lucille, of Warrenton, Mo.; five sisters, Ruth Lester of Malden, Lois Paul of Danville, Ind.; Isabill Sanduskey of Dexter, Mo., Betty Batson of Raleigh, N.C., Hazel Pickard of French Village, Mo.; one brother, Tommy Allen, of Parma; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and six great-great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virgie Day; one son, David Leroy Williams and three brothers, Vernie, Hubert and Leroy Allen.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, April 20, at Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, in Landess Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.

Burial in Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.

Margaret Wood

Margaret Wood, 84, of Malden, formerly of Michigan, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born Sept. 15, 1918, in Pinckney, Mich., a daughter of the late Robert and Madge Cook Entwisle, she retired from Pontiac General Hospital in Michigan. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Provance and husband, Charles, of Clarkton, Mo., Nancy King and husband, Harold, of Howell, Mich. and Linda Haveman and husband, Joe, of Canal Fulton, Ohio; two sons, DeWayne Aspenwall of Appling, Ga., and Bill Aspenwall of White Lake, Mich.; one brother, Gene Esnwisle of Detroit, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jack Entwisle.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 20, at Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden.

Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, at Landess Chapel.

Burial will be in Mt. Gilead cemetery at Clarkton.

Verline Wright

Verline Wright, 80, of Kennett, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born August 13, 1922, in Holcomb, Mo., a daughter of the late Charles and Delia Cullum Brooks, she was a member of Ely Baptist Church in Kennett.

She married Hoyt A. Wright who preceded her in death March 11, 1990.

Family members include three daughters, Sherry Webb and husband, Randy, of Piggott, Ark., Sandy Hatfield and husband, Ken, of Richmond, Texas and Annette Rollins and husband, Jack, of Kennett; five grandchildren, Larry McKuin and wife, Kelly, Brandon McKuin and wife, Dana, and Jacy Cook, all of Kennett, Becky McKuin of Piggott and Lance Corporal Riley of Cook of Kennett, now stationed at 29 Palms, Calif. four great-grandchildren, Jake, Jenna, Taylor and Rachel McKuin; her church family, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 19, at Ely Baptist Church in Kennett with the Rev. Don Slatton officiating.

Burial in Memorial Gardens cemetery in Kennett, under direction of McDaniel Funeral Service of Kennett.

Ernest Barrett

Ernest Franklin Barrett, 78, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Friday, April 18, 2003, at the V.A. Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.

Born in Cardwell, Mo., son of the late W.T. and Alma Greer Barrett, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, Korea, Dominican Republic and Vietnam. He received both Bronze and Silver Stars.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Barrett, of Jonesboro; one son, Danny Paul Barrett, of Whitmore Lake, Mich.; one daughter, Jana Kloppe, of Buckeye, Ariz.; three step-daughters, Rhyan Candour, of Jonesboro, Elizabeth Baker, of Pinckney, Mich, and Mary Rose Masternak, of Inkster, Mich.; one brother, Charles Barrett, of Leachville, Ark.; two sisters, Nelva Jean Sharp, of Bartlett, Tenn. and Louise Miller, of Paragould, Ark. three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Marlin Barrett.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 22, at the Howard Funeral Home Chapel in Leachville with Dwight Harrison officiating.

Burial was in the Cardwell cemetery.

Pallbearers were Marshall and Michael Sharp, Dennis Baker, Bob, Andy and Michael Peel and Roger Poe.

Honorary pallbearer was Cliff Cupp.

Memorials may be made to the Cardwell cemetery Association or the Cardwell cemetery Road Fund

Connie Boehme

Connie Jo Freeman Boehme, 48, of Campbell, Mo., died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at her residence.

Born Jan. 20, 1955, in St. Louis, Mo., daughter of Nadean Burchett Freeman, of Malden, Mo., and and the late Edward J."Sarge" Freeman, she was a member of the Ladies Auxillary in Lilbourn Mo.

Survivors include two sons, Jason Freeman and wife, Diane and Joshua Jones, all of Malden; one sister, Diane Bates and husband, Stag, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three grandchildren, Lacy and Logan Freeman, both of Malden and Devion Trammell, of Malden and companion, Thomas Jones, of Malden.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 22, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Blagg officiating.

Burial will follow at the Rosewood cemetery in Malden.

Leroy Evans

Leroy R. Evans, 80, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Nov. 27, 1922, in Holland, Mo., son of the late John W. and Ola Mae Rogers Evans, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WWII, retired appliance serviceman and a member of the United Methodist Church in Malden. He served as a city councilman and a reserve police officer in Malden.

On Jan. 18, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married Jean Risinger, who preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 2000.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Durham and husband, Mark, of Malden; one son Larry Evans and wife, Donna, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two grandsons, David Durham of Sikeston, Mo. and Jason Durham, of Malden; two granddaughters, Jill Evans and Elissa Rogers, both of Poplar Bluff and one great-great-granddaughter, Kaylee Jean, of Poplar Bluff.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 22, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating. Burial with military rites were held in the Memorial Park cemetery at Malden.

Delbert Ford

Delbert L. Ford, 76, of Senath, Mo., died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Arkansas Methiodist Hospital in Paragould, Ark.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete with the McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath.

Linda Ford

Linda Ford, 63, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Arbyrd, Mo., died Monday, April 21, 2003, at the Desperes Hospital in St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Senath.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Denny Brown officiating.

Burial will follow at the McGrew cemetery in Senath.

Claudies Gardner

Claudies Edward Gardner, 75, of the Senath-Hornersville, Mo. area., died Friday, April 18, 2003, at the St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.

Born Aug. 5, 1927, in Wooley Hollow, Ark., he ws the son of the late Oliver Isaac and Jewell Carol Clemmons Gardner.

In Dec. 1947, he married Junie Mae Merritt, who preceded him in death on March 24, 1998. He was also preceded in death by one son, Eddie Edward Gardner; one brother, Harvey Gardner and an infant sister, Ava Nell Gardner.

Survivors include two sons, Roger Gardner and wife, Linda, of Mountain View, Ark. and Jimmie Dean Gardner and wife, Michelle, of Judonia, Ark.; one daughter, Norma Mitchell and husband, Ricky, of Kennett; three brothers, Kenneth Gardner, of Caruth, Mo. and Clifford and John Gardner, both of Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Lorine Lawson, of Milford, Mich., Alline Welty, of Brooklyn, Mich,. and Vadis Brooks, of Senath; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Senath with the Rev. Troy Alley officiating.

Burial was in the Liberty cemetery.

Pallbearers were T.J., Rocky, Dale and Mike Gardner, Jason Mitchell and Craig Reed.

Jean Meredith

Jean Harris Meredith, 72, of Rogersville, Ala., formerly of Senath, Mo., died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at her residence.

Born in Senath, Mo., daughter of the Mr. and Mrs. Gene Harris, she was owner/operator of Rutledge Inn in Lewisburg, Tenn. Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Meredith and fiancee, William E. Harris, of Lewisburg.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Scott Meredith and one brother, David Harris.

Memorial services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, at Lone Oak cemetery.

London Funeral Home of Lewisburg, was in charge of arrangements.

Donations may be made to the American Lung Association of Tennessee, One Vantage Way, Suite C-250, Nashville, Tenn. 37228.

Raymond Pate

Raymond David Pate, 42, of Hornersville, Mo., died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at his residence.

Born Oct. 22, 1961, in Kennett, he was the son of Eddie Pate and Pat Tuten.

Survivors include his father, Edward Pate, of Monette, Ark.; his mother and step-father, Patsy and Elvis Tuten, both of Hornersville; two sons, Bryan Pate, of Arizona and Zachary Taylor Pate, of Senath, Mo.; two daughters, Amanda Pate, of Paragould, Ark. and Rachel Pate, of Senath; two brothers, William Pate, of Georgia and Danny Pate, of San Antonia, Texas; three sisters, Tammy Ingram, of Brookland, Ark., Kim Hodges, of Cardwell, Mo. and Kelly Duke, of Hornersville and one grandson, Charlie Pate, of Paragould. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Raymond and Grace Taylor and Bud Pate and one sister, Robin Pat Winkle.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

McDaniel Funeral Home of Senath is in charge of arrangements.

Beatrice Proffer

Beatrice Boyd Proffer, 100, of Kennett, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Nov. 20, 1902, in Dyersburg, Tenn., daughter of the late Tom and Clara Louise Boyd, she was a member and organist at the Faith United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Merguie and husband, Bennie, of Kennett; two grandchildren, Ron Merguie, of Jonesboro, Ark. and Sandra Thorn, of Mountain Home, Ark.; three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Basil, Tommy, Emmitt and Herdis Boyd; two brothers in infancy and one sister in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Billy Fox officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were John David Merguie, Ed Hodges, Dr. John McMullin, Keith Mitchell, Johnny Dennis and Glenn Wilcoxson.
